Is there a way to check whether my phone is displaying HDR visual? - LG G7 One Questions & Answers

Hello!
Supposedly, the LG G7 One is HDR10-compliant. At least that is what I read when I bought the phone months ago... When I watch Netflix, I get "HDR" tags next to some titles and the colour gamut seems to change. I even noticed recently (with android 10) that the timeline cursor in Netflix turn pink/magenta instead of the usual red whenever I watch HDR content. Weirdly enough, I have to turn my phone a few time (to rotate the viewport) for Netflix to trigger HDR.
Well... That is only if HDR really work.
So...
Is there any way I can confirm that with some kind of debug informations?
Thanks!

[Q] CM7/Gingerbread & Youtube Auto Screen Orientation Issue

Hey guys, finally got CM7 onto my HTC Vision/T-Mobile G2. Loving it.
However there's one small thing that's been bugging the snot out of me.
I turned off Auto Orientation since I like using my phone while I'm lying down in bed (so I'm usually turned to the side). I'm not a fan of Accelerometers on phones in general. Youtube obeyed the Auto Orientation of Froyo, but Youtube in Gingerbread doesn't. This ONLY happens while playing a video. The Youtube application itself (browsing my subscriptions, searching for videos, etc) works fine, but once I get it playing a video, the phone tries to be "helpful" and play in widescreen/sideways mode whenever I move it around.
The only way I can force it to be the orientation I want is either by pulling out the hardware keyboard (which keeps it in permanent landscape mode) or by double tapping the video (which forces it to go into portrait/landscape mode).
Any way to turn off Youtube's auto orientation change in Gingerbread? I tried using Smart Rotator to force Youtube to listen but it doesn't work.
I tried a bunch of apps from the market but I can't seem to turn it off either. I was so excited to see disabling rotation built into 2.3 with CM7 too.
I'm running CM7 on Droid Incredible.

HDMI screen getting cropped

Hey guys and gals,
I just received my micro HDMI converter. I'm having a problem with it, I have tried it in two different TVs. The display is getting cropped up from every side (Up, Down, Left and Right). I have tried both HDMI modes in settings to no avail. I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this? I also tried changing the aspect ratio of my TV from 16:9 to 4:3 and it still crops the screen. I'm trying to talk to ASUS service through online chat as I type this, but since it normally takes like 30 mins to get an agent I'm posting here to see if anyone knows how to solve this. Otherwise it looks great I ran Dark Meadows and a video on Netflix I noticed that the subs in netflix do not display on my LCD, might be the cropped screen, but they show on the tablet on a black background while the video is playing.
Look for native or just scan on the TV, you always want to use this setting on your TV as it shows the content in its native form without stretching or cropping, then try the 2 settings on the tablet.
I had this problem but it was. Under scanning. I rebooted the tablet and that fixed it for me.
I've been googling like hell, but it seems my TV sucks since it doesn't have scanning settings, it only has 4 aspect ratios 16:9, 16:9 zoom, 4:3 and 4:3 zoom. There is a setting called PC Setup, which in the manual it says you can scale the display, but its inaccessible through the hdmi, probably it becomes accessible when using VGA. At least when using netflix it displays everything fine.

[Q] 3 little issues with my Z3 - help please (speaker, error message, youtube no 1080

Hi all.
Just got my Z3, and overall the phone is excellent. I owned a Z, Z1 and Z2, M8 and HTC butterfly 2 immediately before the Z3.
Issue 1 - My top speaker SEEMS to be a bit louder than the bottom? Does anyone else have this? Perhaps its by design, and its barely perceptible. Just wondering if I were the only one.
Issue 2 - I have google now's "OK google" recognition on every screen - this seems to create a bug for the camera - every time i go into the camera, it seems to think the microphone is being used and hence there is an error message. I can dismiss it and continue to take a photo or video with no ill effect, but the error message is annoying. Any fixes for this? - this was fine on my M8 and B2 previously
Issue 3 - Youtube app is up to date, but it wont give option for 1080p resolution? 720p is max - (M8 and B2 show 1080 fine for those videos)
thanks!
Only commenting about nr3, 1080p is working fine here... Planet earth video (just looked for 1080p in youtube).
Haven't noticed nr 1 btw, so at least not disturbing me so far...

You are not. Top speaker sounds different, has more bass, even causes the phone to vibrate. Lower speaker sounds far thinner, doesn't cause any vibration.

I didn't find any option for activating "OK Google" outside the Google now screen. So how did you do that ?

No problems encountered, used the "Big Buck Bunny" and "Planet earth seen from space" videos for testing. - Resolutions 360 up to 1080p selectable and working.
Simply search for "1080p full hd".
No 1080 here neither...
Exactly the same boat. Videos only go up to 720p and no option for 1080p.
Any ideas?
I had 1080p when I first set the phone up. Now only 720p. Probably on Google's end there.
However for the speaker issue, both speakers are actually even volume wise.
Your perceived differences comes from the fact that the top speaker seems to be tuned towards the lower end, and the bottom speaker towards the highs. To me that seems intentional, as splitting them up would reduce the strain on the speakers and allow them to go louder. But ofcourse, it could all be a hardware fault
But as you say, its barely perceivable unless you actually listen for it.
For the error message all you can do is disable google now until Sony patches in a fix.
Strange about Issue #3,
I read something on reddit a few days ago about the 1080p option being gone for some..
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/2ic1zp/google_took_away_1080p_option_on_the_youtube_app/
Thanks for all the responses.
Yes, I've noticed my top speaker seems to have more bass and the lower one is more treble based. Strange how they have set it up this way, would have expected both to be even. oh well.
On the google now thing, ok - i'll just have to wait for an update, but if anyone has a reasonably workaround, let me know!
finally, on 1080 - yeah, its strange, I got 1080 on that Earth film, but on most of the regular channels I view, it seems to top out at 720p. Interesting but hope they bring 1080 back.
Thanks for all the responses. After having a Butterfly 2 (which was awesome), and only having a couple of users on the forum, its good to be back on a forum with active participants!

Chef, you need to have US english selected as the system language.
Hi all
With regards to number 2:
Issue 2 - I have google now's "OK google" recognition on every screen - this seems to create a bug for the camera - every time i go into the camera, it seems to think the microphone is being used and hence there is an error message
I have since downloaded the google now launcher, this brings the persistent google search bar onto each screen, enables OK google from each screen, plus is not giving me an error with camera.
Try it and let me know if you get the same results.
Issue #2 is a well known issue with the z3 and Google now, it should be fixed in the next big update by Sony.
Issue #3 made me realized that I haven't even opened YouTube since I got my D6633 on Monday, so when I checked the it was the same issue than most of you are saying. But I'm used to this issue on my 3 months old Galaxy Tab S, it has never worked as expected showing the maximum 1440p resolution until you clear YouTube cache and data, force close it, disable it Uninstalling updates, once this is done then you go to Play Store and look for YouTube, it should shows Enable, and one you enable it, and update to latest version, then you have your full resolution options including 1440p. Sad thing is that everytime there is a new YouTube update we need to do the same again.
I did the same steps on my Z3 just to see that it didn't work, so I went back to apps and saw that there are 2 more apps directly related to YouTube, I already have disabled Live On YouTube as I tried to use it and never weekend and then I realized that I'll never use it again. Anyway, I decided to do the same steps mentioned above but this time I also disabled the 2 YouTube extensions that are there, went back to the Play Store and Enabled and updated YouTube and when I went back to the app there are all the options including 1080p, one thing though, it seems to not stay skeeter by default, just select it and then re-start the video and you will see it on 1080p.
I re-enabled the 2 YouTube Extensions back just to see if it breaks it again but it seems that it still working so that's good news.
I hope you can fix it with this information, at least until the next YouTube update.

rotating video

Hi,
I am using several apps where video's are posted like news videos. For instance NOS is a populair newsfeed app with videos in it. When viewing those videos they are played normal with the Samsung s6 Edge portraid stand. This is only a small part of the screen while the videos can be played on a pc for instalnce full screen.
So i turn the phone landscape and assume the the video will go landscape and full screen to but that isn;t the case it has never done that. The video keeps playing a small part of the screen.
The setting in Android is to turn the screen when the phone is turned so when holding the phone landscape the screen is also landscape. When i choose the camera and set it oin video that videoscreen is landscape so that is working good, but not within apps.
Does anyone now how to solve this..?

Videos that play in apps will only play the way the app wants them too. Some apps simply don't allow video rotation.
Ok thx. I had to know that myself....

Washed-off videos (YouTube and media players) issue

Hi, I bought the One Vision the day it came out and since then I noticed straight away, when you put a video in landscape mode, say YouTube or Google Photos, the phone automatically activates a kind of HDR/higher contrast mode, which is ugly, oversaturates the image, and make me lose a lot of detail, it's comparable to a beauty mode. Has any of you guys stumbled upon this? If so, how did you manage to solve it? Thanks

Yeah I noticed something similar. I don't think it depends on the screen orientation but rather just that this IPS panel doesn't have good colour reproduction.
I also noticed this, and I also think it's worse in landscape. I installed the app "Screen Balance" from the Play Store and set it to about 90% brightness. It improves the image quality to be less washed out, but still it is not perfect.
