How to install another country's firmware? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

My S7 (SM-G930F) is on NEE (Nordic Countries) firmware but I live in the UK and am on Vodafone. This means Samsung Pay doesn't work for my region, how do I flash the Vodafone UK firmware via Odin?

Please follow this step by step guide here
There's a few things you need to do first and the longest will be downloading the firmware you want from sammobile.com .
When you type in "G930F" in the search box you can then filter by country so choose United Kingdom. You'll see a few firmwares listed including Vodafone UK. You don't have to use any branded firmware if you prefer to have a clean S7. In this case chose the firmware "BTU". Once that's downloaded follow the guide for the rest.

Want to un-root (to enable OTA) for my Gear 2

The problem I'm running into is that there is no stock firmware for the United States that I can find anywhere for me to unroot my Gear 2 ending in "NE5". Samsung-updates is the same way. No USA firmware. There has to be something I can do.

the thing with firmware for these devices, they dont carry a gsm/cdma chip, so it doesnt matter what firmware you use, juas as long its in the desired language you use nativly, any english speaking country will work , uk, australia, new zealand, canada, take your pic, but saying that any ota updates would be placed in sammobile anyway after a day or two, so its pretty pointless really to sacrifice root for ota when u can flash it manually via odin

Galaxy S6 Marshmallow

Hello XDA users,
I bought a galaxy S6 two months ago I always try different ROMS and Kernels but now I want to flash Marshmallow.
I have the unlocked version, SM-G920F running XtresTolite and Hacker Kernel on the 5.1.1 bootloader. I live in Israel my phone's service provider is Golan-Telecom it's taken from Cellcom. As if I flash cellcom's firmware for the galaxy s6 it will work on Golan Telecom cuz it's from it.
I want to flash Marshmallow through Odin cuz I don't have the update.
Can I flash any official Marshmalllow on my phone without problems like losing my network like "Not registered on network", if so, please tell me what I can flash and tell me the steps. I already have a TWRP backup.
Thank you. ?
I never had carrier problems while traveling so I guess You won't have any problems either.
1. Dowmload newest rom for Cyprus or United Kingdom from Sammobile.com (or any 6.0.1 that is unbranded).
2. Download odin 10.7.1
2a. Use usb2.0 ports only.
3. Hold power+vol down+home (to boot into odin mode)
4. Unpack the zip file and in AP select Your tar.md5 file.
5. Let it reboot. Enjoy.

The cyprus version looks like the only one that isn't unbranded (UK is vodafone branded, don't know if that's good?). Also the france MM is also unbranded but the PDA version is different from the rest. It's G920FXXU3DPAD instead of G920FXXU3DPB8.
So which one should I choose the unbranded cyprus or the unbranded france one?
I have the Proximus branded version from Belgium btw.

I was always had problems going from XEF to ANY other FW.... I don't suggest to use it.
I hope it takes only few days to get another FW, wich is unbranded.
I flashed XEF french MM to my g920f, no problems at all, spo2 works, everything works, battery is good, camera flawless
Just flash XEF like @Duzzy5 said or get cyprus version. It's Your choice . Both versions are pretty much identical.

VDI or XEU

Hi folks
I bought S7 from Vodafone Ireland. And I would expect it to use VDI-regioned firmware (but I did not notice what was the original region, my fault). I rooted it - and OTA upgrades do not work for me any more. SmartSwitch keeps upgrading with XEU region. Why? Should I bother? Should I (how?) use VDI-regioned firmware? How does SmartSwitch decide which region to use (and how to change that)?
I would like to understand what's going on...
VDI is Vodafone Ireland region
XEU is generic UK/Ireland region
Any comments are appreciated.

Hi mate
Most roms are multi CSC and when that is the case and you flash with CSC instead of home_csc (odin) a default CSC is applied in your case seems to be XEU, if you use home _csc you keep whatever csc you had
Should not make a big difference , you change your CSC to whatever you want but you need to be root
I understand that it should not matter much. But still...
What I do not understand is when my CSC changed from VDI to XEU? Why did SmartSwitch do that? I am root. How would I change it back to VDI?
I look at the Phone INFO app, it says:
Original CSC Code: VDI
Firmware CSC Code: XEU
Active CSC Code: XEU
I would like to have VDI/VDI/VDI if it is possible...
PS I do not think I ever flashed with full csc. At least it seems SmartSwitch is always doing home_csc. If so, it means the original CSC was XEU, right?

OTA Nougat UK

I have an S7 on MM, when are Nougat OTA's are coming to the UK? I don't bother rooting any longer but I am tempted to sideload if Samsung are going to take forever.
Depend on what s7 you have?
Edge G935
I'm on a sim only plan with BT so I own my phone rather than rent, I have spoken to BT who tell me its a Samsung OTA and they have no control, and Samsung merely tell me to to contact my Carrier.
Might end up sideloading!
It's already out. What CSC are you using?
Is the device network locked.
Can you install "Phone Info" app from play store and check which CSC is currently set as your active CSC. The CSC is the one based on which the updates are set.

I have the same UK firmware but with BTU. The difference is given below (Copied from someone on xda). https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/help/btu-xeu-t3100911
"I think i worked out the difference between BTU and XEU.
BTU firmware are on phones that come directly from Samsung (unbranded)
XEU firmware are on Sim Free handsets that are generic (unbranded) but not from Samsung"
You can now decide whether to wait for XEU or flash BTU. If you do decide to flash, backup data first and confirm that the active csc is set to BTU for OTA to work.

I brought it from ebay but I did flash the BTU firmware myself. My phone orignally had multi csc which included BTU and had a german (DBT) csc set as active.
You cannot change the CSC by device but you can flash a firmware with completely different CSC and then flash the BTU one.
I flashed mine with O2U firmware which made it forget the multi csc and then flashed BTU which set the active csc as BTU. I originally flashed the first nougat update release by Samsung and then received the performance update using OTA.
This might make it simple "You are not getting the BTU OTA updates because you don't have BTU CSC but DBT. You flashed BTU Rom but it's a multi CSC Rom and it has inside your original DBT CSC. So your CSC didn't change to BTU...If you want to have BTU CSC so you can get OTA upfates from BTU you have first to flash a rom that it's CSC is not inside the multi CSC you have now, let's say for example a rom with EUR CSC. Then you CSC will change to EUR. After that you can reflash BTU Rom and your CSC will change to BTU...Then you can take the OTA updates from BTU normally..."

Check post number 32, I added the screenshots over there as well.
There is http://updato.com/ as well if you want to download firmware faster (a lot faster than sammobile). I think they are official but have only checked one so far.
Backup the data first, flashing a different csc will factory reset the device.
That's what I kinda done I was on vodafone and preferred to be on btu so I flashed that instead but once I flashed it done wipe cache and data factory reset just to make sure all was ok on another note I kept wifi calling as well.

Samsung Pay / Android Pay no longer available for latest stock firmware (ARO)?

Hello fellas,
I have just flashed latest stock firmware, and couldn't help noticing there was no Samsung Pay or Android Pay app.
When attempting to access both items through Google Play Store, it says my device is not compatible with the version available. How come this is possible? I can't think that the S7 has been outed of Samsung Pay, there has to be something else.
Could it be a problem with the CSC? My region code is ARO (Argentina Unbranded), but after checking the app Phone Info, I have realized that the CSC Installed belongs to TTT (Trinidad y Tobago) and not my region. This always happen when flashing CSC, since it's a multi-CSC, it randomly selects a region. If anyone knows a way of flashing the proper CSC through ODIN, that would be awesome.
Thanks!

Thanks for replying.
The firmware I want is the one that comes with the ARO package, the problem is that such package also includes a multi-country CSC. Among those there is this ARO region I'm needing. My device is Unbranded, I won't install a CSC from a carrier.
Also, I don't have root and I'm not planning to have it either.

Hi
Sorry I read your first post again
Samsung Pay will not work again after you root your phone , if knox is set 0x1 there is no chance to make it work
Android pay is possible if knox is set but firmware is official ( no root) and if the flashed firmware (CSC) has that option
Is ARO part of the multi CSC you flashed with TTT?
You need a CSC that has Android pay , do you remember what CSC you had when it worked?

BTU (UK) i think it works , if your carrier at home offers the service you can flash any unbranded firmware (BL, CP andAP) with the CSC from your carrier
That way you can have unbranded firmware plus you carrier CSC

Yes it does, but some additional kernel modifications are still required for Knox to work. So stock firmware isn't fooled. Most custom s7 kernels have them though.
