I am using a solid explorer. The only one that works correctly on Android 10.
Open File Manager and head over to the root partition.
Then go to Data > Data and navigate to the com.whatsapp folder.
Go to the shared_prefs folder and search for the com.whatsapp_preferences.xml file.
Now add the below lines to that xml file, anywhere inside the <map> and </map> tags. This one line of code is, in fact, responsible for enabling Dark Mode on WhatsApp on rooted Android devices.
<boolean name="dark_mode" value= "true" />
Next, tap on the floppy icon to save the file. Now just force close WhatsApp and re-open it.
Finally, head over to Settings>Chat
You should now see the Theme option, just beneath Account. Tap on it and select Dark.

another question, does anybody know why our phones can send contact cards, but when someone sends us a contact it doesn't know what to do with it? For instance if i send a contact card to an iphone user, when the iphone user clicks on the email, the phone will ask "add contact to contact list?" Good thing for astro, at least i'm able to view the contents of the contact card now.
this mod was posted by Shep all credit to him for helping out!
for those that don't like ADB here's a easier way i had to buy SQlight edit from the market for 3$ but it was worth it because it worked!
Without adb:
1. Download SQLight editor from the market
2. If you don't have a good file manager also get Root Explorer from the market.
3. After both are installed - use Root Explorer to browse to /data/data/com.google.android.gsf/databases/gservices.db and click on it
4. Now click on "main"
5. Scroll down to gtalk_vc_wifi_only - highlight and hold
6. Press "Edit Record" and change the "value" to false instead of true
I hope this helps:

You have to make sure to install the latest Google apps 05/03/2011 and on the screen name list if your friend has a camera on his or her computer you'll find a camera icon next to their name if you click it on it then it will video call that person

Me and my girl have this..were both available and only have a video icon by our own name not each other.any ideas? Can't get to video no matter what I've tryed!
Works with CM7 Nightly 2.3.4 nightly 60 and up just install the latest Google apps I posted in the apps and theme forum. Listen carefully it does not work as good on 2.3.3 so use a 2.3.4 Rom.

This is awsome. i got a att atrix runnin on cherryblur 1.4d and i did this and the gtalk 100% worked on 3g AWESOME! i tested out the gtalk before and it would only on wifi but this worked so thank u!
App available for this
I wrote a free, open source app to do this.
It is on the market: http://market.android.com/developer?pub=Innodroid
The source code is here: http://code.innodroid.com/gtalkenabler
Give it a try and let me know how it goes. The app requires root, of course...
Guys, you don't need Root explorer (it's not free). SQLite has a feature for search database, not very fast but it works.
Anyway the trick works for a while, but somehow the gtalk_vc_wifi_only is changed back to true! Maybe after a reboot, not sure.
Any idea?

There's other free root explorers. ES a good one.
So as we all know, WhatsApp has rolled out support for sending documents
Unfortunately it only supports PDF.
So what if you wanna send other filetypes?
Well.. If you have root
There's a solution !!
Navigate to
Code:
data/data/com.WhatsApp/shared_prefs/com.WhatsApp_preferences.xml
Open with a text editor. You'll see a string
Code:
<string name=documents">PDF</string>
Add
Code:
,doc,txt,docx,ppt,xls
& force stop WhatsApp
YAY
Tested on latest WhatsApp beta 2.12.500
UPDATE the latest Google play beta officially supports all documents

No. Only documents that WhatsApp is going to support very soon.
It doesn't look like they're planning to add support for other files anytime soon

First you need to find the name of the package it's conflicting with so I suspect it's conflicting with CMFileManager.
If you have 7zip you can double click on the pixelfy file go to META-INF/com/google/android/ then drag out the updater-script into a folder or your desktop.
Open the updater-script with notepad and then let me know once you have done this.
Which file manager app is it conflicting with?

Hello,
I would like to share stock bootanimation extracted from stock roms. I extracted two versions, old suppose to be from android 5 and new is from latest firmware.
Installation process: rename to bootanimation.zip and move to folder called /system/media/
Enjoy stock animaton on custom roms!
Download: Google drive

You should find root folder and there is subfolder called system. Easiest way to do it is in twrp under advanced and pick file manager. But you have to mount system storage first.
