So I'm not the biggest fan of MUI and I really really want to use stock Android without buying a new phone. Is there a way to get stock Android on the Redmi 6?
Thanks!
That's exactly what I am going to do because I don't like MIUI too...
thanks to treble, you can use the rom you want (oreo or pie, aosp, LioneageOS, Pixel experience, ...)
https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Generic-System-Image-(GSI)-list
Caution!! redmi 6 is only A/B compatible.
But I don't know what's working and what's not... (calls, LTE, notification led, fingerprint, cameras, ...)
1. have to unlock bootloader (I'm a this step, my BL is unlocked now) https://www.techdroidtips.com/xiaomi-redmi-6-unlock-bootloader/
2. have to install TWRP (and make a backup of the MIUI rom) https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-6/development/share-twrp-3-2-3-redmi-6-t3866979
3. have to flash the choosed rom from TWRP
4. optional: flash gapps and root from TWRP
I just have to find e free moment to test if treble works correctly on the redmi 6.
I will give a feedback on this roms when I will have tested.
At this moment, we don't know how the HelioP22 mtk proc works with custom roms.

Hello,
did you manage to install stock Android on your Redmi 6? If so, does everything work fine? Do you recommend it over the original MIUI?
Hi everybody!
My Redmi 6 w/ China ROM is coming in a few weeks - I have a few questions because I'm so excited!
My understanding is that even the official TWRP has many bugs, but will it still allow me to root MIUI 10? Seems that Xiaomi.eu is even having issues with the Redmi 6 and I can't even install that. So I'm only left with Rooting MIUI 10.
I have scoured the internet but found no sources. Can TWRP at least flash Magisk to MIUI official Stable? Surely there is aw ay to root MIUI
You can try this recovery.
It has magisk built into it.
So you can flash it from there.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-6/how-to/share-redmi-6-custom-recovery-t3888450
If anyone has figured the conversion process please help others,, thanks
I flashed the K30 TWRP and the Xiaomi.eu ROM, my device has been fully converted to a Redmi K30.

There are two options:
1) you purchased Redmi K30 with so called "Global ROM" (firmware from Poco X2). In this case you'll have NFC but it's removed from X2 Settings (software). So, install TWRP and flash xiaomi.eu ROM (latest so far is 20.3.5 or Stable 11.0.13.0), then flash patch for hiding root and unlocked bootloader from Google Services - and you have NFC working!
2) you purchased pure Poco X2. In this case I'm afraid you don't have NFC anyway

Magisk is a bit buggy. Fails CTS profile and stuck on bootlogo upon installing certain modules.
How do you install magisk anyway? I am currently using MIUIeu 11.0.13. Patched boot.img with magisk & flashed using Twrp. Passed ctsprofile.

Redmi K30 is the chinese version, so there's clearly chinese apps.
The bootloader is sure unlockable. TWRP, root and custom ROMs (xiaomi.eu) are available, so installing multi language ROM with no chinese apps is sure possible.
Redmi Note 9 Max... - I'm not sure that it was presented at global market... I know for sure that Redm8i Note 9s is the global version of RN9 (not Max).
Bottom line:
if you find clearly "global version" RN9 Max - and YOU'RE OK WITH NO NFC - go for it. Its advantage over K30 is bigger battery (5020 mAh vs 4500 mAh).
The major advantage of K30 is NFC (and Sony IMX 686) over the Redmi Note 9 series.
The processors (730G vs 720G) are quite on peer (730G has a bit overlocked GPU and that's it).

Well, I love my K30 (however in my particular item the screen goes a little bit into yellow shades).
The great performance, battery life, camera and NFC make it a great choice.
The only thing which is better in Redmi Note 9 series is a bigger battery. In all other K30 is IMHO a bit better.

I purchased k30 which have china rom pre installed how can i flash global rom ( poco x2 firmware) on my Chinese k30???
Is it possible to do so without unlocking my bootloader and installing twrp???
POCO X2
So if I'm using custom ROM on my POCO X2 and just in case if I want to change. Can I revert back to MIUI and still get OTA updates. Will the bootloader status be locked or unlocked? Has anyone tried doing this?

Here's xiaomi.eu website:
https://xiaomi.eu/community/
Chose MIUI 12 dowmloads or MIUI 11 stable ROMs. Then find your device in the firmware list.
Just flash it via TWRP, no "hiding" patches are needed, GPay will work at default.
If you want to back your phone into Poco x2, try these simple solutions
1. Download both fastboot rom for k30 (China) and Poco x2 (global).
2. Extract both ROMs on your computer desktop.
3. Open China rom folder then delete the images folder.
4. Open global rom folder then copy and paste images folder into the China rom folder
5. Flash China fastboot rom, it boot to Poco x2 global rom
I flashed k30 twrp and installed linage os but now stuck in bootloop , I tried installing many roms but same result, pleaseeeee help me

flash fastboot images of poco x2 https://mirom.ezbox.idv.tw/en/phone/phoenix/
boot in miui
reboot to stock miui recovery
format data
reboot to fastboot
boot twrp
flash rom zip
reboot to fastboot
flash fastboot twrp
fastboot boot twrp
reboot to recovery from twrp menu
now boot into os by reboot to system in twrp
one time process i guess!!!
Hi everyone,
I just updated my Redmi K30 Pro from MIUI EU 12.1 20.7.9 (Android 10) to MIUI EU 12.1 20.8.13 (Android 11), and as normal, I flashed the Magisk 20.4 in TWRP again. I find that the root is lost when I boot back into the system.
I searched the Internet and found that Magisk 20.4 dose not support Android 11 yet, I tried canary release (https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/root-android-11-using-magisk-0318066/), still failed.
Does this mean I have to wait Magisk to officially support Android 11?
Cheers

Thank you so much
From everything I can find still not able to root our version of Android 12. You've probably figured that out by now. Was hoping miuimix build would have it built in like their Android 10 builds but no go. Looks like it's just a waiting game now for android 11 root for our device.

Well, root works with this! Thanks again! May give it a few days but will probably will revert back to A10. Unfortunately at some point I still need edxposed which right now is not compatible with A11.
******* From XDA link on edxposed it seems that it should work with Android R(11)...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/development/official-edxposed-successor-xposed-t4070199
Just starting to read the thread. I currently have edxposed canary and Riru 21.3 installed but edxposed is not activating....
This may work, but it may also include malicious stuff in there, and with root permission. Don't ask others if someday you lose control of your phone, or your private data get stolen. Better build that thing yourself.
Got edxposed working but not all of my modules. With root/edxposed things are a little too unstable for me but I'll see if I can fix some things l. If not I will return to A10
,....
Back to A10..... Guess I will try A11 again later...m
Hi all,
Aliexpress sells Redmi Note 11E Pro's unlocked with the global ROM. This apparently removes the NFC ability for the phone.
A question for any users that have bought this phone:
1.Were you able to change to a custom ROM (eg. Arrow OS) and get NFC to work?
2. How did you do this? Did you have to install the China ROM first and then install the Arrow OS Custom ROM?
Having read many of the questions about bricked drives, it's just got me worried.
I'm coming from a Redmi Note 4X - I know but it is such a trooper that only after 5 years it it starting to get sluggish for me so just trying to get a handle on whether anything has changed from when I last flashed a new phone.
Thank you for any and all input to the above.
1. sure
2. No need to install CN ROM. Proceed with the installation of the ROM you want right away.
You can just use the xiaomi.eu ROM and make sure you download the VEUX rom and not the VEUXG as that is only for global devices but if you want something other than MIUI you can do it right away
Pixel experience on 11e pro 5g not working NFC, how working?
