hi.
After I downloaded the latest DSK3 update, I haven't been able to start the update, using either the Recovery & install from the zip file, nor using the appropriate Odin package install.
When I first get into the Recovery menu, before even trying to do anything, I have the following at the command prompt:
#Reboot Recovery Cause is [[BootChecker]RebootRecoveryWithKey]#
Support SINGLE-SKU
File-Based OTA
Supported API: 3
E:unknown volume for path [/odm]
E:unknown volume for path [/vendor]
E:unknown volume for path [/odm]
E:unknown volume for path [/vendor]
# MANUAL MODE v1.0.0#
When I try to "Apply Update from SD Card (I've copied the OTA zip file to the root of my Note 8's SD Card), it appears to start, runs for about 10 seconds or so, a couple of commands are displayed very quickly & then I'm back at the Android Recovery Screen. Nothing has updated.
Still on DSI3.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I like to change theme roms a lot, Sapphire Google Build/HTC Build and JF1.41 RC9/RC33
But i have to put the roms as update1, update2 etc and then rename then before i flash them
I was wondering is there a way maybe a code n the recovery terminal to flash an update.zip not called update.zip
Just a suggestion
iirc, you can specify the update file to flash from the terminal, but i may be wrong; i'll have a look for the command, it's on this forum somewhere.
Echo "boot-recovery
--update_package=SDCARD:foldername/update.zip" > /cache/recovery/command
Reboot phone and hold power + home
Replace foldername with directory of desired update
SDCARD must be uppercase

Just a note that this method does not currently work on the Haykuro builds because the reboot command is "not permitted!"
That is why you must do a manual reboot. As soon as the screen goes black press and hold power + home until it starts the recovery console. It works if you follow that proceedure.
Or alternatively boot to the recovery console press alt+x then enter the commands at the prompt and then type "reboot recovery" without quotes at the end.
just use a file manager to rename before reboot
On this website: http://www.examiner.com/x-8134-SF-G...d-Android-21-update-can-be-manually-installed.
I followed to instructions to update the Droid 2.1 the firmware is 2.0.1 and the build number is esd 56 which i think is required for the update to work. but when ever it try to update the phone in the boot menu i get a message saying.
E: Cant open /cache recovery/command

E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)

Why wont it apply the update?
And if this is a wrong thread please notify me.
Thanks
Fixed
Never mind I figured out that i was using windows 7 and when i rename a file that it takes away the .zip part by itself so i renamed it as update.zip.zip. So on windows 7 when you rename it just rename it as "update."
^^
you can also tell that its still a zip by the handy dandy icon to the left of the file name.
HTC Sensation: Can't install zip from SD card & WiFi "Error" stopped working.
Hello
I recently rooted my HTC Sensation (Pyramid) Z710e using KINGORoot and it was a successful root, unlocked bootlader and got SuperUser.
Security is still on (S-ON) as I don't need or wish to turn this off.
I have tried using CWM recovery 5.8.0.9 but flashing the ROM which was MADE for the Pyramid failed, then I tried using TWRP 2.1.0 but I got the same result, and then I also tried CWM recovery 5.0.2.0 but still the same result (error below).
The problem: When I try flashing a new custom ROM after doing data wipe, cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe it gives me the following error message:
' E: Error in /sdcard/'zipname'.zip
(Status 0 )
Installation Aborted. '
All recoveries downloaded were specific to my phone (obvoiusly) so all were named with Pyramid in them (ex. "twrp-pyramid-2.1.0.img") and so were the custom ROMs, specific to the sensation.
I read something about changing the META-INF File from the new ROM zip to a working META-INF file for the Pyramid but when I tried this it didn't work either, got me an error Status 1 message if I remember correctly.
I'm currently running a downloaded zip of ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) Android 4.0.3 which is like the OS I had before I formatted everything except SD Card. However my WiFi isn't working anymore since I flashed this downloaded ICS zip and what I mean by not working I mean that when you flip the switch to turn WiFi on it flips to On and then to Off again immediately, and in the settings menu it says there's an Error, but that's it. I tried using the Wifix manager app with the code but that didn't work at all.
Any help is greatly appreciated as to what I can do regarding why I can't install a zip successfully from recovery or as to how I can fix my WiFi problem on my Sensation.
Thanks

Flash the boot.img of the rom via fastboot command
The command is fastboot flash boot boot.img
And I suggest to use 4ext recovery since you are on S-ON
Still not working :/
Thank you for the reply
Ok I did what you said, I'm currently trying to get the new latest version of CM12 - Lollipop for my sensation.
And yes I'm using 4ext recovery aswell.
I flashed the boot.img file in my phone and it was a success, however after wiping cache, davlik, and data and formatting all partitions except sd card I go to flash the CM12 ROM but it's giving me a status 0 error again.
Am I missing something?
Here is the log of when I try installing the CM12 zip

1.) Make sure you have at least 4ext recovery v1.0.0.6 RC2 in order to install new ROMs. Otherwise you will very likely get a status 0 error with most ROMs.
2.) I suggest to use CM11 as a daily driver, Lollipop so far has not been stable enough on the Sensation, I had different kinds of problems. Still seems to be a bit experimental to me.
WiFi + ROM (status 0) ~ Problem SOLVED!
Okay, first of all, a huge thanks to everyone that replied and took the time to help me with my problem!
The WiFi problem occurred because I had the incorrect ROM Build name even though it was like the old untampered Ice Cream Sandwich (my stock O.T.A.update ICS was 3.32.x and the one I had downloaded and flashed myself was a stock ICS to bring back my phone's old OS but it was 3.33.x).
The problem of the status 0 error was that at first I was forgetting to flash the Boot.img file in the phone, but then it was because I had version 1.0.0.5 of 4ext recovery not 1.0.0.6 (the latest) as you guys suggested. I can't believe it was that simple but it's solved atleast now and I am infact currently running the latest CM12 Lollipop on my Sensation which looks amazing but since its still unofficial it has a few small bugs.
Once again Thanks all
Happy Devving!
Hello,
I was trying to update my phone(from settings>about phone) and I had no idea that I should not have done that because my phone is rooted; the downloaded update size was small around 12 megabytes as I remember and after restarting it got stuck into android system recovery <3e> (CWM), gave me that error "Installation aborted" and I can't boot into my system again. Unfortunately I haven't backed up my data and when I try to back them up using CWM it gives me this error "Write error, short write!" I tried recovering the backup file later from SD card on PC, it was damaged but I found out that it always crashes at 4 GB file size; I am using a 32 GB memory card and the size of data to be backed up is around 8 GB.
My questions are: Is there any other way to backup my files and applications data before attempting any repair methods?(My main concern) ;even if it was a physical way...
What should I do next?
This is what I have tried so far (without any luck),
- Wipe cache partition
- I tried installing Aroma file manager in CWM mode from SD card but it always gives me the error "Installation aborted".
- Connecting my phone to PC and choosing apply an update from ADB in CWM (The only way my PC can read my phone). I tried then pull, usb and reboot commands but it always gives me a message saying "error: closed". The only command that works is "adb sideload update.zip(Aroma also)" which gives me "Installation aborted" on the phone.
My mobile version is Acer_AV0K0_E39_1.024.00_EMEA_GEN2 (3 sims version)

Hello again,
I am about to try something but I am afraid it might crash my phone even more, so I would love to hear an expert opinion first;
I downloaded the same stock rom as the one in my phone from here (vache-android .com /hubicAcer/E700/OS%20Images/EMEA_GEN2/update_Acer_AV0K0_E39_1.024.00_EMEA_GEN2-sds.zip) and then I am planning to flash using the method in this video to preserve my data (youtube .com/watch?v=b5H6EbaCKrw),and then if this method works and the system booted I am planning to back up my data and applications using titanium back and then do a clean install.
Do you think this might work? If not, What other methods can I try to backup my data?
I was following this tutorial wiki.lineageos.org/devices/walleye/install and I am stuck with sideloading Lineage
I run `adb sideload lineage-17.1-20201013-nightly-walleye-signed.zip` while phone shows "Starting ADB sideload feature" then comes "Installing zip file '/sideload/package.zip'" and then I can see the progress bar below moving, but nothing more, no percentage or more textes or whatever. And it does that now for multiple hours.
Before when I tried it, it stopped completely and the progress bar was frozen.
So I guess something is not working here?! I use Lineage from here, 20201013 download.lineageos.org/walleye
I even cannot push the zip to /sdcard
$ adb push lineage-17.1-20201013-nightly-walleye-signed.zip /sdcard
adb: error: failed to copy 'lineage-17.1-20201013-nightly-walleye-signed.zip' to '/sdcard/lineage-17.1-20201013-nightly-walleye-signed.zip': no response: Success

In a way Iam using TWRP, like in the tutorial. So I start the adb sideloading within twrp, how else could i use it? So how can I put the zip onto the phone to use twrp install?
and when I did the format data wipe, I got the errors
failed to mount '/system' (invalid argument)
failed to mount '/vendor' (invalid argument)

ok I managed to install from OTG usb I again got the error about /vendor, and also "warning no OS installed" before I rebooted, but then I booted into LOS and it seems to work now....
Hi, just wondering if you have any specifics regarding the steps you followed for OTG USB install? I'm new here and I seem to be having a very similar issue with a newer version of the walleye build
