I am currently still rocking my Oneplus One, and it is time for an upgrade. I ordered the Oneplus 7 Pro on black Friday. This is going to be a HUGE step for me, but it was this new version that truly peaked my interests with it supporting usb 3.1 and no ugly notch.
I also have a LG 43UD79-B Monitor which has a USB-C video input. Does the Oneplus 7 Pro's USB-C 3.1 port allow video out so I can connect it to my monitor?
I am not a big fan of face unlock and the fingerprint scanner. I always prefer punching in a pin code. Can I use a pincode... but when I press for the OK button, can I have that be the fingerprint scanner so I get a kind of 2-factor going on there?
Are the current phones shipping with Pie or Q?
I thank you all very much for your time.
Not sure about connecting to a monitor, never even thought to try. Also don't have any screen I could connect to with a cord.
Don't need to use face unlock but I love it with this phone. Very fast. I don't use the FP scanner but I don't think you can use it with a pin for 2 factor authentication. You can have both set up, but it'll either unlock with one or the other.
My phone came with 9. But, using oxygen Updater, I was able tod easily get it to the latest version of A10.

Thank you. I am planning on flashing nethunter as one of the first things to do with my phone, and from my understanding is that it should work without a hitch on Pie, so that is kind of what I am hoping for.

Not sure about video out using USB in...but I happen to have a USB-C to HDMI cable and when I plug it in to my Dennon receiver the video shows up on my TV @720p. The sound is in Stereo. Now I haven't done any playing around to see if the audio can be adjusted to more than plain stereo, but I believe the video out is fixed at 720P which isn't too bad!
Locked at 720p? Ouch, especially since i have a 43" 4k monitor.
Thank you.

I was hoping to be able to use this as a semi desktop replacement at times, so at only 720 on a 43" 4k Monitor, not tv, it will not look very good. Hopefully I can make something work out.

so far I have not read anything about this in the specs...however, I would be very surprised if it is not available (or at the very least be "unlocked)
Google loves puzzles and games. This is evident from their april fools jokes, to more recently the "nexus s challenge"
I can guarantee there will be a whole slew of things that get "opened up/discovered" in the NS. Remember when the N1 came out...now look at it, 720p video, touch focus, fm radio, etc.
After plugging the video out cable into the Nexus S headphone jack, nothing happened. This leads me to believe that it does not support video out in its current state. Perhaps it is there, waiting for some custom firmware magic to wake up
Edit: I also saw no tvout option in the display settings.
I also pluged in a video out cable but didn't get a connection.
anyone success outputing to TV??
maybe by micro USB to HDMI cable??
On the Galaxy S this is something that needs to be enabled.
Following the same pattern the same would be required in the Nexus S.
As someone referred before maybe this is something along like the FM radio on the Nexus one...
I have money 4 anyone who can get this working!

ran out of jacks that support this feature pretty much the same reason why BT 2.1 was used.....
Have got a source for this? I thought that the hardware was there, just a software issue..?
And isn't the mic connection of the 3.5 jack used to run the video?

Don't see that this proves that it can be done via the headphone jack, nor - as an extension - by solder-scared punters in general. Until we see how they did it (ideally headphone, unideally hardwired to motherboard) I don't think that we can tout this as anything more than a promising possibility...
Just found this thread coming from a Google Search...
Still no answer or any clue?
I would be so disapointed if there was no tv-out feature
Phone to TV, DLNA for the moment: iMediaShare, skifta or some similar application.
I've been digging around, the SOC definitely supports simultaneous video out like the vibrant does.
I'm trying to pin point whether or not the Nexus S uses the same headphone hardware as the rest of the Galaxy line. I can't seem to find anything about it. That's going to be the crucial point on whether it can be hacked in or not. My gut tells me samsung used the same parts as it would be most cost efficient way to do so.
The SOC actually supports 1080p over USB => hdmi connection, (the actual USB hardware is probably not in place though, as the only galaxy line that used HDMI is the EPIC and that has a seperate mini HDMI port).
We just need to find an interested dev to jump into the kernels and libraries. Can we say Bounty? I'm down for at least $15, if someone wants to organize the bounty.

This is complete BS is the Nexus S doesn't do TV out! I mean, I had to get over my little crying fit since It doesn't have an external SD slot (like my Vibrant), but NOW since it doesn't do TV out, why should I get the f*@! phone . Is it worth turning in my sweet 'rooted' Vibrant running an awesome NERO v5 rom for the 'Pure Google Experience' I was willing to throw it all away to get my Nexus S, so I can have untethered updates straight from Google, BUT NO TV OUT!!!???!!! I use VR Glasses on my Vibrant to watch movies, surf, and play games, but since Nexus S doesn't support TV out, then F#@* IT!!!
I guess i'll wait if there is a software solution for TV out.

Holy hell. Just stop. Sell your phone and go buy another phone. Be aware of the features of a phone before you buy it. THIS IS NOT A FEATURE PHONE. IT IS A DEVELOPER PHONE.
I destroyed my Acer tablet that I enjoyed very much. The extended warranty company said they will just give me my money back as that is cheaper than repairing it.
Do you guys recommend the Zoom? Any common issues to be concerned about? Does it have a standard USB port?

no it doesnt have a standard usb port like the a500 does, but if you buy a usb otg cable for about $4 the custom rom already have host support so it doesnt quite matter about a full sized standard usb port except maybe the voltage but people here still can use usb drives well anyway. I bought an a500 and it was the biggest piece of poop; hated it.. refunded it and bought another xoom. The manner in which the bootloader is used is awesome if anything buggers out you can manually push files with fastboot which rocks and helps minimize the chances of a bricked device. The ability to unlock said bootloader is quick and painless and this time round i was on a custom rom with the second verizon 3g xoom in about half hour. I know there is debate on people waiting for a prime, or a new model but seriously we will receive ICS and the original xoom is now nice and cheap =].. again though, it is your money and you can do as you please but i am a happy customer and the proud owner of 2 xooms, a wifi only and a 3g+wifi
yep love the xoom but saying that its my first tab so I don't have anything else to compare it too in terms of real use age
However in terms of spec and hardware it is a very capable device, it has USB host mode, up to 96gb memory with a 64gb card, good cpu/gpu combo, good speakers, good cameras, HDMI, decent screen size and OK screen (I am used to amoled) ,decent GPS etc etc
For the money the xoom goes for and the support from this community and hardware/spec you get you can really go wrong
I got mine about two weeks ago and have been enjoying it loads
If you get a good price you can't go wrong
Thanks guys, the only issue I ever had with the A500 is the microphone sucked. Spec wise the zoom and acer are the same except for the USB thing. The zoom has more storage too.
Does the mic work well on the zoom? I used my tablet every day at University and need that part to work for note taking

The mic works very well in my experience. I'm having fun with voice action apps (Iris, Jeannie) and it works better than I had expected.
[just a thought] if the device headphone port can also act as a microphone you can always buy a micro nub microphone from ebay to try and boost volume capture rather than relying on microphone inside the device.. i was gonna grab one for my phone, but most of my lectures weren't assessable ie it was more the skills (as i do forensics) rather than spit out what they said to us

Please note that if you flash the Tiamat Moray 2.2.2 ROM, you can skip step 5 (Rooting) because Moray is pre-rooted, but also remember that when you unlock, your device will be wiped, so back-up everything you can 1st.
Good luck!
I still wonder how it is possible that business devices like the Note 8.0 do not get a range of "pro" accessories from the get go, if anyway...
Does anyone know of some device specific docking station by Samsung or some OEM? Perhaps something has been anounced?
Thank You very much in advance!
Regards, Yoko
I don't know of any device specific, true docking stations, but the following are several types of stands that I've been considering:
http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Portable-Fold-Up-Playbook-IPM-TAB1/dp/B000CKVOOY/ and http://www.amazon.com/IPAD-ST-Universal-Tablet-Stand-Kindle/dp/B0045JNBNU/
http://www.amazon.com/KB-Covers-Stand-iPad-Black/dp/B003VFALEQ/
http://www.radtech.us/products/bluelounge-nest-ipad-tablet-stand
http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-A-Frame-Tabletop-Samsung-Tablets/dp/B003GAJ67Y/
http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Tablets-Readers-including-Samsung/dp/B0064EL2DK/
Thank You for the links, but at least for me one, if not the only reason to get a docking station would be hassle free charging and maybe syncing via USB or MHL linking to a TV, but mainly charging.
Generic devices still force You to plug the tablet in at the right position / angle.
Perhaps it´s only bugging me, but I can not wrap my head around the fact, that any 20$ cordless phone for home use has a charging station and for high end smartphones and "hybrids" like the Note 8 we still have to fiddle around with micro usb cables & plugs until some chinese factory manufactures the first halfway fitting, cheap looking dock six moths after the device is widely available (/rant over)

I understand; that makes sense.
And I hear you regarding the lack of sophisticated docking stations. I wonder if part of the problem is that people are so mobile these days (and thus you're not going to take your docking station with you, most likely) and also quick to upgrade to new devices (in which case your old docking station may no longer have a use)? And if the combination of those two makes for less demand, or at least not enough perceived demand by manufactures to invest in developing the tech?
But I agree with you that it would be very cool to have a docking station that does what you describe.
Samsung's Smart Dock Multimedia Hub (#EDD-S20JWE) for the Note II & S4 "Should" work with the Note 8.0, but I don't know how stable it would be in this dock since it is made for the smaller devices.
I have this dock for my Note II and it works well. As soon as I receive my Int'l Note 8.0 3G (~May 8-11) I will test it and report back.
I'm thinking the following post relates to what @bbfoto is talking about, correct?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244383
^Yes.
I just posted there as well. Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the input guys!
The Samsung Smart dock looks to be the closest to what I have in mind, though as pointed out in the linked thread it does not support the tablet in any considerable way.
I was looking for something more like the Nexus 7 docking station, unfortunately I can not link to images, beeing a newbie and all...
Well, who knows, perhaps sometime in the near future some company will think of (business) users, who simply want to throw their tablet on a perfectly fitting dock while at their desk.
Thanks again folks!

Is the HDMI output the same resolution as the tablet or can it out put at higher res? Id be interested in it if it was higher res as it would make andriod office suites a viable option for me. At the moment I find the resolution hinders its use, especially with spreadsheets (which is what I use the most). From what I can gather it just mirrors the tablets resolution.
I might get one anyway as i like the idea of being able to plug in my PS3 controller via USB and play on some emulators. I find emulator a pain to use with touch controls.

It would be same resolution, just scaled. For example my MHL kit gives 1080p, my miracast kit gives 720p. Same amount of content on screen. Ditto if I use an adapter that only does VGA output.
You can't change that metric.

hello i am looking for a low profile 3.5mm headphone jack IR emitter
i really like this one
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-5mm-IR-Sm...964868?hash=item1c60135884:g:iWYAAOSwuYVWoAqP
i love the design of it and it is the only one i can find ,well one of the only ones i can find with a low profile that does not stick way our and look ridiculous (the other one looks nearly identical and comes witha keychain holder but the edge had rough spikes and it does not have BMW logo looking front face ,but appears to run on the same app ,but says IOS only)
problem i see many similar looking ones ,there are few on amazon that look the same but have different names and different branding, but they all seem to use the same app i guess, limited to only be able to be used with that one app
the other problem is that i see some that say it does not work with android and some that say it does and then the ones that say it works with android say it only works with certain phones
my question is does this work with android and will it work with this tablet? anyone tried one of these yet?
i do not understand why it would work with some phones/devices and not for others
i mean the app should run the same on all phones/ android devices and the 3.55 mm headphone jack can't be all that different from device to to device
but i have seen a bunch of mixed reviews from people saying it is either great or that it sucks and will not even work on any IOS device, i really want this product , i would like to use it on my fire 7 but also on my iphone 5c and i plan on upgrading to a nexus 6p soon so would like to know if anyone has used one of these and has tried it on any of those devices , but primarily right now i wont it for the fire, would be great since 3.55mm is at the top and this is nice and low profile
most of the ebay auctions and amazon ads for these say IOS only , but he app it uses is available for android as well and this one in the link i posted say it does work with android, most other say no android
the fire 7 i feel is a good shot since it does not have any fancy 3.55mm jack maybe the phones that don't work are because their jacks have mic support through the jack?
can anyone figure out why it would work with some phones and not others by looking at the list of supported devices in the link i provided and maybe tell if the fire 7 uses a similar jack as the list of supported devices or one that is the same as the listed devices that are specifically stated as not working?

5 or 6 bucks yes, some are nine or ten, and i know i will be protected by ebay or amazon the thing is that i would like to know if there is a dimes worth a difference between them all and if someone has already had a good experience with a particular one, i am not going to order the 10 or 15 different variations and test them all , just wondering if anyone has one , the fire 7 is a great device to use as a remote i use it for my other sony tv and my receiver both have wifi control apps and for my hue lights ,but there are a couple of things i can't control like my cable box and my old plasma tv

Yeah I see your concern. Good luck in your search, sorry I can't help. Update if you ever figure it out though!
ok my IR emitter came in the mail today ,tested it on my iphone 1st, it didn't work on my panasonic TV but it works on my comcast motorola cable box and my LG air conditioner
then i tried it on the fire tablet ,the device is detected the headphone icon shows in resurrection remix rom
the zaza remote app says not compatible with your device in the app store so i downloaded it through blackmart and it installed
the android version is completely different from the IOS vesion
i tried to set it up to work with the cable box but i had no luck at all
i wonder why it won't work when the emitter is in it shows up as headphones plugged in ,i wonder if this app could be modified to work or if there is another app that works with this particular emitter ,this app kinda sucks a major brand like panasonic should have a working code, i cant even get power button working after going through all codes, the learning feature is useless and the forum is all in chinese, thought i cant see how this little thing could be used to detect IR signals i thought it was just a IR LED, when i try the learning feature it does not always detect the signal from the remote and sometimes it says signal detected when i have not even pressed any button on the remote some times it delays and don't say detected signal for minutes but every time it does and i try to play it back it never works
It is possible the jack on the fire is simply not passing enough voltage or is not passing it consistently enough. Many of these little IR dongles like this include a small button battery and transistor to make them work because of this common issue. Or it could legitimately be an issue with either the fire's hardware/firmware drivers specifically, or all of android in general if there is that much difference between the android and ios versions of the app.
If you don't have enough power for IR LED you can use VIPER4Android to amplify signal.

Hi guys,
Wondering if any one had any suggestions for a compact but solid and reliable gamepad (vice-style) that fits and works well with this phone.
I had a Razer Phone 2 with the Razer Junglecat before this phone and I am used to this quality build - if anyone has ideas would be appreciated.
thanks
I am waiting for the razer kishi to be released : https://www.razer.com/eu-en/gaming-controllers/razer-kishi
It's build in collaboration with the guys from gamevice.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.th...like-mobile-game-controller-gamepad-junglecat
What type of gaming do you do on your phone?
---------- Post added at 11:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:24 PM ----------
Looking at stadia is it any good? Would be good to pair with a game pad like that
This razer kishi is built especially for cloud gaming thanks to its zero latency USB-c connection to the phone.
No Bluetooth required.
Yeah....well the whole reason I wrote this thread is because I am sick and tired of waiting for the Razer damn Kishi to come out....was announced ages ago ...been waiting and waiting too long
I'm also impatiently waiting.
The Glap controller though bulky could probably do the trick. https://www.samsung.com/uk/mobile-accessories/glap-gamepad/

this looks very good!!
Yes it doesnt look that portable (especially as i am used to the jungle cat which took up less space than my wallet!!)
However if i was to get something this big i am a bit fussy with the right analogue stick i prefer it below the buttons just like the Xbox style...this is what i am used to.
I already have one that looks very similar to this as well - the IPEGA PG-9023...it was also a lot cheaper!!
Would the Samsung have much better build quality and lag-free connection?
Also a question - is the Razer Kishi going to be wired only or will there be a Bluetooth option?
I have never used any Ipega products but I have heard that the controllers suffer from analog stick dead zones which are not present in the Glap.
According to the Verge's article, the kishi has no built-in battery. It will use the phones power so it's very unlikely that it will have Bluetooth.
Been looking at reviews on Youtube - the one below looks like a pretty good bet - he says the Coolpad Legacy fits in perfectly and Oneplus 8 Pro has pretty close dimensions to that

According to the Verge's article, the kishi has no built-in battery. It will use the phones power so it's very unlikely that it will have Bluetooth.

Yes you are right they do. the difference between my junglecat and the ipega is so noticable. the junglecat is so responsive......i also have a Moga Hero Power which i think is excellent - however this has now become a legacy product and you cant even get the app on the play store anymore and you need it to connect the game pad - i have to download the apk manually to get it paired...but it is very good!
If the junglecat doesnt have a built in battery then forget it
I've been using the ipega extendible for a while now. I have the Moga pro, out of the two of them i prefer the ipega, plus it was only £20 Vs £49.99
That razer device looks like it's going to fall apart. The ipega is solid, it can hold an iPad.

which razer device are you referring to? I have the junglecat and can confirm it is solid as a rock, zero latency, and the button are perfect.

The one listed. Buttons look good but the middle section doesn't. The ipega is built like a tank.
Latency is extremely low.
I've used a tonne of pads and that's the best one up until now.

First off, calm down ok? Theres no need to act the way you are, alright?
Secondly the one I was referring to was the kishi, it looks like it's going to have problems, the construction of the middle isn't great.
3rd, I've got the ipega extendible, not sure if you've had this one but I do, there are no problems with input lag, depending on how you've set it up, the analogues can be seen as digital, I haven't set mine up like that, no problems with deadzones, I've finished tonnes of games using it
Thats my input, you asked for a vice like controller..is there any need to bash a suggestion? Or talk the way you are? Several ?????? It's childish, you didn't mention what controllers you'd used besides one.
Perhaps you could be clearer when you articulate yourself during thread creation, if you don't like a suggestion then say so, no need to bash it, try to be polite
I'm pretty calm mate ...all good
Yeah i got the extendible as well... joysticks are so far off its a killer for me. All depends on the quality you're used to i guess....IMO u get what u pay for in general and thats why Ipega stuff is so cheap

Good to know you have no issues with your Ipega. That being said, Razer is a gaming company and they have an awesome track record when it comes to some of the best build quality out there.
I use cloud gaming services quite a lot and having the lowest latency means plugging in my computer to a gigabit Ethernet port and using a wired xbox controller.
If you want the best possible experience on android the same applies here, a physical USB-C connection to the phone will always be better than Bluetooth IMO. When cloud gaming, Bluetooth adds an extra layer of latency; with time this will get better but for now that's how it is.
I guess its up to the buyer to determine if the price of the Kishi is worth it

I agree I game on PC, I wouldn't dream of partying using wireless.
That being said I've had no issues with the ipega, perhaps it's unit based, even the 1+8pro has differences between units, green tint, touch lag, camera flares.
If the razer device works for you then stick with that.
If it suits your needs the the price is collateral
