Just looking to see if there are any plans to add the SmartNav options to any of the Custom ROMs out there? On my 1+6, most - if not all - ROMs had the SmartNav option. I loved that feature as you were able to expand your NAV bar to whatever you wanted.
If there are no plans to add it, or if there are issues now that we're on 10, is there any other option to get something like this installed. I've searched around and havent' really found anything that does exactly what I'm looking for. And I am in no way a developer so I dont know how to build a custom ROM on my own (would love to learn tho!).
Anywho, thanks for any info provided.

XPosed & Modules: "Feature Enhancements" good enough to return to stock rom...?
(if this thread is missplaced please apologize and move it - I think this could take some space and I didnt want to clutter the xposed thread with it)
Henooy guys,
I'm using a Galaxy Note N7000 and since the day I had my first custom rom on my phone (think it was aokp-based) I never wanted to go back to stock.
But now with XPosed Framework and all those modules aiming at replacing all the cool custom-aosp rom tweaks, has game changed?
On Samsung devices for example, you miss out quite a lot of nice features (while gaining others even cooler obv) by using aosp-based roms like no working TV-Out, no multiwindow, no one-hand mode, etc.
So I was wondering if I could get the same experience / features as with one of the "all in one roms" (I'm using rootbox 4.2 atm which has like 100s of customization options) with a stock samsung rom by tweaking things with xposed modules?
Here are a few points that interest me especially:
How about performance hits with heavy xposed customization vs "built-in" customizations of aosp based roms?
How good are the UI customizations like setting color and transparency of status bar and icons etc?
How about Halo / Apps in Floating windows? (yea there is the module, but how good or bad is it compared to "real" halo? or does it work just like it?)
Is there a module to use CM themes? (or is there some other easy way nowadays to "copy" a cm theme to the system framework? I have BlackedOut theme with everything black n white including certain apps, and would really hate to miss out on that)
---
Well it mainly boils down to: How well do the xposed modules implement all those tweaks that the custom roms offer out of the box? And how does performance compare?
I did so much tweaking to my system, and I flashed soooo often already lol, so I'd rather hear some opinions before changing everything again. =)
I'm sure I'm not the first one asking himself this question...?

No youre not
Well, i can tell you this, i also have a N7000 and have already flashed: SweetRom, VengeanceNote, Stunner2 (great!!) and paranoid3....
The problem is i really like the stock features...but hate the "greenish" colour and the damn statusbar......so... i did two things...
1- Installed the AMAZING aroma themes collection by kmokhtar79 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480358&highlight=aroma)
2- Installed xposed framework and started twiking little things...like disabling clear defaults dialog ...or the battery low alert, the increasing ringtone, the storage warning....and the samsung keyboard delay...
So far...its awesome...and because it work on the things that "are already there" instead of bringing NEW stuff....well there should be no battery drain whatsoever...
Or at least in the case of THOSE modules.... thing my differ from module to module...but if i understood correctly...xposed framework works on what already IS in there...so...should be the same...
Anyway...with those 2 things my stock(-ish?) note is awesome.
Good evening,
I've been running stock ROM pretty much since day 1 with Xposed+GB to get all the eye-candy features, however i recently noticed that this framework causes my overall system to be "unstable" (random "flashes" on status bars & alike) and my battery drains very much faster with it activated. Add it to the fact i cannot use ART and - well - i'm not too keen to use it any further.
What can i do then to have stock rom's stability with some added features?
Browsing this section i found various flashable mods (like center clock and custom battery icon) and these would be the perfect deal for me, so i was wondering if there was anything for the following points, which are the only things i'm really missing from Xposed:
-quick unlock. Having to press enter after the PIN really annoys me.
-immersive mode to hide navigation bar
-PIE control.
That's pretty much it, these are the only features i'm really after but can't seem to find anything around, I don't know if i just overlooked them or i'm just blind (why not abit crazy). But here is where you come in!
TLDR: help.
Thanks
Regards,
Daniel

I'd recommend Minimus, it has all the necessary features and well, it's very minimal lol stable and is able to run ART, or "stock with goodies" is another good one also and just came out about 2 days ago i think
Managed to get rid of navbar by using a buil.prop command and using LMT launcher as PIE right now, absolutely flawless.
Still missing the quick unlock though, if anyone knows a mod/app or what else which achieves it don't hesitate to post it here!
What features you would find useful that you'd also like to see in a ROM? Think more on the clean side so no features like AdBlock, App animations, toast animations, etc.etc.etc.. Who knows? Maybe a ROM like this may come out in the next month...
The main things for me are CyanogenMod's PrivacyGuard and the brigness/double tap to sleep status bar features. All the other things are just icings on the cake.
I know is a dumb question but, Is it possible to show the download speed when downloading? Cyanogenmod roms have this feature but I wonder if I can add that feature to a custom rom. I have a nexus 5 running cataclysm 6.0.1
Try this:
Network Monitor Mini - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.kfsoft.android.TrafficIndicator
I have the Pro version, which I think adds a few more customisation options such as the positioning of the up/down figures in the middle of the status bar, which is very convenient. It can be widely configured - position, text size, colour, no show when inactive, etc. I'm very happy with it.
Edit: added screenshot. The up & down figures can be configured to have U & D in front of them - I don't have that option enabled.
Or you can install Xposed and a module that adds a very neat indicator in the status bar - it's called Network Speed Indicator.
Thanks for your replies. I found another custom rom with this feature :good:
I just noticed the ROM I have installed on my phone (Bootleggers) most likely died (their website isn't up anymore, there's no new threads about it, their GitHub/Sourceforge didn't have any recent activity at all etc.). I chose this ROM because of some neat features it had. And, that's the reason I'm asking this question today.
The features I want to have might be stupid for others, but they make me choose a ROM over another one and since I don't really have the time I had before to go through every ROM I see with support for my phone, I am asking everyone for their personal preferences.
A ROM for me must have (from the most to the least important):
- Must be de-googled/have a de-googled variant
- Support for signature spoofing (this is needed because I will use microG to actually keep getting notifications on my phone)
- Include as little proprietary programs as possible (yeah, I know Bootleggers didn't really do that), preferably only include open source apps (I don't care if they're fully free software or something, they can be anything open source and a little bit more privacy-minded without tracking or anything than others, I am willing to make some small sacrifices but I want to use as many open source programs as possible)
- Over the air updates (I think all have that but I'll still specify)
- Must be the latest version of Android
- Work profile/Shelter support (but I think that absolutely everything nowadays has that)
And now come the least important things, but ones that will still make me choose a ROM which has them over one which doesn't:
- It would be nice if the default apps looked modern, and maybe also had consistent theming, preferably one that syncs to the theming you do in the Settings app
- Smart Pixels (turn off a certain percent of pixels to save some power/reduce brightness even further to some degree)
- Always on screen
- Changing colors, fonts, QS tile styling, theming in general, the more the better, and here come the things I really really want:
- The 'CRT' lock screen animation
- The 'Type' lock screen clock (the one where instead of showing 10:19 it writes 'It's Ten Nineteen')
So, yeah, I'll be glad to hear all of your suggestions! Or, if anyone still knows anything about what happened to Bootleggers I'll really want to know
You can try Dot OS with similar features. I am sure you will like it.
