bought Chinese version of the OnePlus 7 on Amazon with the GM 57aa firmware - OnePlus 7 Questions & Answers

is GM 57aa firmware compatible with visible Mobile in the USA? I bought a Chinese version of the OnePlus 7 on Amazon and it has the GM 57 AA firmware flashed on it. Is it compatible with visible Mobile in the USA? I know compatibility for visible was on 9.5.8 on the pro. Did the apns make their way to the 9.5.8 oneplus 7 gm57aa source code?

I am using the same phone, GM1900 GM57AA on Cricket (AT&T) in the US. Uses LTE band 2. I have not flashed BA builds yet and have no idea if it will "unlock" any other bands (17 mainly) but have had no issues. I live in NE GA.

I am also using the GM1900 and I have the AA software. On T-Mobile and I have no problems with my phone.

I have the OnePlus 7 Pro and on the 9.5 .8 firmware it finally got visible support which is Verizon. But on 10.0 firmware it stopped working because they forgot to put the APns in. On 10.0.1 it started working again. This is why I was wondering if the gm57aa firmware had it being that it wasn't the unlocked firmware for a USA global phone. The OnePlus 7 was meant for other countries and not for the USA where visible is located. see on the OnePlus 7 Pro when you put the visible Sim in it locked the APN area out so I could not enter any APNs.

I'm on gm57aa and as I took a look I can go in and add APNs to my list if I want to.

I'm not sure if that really helps because if I seem to remember before I put the visible sim in my 7 pro I could add APNs but when I put the visible Sim in I was unable to add APNs.

I can add APNs as well. Although I did not have to, I just put in sim and apn was added automatically and everything just works.

You have Visible mobile?

No, sorry, I'm on cricket, which is att. A GSM carrier. You may have to call your provider to add this phone, they have to "unlock" it on their Network.

How's it going now, since you have had for a few months? I just ordered the 12gb China version and am hoping/expecting it to run on T-Mobile fine.... Thanks.

I have had no problems running phone on T-mobile.

WiFi Calling and VoLTE

Hi guys! I got OnePlus 6 (my first OP device) and I saw that on 5T there's WiFi Calling and VoLTE, but on OP6 is not and I couldn't find options to activate. I came from S8+ and I have both of them. Do you know something? There will be some updates about this? Thanks!
In your sim card/network settings in the op6 you should be able to find the option and enable them. With the networks I’m on I found I was able to do this.
That strongly depends on your carrier and the country you live in. In Germany, for example, VoLTE does not work with T-Mobile or Vodafone. In the US it does (T-Mobile).

Than you are the only person with german SIM and VoLTE working on OP6. In german Android Forum is a thread several pages long, where many people complain that OnePlus does not support it with a german SIM. Also the answer from an official ticket at OnePlus they answered they have no agreement with a german carrier.

Has it worked out of the box for you ?
I am in USA and looking to activate TMobile wifi calling and volte but don't see it in settings? Normally it's just there after I put my sim in past phones

Did you buy it from EE or from another carrier?
O2 has it in stock unlocked because it's dual sim, should work with ee?
Thank you

What carrier are you on? I'm on AT&T, so I don't have the option. I had to install the VoEnabler module via magisk. After a reboot the options are there, and working.

5.1.6 improves volte so that may help it has just started rolling out
It you font have this function in your SIM settings, just dial *#800#, then tap "oneplus Logkit", "Function Switch" and then tick VoLTE and VoWIFI Switch, reboot and voila...
Worked in Israel on Golan Telecom. I wonder why these options were invisible in the first place.
In Romania we have 2 carriers which support Volte, oneplus software dont have settings for it , i make to works for me like this its not my credit , i just found it on a german forum and it works like a charm :
https://android-hubo.de/thread/8127...te-vowifi-freischalten-de-ohne-root/?pageNo=1
1. MAKE a backup of the EFS partition over TWRP or ADB, and put it on safe place on computer or a cloud etc.
2. The Magisk module, must be installed: VoLTE / VoWiFi - Magisk modules
3. Install on your computer
Qualcomm QPST Diag x64 driver
QPST_2.7.460
4. Now you connect your mobile phone to the computer via a "USB cable"
5. Open the phone app and enter this code *#801#
6. Now a new menu appears and switches on "Serial" and "Full-port switch"
7. Start the program: "PDC" and connect it to your device
8. Right-click on "Oversea-Commercial_DS" under "Deactivate" and select "Sub0" and "Sub1"
9. Now press again on "Oversea-Commercial_DS" and below on Remove
10. Now select "India-VoLTE-Vodafone", right-click and select "SetSelectedConfig" "Sub0" and "Sub1"
11. Now press again on " India-VoLTE-Vodafone " and below on Activate
12. After you have done everything, restart the device!
Cricket USA
hi, i do the setup and now appear the function, look good for cricket, good trick!!
This one works flawless. Volte and wifi calling working now with both symbols appearing in status bar.

LTE not functioning on AT&T

I've changed access point to the right settings and I still only get HSPA connection. I've searched other things online but nothing. Spoke to 3 reps. It says that LTE bands are supported so how do I get the best settings to get things running right? I've conveyed to international and the phone is totally unlocked. Sim and bootloader both. Am I missing something?
Thanks.
I'm currently visiting my wife in the USA and LTE is working fine for me on my 7 Pro 5G. Google the APN settings.

I did. I think maybe since it's not 5G version perhaps. At any rate I've gotten a fix the rep did.... Activated on another device like galaxy s10 then put back into my phone. I have LTE now since we've tricked the system
Also They are telling me they need to enter the imei range for all oneplus 7 pro phones which takes about 2 weeks. So hopefully the system won't figure out I'm using something other then S10 ?

Rubbish perhaps but that's what they've told me and until the rep did the trick to my sim, only got 3G. Maybe this temporary thing will be perm since he said for his Android the system thinks it's iPhone 7
I'm on AT&T with my OnePlus 7 pro and out of the box with my sim it works like a charm.
Currently "VOLTE" is displayed on top of the phone and I'm getting good data speeds (will post shortly)
I'd say something wrong on your sim or account end.

Same here. I got my 7 Pro (US unlocked version - not 5G) on June 10. Simply put my AT&T SIM in, and it works perfectly on LTE. Did not need to enter APN info, or anything.

That is pretty good of the rep to work out some solution. They could have just said "We don't support your device."
Over the years, I have used several international phones on AT&T. The issue is if you establish a new line on a new sim card, lte must be "provisioned" (their term not mine).
To provision the new sim card for lte, we need to put it into an AT&T branded phone first to activate the lte, or call customer service and give them an imei from an AT&T branded phone. Once the sim card is provisioned for lte it can be moved from phone to phone no problem.
For that reason, I still keep my AT&T Galaxy Note 2 around. Anytime I get a new AT&T sim card, I put it into the Note 2, wait until I see it has lte service then it's good to use in any international phone.

Unable to choose 5G in preferred network type

Hey.
I just got my OnePlus Nord yesterday and was looking forward to test 5g connectivity. I am, however, not able to choose 5g as preferred network type. The only options I have are as shown in the attached picture.
I tried to follow some solutions for the OnePlus 8 found here: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/no-5g-option.1236228/#post-21689243
When enabling NR/LTE/TDSCDMA/GSM/WCDMA (after *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone) I am able to make the settings show I have enabled 5g(see attached image), however, the option is not selectable after pressing to change preferred network type. This is lost when rebooting the Phone, and the setting is set as 2g/3g/4g
I have confirmed with my carrier that 5g is activated and should be working on a Phone that is supporting 5g. I have also tried upgrading my software to 10.5.3. I can confirm that I am in a 5g supported area, as shown in the attached image.
Any ideas? Thanks

I have the EU version! I live in Norway.
Over here it works.
I live in the Netherlands and I'm running 10.5.4 btw.
I figured out my problem! Even through my carrier is supporting 5g, they are not, for some reason, supporting 5g/VoWIFI/VoLTE for OnePlus Nord.
In an email today they also wrote they would never support it, however, one of our newspapers have been in touch with OnePlus, who confirmed support for my carrier is on the way.
For any one else living in Norway, the carrier is Telenor/Talkmore.

Yep, same thing for Happybytes. Telenor claims it is OnePlus not having an agreement with them as well.
I have however managed to get VoLTE and VoWIFI working with the logkit hack. However I have not gotten 5G working with a hack yet.
5G is pants in London
Really low speed on 5G in the square mile in London in Three UK.. And no connection at all in Stratford to many users using 1 cell tower I expect.
NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA enable only

Question Sim card not detected on any custom rom I try.

For whatever reason, no matter what custom rom I flash on my LE2115, they don't detect my sim card. Is there anyone that may have solved this issue?

I'm in the same boat with mine. It's with the OTA Android 12 updates though. I can't get it to pick up my sim. I was LE2115 then I had to rollback to Android 11 and now my phone sys it's LE2117. Don't know the difference but also I don't have an option for 5G in my settings. I'm on Verizon network. I think that might be my issue of the sim not showing up. WBU? What network are you on?

I'm on Verizon. Turned out a few more factory resets and a couple more Rom reinstalls, it fixed itself. My phone says it's a le2113, even though it's a 2115. May be a Rom issue
I keep getting that as well , Its only taken me a few times putting it in and out and just a reboot. That's only on oos 11 tho every time I flash 12 my touchscreen just flat out does not work and I have to use a keyboard and mouse.
And well now I am right there no sim ;D
I keep trying the updates the latest I think C40 was the same issue for me. No data connection. This sucks. A flagship phone but you can't use flagship features. I don't even ham an option in my setting to use 5G when it's in the name OnePlus 9 5G. I loved my OnePlus 8T but I might be heading back over to Google and try out the Pixel 6 if this issue can't be resolved soon.

Question AT&T 5G - TS said it's possible?

Hey all,
With the 9 being on AT&T's approved list, I called it and asked if was possible to enable 5G on it and get things provisioned. CS and TS both looked at it and said everything's set up on their and and it's enabled on my SIM. Of course, 5G isn't a selection for radios.
I can "sort of" manually enable it in the engineering menu. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. And forcing it with the Network Guru (or whatever it was I saw in another forum) didn't seem to work either. However, I saw that there were people getting the Pixels working on 5G in countries where it was available but the phone wasn't supposed to work.
I'm running on the global rom. Does running the EU version have the option?
AT&T blocks it by IMEI number. It can't be overridden, people have tried and failed.
So. Theoretically I could put my fiance's daughter's Mint Mobile SIM in my OP9 to see if the 5g picks up, to test that?

Mint is T-Mobile. T-Mobile doesn't block 5G by device.
