Hey Everyone. So I just received my unlocked 7 Pro from OnePlus' website, and trying to use it on T-Mobile. Took my SIM card out of my Pixel 2 XL and popped it in. Noticed when I first powered on at the beginning of setup, there is no cellular signal. Went through setup and still no signal. Even updated to 9.5.13.GM21AA and STILL no signal. It's weird because it detects the SIM card in slot 1, and even shows my phone number on the SIM, but shows Network as "Unknown" and "Disconnected, Radio Off, etc." Same exact thing on SIM slot 2. The correct APN is selected and everything. SIM still works perfectly fine in my 2 XL. Even tried a friend's T-Mobile SIM card, and the same thing. It detects the number, but no signal. Did I get a lemon? Don't think it's the SIM since I tried two different ones, and my current one still works in my 2 XL.
TL;DR
Cellular network not working even though it detects the SIM card. Does this sound like a hardware issue? Already got a RMA number to send it back, but if it's a simple fix, I'd rather do that instead of having to ship it out and wait a week to get a replacement.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
have you registered to network or dialed *#*#4636#*#* are you rooted or no different options to take the project fi - t apn makes my whole network setting disappear lol i fixed it google dont play nice
i have the same issue now with my 7Pro, did you manage to get it fixed?

Hello all,
The problem phone is my girlfriend's Nexus S (9020a) with the following details:
ROM: Slim_ICS_4.0.4
Radio: NO DGSXXKB1
Kernel: [email protected] #3
Her phone cannot connect to a mobile network. I've tried rebooting, I've tried cycling with airplane mode, I've tried reflashing the ROM, changing the Radio, changing the Kernel. Nothing worked - still no connection.
My phone is another Nexus S. I was under the impression that connecting with the provider was controlled by the SIM card, so to verify that her SIM card worked, I popped it into my phone. It works like a charm. This led me to believe that it was her hardware, so I popped in my working SIM card into her phone, and it works too! In fact, from her nexus S (with my sim card in it), I can call my handset (with her sim card in it), and the call goes through.
I think this rules out her sim card being faulty, as well as her hardware, and considering I've tried changing roms, radios and kernels, I think the software isn't the problem either but I can't be sure.
Her IMEI number matches the number under the battery, and I've double checked that the APN is correctly set up for her phone.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.
Werm.
Read the radio guide in development there's a part about getting your 3g connection back. This happens to my gfs phone once and it was a pain to figure out. But I believe the phone is not connecting to the right service I.e. gsm.

iu suggest you get a new sim card for your gf, since your card worked and hers didn't. it didn't cost me anything.
Hello, I bought a SIM card from straight talk hoping to use it on my merge because I have seen people online that says I can do that as long as i have my SIM card unlocked. But after I got the card activated and put it in my phone it don't work. I try changing to GSM and using their APN but I have no signal, the mobile network just stays unchecked and I cannot check it. After a few minutes my phone suggests switching over to global mode and i do have mobile signal then but still no connection with anything. I called the straight talk woman and she told me it only works with AT&T or T-Mobile phones but it just don't make any sense to me that you have to have one of those previous carious just to get them as a new carrier? Am I missing something here?

Thanks to the helpful people over at 2fastroms and their quick response I found out that you have to have the 1.06.00.0910 verizon radio flashed to your system. You have to install the radio in the boot-loader and not the recovery menu, it took me a minute to figure that one out. Just informing anyone that has the same problem as me because I could not find it anywhere else on the web. Anyway credit to jianC for the help.
I picked up a mint verizon s3 local on a trade for some scrap phones I had. So here is my issue. I put in a sim(at&t) and got the switch to global notification but it never gets signal. Phone info shows -120dbm 99asu. Figured since it was free I would play with it and installed hyperdriver rls 16 still nothing. Took everything back to the first stock ics nothing. Currently have it on jb 4.1.1 nothing. I started to wonder if the radio was trashed so I dialed 911 with no sim in the phone and it popped up 3 bars and made the call.
Am I wrong in thinking this phone will work on US networks with a sim? Anyone ran into this problem possibly can maybe point me into a direction to get it working. The phone is clean and not blacklisted and it reads the different sims I have put in it I just can't get any signal to pull up other than an emergency call. I know there is signal my s4 is on the gsm network sitting right next to it.
Thanks in advance, I have been searching since yesterday for a solution.
****update.....Went ahead and took it to 4.1.2 stock and happened to find an old verizon sim. Phone picks up verizons network without issue. Still nothing when using the at&t sim.
It isn't working for AT&T because you haven't set up the appropriate APNs for that network. Google AT&T APNs. Reboot after making the changes. CHECK FOR TYPOS!

I thought I would at minimum show signal even without adding the apn. From everything I have read its talk ready just inserting the sim. Will look at adding apn's this morning.
Final update. Still no joy on getting it to work and I listed it for sale.
There's a thread about getting vzw s3 to work on T-Mobile, I'd imagine you'd need to follow a similar process. And FYI, all phones will call 911, sim, no sim service, no service, they'll call 911. My niece was playing with one of my sisters old, no longer connected phones. All of the sudden police and ambulances showed up. She had dialed 911, they tried to return the call unsuccessfully so they used the phones GPS info and showed up at the house.

I'm posting this as a new thread because of all of the answers that contradict my experience in similar threads. I took a Verizon SCH-I535 set to 'global' to T-Mobile to have a GSM SIM put in. Even the Verizon customer service said that switching to a GSM card would work as the phone is not locked.
I also took an SCH-I545 in and switched SIMs without any problem. The APN data was reset automatically and my old number was ported over to T-Mobile. All was good.
However, when they put the T-Mobile SIM card (and we tried 3 different SIMS) in the SCH-I535, the T-Mobile APN entry showed up, but the T-Mobile network won't recognize the SIM card. Since they had also transferred the number from Verizon to T-Mobile, even returning the Verizon SIM card is useless. The phone can't make or receive calls on either network. I don't think I can get Verizon to reset the number back to Verizon even temporarily since I am a couple days past-due on my bill and VZW won't give you ANY help until you pay past-due amts (won't have the check for a week ).
Any suggestions? I need an exploit to break the "non-existent" SIM lock so I can return the T-Mobile SIM to the phone and have it recognized.

Have you tried changing the apn settings? It may be defaulting to the VZW network

Thanks for the response, but I called T-Mobile's tech services at 611 and (unlike years of dealing with VZW doofs with technical IQs approaching that of a stale Cheez Doodle) immediately got a highly knowledgeable techie. When I was in the store and the SIMs they tried didn't work, I pleaded with them to call tech support, but they insisted that it was the phone's fault since they tried multiple SIMs. Seems that, when T-Mobile (or at least this store) breaks a SIM out of its cardboard holder, but doesn't actually sell it, they simply tape the SIM back to the card and consider it cherry. When I got home and called the techie, he had me read him the SIM id and it turned out it had been tried out before and was still associated with the other cellphone (probably true also with the other "recycled" SIMs they tied. I read him my APN numbers and it turned out that the only problem there was the original name, which should be "T-Mobile" (it was slightly different).
He got the store's number from me, called somebody at the store, told him exactly what to do to get the phone working, and told me to go back within half an hour to get a brand-new unsullied SIM. I edited the APN name, he put the SIM in and - voila!
The onlyl problem I'm having now is that, though I was able to set up my T-Mobile mailbox for my Galaxy 4 with it automatically defaulting to a long-press of key 1 (or dialing 123 and hitting the call button), on the Galaxy III, the mailbox was set up, but a long-press on key 1 calls the non-functioning Verizon voicemail, and there is nothing in the stock system to allow you to edit the quick-dial assignment for button 1 (yes, I removed the Verizon voice-mail app and stuff down at root level). So, I set up button 2 to quick-dial 123 and now button 2 is my long-press voicemail button. Weird - I need to dig a bit more into the innards and find a way to clear the first button assignment - maybe set in build.props???
So, the phone was not at fault and T-Mobile's tech department was a revelation in totally unexpected competence and depth of knowledge (unexpected after 26 years with VZW), but the three people who mucked around with the phone at the retail store are not only proof that we descended from ape-like ancestors, but that many of us are still descending .
Thanks again.
will be on phone with AT&T in the morning or via chat with them. I have no access to my mobile data. no explanation, just stopped working. went into my settings for both SIM cards as I have data on both actually, but SIM 1 is the primary one and designated one. Switching settings made no difference. Had it look for network automatically says it's joined already but it's not. no connection, no internet, no Google now, email, nothing. confirmed with AT&T that my data plan is not messed up and still on my account. Was driving and it was end of night so rebooted phone, did not resolve, going to call tomorrow. (As if I have the time but I missed messages I needed to deal with on my break that came in personal email that can't be accessed at work). any suggestions with APN settings I might be missing or something? This is random and weird. Unless somehow data has an outage but you'd think the rep would have told me that. But this needs to be resolved! Don't know if it's AT&T or a phone setting. Was working fine until this morning! Love the phone! anyone? BTW: I just logged on to my account and have an idea: My SIM 1 is from my Note 3 but my account is reflecting that my device is now showing as unknown, so I wonder if this is what is going on. hmm. I'm still getting phone and text messages though. I guess I'm just going to register my SIM 1 now over too as well. maybe that's the issue. my SIM 2 is fully registered to the Pure XL. I guess I'm going online chat tomorrow again. Also, 4G is not showing up now as an available option under network choice either. So I wonder then if it's an outage issue but it's almost midnight here. Will have to chat tomorrow at work somehow with tech support. It's not the issue though with the SIM card from the Note 3 being the cause because SIM 2 is registered under the Pure XL and has a separate data plan, and that one is not working either when I try to temporarily make SIM 2 the data SIM slot. So it must be an AT&T issue. Will have to wait until the morning.

Well, I have learned it is a twofold issue, but importantly, all CARRIER RELATED, not phone related thank goodness. Phone is perfect
1. AT&T did a roving sweep and discovered that my IMEI on SIM 1 was no longer matching, so it turns out that my using the Note 3 SIM was in fact, an issue. I have since had the SIM re-provisioned with the IMEI for SIM 1 now on the Pure XL.
2. However...it turns out that AT&T in my area is in fact having major data network outage problems and that explains why I was unable to log on yesterday even with my properly provisioned SIM 2. And the network is in fact, STILL OUT. So I am still unable to access mobile data and it has NOTHING to do with the phone. It's AT&T all the way. Right now-the network is down. Okay-fine-that happens-they'll fix it. If you call 611 there's an alert saying that. I know stuff happens. That explains why I was getting the weird readouts yesterday that were only showing 2G and 3G on the network. (and I still wasn't getting any connection to data anyway).
So that's what the issue is. The network has been down though more than a day which is ridiculous. They really need to fix that or pro-rate that on our bills then! I'm unable to access personal email from work and rely on my phone and this is a long stretch of time to be offline so they really need to get on the stick and fix this!

Fortunately the network is up again by 12 noon. Getting LTE just fine on newly re provisioned SIM 1 card.
