you should flash twrp again after step 4, otherwise you will face yourself in stock recovery and you won't be able to flash magisk afterwards.

Had the same issue. You have to be on a TWRP meant for android Q.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/how-to-flash-twrp-magisk-android-10-t3988213
Follow this guide for TWRP, if it doesn't boot after using the slightly different ADB command they have, flash 9.0.9, do a local upgrade to A10 through OOS updater, then boot into the TWRP I linked, and then optionally (not neccessary, but going to 10 from 9 without a clean install felt wrong for me), do a clean install of A10 by doing wipe cache, data, and system, and then installing/flashing the A10 zip.
Once installed, don't reboot to system yet, instead see what A/B slot you're in, switch to the other slot that you're not in currently (maybe you have to boot to system first, and then reboot into android 10 twrp through ADB if that doesn't work), and flash magisk and reboot to system. I'm not sure if step #8 is neccesary, but if it is and your device isn't booting, boot into TWRP through ADB and switch into the other A/B slot.

Just to be clear, you used TWRP 3.3.1-x blu_spark v9.107 from the Github link? I ask only because I currently have TWRP 3.2.3-x blue_spark and I want to make sure that the 3.3.1-x is for Android 10.

Yes use "twrp-3.3.1-x_blu_spark_v9.107_op6.zip"

To be honest, we now got to the point where it's as simple as "Just use the latest Blu.Spark TWRP and do as usual" haha, everything works as it should now !

Thanks for the tutorial.
It's works.

So I need to update from 9.0.2 before following the tutorial or can I jump straight to 10.0.1?

Any recommendations for stable oos 10 rom?

Haven't flashed yet but I've heard magisk 20.1 doesn't work and Android 10, is it working for anyone here?

Currently on Oos 10.0.1 with magisk 20.1 with no issues whatsoever.
Did standard dirty flashing with blu spark twrp 9.107.
Tapatalk'ed over the intertubes from my awesome enchilada

So i tried to follow the guide, but after i installed the full OOS rom, then install TWRP again, it said unsupported android version, and it went downhill from there... I ended using msmtool to recover, maybe it's cuz i used a 10.0.1 rom?

Upgrade to OOS 5.1.6 from 5.1.5 using unofficial TWRP

I am using the Oos 5.1.5 and running unofficial TWRP 3.2.1-0 (i think, but sure its the unofficial build). I am rooted using magisk 16.4.
I want to upgrade to oos 5.1.6 using the zip file and also be rooted and also upgrade to twrp official version for oneplus 6 (if its better than unofficial).
So i want to upgrade to oos 5.1.6 using the twrp through the oos zip file.
If its possible please guide me. Btw i dont want to lose twrp or root or magisk......
Thank you in advance.....
I have upgraded my device using vpn for my phone now frequently freezes after so.e time of usage. I need to than power off and on the phome again.
You will lose twrp, root and magisk when you upgrade - it is unavoidable because of how the A/B partitions work. However , it's easy to get back.
There are multiple how-to guides in the Guides forum. Here's one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/how-to-update-oos-5-1-6-install-t3801822
Just download the full zip locally. Flash it in twrp. Boot into fastboot. Flash twrp boot img through adb command which boots you into temporary official twrp. Then flash the official OP5 twrp zip which your can find through Google. Reflash magisk.

Bootloop with OOS 9.0.3 on OP6 when magisk v18 is installed

Installation steps are as follow when updating from 9.0.2 to 9.0.3.
Flashed full zip from bluspark twrp
Immediately flash bluspark twrp zip after that
Reboot into recovery
Flashed Magisk v18 zip (Also tried v17.3 zip)
Reboot system
After that, boot animation is shown and followed by Shutting down dialog with my wallpaper behind it, then rebooted into TWRP itself. I cannot reboot into system until I flash full zip again, but I lost my root now. Above steps were used when I update from older version to 9.0.2 and it was ok at that time. Bluspark latest stable (3.2.3) was used. Any idea how to fix please? Thanks.

flash magisk uninstaller, then reinstall magisk v18 and add one module at a time to understand which one causes bootloop
It worked. Thank you!
Just a heads up next upgrade: disable all (except ROMs maybe) magisk mods, also disable substratum themes before updates. They can make your phone bootloop or system UI crash. Glad it works fine now
For me, flashing magisk uninstall and reinstalling v18 still didn't work. I had to install beta version 17.3 after flashing the uninstall, then I installed magisk manager when it successfully booted and finally updated to v18 through the manager. Not sure why v18 wouldn't work even after flashing magisk uninstall, but 17.3 worked.
I also had this problem on a fresh OS install. Had to install:
Magisk 17 then
Magisk 18 then
Magisk 19
This is a crazy bug

Have you tried magisk uninstaller and fresh start without any module? In my case one of my custom made module was causing problem because i didn't update it to latest template. Try one module at a time to find the culprit.
You need to disable all magisk modules before doing system update, otherwise it goes in auto shutdown and then you need to flash magisk uninstaller and then re-flash magisk
And remember to remove pin/password lock too

Can't root after full 9.0.4 installation

I have installed incremental upgrades for 9.0.2 and 9.0.3 and been able to do a TWRP less root using Magisk. For the upgrade to 9.0.4 I downloaded and installed the full upgrade. Following installation of oos_9.0.4_patched_boot.img, my phone reboots to recovery so I am unable to load Magisk. So I have to reinstall oos_9.0.4_stock_boot.img and stay unrooted. I can't find a similar problem - am I unique? Any solutions?

My apologies for the late reply. I'm not heavily into these things so I was reluctant to go into TWRP. So I ended up resetting my phone and now it all roots quite happily. But thanks for the ideas.

Thank you guys, I am following below steps from Funk Wizard guide, I hope it works:
1. Reboot to TWRP (Latest Bluspark recommended)
2. Take a Nandroid of your existing ROM just in case you need it
3. Flash the latest Full OOS Zip
4. Flash the TWRP installer Zip
5. Reboot to RECOVERY to make sure TWRP stays and continue to root.
6. Flash Magisk Stable to maintain root (Avoid Beta)
7. Reboot System and Enjoy the latest firmware without any data loss

TWRP on Android 10

After recently bricking my Oneplus 6 by trying to flash the latest TWRP on the latest Android 10 OTA from Oxygen Updater, I found a post from official TWRP explaining how root with a10 will take a while to implement due to changes that Google has made to their partitions.
So I guess for anyone trying this out on their own, be warned. You will probably end up bricking your device like I did and will probably end up having a bad time.
Please correct me if i'm wrong though, peace!
Edit: can confirm fastboot flash boot twrp-3.3.1-11-enchilada-Q-mauronofrio.img from the other popular post is working!
If you already have a working TWRP on OOS 9 you should be fine as long as you flash a working TWRP afterwards. Blu_spark TWRP 9.101 is compatible (please not 9.101 no earlier version will work).
Also don't use Magisk 20 only 20.1.
There is already a pre-patched version out there. You can fastboot flash it (as fastboot boot doesn't work). An easier way (without a pre-patched version) is currently being worked one as you pointed out already
just updated to a10
boot into twrp, flash new bluspark twrp
flash FULL ota a10 image
reflash twrp
reboot into twrp
boot into system
boot back to twrp
install magisk 20.1
a10, twrp and root working

Which build did u use mate? R108 is not working with android 9, I tried flashing it using my older installed twrp.
It says unsupported android version. And in github r108 says only for android 10.
r108 is the kernel not twrp

I can confirm that this is working for me. I successfully upgraded from Android 9, Oxygen OS 9.0.9 to Android 10, Oxygen OS 10. Steps that I followed :
1) Flashed new twrp from link in the above post by akri1337 using my previously installed twrp : bluspark 9.85.
2) Flashed Oxygen OS 10 full update and added to queue latest bluspark twrp which I flashed in step one as it would be overwritten by flashing the full OTA update.
3) Rebooted into recovery again to switch to active slot.
4) Flashed Magisk 20.2 to regain root.
This process successfully upgraded my Oneplus 6 without any data loss.
Please note that I disabled all magisk modules just to be safe before starting the upgrade process but didn't uninstall magisk. I was on Magisk 20.2 earlier.
Hope this helps everyone.

Which magisk? Ver 20.1 ?
Why is it that I get an error when trying to flash the full OTA update using TWRP? Something about error 7 and not have a digest file. Is there a full OTA update file that everyone is using? I tried the signed full zip from here on XDA and the one from Oxygen Updater. I get the same error with both.

Still confused as to how everyone else can flash these zip files through TWRP and I cannot.
I'm currently Magisk rooted and have TWRP installed. Will I lose root and TWRP when updating through the local upgrade method?

Yes, you will need to flash twrp with adb and going through the hole process of installing twrp and magisk, but for me its not worked well, after first boot to Android Q with magisk 20.1 and granting some apps root access when I rebooted the phone its not booting to system and going to bootloader, I think its related to some problem with magisk 20.1.
