Poor soul dead links - Samsung Infuse 4G

Guys I see there are TONS of threads here for this device (infuse 4g) all of them have dead links from the dev-host site. My problem is this. I had the device on stock froyo 2.2.1 I believe. I have no simcard in it so it wouldn't let me take OTA updates which I thought u could even without a card or service. I'm trying to get a phone for my son to play with and watch his song videos and This is the only device I have and or can afford for the time being. it will be a WiFi only device so i don't care about radios and APN stuff as long as wifi works. It wouldn't let me install any apps from the market because the android version too old so I decided I would manually flash an update to it.. I got clockwork mod on it but 99 percent of the links for roms are dead but I found one eventually. I think it was 4.4.2. it wouldn't hoot and it just hung indefinitely 9n the Samsung logo.. so i found and flashed a 2.3.6 I then realized I had the rainbow distortion in clockwork and before it boots. I read into it and learned that it's from having froyo bootloader's. My problem now is
1. I can't find working links to the gingerbread or whatever other bootloader's I need and I can't even Google it because the link I found says "click here" instead of a file name.
2. I can't flashbany other rims because I can't see in clockwork mod to be able to flash anything.
I realize I can use idin to flash a firmware andnif I flash froyo then go to gingerbread then to icecream it supposedly will work but I can't find any Odin flashable froyo ROMs and I can't find any gingerbread or other bootloader's... Are all the files for this device just gone forever because the device is old and links are broken?
I'm sorry this post is so long I would really appreciate any response at all I realize I probably am screwed but I'm just trying to set this device up for my son. Thank you in advance if anyone answers I really really appreciate it

Go to androidfilehost.com and search for "infuse4g"
You can still download a few ROMs.

[Q] Probly and oldy but still need help

Yes I super one clicked, and odin to intall an unrooted version via the facebook Mesmerize fan page so im rooted.
Phone is now running firmware 2.3.4 Kernel 2.6.35.7, and eho9
All I want to do is change my Sounds and animations at start up and shut down and Every program I get does not allow me to edit the rootfiles. I have all the files I need just cant get them in the right place.
Maybe on a related note, the CWM update.zip gets the signature failure as i have seen soo soo much on here. none of the so called fixes work. manually through oden or through cwm direstly.
Any input or am I going to have to dump this turd and get another carrier?

having issues

Hi all im having a brain malfunction,
i have infuse 4 g att with latest "non rooted" 2.3.6 gingerbread from at&t I997uckl2
kernal version 2.6.35.7-I997uckl2-cl806505
gingerbread.uckl2
now my malfunction, i have dl the latest zues rom updated 3-5-12
i cannot seem to figure out 2 things. how to install cwm onto phone "need root" i think,
and 2 and here is where i get called a noob, so i placed the zues build onto my sdcard tried to update form there however, 1 when i get into the directory to update from sd i cannot find the zip "dont have win zip have winrar"
can anyone help a poor sod with a slap and direct me/give links to correct program to install cwm/and zues.
i have odin 1.81 i did dl a zip for cwm-uckl2 however i cannot seem to figure out how to interface it to phone to install it ntm from what i can see odin looks for a pit file/ .tar and i show in my cwm folder under updates modem.bin and redbend_ua
ive done this before but after the last update from at&t im lost
check out the forum below, it has everything you need. You need to root the phone first, install 3eRecovery and CWM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1293751
thanks but i think i failed to say this is the STOCK version of gingerbread the one there is no root for.
thats where im having issues windows is blatently retarded and will not allow heimdall to see the phone. if i have the phone on and connected zadig.exe runs finds phone installs drivers and all cool but then when i go to put phone in dl mode all a sudden i no longer have the device"phone " listed.
so i go to super one click ver. 2.3.3 after it loads 198 zerglings and pauses it fails in middle of step 7.
the real issue here is rooting, thats the real problem, once i root and or flash a rom thats rooted in order to finally instal the zues rom is my goal.
so im at a loss as to what file to actually use where it is able to be installed with out this samgung/at&t from feb,
fail rom lol "i hate at&t if you cant tell. thanks for any help
the same guy below was having the same problems as you I think...you have to flash Entropy512's kernel first I believe using ODIN which can be found on the second link I provided. The first link provides everything, I'd try to explain but I don't want to mess you up.

[Q] stable ICS and help un F-ing my phone please

ok, here goes. i saw a video on youtube
(i'm a new member, so i'm replacing this link. the video is "Root & Install Ice Cream Sandwich On The Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant No Computer Needed" by eddie1west)
it seemed so easy, right? i'm looking for the most stable Tmobile Vibrant ICS. Before i do that, now i have to un-junk my phone. i tried to follow that guy's instructions to put the new OS on my vibrant, but i messed something up along the way. Then i realized when he shows his phone's files, they have a different name and/or version than the links he provides. that may have had something to do with it, but it could also be that he started from stock in january, and i started from gingerbread in july....
well i put some update.zip file in the root (but was never shown when or if it needs removed), then finally got the phone rooted (but when i held all 3 buttons i never got the BLUE menu like he did. mine was RED until i applied his update.zip and then it was only GREEN until i rebooted. it always starts at RED), then installed his gingerbread over mine, then tried to load his link to ICSv13 (even though the one he used was v10), but all i got was a never ending boot. i thought maybe i needed to start from where he did, so i watched his other video (LINK REPLACED: "How To Go Back To Stock Eclair On Your Samsung Galaxy S With Odin 1.3" by eddie1west) and tried to start all over (but his download links didn't work and i had to find all the files singly). So, using odin v1.85 (but he used v1.3), i only ended up getting froyo (not eclair) and NO google apps icon....! Sigh
then it seemed like every link i clicked to try to fix my issues just brought me to this website. so i'm thinking you all must know your shhhhhhhtuff! i've read through so many forum pages like the "enable a lagfix"/"disable a lagfix" pages, the "flash with 2 files"/"flash with 3 and check a box" pages, sometimes Odin has PDA as the second button and sometimes it's third, some that say to flash without that update.zip file (so delete, flash, then put it there? then leave it?). and to top it all off, most answers take me to an older page (and program or file versions have changed or have updates since then....all newer stuff still compatible with each other?) AND a lot of the links i've clicked on are broken and i have to hope the file i find is the same as the instruction writer intended. (i guess if a file size was indicated, i could compare them kb for kb...)
about an hour ago, i was going to reflash some OS that kind of worked, then try to disable those 2 voodoo commands some page said to enable, then take the update.zip out, then try everything all over again when i got the message "CONVERT PARTITION, SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE, CONVERT PARTITION, SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE"!
THEN i thought.....HANG ON! JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A P3N1S DOESN'T MEAN THERE ARE LAWS AGAINST STOPPING AND ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS!!!! LOL!
So I stopped messing with the phone. From where i am right now, how do i get to a stable version of ICS? Will someone please give me a step-by-step list on what to do now? And can the list include file links that aren't broken (or a single zip file with everything in it would be like hitting the lottery!) and things i can look for to know i'm on the right track at the 1/3 mark and 2/3 mark possibly?
and could i please get a little forgiveness for being so long-winded when i get frustrated? and a tissue? and something to hit? (well..while i'm begging...can i get a large stuffed-crust meat-lover's and some diet dew too?) i may have found the reason that so many people use drugs! lol!
FYI, i'm on T-mobile using a T959V
FOLLOW UP-----
I moved this question here because I was just informed that the Vibrant is NOT the name of the Galaxy S 4G!
So what ur saying is the update.zip works on the t959v? And gives you root......I had a good feeling it would.
But anyhow you should go to the dev tab here in this forum and dl gremlin remover (one click)! and use that to get u back to stock.
We do not have a stable ics.
We are just now getting cm9 ics but you've got to understand its not perfect yet.....stick with gb for awhile and learn how this phone functions.
And don't worry...like the vibrant .....this phone is in my findings.....unbrickable

That is quite correct. They are different animals. If the gremlin remover doesn't help or get you where you need to go, I'd suggest using The T959V Heimdall One-Click Collection. Following the instructions there will get you back to a booting, stock Gingerbread ROM. From there you can go find ROM/ROMS of your liking (we have great developers) and give it/them a go.
Let us know if you need help.
well i meant the MOST stable Android 4 (aka cm9? ice cream)... or, for that matter, Android 3 (aka cm8? french silk pie? twinkie? zinger? lol! yum.....) would work too...
ok, i'll go find that program this afternoon/evening and fix the phone. (i just have to remember not to get that prog wet or feed it after midnight....)
now that i feel like an accidental guinea pig because i found you an answer you didn't know, then do you want me to test the compatibility of anything else out on it before i fix it? post your working links and i'll report back.
also, thanks for the gremlin help.
@stephen_w
is there an Odin one-click zip dealy thingy (and yes, that IS the technical term )
Lol I'm good I use to have the vibrant and just had a feeling this phone could have been rooted without hooking up to a comp.
Gremlin remover is an an Odin one click in itself.

Hello SGS4G XDA section! Newbie needs a lot of help!

Hey guys i`ve recently managed to get an SGS 4G Vibrant ( i believe that i am at right place to seek for help ) , i have the T-Mobile version of the phone. I need help switching to different/better ROM, at this moment the phone uses the stock one ( or i believe so ). I`ve been tru the threads and saw that there are a lot of stuff posted about what you need to do/have to flash a rom, but i just cant understand the right order of doing the things.
If its posible can someone really quick just post the steps for the guide for flashing a ROM to the phone. I have previous expiriance with android phone and i am aware how thing go, just as i said i cant get the right order of puting all the thing at one place.
For the phone i used to have was like, first i had to install an stocklike ROM which had recovery, but before that i had to get some kind of software for LG that alowes to flash the rom via download mode. So is the same here? It would be awesome if someone can link or atleast type all the software and other thing i need to have installed to make this work. For now what i have is the USB drivers for Samsung.
Thanks in advance!

Ok, that helped, not sure how i missed it. I am gonna write down what i did so far, so you could see if i messed up something.
I rooted the phone via SuperOneClick 2.2, then i installed the SGS Kernel Flasher, and then flashed the kernel, my current phone was running an 2.3.7 android, so i used the Basic with a Twist`s kernel ( i hope i did it right ), and now the phone rebooted and some different boot screen apiared with some Robotic Chick speeking some stuff, BUT for now the phone load to there, it doesnt wannt to load.
So did i messed up something, or ....
Can you go into recovery by holding Volume Up+Volume Down while pressing the power button and as soon as the SGS 4G splash appears leaving the power button ?
If so and you can see CWM Ver. 5.0... then kernel was successfully flashed.
You shouldn't be getting a bootloop.
What ROM do you want to flash ? If you want to flash GB then I suggest Barebone/Valhalla of some kind.
If you want ICS - Go to the CM 9.1 thread and follow the instructions. After that you may change to AOKP or MIUI or all the rest of the ICS ROMs you wanna try.

This section is not for the Vibrant.
Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=708
I am sorry I do not know how to get you back to where you started before flashing the wrong ROM.
Good luck
Well, it wasnt a bootloop, it just loaded to some point and stoped. Gladly still got the download mode and brought it back to normal to how it was. Thats why i came here to ask, `couse there are too much similiar sgs`s and stuff for them here, i just got confused whats what. Got to start from scratch anyway, at least i didnt bricked it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953587&postcount=1 <---- That's a post by Lumin 30 with a guide on how to get from stock to custom GB. If you want to get to ICS then use CWM 5.0.x.x.

[Q] Reviving an old phone

Back in February of 2014 I rooted my phone and I went through and started deleting some of the software that came preinstalled. No one likes the preinstalled bloatware anyways, but in the process I deleted some core files that were important to basic operation.
I figured no big deal I'll just get clockwork and find the ROM online and no big deal. Well... That didn't go so well because I had already accepted the secure boot over the air update.
Phone currently turns on and I'm able to get into the boot loader and a normal boot tells me to take it into Verizon (only for them to say there's nothing we can do).
I came here for answers and never bothered to make a post. All I found were people saying I'm screwed and two tutorials, one for a true bricked phone and the other that's image did not work for me in ODIN.
Now with a new job right around the corner and them requiring me to have a phone, I'm in a pickle. I'm coming back and while I can find some answers now most of the links have been removed.
Where can I find a copy of the stock rom so I can once again use my phone and which ODIN version should I be using (and where to get)? - if I can even remember how to use one since it's been so long.
I did find samsung-updates[dot]com/device/?id=SCH-I535 in a youtube video description from another post on XDA but 12 hours for a download doesn't seem practical especially if the file doesn't even work.
Also there was an ODIN post on XDA that had links for a download that Chrome will NOT let me download. When I say "will not", I actually mean I can only dismiss the notice that chrome says this file is malicious. There is no proceed anyways option and it comes with a "do not enter" icon. Other compressed versions of ODIN download fine but no clue what version I'm after.

Use a different browser to download your files, sometimes chrome won't download things properly.
Use this guide to fix your situation:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586319
You can use that file of you're on 4.3, but if you were on 4.4 you need a stock 4.4.2 image. Everything you need is in the sticky in the development section. All downloads are available and guides for figuring out which version you're on.
Thank you!

Much appreciated,
... I'm really bad at hitting the submit button. I've already called my dad to tell him happy birthday. (It's 2 AM and he has to be at work at 7, totally worth it)!
