Before I begin I should mention that I have been scouring the interwebz for an answer and while I've been to XDA forums multiple times with no avail, I still feel it is the most appropriate place to ask.
Basically, like many people I've seen on XDA, I've purchased a "GooPhone i5c" from Aliexpress. I put that in quotations because I believe from the research that I've done, the phone I have is a knock of (of a knock off) and no GooPhone ROMS have worked so far.
I'm lost and seeking help, the phone is in a state of complete death, pressing buttons does nothing (no screen back light!), my computer does seem to recognize it, however. Basically, when I plug it into the PC, I it's recognised as "MTK USB Port (Com 5)" and that's about it. The phone was working when I originally got it but being stupid like I am, I attempted to flash a new ROM with no knowledge of the process whatsoever. It was stupid and I don't plan on doing it again.
I've attached a little image with the specs rundown from the Aliexpress page. What do guys?
Hello xda!
Apologies if I mess up on technical terminology, I'm still quite new to this stuff and am trying my best to communicate. If anyone could help this noob figure this problem out it would be greatly appreciated!
Long story short:
Bought OPO September 2015, hard-bricked March 2016
Ran stock (COS?) though it randomly froze and restarted before the brick (No time to investigate, just waited on update)
No damage done as far as I know- physical or water
No response to anything such as fastboot
I tried all the basic solutions such as charging, fastbooting, power cycling, etc. but the device showing as QHSUSB_BULK and no response to any stimulus told me it's completely hard bricked.
So the next logical step was to attempt unbricking through Netbuzz's guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-unbrick-oneplus-one-t3013732
I got to the point of installing the driver correctly (Qualcomm 9008) after downloading from the Qualcomm 2012 drivers (running windows 7 so the driver.iso wasn't really on par) but after trying to run Msm8974DownloadTool (as administrator of course) it would get stuck at trying to flash(?) the first image(?) 8974_msimage.mbn and disconnect each time, just looping over and doing this each time. (The line doesn't turn red and does not read "Sahara" like other's experiences, it just tries to flash(?) again and the disconnect sound is heard.)
I browsed the forum more and found this recovery tool by Zyxxeil:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/tool-oneplusrecovery-tool-v1-0-restore-t2991851
to see if it just needed an updated version of the tool, but that didn't work either.
I have tried different COM ports and different wires but the same 8974_msimage.mbn issue occurs each time. I have yet to try another computer or OS like Windows XP but I doubt it'll yield any results. I've browsed the forums and found other people experiencing this same problem but no solution to it exists as far as I know.
Reading Heisenberg's post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54561962&postcount=7
it seems to me that if the image is having trouble flashing then something is wrong with the actual hardware.
Is it that I've likely destroyed my partitions somehow? (which I understand as some kind of storage)
If so does that mean what I need is called a JTAG repair? (If someone could explain that too, that'd be great!)
Is it still possible for me to still unbrick on my own as far as anyone here knows?
I am reluctant to send to Oneplus repair in that they would simply charge me for a replacement motherboard if that is unnecessary and costly. If a JTAG repair is cheaper than that and could work for my device, then it would be optimal.
Thank you for reading, and in advance if you respond!
Anyone please?
Hi guys, I'm sincerely apologizing if this is the wrong place to open a thread about something like that, I couldn't figure out where else to write down my issue. I've been told here are people that know the most about devices and that someone might be able to solve an issue I got with my Samsung s6 Edge. The samsung support has been not helpful at all and it's either sending it to them to repair it and loose all my files or at least before doing that at least trying to save some of my personal files. The problem yet is that I can't even get into my phone. I was charging it at night and suddenly I saw a flashing Samsung Logo on screen with a blue LED that flashes as well. So the device had to be turned itself off and then it was restarting but it couldn't get pass the 2nd SAMSUNG loading Screen and got stuck. That's all. From then on I wasn't able to do anything with it. First I thought it may be making some updates, but then again I turned off my wifi before going to sleep. So that can't be the case. I waited hours, because I was hoping it might get pass it at some point but it didn't. While waiting I looked up tutorial to fix it but nothing seemed to work out and then I called the samsung support which basically just told me to turn it on and off without any real solving advice. So here I am. desperate to just save up the last photos and that's it. Does anyone know a solution that won't mess with my guarantee.
Again, I'm really sorry if this isn't the right place to ask.
Thanks for reading if you made it up to here,

You may get more help by getting the thread moved to Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting.
To do so, simply click the "report button" and select "thread/post moving".
Now, on with the issue. What you're having seems to be a bootloop.
One thing you could try is booting into recovery and wiping the cache.
I'm not exactly sure how booting to recovery works on the S6, but it generally is: turn the phone off, then hold the power button + volume up button until the phone vibrates. If that doesn't work, try adding the home button to that combo, or just Google how to boot into recovery.
Anyway, if that doesn't work, then I'm afraid there won't be any other solution than reinstalling the firmware yourself or sending it to warranty (where they will probably reinstall the firmware).
Your photos shouldn't be affected in the process, as they are saved on the internal memory and, unless somebody wipes it, you shouldn't lose your files.
But you will definitely lose your apps and app data in the process.
Flashing the firmware yourself should not void the warranty.
The process can be done with Odin (a software also used by Samsung). I'm not sure how familiar you are with flashing, but you may want to do some reading or watch video guides on the subject of using Odin. Since the S6 is pretty much a new device, I'm sure you will find lots of video tutorials for the S6 specifically.
And, as I said, your internal storage stuff should be safe too.
I have a flex 2 from sprint and it is hard bricked.. I'm assuming I have tried all the ways possible that I could find online, followed tutorials the best I could but I must not be doing something right or its impossible to fix.... Witch couldn't be the case bc there are forums that have positive feedback on fixes. So I have QFIL and my phone is in Qualcomm HS-USB QDLOADER 9008 (com41) it has no visual on the screen and doesn't vibrate there isn't no red charging light nothing it's just.... well dead. I took it to this hole in the wall phone repair shop and he wasnt even knowledgeable about QFIL, so not help there. Apparently they only replace screens, who would have known. If someone could help me with what I need file wise what goes in "select build content XML". The programmer, rawProgram, and patch file. Maybe even TeamViewer with me. Or just a zip file with all the contents and some instructions would be great. Just need a little help.
My Edge s bricked several days ago, Technical support said that there is no way to flah it back, except replace the motherboard, but the fees are high enought that you can buy a new one, so i give up, Today I disassembled the phone and tried to find the short test points to enter the EDL mode, But I don’t know which are the test points,Can anyone help look at the attached pictures, thank you.
Friendly reminder, Please don't try to relock phone like I did.
Unfortunately, I do not know what points to short in order for this to work, however I had a similar issue with my Asus Zenfone 6 and was able to resolve it using the following cable...
Amazon.com: USB C Cable, Deep Flash Cable Type C for Xiaomi Phone Models, Fast Charge Cable Open Port 9008 for BL Locks Engineering - White : Cell Phones & Accessories

Hi CCivale, thanks for your reply, i tried the cable but no luck.
Interesting. This may or may not help...

Just to be clear, did you try using the stock, factory firmware files and:
Code:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot bootloader.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
I soft-bricked and did those three commands, then was able to flash back to stock via LMSA.
wow, I have the exact problem now for Edge S/G100 .... searching for "test point" brings me here.
I'll try the above FB commands and am still open for suggestions. Thanks...

I find that hard to believe; manufacturers love test points. They don't trash mobos over firmware... there's a way.
They aren't mark if present.
The location is likely proprietary until someone figures or leaks them out.
This is all I could find. Try asking here perhaps.

Nope, on more expensive devices, the boards between EVT, DVT, PVT revisions change a lot because they can afford to. Production boards for this phone simply don't have the pins for it.

Yes, well... the pin outs for that chipset are available from Qualcomm.
If there is no pin for that function on the chipset, then there's the definite answer that there's no way to do it. That's an easy way to verify it.
Otherwise it's game on...
The way to find it be to hot air the Qualcomm chipset off a trash mobo and trace out the correct pcb contact from the base of the BGA chipset (I assume it's a BGA form factor). The trace goes somewhere. While it could be s completely internal trace, I highly doubt that's the case. Even then there are still ways to get to it.
If the pin is there, there's a way...
Just depends how determined you are and you're skill level. Prototypes and repairs sometimes end up as scrap so you need to accept that reality as well. If you have a blown mobo to experiment and practice with you have nothing to lose.

Ok but this phone costs 300 dollars, why in the world would you even think of doing anything like that lol, but if that's what you want to do then be my guest?

Me? I have N10+'s and not about to risk trashing one as they run very well as is.
The easiest way is to just leave it stock and not be playing Android god
Lol, didn't even look at the price; that makes it easier to eat. On this misadventure we are in agreement... too many "I bricked my phone" threads here.

about your advice do mean locking the bootloader after you unlocked it?
plz anyone plz answer me that my oneplus 9 5g has been hardbricked by me so can i fix it using edl cable??? plz answer as soon as possible.
Thank You.
To original poster: If you get Fastboot mode running which is what it looks like you were able to do, you can recover with the Motorola recovery tool. Otherwise if it shows up only as a serial device you need blankflash which I posted previously in this forum. I have bricked and unbricked my phone many times trying to get LineageOS and other things working on it since it's a little funky as a device swapping A/B stuff a lot on it's own.
Thanks

Was there ever a solution made on this issue? I have the same problem
FFS, people, If you can get into Fastboot, your device is not bricked. There was absolutely no need to open up the phone and disassemble it. You have to go into Fastboot mode to use the Motrola Rescue and Smart Assistant Tool.
