I'm not usually an android person but I'm looking for a root or custom rom so I can install Xposed framework. The phone I have is a sm-g955u snapdragon on bootloader 6, Android Pie. Hopefully someone out there can help me find a guide or the tools to do what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance

for the 955u, you can either root + xposed on nougat, or xposed only on oreo. The guide can be found here for nougat:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...nt/root-using-odin-modified-firmware-t3693790
or this for oreo:

So I can't do anything on Android pie? Is there anyway i could downgrade?

I have looked extensively for a good method to accomplish this but so far, all I have found is for version older than 5.3.2. Does that mean that there aren't any tutorial available or is it that my device is unrootable? Thanks in advance!!

Looking at Fire OS, all versions above 5.1.1 are just modifications done over Android 5.1.1 so any method which works for 5.1.1 should work for your version too. Try them as per guides which you'll find here.

Does this mean that my version doesn't need to be downgraded before the root??

Hi there!
Since Android OS version remains same it may not have any effect on root methods. My suggestion is to install custom recovery as soon as you make some system level changes like bootloader unlock/rooting. If anything goes wrong you can flash some roms and fix any possible errors.

Nihal

I'm having some trouble getting Xposed Framework to work on my Galaxy s6 - Marshmallow 6.0.1
I have searched and searched, to no avail. I haven't found anything that clearly explains how to get this to work on the US Cellular model, SM-G20R4. Please help!

Initially you need to have root access, if your phone is not rooted then xposed won't work.

Of course. It is rooted, and the Xposed app is installed also. Just having trouble getting the proper Framework download on this device model.

You need to be using wanams version of xposed, I'd post the link but I'm on my phone.
@LadyPenguin, Here you go: Xposed for Samsung devices
I also recommend using: Material Design Xposed

That's what I was afraid of.... Thanks.
Anyone know if there's been any progress for the Xposed installer for the Samsung Note 8 AT&T?
Is there an alternative to Xposed installer out there?
Nope, no real alternatives, you basically need root.
Thank you CitizenInsane. I am actually rooted, but I have the AT&T version so my options are limited. I just want something I can mod with.
Any updates I'm rooted on art too
Just moved to this phone on Sprint from the Galaxy S6, this device is fully updated and I was wanting to root it. Is there a root available for Oreo for the Sprint variant? And what are some of the better Oreo ROMs? Thank you!
Check your bootloader version. If it's under 4 which I haven't seen yet, you can root but it won't be oreo. Check out PartyCyborg rom. Works up to bootloader v3 but you'll end up flashing to Nougat and can only charge to 80%

Check this out:
Links to files are there in the description
Been digging for the same recently and that is the only tutorial for current 8.0 stock I could find.
Haven't tried it myself though... Good luck
If you have TWRP installed, go install Magisk
