Apps that work with Face Unlock - Google Pixel 4 XL Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi guys,
Just got my Pixel 4 XL today and after transferring my apps over noticed that Lastpass has a beta program that you can join that allows Face Unlock to be used to access your password vault. I installed it and seems to work!
Might be worth others adding in this thread any other apps that they find work.

Only app I have found thus far is Robinhood.

Venmo supports biometrics

LastPass works with face unlock

1password works well w/ face unlock

Dashlane

Citi bank

Bitwarden(an open source alternative to last pass) works.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Geico Mobile App

E-Trade works

Revolut also supports biometrics on the Pixel.

Robinhood

Safe in Cloud

Keepass2android (beta)

Bank of America finally got it!

LastPass supports biometric lock as well

Box. Saw the story-haven't tried it myself.

Bitwarden, 1Password, Laspass, Dashlane, Lunar etc

Venmo

Send messages without notification (WhatsApp, FB Messenger, Hangout....)

The problem: your smart Gear S2 can only reply to incoming notification. Not to mention that you can only send one message for each notification. Once a notification is dismissed, you have no way to send messages to your friend. What if you want to start the conversation first?
That's why I came up with an app to solve that problem.
It supports multiple apps: WhatsApp, FB Messenger, Google Hangout, Line, KakaoTalk, Skype, Telegram, BBM, Signal, Textra, GG Messenger, Go SMS and Chomp
*Telegram support is experimental.
* Viber dropped from the list due to being unstable.
What it offers:
- Sending messages directly to your friend whenever you want to. No notification? No problem.
- Using multiple services for chatting? You can control all of them in one list. Only chat threads you need will appear on the watch.
- No login required. Your accounts and info are safe. App has no access to storage or internet.
- Send and add new predefined messages for faster texting.
- Native interface. Bezel scrolling.
What it doesn't offer:
- Log of previous conversation.
- Not a client for any of those apps.
So, you can combine this app with the default reply to notification ability on the watch for a complete experience. I know for some apps like WhatsApp, you can view previous messages.
App will be available in the Gear store soon. Including a free version for testing.
Have questions about the app? Let me know
Looks cool. When you will be ready to publish the first beta version?
I got a couple questions, are you going to charge a fee on the Gear app store?
If you do any nonSamsung Galaxy phone user will not be able to use this app.
If you are set on charging a fee is it possible to do an app like the S2 Tasker app? It uses a companion Android app from the Play store that charges a fee so the developer still gets paid and the app is available to everyone.

That restriction has actually been lifted as of a week or two ago - paid apps are now available for purchase by non-Samsung phone users. If you're not seeing paid apps, you might need to update your version of the Samsung Gear app or the associated plugins.
I think I figured out the misunderstanding. Probably the Korean market that I'm in that's stopping me from having access to paid apps.
Will for sure buy this app, when available in the Samsung Gear Store...
Maybe you could make a free AND paid version (free version i.e. only 1 service active (i.e. Hangouts butNOT WhatsApp!) and paid version unlocked!)
Please add "Telegram" too to your services
Another great app. Keep solving all the weak points of the Gear S2!
When will this be released @tipztv

Telegram works, but the main telegram app sometimes kick me out. Not sure if it is a bug in the app or a security measure to prevent unofficial access

I dont see any. Probably has to do with me using the Korean app market.
I would find this app useful. Great work. Please let us know when it's live.
Good initiative! I will certainly monitor developments as this seams to be a very promissing and useful app!

I don't see any paid apps either. I'm in Malta, Europe. Not sure if it has to do with my region. I have all softwares up to date and created a new Samsung account from scratch just to be sure. I was never asked to enter a credit card number, and I registered from a PC just to be double sure.
If anyone has any ideas it would be great. And to the author of the app, please make it free on Samsung Store and do a paid companion app on Play store like tipztv has done with his tasker app [emoji6] Thanks

I have google play credit so I would love for it to be in the play store also but will buy it no matter where it is .
Sidenote: I was looking into starting a full hangouts app for Tizen, I know there is no API but I found a github where a group has decompiled and created the hangouts app in python. I could either create an API from it and package it or try to convert it. But in no way would it be a quick or easy task... Have you looked into doing this at all?
This sounds great. Looking forward to seeing it in the store.

App looks awesome and very useful, especially for Hangouts. My only concern is privacy. What type of access would this app have to my Hangout password, contacts info, etc

any good app for using all my password with one Fingerprint of the S7 ??and can sync?

i was wondering and looking around for one FREE app that like Lastpass will actually save me time and save all my passwords and open sites and app with just my fingerprint on the S7
but it is of course important that it will be able to Synce with my Windows 10 so any time i need to change password will work on both sides......
anyone can help me with some recommendation? most be FREE app please..
1password is the only app worth considering and even if it ain't free it is worth every penny

i really prefer FREE APP. there most be something good....
any help will be much appreciate !!
Keepass2android in the latest beta has fingerprint support
keepass2android dot codeplex dot com
It uses a keepass dot info database which can be synced using Dropbox etc
I use this for all my passwords on windows and phone
any other recommendation .... ?? thanks
I use Lastpass. Its free to use as a browser extension on the PC. The mobile app requires a $12 yearly subscription, but it works amazingly.

I'm not sure I'd trust a free password app that stores all my very sensitive passwords. Just me...

same as not trusting WathsaApp as they can read all your sensitive messages...
i'm sure there is some good trust-able free apps out there..
Keepass2Android has an offline version that does not request internet permissions. It works as an little encrypted database which you can unlock, your unencrypted data is then never sent across the internet unless you send it. It has lots of plugins and has a lot of support. It's 100% free and open source, (that doesn't mean easily hacked, that means even more secure as many people vet it). Also since your aren't reliant on someone else to store your data encrypted it's easier to trust. Remember LastPass got hacked...?
Will any of these apps let you user your fingerprint on other apps password input field? Such as Chase Bank app or Pandora ect when asked to login?
but i guess i prefer app that works also online and synce automatically so i will not need to update each device each time password is changed..
but what if i need to sync both with PC and laptop...?? any boday might know a free app that do sync as well??
try keepass2android beta and let us know how it goes.
i think its open source codes so it should be safe.
but yeah try them all and let us know ok

an App that lets me use my fingerprint reader for passwords

I am coming from an Iphone 6s and I cannot tell you how much i love touch ID for apps and passwords. the pixel has this feature but none of the apps have the ability to use it as a password or a pass through instead of typing my password in every time.
Most password managers let you do this. I use LastPass and I can sign into apps with my fingerprint.

I still have the 5X and all supported credit card apps have this feature for me:
AT&T
Chase
PayPal to name a few.
They're still rolling out but do you have any of the apps I listed installed?

Keepass2Android can use imprint as well.
Yeah it's still rolling out and all secure apps with access to personal information will all be taking advantage of the fingerprint ID. That's not a fact, just my personal thought. Hopefully it will be mandatory at some point.

This is Android. You have options. No cookie cutter approach. There's a bunch of fingerprint unlock apps in the play Store.

mandatory or not, just an ease of use would be better. they can make it mandatory that apps offer it, and you can enroll if you want. but to have sensors and not tie them to passwords for applications and logins seems crazy.

thats not an option, thats going out of my way to get somehting that is offered by the creators of the device. and lets just skip over the security issues of android applications and the play store. you need security, you store it local and that local unlocks a key that says yes this is the fingerprint of the person who inputed that password. having to get an app for that is dangerous and ignorant in the long run. there isn't a cookie cutter approach on apple either, you can use it or not. just like you can use it or not on android. the difference is apple forced the app develops to at least have it built in for ease of use if people so chose.
Ive been an android user since the motorola droid in 2009, and only the 6s was my first iphone. it worked well, and it had it's issues, plenty of them. however it also had a streamlined unity to the apps and OS that android lacks, and the advent of the 4 messaging apps and video apps is proof of that.
they need a simple answer for this, and downloading an app that may or may not be secure isn't the answer.

LastPass IS more secure than default Google security. More encryption. Only in the business for security. Google is half in the business for leaving snoop holes for advertising research, etc. I don't personally mind this but I'm sure you've seen the privacy complaints.
Android leaves a lot open to development. iOS does unify things more, and you should give feedback to Google if you want something like "Touch ID" which just sounds like stock LastPass for iOS, to be honest.
Your complaint sort of seems to me like asking for more from stock, but I don't get why it matters to install an app (if app is designed right, which it damn better be as a password app!)
Maybe Google will include it in future. Like mentioned, give feedback.

and there is the problem, i travel for a living and apps and bank accounts and card accounts, hotels, airlines, all kinds of secure sites and opassword for work that I use through my device. on my iphone I logged in once and had the option to touch ID in for the rest of the time.
I'd be fine is that was an option, but most of the apps so far don't fingerprint sensor back into the application. it can get websites... wich is nice i guess, but if I am doing websites I'll just access it on my laptop and i already have them saved there.
i'd be happy if lastpass saved my fingerprint in place of password for applications, and not just websites. but right now the only one that did was Dashlane, and that app is a dumpsterfire of bloat and uglyness on chrome.
so again... an app seems like a good idea, but simplicity is also a featture people would like. android has never been overly simple, that is why I like it, but this seems like a no brainer for future apps.

Hmm. Did you try LastPass premium? For $13/ year... Cheap like dirt compared to hotels and flights....
And I can fill all sorts pf apps with my fingerprint... LastPass for me is like TouchID acts for you. Indispensable so worth $13. All browsers and all devices wifh functioning browsers.
What else can't you do on stock Android that you could on TouchID? I'll let know know if I can do it with LastPass.

Lastpass premium is worth it, I am using the free version to make sure it works as intended before paying money for it. really it's the fact that touchID was baked into the OS that made it so fluid. no extra app or multiple touches. just thumb and go. i've gotten used to last pass, and thankfully it's asking for logins when I use them, and that is helpful.
BofA is another app that uses it.
Yes for android-O Fingerprint Gesture app let you perform actions using fingerprint sensor and many more.

Samsung Pass alternative for OP7Pro

Hi everyone.
I was used to utilising Samsung Pass for passwords, especially with its integration with Note8's iris scanner. Is there a password-manager app with a similar integration with either fingerprint or face scanner for OP7pro? Thank you.

There are bunch of password managers.
Lastpass, Bitwarden, 1Password, Dashlane
I recently moved from Lastpass to Bitwarden because I wanted something that I open source and where the source code is available

It's also cross platform and syncs across platforms.
Android, iPhone, PC and MacOS can all be synched.
Have a look at KeePass..
I like Samsung Pass which I can login to android apps & seems other password manager can only login to websites and not apps

Whatsapp clonned linked device cannot unlock using biometric fingerprint

So, i have a whatsapp clonned app in my Oppo Reno 4, Color OS 11.1, Android 11. It's cloned using the builtin Color OS feature.
But after the new whatsapp required unlock using biometric fingerprint, the cloned app failed/stuck on the "Unlock link a device" step when I try to connect to whastapp web. There is no error too. The real app, not the cloned one, works without problem.
Is there anyone who experience the same ?

I happend to find a work around. So, i turn off the fingerprint, then login to desktop WA app. Your WA mobile app will ask for a pin instead of fingerprint. The caveat is, you should use a desktop WA app, and don't logout from it.
After that you can reenable your mobile fingerprint
