Flash stock fw - LG V50 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Hi,
Is there any way to flash a stock firmware on our V50?
I'm using the European version of the device and I'm having an issue (SafetyNet check fails, even if I have never rooted the device) so I wanted to try flashing another FW.
I tried searching around but I found nothing, except LGUP that I wasn't able to use because gave me an error of missing V50 DLL.
Thank you everyone!!!

Hello. We do have a working dll, check in v50 forum. Also LG-UP 1.16.0.3,bit it can't crossflash due to iml protection.

Hi, I think firmwares from SKT is a bit buggy. 1st, I don't have weather animation even if I have (com.lge.effect). I started with V500N11m and got updated to V500N11q with October 01 security patch. I just noticed aside from still not having the weather animation on my lockscreen is it extended my charging time. Fast-charging is indicated, I always charge my phone turned off. Before turning it off, it shows it will get fully charged after 1hr and 22mins but it took 1hr.23mins from 40% to 87% At first this ain't happening and I always charge this way, this percentage but now, I just noticed that it's charging pretty slow compared before.
Can i switch from V500N11q to V500N11r?

@Inerent how soon do you think the lgup that supports cross flashing will be released? Also do you think an engineering bootloader will be leaked as it was for v35?

Hello. It should be pretty soon as the 1.6.0.4 is already in the hands of some Chinese guy.... Bootloader also depends on them. But we should understand that they are leaking official tools from lg and lg is not happy. Maybe lg is already after them closing the partnership... It's a bad circle...

Tbh, my root dream has gone. I'm very satisfied with my Hi-fi setup, quad dac, headphones, sound bar, Tidal etc.
I just want the gestures back as I have paid for fluid navigation gestures pro since lg g7, but with V50 it was a bad experience. Other than that and the new ui, I'm not that into updates or root anymore. I've donated for root, but to be honest I think it would be achieved sometime in the 2020 summer, also by some misterious "coincidence, leak, engineering Bootloader" I'm more and more convinced behind this leaks is LG.
But, again, Just want the new ui, gestures and maybe crossflashing with eu firmware just to try it. I'm more and more convinced that korean is better.

More likely that it's just one of lgs partners that leaks the bootloader, but I guess it's possible. Carriers don't like bootloader unlocking, and LG is not in such a great position anyway, so they might try to quietly give access to bootloader unlocking. But then again, probably not

Any suggestions on cross flashing LMV500EM Australian to UK firmware.?
Some other people have tried cross flashing and got the following error as per the following C&P
"I tried using LGUP to flash the swiss 20g firmware, however LGUP stops and gives the message "Error: 0x5319, Not allow to change the device. (TEL_AU->OPEN_EU)"
"tried" the UK firmware as it doesn't list OPEN"
"Tried partition dl but could not crossflash"

we will have to wait for some good developer to unlock bootloader so as to allow you to install other firmware ... i have the v50 with lock sprint and it does not go in fastboot

No, yours isnt. Only the EUROPEAN V500EMs are supported, not the ones from other regions. IMEI/Device ID isnt whitelisted for other regions to unlock. (but it will tell you that when you try).
Every V500EM can go to fastboot btw, or other open market variants, just the carrier variants cant. (but, with temp root/firehose thats possible todo then too)

I'm in Australia. Everytime I try to update it says I've got the latest firmware...
Whatever the rest of the world has, LG has pretty much dumped all support for us here, which is a shame as the features that have been hinted to us are awesome but alas unavailable to us Aussies...
So much for a flagship device....
Still on Android 9 with October 2018 security patch. And no update in sight...

As you can see, LG has pretty much left us in the dirt here in Oz...
There are no other places still on Android 9. Most, if not ALL major OEM's have upgraded, if not all their devices, their flagship phones to Android 10...
If they aren't going to do it themselves, at least allow us to do so by producing a generic CSC specific ROM, like Samsung has...
As I say, my security patch is for October last year. If nothing else, this should have been updated...

oh m in that group already. I already asked there twice. the first time no respond and the second time someone suggest me to use VPN whether i can find update or not but it didn't work. I think because the last owner of my device didn't activate with Sprint at first that's why it didn't register my device on Sprint's firmware server. The only option left is that i can't update to beta firmware of android 10 but i can't find it anywhere.

TMO to Global Flash?

Has anyone had any luck flashing Tmobile's OP8 with the firmware from the global model? When I had my OP7Pro, I recall flashing the global firmware to improve the overall experience, as TMO is TERRIBLE when it comes to updates. Is this even feasible with 5G?
And before you ask why I didn't just buy the global model... I am on EIP on Tmobile.

unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, make a full back up, also you should back up persist just in case your fingerprint stops working, then flash the global firmware fastboot ROM, then flash TWRP restore the MODEM ONLY from the full backup and root etc

However, in the past when I've updated I've ended up with a Theme Store (didn't work, but it was there!) Then on the next update, it's gone.

You could try flashing a different region version eg. Oppo Australia website has A23 available for download, flash that over your current version (you won't lose anything).
It's very strange you don't have it as it's a very basic default menu setting.
The Region setting is ROM specific, in the UK the region option isn't there with contract devices as it's running UK carrier ROM which doesn't need another region

But surely the ability to change the region is still required, people travel with their phones all the time and need to be able to change to the country they are in.

Although I understand your point of view, unfortunately I don't work for the ColorOS team, I can only tell you why the setting isn't present in the ROM not why they haven't implemented it
If it is because it's carrier specific ROM, then all you can do, as I mentioned, is turn off auto update and wait for the next global release to appear, and flash that from the website. Global ROM has the region settings. Don't use OTA until you have the global 'clean' ROM installed
Hello,
I have the same problem, (UK unlocked)
I spoke to a lady from oppo on Friday morning who called me back later and told me to wait for the next update as they know of some "glitches" in the software the Region setting disappearing being one of them.
Hope this helps?
But we can't get the updates because of the region is gone, installing a different firmware doesn't bring it back either
Where can I find the global ROM?

Do you know of a global ROM I can install via the recovery?
The last version I know of is Australia .23
the roll back version is .25
But until oppo send out an interim update you will not gain Region setting, if you try it will fail if your software number is higher
It's all down to oppo I'm afraid.

Exectly but I got a fix for that, the NEW rollback file is A.25 , the bugged rollback file was A.23,
So the old rollback file had issues with sim, so I flashed the new rollback file and it fixed that problem, so then I flashed the old rollback file again and it doesn't give me sim issues no more but still have A.23 and yes now flashing other A.23s work now but still no ota updates via vpn
If that sounds confusing, ino it is lol

Did she tell you how we would receive the update because the OTAs or vpns don't work so how would we receive this one if we can't receive the July one?

CPH2025CW - Flash Global?

I have a CPH2025 running CW though I purchased it from Amazon UK and can confirm it's Unlocked Network wise, is there no way of flashing just a Global CPH2025 to it so I'm able to get updates quicker?
Nope
There's a flashing tool used by Oppo, Realme and OnePlus phones called MSN Download Tool.
It's what they use internally and there are always leaked / cracked versions available for OnePlus, but not so much Oppo. IF you managed to find the right version you could in theory change your software version. You'd need the tool and .ofp file (which is the full firmware).
I have a couple of cracked versions of the tool and OFP files that I stumbled across when trying to convert my Chinese version to global, but not willing to try on my CPH2025 in case I brick it (plus I have the global version so nothing to gain by doing so). Sure Oppo would reflash under warranty if you could be bothered with the inconvenience of not having a phone for a week.

Unlikely, there are only a few leaked versions of the full firmware, I have found A14 and A29, as ColorOS 11 isn't even out yet is say there is zero chance of getting a leaked version that someone has cracked.... Just have to wait.
It is actually possible to change to global! I put a small tutorial up on Twitter to show you how to do it.

Does it factory reset the phone? How is 4g/5g performance when you switch regions? I imagine Singapore would use different bands... And how does it look with Google Pay, certifications, Widevine etc?
Update: Never mind, tried it, the *# code is actually for a realme device, can't find one specific to Find X2 or X2 Pro, and have no idea if there is a way to extract a list of those secret codes from the device itself...

The *# works on the Find X2 Pro. It's not Realme-specific. Google Pay still works for me and didn't notice any mobile data difference. No factory reset either
I've tried and it works. Changed the region a few times, tried Singapore, UK, then the multi-language E - all worked fine. It even disabled and enabled region specificNone of them have me a ColorOS 11 update though which is why I was doing it.
However, I changed to Thailand True and now this procedure doesn't work. Now stuck on Thailand ?. My fault for playing too much!

Thanks for the post Adam, you've made a lot of people very happy. This change in regional settings had enabled people to get ColorOS 11 early, replace carrier specific software for a more generic version, get features like the Theme Store and call recording working and even opened up the possibility of having dual SIM on a single SIM variant!
Cheers buddy! ?
