Hi! My phone doesn't have any problems with 5Ghz wifi. Did you try to connect to another wifi? There are some advices about changing wifi chanel in your router (see last 4 posts):

[Q] Help! Very bad wifi signal at 2,4Ghz?

Hello all,
I just bought a Oneplus One.
But when I tried to connect to my home Wifi (which is 2,4Ghz, and no options to use 5Ghz) it didn' t saw my router.
Now I downloaded Wifi Analyser, This is showing me that I only have a connection with my router if my phone is only a few centimeter/inches away from the router.
This problem is not in my router because i have this with all the wifi connections that are using 2.4Ghz.
All the wifi connections that use 5ghz are working fine.
I've already changed the channels on my router, which didn't make any difference.
I also did a factory reset, still nothing.
I also changed the settings of my phone to only use 2,4Ghz wifi.
I set my wifi performance to his max but still only connection with my router if I hold my phone a few centimeter/inches away from it.
Does anyone have any ideas that I can try? Its really annoying that I can use wifi
Thanks for your time!

well, you say it might be router related, then have you tried messing with its settings? change wifi ssid, security, channel, etc etc
also, you might want to try LMY47I (latest build) - https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/hammerhead-lmy47i-factory-df127988.tgz

5ghz Wifi not detecting S8+ (G955FD)

As u all know S8+ have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, but Mine S8+ is not showing 5ghz wifi band.
Please help me out that how to resolve this issue.
It's not clear what are you asking here. Almost any phone can connect to a 5Ghz network, your router must be dualband
I have cisco E4200 dual band router with both 2.5ghz and 5ghz frequency. As u say almost all phones working fine but mine s8+ even not detecting or showing 5ghz band network. I tried well like to add munually network but issue still there.
I too have a S8+. However, it will not detect my 5G wifi, though my Galaxy J7 can both see and connect to it.
Both are running Android 8.0 and Samsung Experience 9.0
Pls advise
I have the same issue. After I tried and checked the device in many ways, I finally found out that it is related to the mobile signal. If you turn off the mobile data off, 5GHz will show up on your wifi list.
This is how I do.
1. Turn on the Airplane mode.
2. 5GHz wifi shows up. Connect to the AP.
3. Turn off the Airplane mode. The 5GHz AP remains connected.

Change the channel setting for you 5GHz to something near 153. S8+ does not see some lower channels.

Finally!!!!!!!!!!!! I can connect to 5GHz network.
THANKS ALOT Gaujvsjks!!!
I am using Jio SIM in India which uses the VoLTE technology, so maybe that's the reason my S8+(SM-G955FD) won't even show any 5GHz networks in the settings.
Thanks!
Thanks

Mobile hotspot connect, but no internet connection

Hi, I tried getting help with this on P30 Pro forum here, but no luck. I'm having problems with mobile hotspot on my Huawei P30 Pro. My notebook can see the hotspot, and can connect to it, but the phone just won't share the internet connection.
Bluetooth is turned on, and bluetooth tethering as well, and I tried both 2.4 and 5 GHz.
I tried USB tethering. Tried apps from the store. Tried addin "DUN" to APN type and always the same thing - notebook can see the hotspot, but internet is not working. Any ideas? The notebook is Asus Rog G751. Three months ago internet over hotspot was working, but since I only use hotspot when travelling, I have no idea what could have gone wrong in the mean time.

You have tried USB tethering as well as Bluetooth tethering. Have you tried the 'Portable WLAN hotspot'?
In the Settings of 'Portable WLAN hotspot', there is a 'Data limit' option. Check it and the device list, please.
Switch Airplane Mode On and Off:
This is a method that usually fixes the error and works for most of the Android Users. All the user needs to do is switch the Airplane Mode On and off. The airplane mode basically resets the Signal and Network adapter to help the connection be restarted again.
To switch the Airplane Mode On and off, all you have to do is pull the notification drawer down, and then look for an Airplane icon, tapping on it will activate it. Wait for 5 seconds, then tap on the Airplane icon again to deactivate it and wait on all the Mobile network to appear again and then turn on the data and the Hotspot of the device.
Change from Dynamic IP to Static IP:
Mobile data has a dynamic IP address, which tends to alter every time you turn it on. So sometimes setting up a static IP address will solve the connection problem. The steps are to change from Dynamic to Static IP:
Step One: Navigate to Settings in the connected device, select Wi-Fi connection and long-press the name of the Hotspot, this will bring up a Menu, this setting can also be found under Modify Network of the Wi-Fi.
Step Two: Change the IP setting from Dynamic to Static IP, and then assign an IP starting with 192.168.x.x (Replace with any number from 1 to 255). Do not change anything else from the settings, press apply and this should fix the issue.
