Messaging Pictures on Watch - Samsung Gear S3

I use Google Messages as my default texting app. In the past, I receive pictures on my Gear S3 and I don't receive them anymore. Now my watch just says "Picture" when I get one from any app (Google Messages, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, etc.) and I have to look at my phone to see it. I even tried using Samsung Messages but that did work either.
Any idea why?
I tried searching for an answer but didn't come up with anything.

Yeah I haven't found a solution yet.

i just read that this went away after an update. I hope they fix it, but have slim hope. Its really annoying that you have to check your phone to see the images...
Same thing happening on Galaxy Watch too, it just says "Image"

[Question] Read Emails from the native Email Client from Samsung

Hey,
I read a lot in this forum, but I do have a question, I can not answer by myself...
Is it possible to read Emails on the Watch, which i receive in the Email Client on my Samsung (Note2) phone? I do not mean the Gmail App, but the native Email Client.
I hope I was able to make clear what I mean, my Engish is not the best.
Thanks for any help...

Just download an email reading smartwatch app from the play store. Sony has both an email and a Gmail apps available, so make sure to get the right one.
Try Augmented Smartwatch from the Play Store. It allows you to send any notifications from any Android phone directly to your watch, and even customize fonts, colors, and have longer messages shown across multiple screens. I use it for everything. Just configure it in settings to send you alerts from Samsung's email app, and any other alerts you'd like to see on your watch. As far as reading the whole email, I'm not sure this is possible, but you can certainly see the sender, subject, and the first few lines on most apps.

Just to be clear: english isn't my mother language, so...
I got my Smartwatch last friday. Started to play with it, and installed augmented smartwatch from google play store.
It works like a charm with my galaxy note II, but I had to disable all the TTS engines (google's and samsung's), even talkback, to get all whatsapp notifications on the watch (with sender and message). Also had to download sqlite3 from playstore, because the sqlite version embedded on my rom didn't work properly.
It's a known bug and even samsung's engineers say are working on.

For this case you can use an specific app for smartwatch (you can have stock samsung email app on your phone and another one just for your smartwatch) you can try Mail Notification it claims to let you read the whole email on the smartwatch.
I preffer just notifications that Watchit! (as augmented) show to me from any app I want and is pretty cool but these are just notifications not all the text is prompted.
Another option is not so good but actually works for what you want (if you want just the samsung email app) use AppWidgetDisplay and add into it the samsung email widget to show it on your watch (but text is not as readable as you will wish).
Another sugestion (if notifications are not enough), is better to use another email aplication as K9 mail (works perfect and is much better than stock one) this app have an smartwatch app to notify.

[Q] Sent/received messages separate

Hi,
just got my z3 and I have noticed my text messages are getting separated... but not from everyone. so like I text a person and then when they reply it doesn't put the reply in the same thread but creates another so I have to go back to look at it and then reply and that doesn't get shown in that thread but in the one I first sent from . if I look in the messaging up it has two threads.. one with all my sent to that person and another with all the received .... how can I fix this? and like I said it doesn't do it with everyone . Yes some 3rd party app does see them as the one but I would like to use stock. anyone help? fully upto date with stock 4.4.4
edit: even the new Google messenger does it
Thanks
Finally someone else with this issue. Thought i was the only one. Does this with one contact and is super annoying. No idea how to fix it either.
Bump
Do you mean SMS or which message type?

I'm also having this issue! Someone else suggested it might because I transferred from iMessage, but it only happens for some contacts, some of which do and don't have iPhones.
Yea SMS in messaging app. The only person it happens to has an iphone.

I don't use Whatsapp... and I actually dispute some of the info in that article (Hangouts works just as good as FB Messenger and Whatsapp from what I understand)... but I think I can clear up the confusion.
On the Gear S2 there is no Whatsapp app available to download and use. However, when you get a notification for Whatsapp on your watch you can still view the message in your notifications window and reply to the message with an emoji, a dictated reply, or a typed out message.
What it comes down to ultimately meaning, you can reply to messages, you can not initiate them.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, as I've said before, I do not use Whatsapp.

Has anyone noticed that sometimes when receiving an image on Whatsapp, the notification shows the image on the watch, but not always.
What gives?

For me it never shows, but the person pic profile sometimes shows, others don't
Hi,
I noticed the same thing on my gear S2, wherein the images show up sometimes but not always.. the same for the person's display picture as well..
Any fix to this??
There's a problem with the WhatsApp notifications, it only shows the last message for each person, instead of each and every message.

One can get WhatsApp notifications and even reply from Gear S2 but not start a session from Gear S2 or any gear at all. There is no app like the messenger app.

Issue with Google Messenger

Just received the Mate 9 that is officially released in USA, but discovered couple issues with Google Messenger:
1. Even for those who are in my list of contact, whenever they send me text, I can only seem them as "Unknown sender"
2. Can only receive text but no way to reply.
Any idea?
Hi, know issue, I've switched to Signal
I've also seen this issue pop up randomly. Does anyone know of a fix?

Yea, I've done the same just so I didn't have to deal with the annoyance. I do hope though that it gets resolved

GM works fine for me...stock does not when sending pictures.
Just an observation using OK Google command to send at text.
For example: If I say, Ok Google, Send a text to Joe.
It will let me dictate a text to Joe (in my contacts) but it does not record what I dictated in Huawei's messenger app.
Although it does correctly send the text using Huawei's app.
However, if I use Hangouts it does record what I dictated in the Hangouts app messager.
and the text is sent successfully.
The command I used was, Ok Google, Send a text to Joe using Hangouts.
I've been using Hangouts with GV and I have had zero issues so far
Same here. Also Google keyboard has non active gif option

I don't know if this will help, but - using the built-in SMS app - I quickly discovered that my contacts' mobile phone numbers must be in the format +1 ########## ("plus 1, space, 10-digit number with no spaces or hyphens"). That at least allowed me to send texts to individuals and see them as senders, but (as noted elsewhere in this forum), the built-in app does not send pictures nor does it handle group texts in MMS properly. Since Huawei warns against using third-party apps due to potential battery drain, I consider this a flawed phone and have requested a refund.
Having the same issue here, even worse with hangouts, in hangouts all texts show in one conversation thread,
I've tried the +1 space number and that didn't fix the issue for me
I had this issue as well unknown sender took the plunge and deleted all my texts and now have no issue with GM.
I tried to switch from stock apps to g-messenger but I experienced issues mentioned here:
* all messages are showing unknown sender
* there no option to reply
is this an issue with the messenger app or the phone version (MHA-L00) ?
The previous message issue is ok for now; just need to create new text message thread and it'll be fine.
The newer issue I'm facing has something to do with pictures in text message. I can send, but cannot receive. One way traffic ain't exactly too much fun at this point.
I had this issue too, even wiping all previous messages didn't work. SMS through Hangouts wasn't working either. I switched to Textra.
Great phone but a bad stock messenger app. So I switched to Google Messenger and the problems began with not receiving MMS. This needs to be fixed!

This did not work for me.
I downloaded the latest Google messenger apk from apk mirror and now it works. If you download the app from the play store it doesn't receive MMS. Also the only way to get rid of unknown sender is to delete all texts. The version I downloaded was Google Messenger 2.1.060 (3735832-30.phone) (arm) (nodpi) (Android 4.4+)

[Discovery][Guide] Android Wear App on phone boosts notifications on your Gear S3

Hey there,
as a user of both Gear S3 and LG Watch Urbane I've made a surprising discovery.
Namely, when you have Android Wear installed on your phone, some apps gets a functionality boost on your Gear S3
You can e.g. reply to Hangouts messages (via the notification) on the GearS3 directly from the smartwatch, using keyboard, smileys or voice input!!!
Without the AW app on your phone you could only click reply/show message in the GearS3 notification which caused a trigger action on your phone -- you could not reply directly from your smartwatch
Note:
Do not try to configure your GearS3 with the AW app, it won't work. Just install the app, run it and when it asks to configure your smartwatch just exit it.
This has been discussed in the past (some thread somewhere here) but nice to have a reminder.
well I couldn't find it and therefore added it here
I'm new to the Gear series so really appreciate this tip OP! Cheers! ?

Thanks for this will try.
Interestingly i use Android Auto and could not reply to WhatsApp, someone mentioned installing Hangouts, e voila works near perfect now.
Does this allow Google maps notifcations from the phone to gear S3?

Sorry I typoed, I can reply to Google Hangouts messages withOUT Android Wear installed...just did it.
Wouldn't work with S-Voice but canned replies and drawing letters worked.
I am on a Oneplus 3T
Maybe they changed something... It didn't work a month ago on my s7
I've only had my Gear S3 a few days, but it is working. Pretty sure I did a reply in Allo too yesterday.
Do you know what are the Android wear apps compatible with the Samsung Gear ?
On my side, I have discovered the very good "WearMail for Android Wear" app which works perfectly with the Samsung Gear watches.
This Wearmail app is very interesting as you can configure all type of email accounts including Office 365 accounts and it sends the content of the received mails to your watch via notifications. Very good.
pebble required aw fit the same reasons
