problem Google Maps - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello, I have a big problem using Google Maps app. This app does not use GPS. Other apps work perfectly with GPS. To use Google Map I need to terminate Maps and restart. After doing this the GPS work for some time.
My Phone is 10.0.1 firmware.
What can I do to fix problem?
Thanks in advance

Anyone find a solution to this issue? I'm having the same problem, bit with the Lyft driver app. It won't actually connect to the GPS after it's initially started.

Try this app from the Play Store. I use the paid version (pro) but there is a free version also. At least you will be able to determine if you have a hardware problem or not.

Every other app using GPS work without problem. GPS fix very fast... Only Google Maps fail. I have checked permission of app, also activated precise position using GPS and wifi and GSM... I can't understand the problem...

[Q] Problem With Nexus S GPS

Hi All, Please assist me, my new Nexus S is not connecting with the navigation system. It will search and search and them turn off. The funny thing is that the map worked perfectly, its just the navigation. Thanks,
Iwodamiorie
This is a known issue with new Nexus S's. It's caused by the Maps program giving up on the GPS too quickly. The solution is easy: download a 3rd party GPS utility app (I use "GPS Test"). Allow that app to run until it gets a solid GPS fix, and after that the Maps app (and by extension the Navigation app) should work correctly.
Note that getting an initial GPS fix could take up to several minutes, so be patient. The good thing about GPS Test is that it shows you the satellites as it sees them, so you get an idea of the progress.

[Q] No GPS signal on Navigon Select app on HTC HD7

Hi Guys,
I have installed Navigon Select on my HTC HD7 as explained in "Navigon Select GPS Navigation for WP7" but for some strange reason I am not able to see my current location, when I navigate to in the application I go to "GPS Info" it always says 0.0 and 0.0
My GPS location in turned on in the settings.
I get a pop-up message when i lunch the application that "Mobile Navigator" uses GPS data to locagte your position.
I thought that my gps might be broken but no... on the bing maps it shows exact location based on the GPS not on the mobile network signal.
I also tried "TA Maps" google maps and it shows location correctly...
I have reinstalled the navigon app but i got same results...
any help would be much appreciated,
ps. i wasn't able to replay to the post "Navigon Select GPS Navigation for WP7" because its my first post.

For anybody else who might have the same problem:
I got my gps on navigon working after uninstalling some of the apps which were also using GPS it seemed for me like there is a limit of how many apps can use GPS signal. I must admit I had about 20.

GPS doesn't work in Google Maps - but is okay in Navigation

I've got a problem. When I open Google Maps it doesn't seem to activate my GPS so my location is decided by the operator-network and/or wifi, and is not very precise. I've tried to keep Google Maps open for a long time but my location is never that precise as when the GPS is activated. Also if I log into Android Device Manager on the web, I only get a location with an accuracy of 1.5-2 kilometres so that's neither located by GPS.
But if I then enter a route in Google Maps and use the Navigation, the GPS is turned on and everything is fine. It's the same if I use Sygic GPS Navigation. I've got Avast Anti-Theft installed on my phone and if I log into avast.com and send a location command to my phone, it's also located by GPS with an accuracy of 5 metres.
I've installed 'GPS Status & Toolbox' and set the app to show an icon in my navigation bar when the GPS is used. And it's the same as described above - when Google Maps is open there's no icon but when I use Navigation the icon it's there.
I'm pretty sure that on my last phone (Samsung Galaxy S II) with Android 4.4.2 Google Maps also used the GPS and I've got a precise location every time, so my question is how to get it in the same way on my new phone (Sony Xperia Z1) with Android 4.4.4? There are many times I just want to see on Google Maps exactly where I am without using the Navigation directions to a specific location.

Have either of you guys tried clearing app data and see if that works? Every once in a while I get that to resolve my issues.

i don't know about the gps not turning on at all, but it is a somewhat known bug on googles end when wifi is used to help location services, it frequently causes accuracy issues.
try turning off your wifi and see how it acts.
Yeah, off wifi it's more accurate. But yes, rooter, just cleared my app data and that did the trick, thanks.

GPS Problem on Sultan XDA 6.0.1 Rom with Uber App

i am using Sultan XDA 6.0.1 Rom. Everything works fine but problem happens only when i use the Uber Taxi App. For some reasons unknown to me the app always shows my location a few kilometres away from where i am actually located. the location is set to high accuracy. Still it doesnt work. But the location shows perfect on Google Maps. i am running the 6th January release of the Rom. This is causing some problems to me as i use this app very frequently and wrong location causes issues.
If anybody has any idea why this is happening. And let me know if i need to post some additional information.
I too had this bug, but a recent Uber update seems to have fixed it for me Strangely, when i updated the app it didnt work, i had to uninstall and reinstall it (maybe a cache issue?)
Because Uber's GPS interface sucks. It has significantly worse accuracy than Google maps. You should see it from the point of view of the driver in the driver app. The GPS accuracy is so poor, that it constantly sends you on the wrong route, or tells you that you're on the next street parallel to where it thinks you are. That's why so many Uber drivers use Google Maps for their GPS navigation.
And Uber doesn't use their own maps, and that's a no go! They pull all map data from Google API. Their custom navigation system is the one that sucks.

Compass not working and GPS only working for Google Maps

My XZ Premium has the 47.2.A.10.107 build on it.
The Compass has stopped working and any GPS apps I use, apart from Google Maps, never find a GPS signal (GPS Status, GPS Test, Waze)
I find it odd that Google Maps will still work without issue though.
I have tried turning on and off 'Wi-Fi scanning' and 'Bluetooth Scanning' from within 'Locations Services'
Anyone have any ideas?
