GCam mods (mainly) for Omnivision sensor - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Themes, Apps, and Mods

EDIT: A lot has happened on GCam scene since the opening post, that's why it needs to be reviewed. Now we have much more GCams working well on mido, even with Omnivision sensor, including mods based on GCam 6, 7 and 8. Anybody interested in getting support is invited on the Telegram group:
https://t.me/rn4xphotography
I'm active there and with some friends we are trying to provide support for mido users. We have a channel as well, when we store tested GCams for all three sensor users:
Redmi Note 4 (mido) Photography
This is a channel where you will find all of the Redmi Note 4 (mido) supported Google Cameras and other useful stuff. Discussion Group : @rn4xphotography
t.me
Feel welcome there! For those who can't/don't want to use Telegram, I still keep my collection of GCams for Omnivision sensor on my Google Drive here:
GCam & other cams for mido - Google Drive
drive.google.com
Have a great shots and cheers!
If anybody has the Omnivision sensor and wants a working Google Camera with night sight, here is the best I have found (should work on other sensors too):
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1-Q4IDDWvOdQASC4h6d1mXGGntBuFBony
The first mod is called HyperCam - modified Google Camera version 6.1 - developed as far as I know by some Brasilian developers. Their Telegram group: https://t.me/gbcam
The files I uploaded on GDrive are HyperCam versions modified by user called Naazish, downloaded from Redmi Note 4 photography group on Telegram (https://t.me/rn4photography). They include fix of crashing the app under a heavy light, e.g. sunlight (fix originally prepared by Bulkin043 aka Parrot dev). Also I attached some settings in xml format prepared by me and other users. To apply the settings: After installing the app go to your internal storage, create the folder called "GCam", inside it create another folder called "Configs", and paste inside the xml file. Open the app and tap twice on an empty space in the bottom area of the app's interface. Select the xml file and tap "Restore". Feel free to adjust the settings according your own preferences.
Note: For a number of users enabling options "Motion picture", "Focus tracking" or "Sabre" causes camera crashes. Also remember, that the number of frames set in the enhanced HDR+ has an impact on the duration of taking the photo
The second mod is called trCamera, prepared by modder called tigr (Telegram channel: https://t.me/trCameraUpdates). It is based on GCam 7.2 and most features work well. I also uploaded some xml configs. To apply the settings: After installing the app go to your internal storage, create the folder called "GCam7", inside it create another folder called "Configs", and paste inside the xml file. Open the app and tap twice on an empty space in the bottom area of the app's interface. Select the xml file and tap "Restore".
Additionally I uploaded a version of Nokia Cam modified to be working on mido - one of a few with slow motion working.
I try to upload latest versions on my GDrive when they appear, as well as good xml configs from respectable users.
All credits goes to HyperCam and trCamera developers, Bulkin043 aka Parrot and all xml configs creators

If you activated HDR+ toggle in settings, the option should appear on the upper panel on the main screen and you should be able to turn it off. If the toggle in settings is turned off, the HDR+ is constantly active

Yea, the cam is not perfect, that's because of omnivision sensor, I belive, which is problematic... I'm getting purple hint somteimes in low light conditions and night sight. You can try to tweak Auto White Balance, Base and some other options to see if it would help. But I'm not able to get rid of this hint totally. At least this GCam mod is really stable and takes beautiful pics in good light condition

So do mine... I loaded xml for V6 as the base and I'm going to try new AWB settings for ov sensor, I just didn't have time yet and poor weather in my location
Sent from my mido using XDA Labs

I did some comparison of all auto white-balance settings in new HyperCam E1. As the base I used Naazish's xml v6, just changed photo ratio and turned on manual focus and AWB Gains mod. I took some shots in the evening inside my room and then during the day outside. Just remind I have omnivision sensor. On my Google Drive account I placed a folder with pictures for you to compare (i wrote down AWB setting used in top-right corner of every picture).
My personal observation is that in the dark conditions with artificial lights Pixel 3 gives the best results. Pixel 2 and OV13880 not bad too. IMX is overly warm, OV12A10 - too pale, Pixel 2, GM1 and Off - too pale plus purple hue. In the daylight, Off and GM1 gives best color rendering and vividness. IMX much too pale, Pixel 2, OV13880 and OV12A10 - average, Pixel 3 - bit better.
So for me there is no one best awb setting. Pixel 3 seems to be most universal, but since I take most pictures in daylight, I'll probably stay with Off most of the time.

[CAMERA MOD(S)] Tadi's libhacks (Pixel's chromatix exposures, new camera resolutions)

The first:
I really like to thank @shaneel1491 for introducing me to @defcomg and for making some mods by himself :>
At the starting point of this thread, I present you ported autoexposure tables from the Pixel. It won't likely positevely or negatively affect quality of your videos and photos, but it should certainly fix the exposure bugs (inconsistent framerate in Camera 1 API 120 fps mode and exposure flashes on Camera2 API apps, such as Google Camera).
The libs are few, but that's because they are the only chromatix autoexposure libs on Pixel. I plan to release BB KeyOne/Nokia/XZ1 versions likely.
Why the Liteon ones only? If you have such a module as Semco, then inform me here and I may work on it too.
Won't my device go boom? Not likely. I mean, I don't want to help fixing placebo bricks Just reflash your current ROM, that's it.
From what version those libs are? 7.9.7 (xiaomi.eu). If something big gets changed or something will start to work bad, then I likely will fix it one day.
How to even use them? ??? Use your root file manager and replace the current ones with mine in /system/vendor/lib/. Set 0644/rwrr permissions for each file. And better backup the original ones, as I won't download a system dump to send you those ;_;
So it means that they are not flashable? Exactly! I had no time for this currently :>
The current state for capricorn_exposure_7_9_7_pixelised.zip:
- everything works
- Camera2 API apps now go up to ISO 8714 in auto, instead of 6400 (the longest auto exposure time stays the same - 1/17s)
- Snapdragon Camera/MIUI Camera/Snap (LOS default) Camera/Moto Camera - HFR/HSR120 works properly, the framerate does not fluctuate
The current state for caprimods_310817_HFR120prof_all.zip:
- this pack was done for lulz/test
- it forces 1/120s exposure time as the max of every auto mode
- expect very high noise in lowlight
The current state for orig_7_9_7_vendorlibs.zip:
- just the fresh stock libs
- useful, if you are an anti-backup person :~D
The current state for libmmcamera2_mct_4056stall.zip: NEW (15.11.17)
- adds 4056x3040 (full possible res) and 4048x3036 (full possible ideal 4:3) photo resolutions
- wider FOV (field of view) is visible
- does not replace the standard 4000x3000
- Snapdragon Camera and Snap (Lineage-default) may not detect it, needs testing (Qualcomm aimed at their direct resolutions only)
- MIUI camera detects instantly
- some apps may need to be data-cleared to detect
The current state for libmmcamera2_mct_4048and4032img.zip:
- adds 4048x3036 and 4032x2268 photo resolutions
- wider FOV (field of view) is visible
- does not replace the standard 4000x3000 and 3840x2160
- Snapdragon Camera and Snap (Lineage-default) may not detect it, needs testing (Qualcomm aimed at their direct resolutions only)
- MIUI camera detects instantly
- some apps may need to be data-cleared to detect
good job bro !!

Works on everything, but it may be incompatible somehow with some very very old libs, but I think LOS is using some that are not more than month old.
Anyway, I'll realease a max resolution mod. As the default photo input is 4000x3000, video input is 3840x2160, while we can get 4048x3036 and 4032x2268.
Very cool. Could you add stabilization to 4k video?

[Share] Stable gcams v6.2.030 with tips

Hi guys,
Here I'm sharing the most stable gcams after testing the new releases, which works in our mido (it depends on the sensor your phone is shipped with). All credit goes to the respective devs.
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam-6.2.030_Arnova8G2_Urnyx05-v1.6.apk
Or
Try this from telegram channel(no external link available). It's working well and currently i'm on it.
https://t.me/rn4photography/107355
Everything works including rear portrait, night sight, time lapse but except slow motion as usual. If you want slow motion, use the attached oneplus cam, install as normal apk, go to settings give all permission & open, it should work.
P.S. - I tried only on pie roms.
Lag & fc fix:-
Use per app profile in kernel manager (fk kernel manager recommended) & create a profile with cpu & gpu governors in performance setting, save & apply for gcam app. Remember the more option you switch on it needs more ram & processing of pics takes more time, toggle only the options that are worth in settings.
I haven't faced any green tint issue, it depends on the sensor your phone has, if you face any, try this method or switch to some other builds.
Green fix in front camera:-
Go to settings
Enable hdr+ controls
Switch to front camera
Turn off hdr+ mode
Done.
Versions of 6.2.030 come to an end. Devs started working on 6.3
Hit thanks if it helped.
mkguru said:
Hi guys,
Here's the working version of latest gcam with no lag or fc (at least i haven't faced). I tried lot of latest version gcams but only this one worked nice & smooth for me, so i thought of sharing it along with the settings i use. All credit goes to the respective devs.
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/MGC_6.2.030_B-S-G-based_v.0.2_TlnNeun.apk
Everything works including rear portrait, night sight, time lapse but except slow motion as usual. I use oneplus camera in side for slow motion, working like charm. Lemme know if you need that apk.
P.S. I tried only on pie roms. I recommend not to use any magisk module related to cam like fps fix, cam booster, etc (except camera2api enabler).
Lag fix:-
Use per app profile in kernel manager (fk kernel manager recommended) & create a profile with cpu & gpu governors in performance setting, save & apply for gcam app.
Attached are my settings(mostly default except few) & w/wo night sight. You can try various libs as well, need to be connected to internet to download those inside the app, i use google stock libs here, you can experiment with others.

Did you connect to internet, if you're using any firewall give access to camera app, recently they added this libpatcher to reduce app size & it should work, idk why. I just try all the general builds in the official port site & sharing here the ones which works best for our mido.
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/MGC_6.2.030_DCIP3Version_Bulkin043_V8.2.apk
Recently i tried this, it has lens blur as well and working but sometimes fc occurs, if you're ok with that u can try this one. Attached is the libs selection screen.

Have you tried the lag fix mentioned in the post? Because gcam needs lot of ram to process pics. You can try other three builds i shared here and lemme know which one works for you.
Fyi - I use descendant pie rom.

Yes i mentioned already fc's happen in these builds with lens blur & sometimes while processing night mode. If you really need lens blur then wait for future builds, for stability use the first one (almost no fc's like i said)?
Edit:-
Try the second one in the my first post, added after testing but no photobooth, all are working(ofc except slow motion) and i haven't faced any fc's so far. Try for yourself n lemme know.

Try the second one, that's telegram link. I'm currently on that and it works well.
Hello everyone, I recently installed AOSP Extended(Android P)on my Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon with Samsung Sensor but I'm having trouble with GCAM. I tried the the GCAM build by Urnyx05 mentioned at the first post of this thread as well as many other builds by Arnova8G2 but although somehow stable they still face some issues. I have trouble with video capture, slow motion, taking HDR photos when zooming in, etc.
Which GCAM from here: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/ would you recommend for me to install that is stable and almost all functions working for Samsung sensor (and if possible is somewhat a recent version)??
Also, is there any gcam build that supports manual shutter?
I believe I found a perfect GCAM 6.2.30 for RN4X
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog595/
Change back cam setting to Pixel 2XL for Night Mode works better (without green tint)

Hi guys,
Here I'm sharing the most stable gcams after testing the new releases, which works in our mido (it depends on the sensor your phone is shipped with).

Which Gcam will be best for me?

Google Camera for Op7 Pro

Hello everyone, I am creating this thread to provide the stable and beta builds of gcam, to avoid confusion and to keep the forums clean.
Thank you @S4turno(Celso) for hosting, mirroring, translating and sharing all a to z Gcam..
Special Thanks to @Arnova8G2 for all his support and hardwork !!!!
FAQ GOOGLE CAM-
I CAN'T INSTALL X VERSION, WHY?
Make sure you uninstall every other GCam Port on your phone. You can't have two 6.1 gcam versions installed.
HOW DO YOU SWITCH BETWEEN CAMERAS?
https://drive.google.com/file/d/127r0_UNKMNY5MN5OrWYZISEleK8cZj4x/view?usp=drivesdk
HOW DO YOU USE NIGHTSIGHT WITH THE DIFFERENT LENS?
Select the lens in main mode, switch to Night Mode, then double tap the Camera Switch Button.
WHY THE FRONT CAMERA IS 4MP AND BACK CAMERA 12MP ?
Selfie camera uses pixel binning, same as for the main sensor. Since camera2api implementation only delivers a 4MP raw stream (16MP/4 = 4MP because of pixel binning)
GCam can only work with what raw stream the API delivers.
Same goes for back cam.
WHICH GCAM IS THE BEST ?
There is no best gcam. There are stable and beta builds which work fine for daily usage, but not the best. There may be some crashes here and there.
WHICH XML IS THE BEST ?
The xmls provided in the folder whose link is given below are the best at the moment.
HOW TO USE XML ?
A link to Celso Azevedo site is given below which clearly explains how to import and export xmls.
Mod Edit: Link removed
WHY COLOURS ARE DULL ??
Sometimes the settings may not be applied by the xmls, and in 6.2 gcam, you need to manually set saturation levels.
Also changing awb can help.
Use the xml.
Use the settings from the given screenshots for 6.2 gcam.
WHY CAMERA CRASHES ?
Changes in libs may cause crashes, in such a case clear app data.
WHY AUX CAMERAS ARE NOT WORKING ?
You need ROOTED DEVICE for now to use aux cameras.
METHODS TO USE AUX CAMERAS- There are 2 methods:-
1) Setting selinux to permissive by-
1a) Using nfs injector magisk module or renovate ice magisk rom.
1b) Using custom kernels like Kirisakura or Smurf
2) Installing gcam as a system app-
2a(Install any of the 6.1 gcam app as a standard user app by installing the apk as you would normally.
2b)Open the camera app and enable the usual set of permissions (local storage, camera, etc.)
3)Use the magisk module given below
https://drive.google.com/file/d/19lwuT8koKQG3dod9nW2xzVHxWGQR-K3W/view?usp=drivesdk
The link below will provide the Gcams working-!!
THERE ARE 1) XCAM BETA 11
2) GCAM 6.2 WITH XML SUPPORT
3) GCAM 7 BETA
IN THE FOLDERS WHICH THE LINK BELOW PROVIDES !!
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1-FAjRY4S5PIBnL2vsf0Fm-pVw3QwOi2s
Another link for xmls-
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/oneplus-7-pro/
*These are the stable gcam, everything works perfectly except slow motion, stable for daily usage, also they support auxiliary cameras.
If you want to use aux cameras in
night sight and video mode, use xcam.
TO USE XML ON 6.2, LOAD XML TWICE!!
A quick guide on how to use xmls. -

Thanks to @S4turno
Urnyx 6.2 (No XML SUPPORT)(STABLE)-
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam-6.2.030_Arnova8G2_Urnyx05-v2.4.apk
Urnyx 7.2 (No XML Support)(STABLE)-
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam_7.2.010_Urnyx05-v1.3.apk
Star Cam based on Gcam 7 (STABLE)-
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam_7.0.009_StarCam_v1.apk
*For gcam 6.2-
Firstly, after installing apk, go to settings, go to about and enable "Enable Advanced Mode"
*For 6.2 Urnyx gcam-
It is a simplistic mod, not much to edit.
Guide:
- How to use manual controls?
- First of all, you must use HDR+ Enhanced. Then, enable the options in settings to show the sliders (only the 1st time). When you are in viewfinder to take a photo, click on "Pro" button to join the pro mode, where you can see all the sliders. Now, you can set any values you want. At the end, tap on the screen to apply changes (otherwise it won't work)
NOTE-
1) Only this version of 6.2 supports xmls-
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_V2.2.2beta2.190907.0540.apk
2) Slow motion doesn't work for now.
3) Lens distortion in wide lens.
How to have multiple gcams installed-

Hey, yes the 4k 60fps works but only with main cam, 4k works with aux cameras but only on 30fps.

Thank you...
Thanks! This works great....running intl version rom on tmobile op7pro with elementalX kernel... Used the desaturated xml, looks good. Also turned down saturation for main back camera as it was still a tad high....its weird because in viewfinder(screen) it looks ok, its only when the photo is processed is where saturation gets boosted....those settings are under "advanced" " highlight saturation" 1.3 and for "highlight shadows" 1.1 .....for anyone that wants to know. Also turned up jpeg quality to 100
Maybe this is a stupid question, but where is the apk file located initially?

I've noticed in 6.1 that motion photos don't work and portrait mode crashes in the selfie camera. Aside from that, this is the best gcam I've used so far!

Sorry, I probably should have made my question more clear. I have the app installed. But where can I find it in my phone's directory to move it to /system/priv-app, in order to get aux camera working?
