I've been looking around for awhile now and I was wondering if anyone knows a way of getting a Mono Audio accessibility feature added to the Settings on a HTC One X?
I do not need this feature for a bluetooth headset. I am deaf in my left ear so when I fire up Play Music, Pandora or Spotify I'm only listening to the right channel of a stereo output. Poweramp offers a mono feature and I could sync my music manually but that isn't a global setting on the device so it doesn't help with Pandora or Spotify.
I've also tried a stereo-to-mono adaptor and I hated how poorly the sound was reproduced. That would also kill the remote button so... yea there's that too.
This is an accessibility feature I first discovered on the iPhone 3Gs and I know GS3 also has this feature available in their accessibility settings.
Is there any way possible an audio mod or tweak could bring this same feature to the One X? Any input is greatly appreciated.
[EDIT] In DSP Manager, there is a setting called Headset Virtual Room Effect, enabling this merges seems to merge the left & right channels. IMHO it's not well documented but this essentially enables the GS3 or iPhone's "Mono audio" accessibility option. For people who are deaf in one ear like myself, this is an essential feature and I'm glad I've finally found it.
For those who are lucky to have two good ears, imagine listening to the Beatles "Taxman" with a broken left channel. That's a very drastic case where the music bed is panned left and the vocals and guitar are on the right. Modern records don't seem to be that drastic but every once in awhile I miss a bit of lyrics or a guitar solo that's panned left. With VRE balance is restored. :victory:
Hello, I created this little app for my personal use, but i tought that maybe someone find it useful.
What it does? It allows controlling your music player (play/pause) by simply shaking your phone from left to right.
If your headphones doesn't have dedicated media buttons, app allows you easily stop music without taking phone out of pocket/unlocking/tapping on player or widget.
After pluging-in your headphones you have option to enable or disable shaker, you'll know it is enabled by notofication.
Plugging-in headphones also makes your phone go to "vibrate only" state, cause hearing roaring ringtone in middle of great guitar solo by Van Halen is rather disturbing experience.
Should work with any player that supports headset media buttons (just remember to activate them in player settings).
Will try
Sounds good :good: will definitely give it a try
Always wanted an app of that kind
sound is good, will try this app
This is a life saver for parents
o to Settings - sound and vibration - Seperate App sound (all the way at the bottom)
turn on and pick the app you want(limited to 1 app at a time)
Then choose the location (I chose Music to bluetooth)
This way I can still listen to music and be able to hand my daughter my phone so she can watch youtube
Impressive, didn't think of that as a use case. Although I don't think I'll be handing anyone my phone just yet
For example (?) : can you watch a video/broadcast mute (sport game), and listen TuneIn ( running commentary ) at the same time ?
Actually android is deeply missing basic audio mix table !
Also can you (lucky owners) tell us if :
-AKG earphone are ip68 waterproof ?
-Google Music can be uninstall/disable ?
-is embedded EQ working with any browser/video app ?
Thx for sharing...

I have a specific question/problem related to this:
Currently I have Google Play Music assigned to Bluetooth.
This is cool because in the car, I can play music - but then play a game or something at the same time.
HOWEVER.....
In order for this to actually work, you have to go to the audio connections hub thing in the notification shade.
And switch your audio output to the phone.
THEN with the audio output set to the phone - itll use the override and send the play music to bluetooth.
You seemingly have to do this every time (I even used Tasker and Autotools custom settings, trying to detect which setting gets changed and make it automatic.... but couldn't see a related changed setting in the settings lists).
A bigger problem though, amidst my messing around to try to make this work better....
I selected "turn off connections manager" option.
Now I don't get that stuff in the notification shade at all.
And I cannot find a single setting that lets me access it again!
So now I can never use separate app audio.
Can someone help me!?!?!?
I have found this feature usefull for SatNav.
I have the phone connected to car bluetooth, so ALL audio on previous phones goes to the car - so as im listening to streaming radio etc, the satnav voice from TomTom kicks in and can be quite annoying - especially as I only want the voice for traffic and speed cameras.
With this feature, I can still stream music to the car but have the audio come through the phone speaker - well done Samsung

Same, once disabled there doesn't appear to be a way to get it to reappear

Give SoundAbout a look. There isn't much it can't manage.
One of my issues with the Google ChromeCast is that when the phone is used as a source, all audio is sent over that ChromeCast connection.
You cannot divert the audio to Bluetooth for bluetooth speakers/headphones.
Does anyone know if this new Samsung feature will allow you to divert ChromeCast audio to Bluetooth?
That would be pretty darn cool if it did.
EDIT: Btw, I don't have the Samsung phone.
I was linked here from a Google Pixel thread. But I'm really interested to know the answer to my question above.

Download Sound Assistant from Samsung in the play store. When you adjust volume hit the icon and then expand the window. To the right of the app volume slider you can switch sound output.
Found the "Audio output" control! Yess!!

Thanks to the post above I was finally able to find the setting to enable the option to select the Audio output on my phone (Samsung S8+) see pictures attached. So if you've lost the option to select the audio output of you S8 follow these steps. (Not to be confused with with Separate app sound, which routes different apps to a bluetooth or phone output)
Find the Samsung Connect app
Click on the three dots to bring down the menu
Tap Settings
Tap Samsung Connect panel
Ensure this is turned on
Tap on Always show
and Finally tap on Audio output << This is the one! :good:
I have an Ottocast U2-Plus Android AI box. When I have a music app and a navigation app active at the same time, the audio will switch to a "low quality" mode when the navigation app provides me with directions.
An example of this type of activity can be found here in this YouTube video at 13:15. This activity is different than when Android Auto is active with both a music app and a navigation app active at the same time. In Android Auto, when the navigation app provides me with directions, it will lower the volume of the audio feed from the music app, provide me with directions at full volume from the navigation app, and then it will play music of the audio feed from the music app at full volume. When using a music app and a navigation app from the Android AI box, the audio will switch to a "low quality mode," (e.g., many of the speakers will shut off, and I'll hear some static in the background in addition to the volume of the audio feed from the music app being turned down) which is incredibly jarring.
In the YouTube video I linked to, the video creator provided a workaround for the Google Maps app where this behavior won't be observed if you turn off "OK Google" detection while driving. However, this doesn't fix the issue with Waze, which is the navigation app I primarily use. Turning off "OK Google" detection while driving in Waze does not fix this issue.
Does anyone know of a workaround or fix to avoid the "low quality" sound mode issue for an Android AI box when using a music app and the Waze navigation app? I'd preferably like advice pertaining to the Ottocast U2-Plus, but I'm still within the return period for the U2-Plus, so if you know of a fix for a different Android AI box, I wouldn't mind that recommendation.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to provide!
Oh, after some experimentation I figured it out.
I guess for Waze it's the "play sound to phone speaker setting." So, you need to go into Settings->Voice & Sound->Play sound to phone speaker needs to be set to OFF.
Thank you for taking the time and sharing this, really helped me!
Hi to all,
I've came across Google amplifier app, which dramatically improve voice quality on my Joying headunit
Sound Amplifier - Apps on Google Play
Filter, augment, and amplify the sound around you and on your device.
play.google.com
Only downside is that you have to manually start this app after headunit boot. If anyone have some idea how to automate this step, please let me know
