I wanted to play some unity game but it dont really fit our poco screen (black bars) and I wanted to change resolution sadly I typed it in wrong boxes and poof, my touch stopped working. I was shocked, first tried use adb but nope, had to disable it (Freak you fortnite).
Ok So TWRP ya? Maby reflash of rom will help? Still nothing and I stuck now on locked screen. But wait! adb works on twrp! googled some stuff and found "adb shell wm reset" but guess what, it dont do anything. Only one mind I got from here was a WIPE but then I remembered myself about that old usb c Hub I got while ago... pluged it to my phone, mouse to one port and keyboard to second one, powered my phone and typed password, few second later clicked on this painfull app and typed CORRECTLY screen resolution and later dpi in developer settings.
Mission Complete I saved it

OK, this is going to sound waaaay out there.
In the past week, I've had two G1's crap out on me. Well, one crapped out on me (the keyboard), and the RMA came damaged. #3 arrived yesterday, and it's rooted, Cupcaked and ready to go.
I restored the RMA unit back to RC33 without root. Everything OK, it's good to go back to the factory.
On the first one though - I went back to RC29 and re-installed the original SPL. What I didn't realize was that the custom splash image that I had installed wouldn't be overwritten in the process, so you guessed it - I've got my custom image coming up right after the G1 splash screen.
I'm still on RC29, so I'd just root it, except for one nasty little problem - not all of the keys work. Particularly - the enter key, which makes starting the telnet daemon impossible (at least to me).
So that's where I am. Does anyone know how I might either be able to root this sucker without having access to the enter key (is it possible to run a script, or is there another keystroke combo substitute for enter)? Is it possible to remap keys? Is there some other way to change that splash image back?
Or am I resolved to sending this thing back with a splash image that screams 'hey, this thing isn't stock!'
use adb to start telnet?
You could probably use ADB somehow, not sure the specifics though. Just out of curiosity, what is ur splash??

You used RC29 DREAIMG.NBH and it didn't reset your custom splash? Interesting.

yeah send it like that... i had the same problem as you... and forgot to change the splash image... but i sent it like that to tmobile... been 2 months already and they havent said anything....
I cant seem to get adb working - isnt the HardSPL a requirement for adb? Would it be running on a stock RC29 phone with the regular SPL?
I thought of trying an app with a soft keyboard, but I don't know whether that'll work. I ran out of time to play with it yesterday so today's first try will be the soft keyboard.
My splash isn't anything offensive, just a picture of my kids. And it does come up after the initial splash screen (it seems the NBH file is resetting the first splash only, since I had put it in both spots). Failing the soft keyboard, its going to be time to send it back the way it is and hope TMo doesnt get bent out of shape (the phone does work and its in pristine condition, just a few of the keys are shorted somehow, and the water damage indicator is as white as can be).
Thanks for the suggestions though!
The original Eng. SPL supports fastboot..
I don't know if you can find it - I'm pretty sure the one in the sticky is signed with the test keys. And if you do find it, will the phone let you apply it??
Just throwing out an idea...
Good luck.

Interesting - I'll seek out and report back. Thanks for the tip!
Nope - no dice To get the engineering SPL installed you still need to have the modified recovery image working.
What am I missing here - does adb need something else to work? I thought it'd work with a stock phone, although without root it'd be of lesser value.
no special form of adb is needed to use adb, what you are going to need to do is try this:
adb shell input text telnetd
adb shell input keyevent 66
those two commands are exactly like if you had typed them on the phone itself the first obviously types telnetd and the second hits enter for you. try it out and let me know if you need any more help, i may or may not be on most of the day i am going to see star trek tonight
also you wanna make sure that usb debugging is turned on in your options i think it's settings>applications>developement>usb debugging but i might be wrong, my phone isn't nearby

Thanks for the suggestion - I did get adb back, but when I entered the first shell command after connecting, I got the 'telnetd' up , but the carriage return/enter seems to not be working.
ok, well my next suggestion is a stretch and i'm gonna need to research a few things to even know exactly what to do, but what if you change the mapping of the keys so that whan you hit the enter key the phone responds by pressing the alt key and visa versa. i am not sure where the key mapping is stored i am looking for it now, but it seems like it would work ok(in theory)

That was one of the first things I thought about trying, but couldn't find any way to remap the keys. I'm going to go back to searching for it.
Well, I'm giving up.
I've tried everything I can think of, along with a few suggestions here. It seems that unless I start the telnet daemon from the home page with the keyboard it just ain't happening. Not an adb command, not a soft keyboard (and I tried a couple). Nada.
Thanks again for all your help - now I just have to hope this thing doesn't run up a red flag over at T-Mo...
Hello, Im new guy here. Im using LG P880 4x (Android version 4.0.3) HD phone and I have these problems. Hope someone can help me.
Actually I have three questions, but two of them is assigned to the first Topic
First:
Noticed that I am using version 4.0.3 - a little old, and there is a problem when I try to update phone with LG updater it shows that I have the newest update. But it's a lie I think. It shows that i thas never updated my phone. Thats one thing, thats not so imortant.
Secont thing about version update is about bootloader. I have red a lot of tutorials and other articles about "How to unlock bootloader" but nothing happens, with that adb command, i think it was like this "adb restart oem-install" well something like that. And i tryed a lot of other adb commands from tutorials. For this (adb restart oem-install) it just restarted my phone and nothing happaned. Another thing about his. when I acces that hiden menu 3845#*880# (i think it was like that). Tutorials showed that there I can see my bootloader status (lets say staus, dont know how to name it), but when I open this menu, There's not menu called Bootloader. So I cant install cyanogenmod, because everywhere in tutorials it was sayed that i need to unlock bootloader.
Second:
Its about lock screen. I want to change lock screen from default to another. Right now Im using LockerPro. Everything works i thing good, but that original lock screen is messing everything. Sometimes when i lock screen and then unlock in shows my original lockscreen - sometimes it shows original lock screen and then after like 2 secs shows thad LockerPro, but sometimes it shows original nad when I unlock screen it then again shows that LockerPro lockscreen and I need to unlock phone again. That a little bit annoying.
Hope to get some help, atleast with second problem..
My Nexus 5 has water damage and at first wouldn't turn on at all. After taking it apart and cleaning it up, it will be picked up by the PC but no screen. I figured I can just backup my files through the computer, but it shows it as empty in windows. I am guessing it's because of the gesture unlock? I tried to do the gesture even though the screen didn't turn on in hopes that it would still take it, but I don't think the digitizer is working because the computer never showed it as unlocked. Maybe I messed up since I can't see what I am doing on the screen, but I am pretty sure it's just not taking my gesture input. I am trying to get the files backed up (mostly care about pictures, but having access to the downloads and music would be nice).
I got it to boot into the bootloader ( I think) because device manager reads it as "Android bootloader interface" now. Can I turn on adb with fastboot? I was goolging it and read that I can backup my files with adb shell? When I run 'adb devices" it shows nothing. When I run "fastboot devices" it shows the device. Thanks in advance!
Hey guys,
just replaced my screen by myself and it isn't working. It boots and the screen lights up for a few seconds but thats it. So it seems like I ****ed up somewhere. :/
Now I've got some questions for you guys.
1. What could cause this error? Since it's already not working I don't mind taking it apart some more and trying to fix it.
2. Do you think if I send it to the support from OnePlus they will take a look at it?
3. The whole reason I did this was to get my data back. Is there any way to access the data on the phone without the touchscreen? I encrypted it using CynogenMod. USB-Debugging is enabled.
Thank you so much guys, I'd really appreciate some help. This **** is really tearing me down since it was a lot of work.
I did this on my own phone but Idk about OPO. If you use the power+voldown method to boot into recovery (yes ik nothing on screen) then connect a usb and see what happens
If you power it on, wait 5 mins then call it and if the phone rings you should be able to rule out the display and speakers and storage, obvs if the display is still not on at this point it is probably the display.
you can also adb from recovery and or fastboot so you should be able to see it in there if it is still working (make sure you change the phone for a decent amount of hours before you do any of these) If the display is dead its likely its been on for the last day and dead
Sorry for the late answer, really appreciate your help!
So if I connect the phone to the PC (tried it in recovery and in normal mode) windows detects the phone under "Devices" but sadly if I type in "adb devices" in cmd it doesn't detect the device.
But still, windows is detecting the phone so it seems to still function. I booted into recovery and I could use the touscreen and the lower buttons. I couldn't see anything but it was vibrating whenever I was using the touscreen. So it seems like only the display part is broken.
Can't call the phone since it's fully encrypted so I need to type in a password before booting anything (recovery, normal mode, ...)
I'll try to contact the vendor of the display and see what he has to say.
If anyone got any more tips I'd appreciate them. I'm a pretty big noob so I even appreciate "common sense" tips.
I know this may be a "common sense" thing to say, but double check your connections. Sometimes the connectors aren't made properly and a pin could be covered so you can try connecting and disconnecting several times to see if it clears up.
Since the touch screen was registering and vibrating, then it could be the backlight that's broken. Try holding a flashlight at an angle and see if you can make out anything on screen. If it's the backlight, then you can probably back up your data in case your phone does end up breaking.
reconnected everything multiple times and also tried the flashlight trick. sadly with both no luck
but something good:
adb recognizes my phone in "recovery"
bad news: no commands work, most likely because the phone is encrypted. if I enter a command nothing happens, it looks like its loading forever.
any ideas?
Hey!
I also had the same problem after I replaced OPO's screen about one year ago. The replacement screen was from ebay.
I could see the Cyanogen logo but after a few seconds the screen became black. Booting into recovery mode worked well.
On the video also ROM boots well but the screen stays black.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcWDCJIkPKQ
Eventually, the screen was defective and I returned it and bought new one.
hello, i have an INCO aurora iis tablet, everything was fine, BUT, suddenly i changed the wallpaper and the next time i turn it on, my screen was black, but no other problems, this happened 3 times, and on third time, i got an error, it says: system.ui has stopped working, i can continue using my tablet, i uninstall a lot of things, cleaned cache, but it still pop up, i was able to play, but the shortcut touch buttons dissapear and appear, but i was using the tablet like that, then it got worse:
next i cant do anything, the error dont stop appearing, i can press quickly some buttons like menu or things and touch on clore the error, and when i tried to change the wallpaper, it said: (name of the animated theme) has stop working, if i dont put an animated background, the tablet reset, then of course, it got worse, i cant tap on anything, the error is so fast i cant press nothing, and if i managed to tap on config or something, tablet restarts, i installed some programs on my pc, and i was able to backupp my images and some other things, BUT
this is the main problem, it will be short:
my tablet isnt rooted, and there is a game called teaching feeling, that i couldnt find the game data, it is there, on my tablet, but i think i need to root my device to get them, but, i already read some info here and around the web, that i can backupp that stuff using adb, but my windows xp isnt the best for that, i use a windows 7 pc and cant do anything, when i run 'adb devices". it dont show nothing or it says it isnt a command or something like that
the question is: i will be able to backupp that game data?
2 what causes the error? i uninstalled all google updates and some of google software, but it didnt fix anything
actually the tablet dont go beyond the inco logo, it keeps restarting, hard reset will fix it?
but , i cant hard reset everything and lose my important game data sorry for my grammar and the long post, thank you for your help.
