Will J7elte ROMs and TWRP work on J7e3g? - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

If what I researched right both J7elte and J7e3g are variants of Galaxy J7 2015 SM-J700H model. Most ROMs I see here for J700H are made on J7elte variant. So can I flash those ROMs and TWRP on my J7e3g?
I am aware that there's already another thread with same question. But the guy claimed that he gets black screen when he flashes J7elte ROMs on his J7e3g. So I wanted to be completely safe about it all.
Any explanation will be much appreciated, Thanks!

no custom rom or stock debloated roms?

hiyo,
i was under the impression that the Exynos international version was able to be unlocked and all that?
Anybody know why there are no custom roms at all, or any stock rooted debloated version or anything?
I am fully aware that i am not entitled to anything, but i was just wondering because the Edge version does have a couple of roms.
I am acually quite satisfied with stock with bloat and all, but was just wondering.
as there are already two roms out for the edge I hope that we won't have to wait long anymore for the flat, since the only difference is some lines in the kernel
I will definitely throw a couple of bucks to the developer of the rom. Waiting patiently.
Delivered by my Silver SM-G930F.
I will soon get an S7, a normal one, this means I will build a rom (stock based )
I have a build of this ROM working for S7, but I don't want to start a topic for it out of respect of @mwilky

Ok, guessing patience is the key. Was just getting nervous.

Hi how do you installed the renovate rom on your S7 flat ( kernal s7 ) ?
I think [email protected] would need to ask mwilky for permission to post. Like [email protected] said, it's all about respect.

Well, probably all S7 edge custom rom will work on flat S7(better but not due is to use G930F stock kernel instead of G935F, even it works)
If developer wants to pubblish it, is his choice. Or just ask him, but if u post it, you have to be able to maintain it(solve all bugs if there any)
Most of people has choosen the edge version, which means that our flat one will have later.... i have already a deodexed S7 and S7edge stock rom under alpha stage.... let's see if i will pubblish it, i'm not a developer)

Hi Alex,
Having switched from the S5 to the S7, I know you from the Phoenix roms (respect to Tamirda!).
Do you know if Tamirda will be switching to S7 or S7 Edge any time, now that he has repaired his S5 cracked screen ?
If so, I'm really looking forward to it.
I am too very interesed in custom roms, especially for the S7.
Can you please explain more how S7 Edge roms will most probably work on flat S7 as well ?
Is it because they share a very large part of the same hardware ? (only kernel is different and screen size?)

What kind of changes did you have to make to boot it on the s7? Minor ones that anyone can do or more drastic ones?

Hi mate welcome to S7
@tamirda sadly remains still on S5, he's in the army and need some help for upgrading to S7
You can flash all S7 edge custom roms, you have just to replace kernel(S7 edge one will cause touch not working)
see you around my friend

no, inside the ROM zip you have kernel folder, replace boot.img with mine then flash with TWRP, if you then have problem with wifi not saving passwords add this line to build.prop ro.secure.storage=false

Flash a G930F Rom on a G930K SGS7?

Hello everybody,
I'm looking for the answer of my question but I still didn't find it. I live in Hong Kong and I bought a SGS7 from Korea, the model is SM-G930K. The phone is unlocked but there are bloatwares from the carrier and I can't remove the sound of the camera on this model.
That's why I was wondering if I could use an international rom like from the SM-G930F? I wanted to try but I'm afraid of bricking the phone. The SM-G930K from Korea is also a Exynios version, so I really hope I can flash it with an international rom.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I made a mistake! How move the topic to the questions and answers section?
G930K user here, too. Yes you can, but directly flashing G930F firmware through odin is not possible due to difference in partition sizes. Still, you can flash custom ROMs which can be installed through TWRP(e.g. Superman ROM).

But custom ROMs have to mention G930K or not? Or just a classic custom ROMs from G930F is ok?
I remember, a long time ago, may be before Android, I edited the ROM just with an hexadecimal app, and I could change the model and some stuff. We can't do something like this neither?

Just flash G930F ROMs, it doesn't matter whether G930K support is mentioned or not. No need to edit anything.

Isn't it what the re-partition option for?
Sorry to bump an old thread, but that't the clearest discussion I've found so far regarding flashing on the K variant.
I'm asking this for the S7E though (G935K > G935F) and everyone on the other forum says that it is just impossible to do anything on the K version ( which seems weird to me since the hardware is exactly the same and root/TWRP work fine).

I made a research during few weeks about that, and it's still not clear. I have also read that the modem is faster than the classic S7. But I have not found a loud and clear answer.
Until someone try to flash a G930F rom on a G930F phone, we won't know.

Hi. Apparently you cannot. If you want another rom, you have to install an alternative recovery, root your phone, and install a custom rom.

Hi. No you cannot. Check my previous message, the only way is to install custom rom.
Those devices have same hardware. But the partition sizes are different. If you want to know, just flash custom recovery (TWRP) to your korean S7 and flash LineageOS or RR. Because all of them suggested our devices as well like this: (G930 F|W8|K|L|S). It will fail when you try to flash it by recovery. Because Galaxy S7's Korean variant's partition sizes are different from international and canadian S7s. There was one guide to flash AOSP ROMs to Korean S7's. There will be guide to resize of partitions on ROM's installation. But all commands are needs Linux Based OS, but not Android. I was tried it by Termux on my Galaxy S7. ext2simg command was still not available on Android's terminal . Others was available... so sad. And python codes are so simple to run. One day I will try it on Linux Based OS'd PC.

Not fine. But our devices have same hardware (F = W8 = K = L = S). Only the partition sizes are different. You just need to flash custom recovery (TWRP) then choose custom rom what you want for your S7. I'm suggesting SuperMan ROM and BatMan ROM. They are so stable, and clean. BatMan ROM was not fully stable on my G930K. Then I tried SuperMan ROM's clean, stock installation method on AROMA. It was really clean and Stable on my G930K. Try it bro :fingers-crossed: all of them TouchWiz interfaced. If you want try AOSP, you need to resize your partition sizes by this guide.
Is it possible that I install twrp to install smg930fd firmware in my smg930s Samsung s7 and uninstall twrp after doing this ?

j700T variant ROMs?

I know there is a dedicated SM-J700T (T-Mobile&MetroPCS) variant forum, although I am seeing a new releases for the j7 2015 exynos .
Would that not cover the 700T? Same chipset.
Cannot get a straight answer, and haven't tried flashing one... yet..

Hey buddy here's it straight... They do not work.
They randomly reboot after one min. They don't work at all, unless u flash one of our nougat kernels. Working on some ports right now. There was a huge porting issue and we almost got it. Some of the MM roms worked fine if you flashed mina kernel after installing. With nougat it's different, even slightly, so they don't work right.
Thanks for the reply.

My mistake then. My apologies.
So this WILL work on the edge? Does it work on the 925T (T-Mobile?)
Is the battery drain THAT significant? I know when I simply rooted my wife's S7, it had significant battery drain and lagged like no other. Has anyone tried using a kernel editor and limiting the processor?

I actually use NexusOS Android Pie ROM on my 925F it works perfectly and the only known bug is the Bluetooth audio call not working. Battery life is same as always not impressive and I have to live with it.
I don't know if it's again XDA to put the ROM download link here since the thread is about RR but you can google for it.

I hope by now you were able to fix your device? You should download the original software for you device with Samsung smart switch for PC, it will restore your device to the original firmware and recovery then you can try flashing TWRP for your device again using Odin. And from there any custom recovery
On my g925f it just randomly reboots

root/custom OS for A8

i normally do it through TWRP and the guides i looked at shows its compatible but when i check the device list...
https://twrp.me/Devices/Samsung/
my model isnt listed on there. Will this still work? and any recommendations for custom OS i see that lineage OS isnt supporting this device
i was able to get TWRP.

Same, its just the same as a530f
Just imagine as if your device was a530f and everything will work fine and there are some custom roms, just not on xda...
One is salimskiy rom which is oreo touchwiz (im using that right now)
Theres another one which is on the roms category of this forum, elite custom rom, but that one is outdated (7.1.1) and its made for a730f not a530f
Lel i was the one who tested mesa's 3.2.2-0 twrp and i have a530w
