Screen Issues on OnePlus 7 Pro [Stock] - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

2 screen issues annoying me on my OP 7 Pro.
1. When scrolling on a white background at lowest brightness, there's severe ghosting on anything black. This is more apparent when Night Mode is on. Night mode: More warm, less lightness. Notice the Uber and Uber Eats icons on the app drawer in (attached videos in zip folder). Notice in the Harvey's video, white letters inside the icon get covered by the ghosting around it.
I noticed this since the previous 9.6.10 build. This is still there on OxygenOS 10. Very annoying when using the phone in the dark.
2. At brightness around 30-40%, Night Mode Off, on the lock screen, notice the live wallpaper distorting on dark colors (lower left area). Video attached "lock screen".
I only noticed this since I switched live wallpaper to this particular one. I didn't check out this live wallpaper before OxygenOS 10, so I don't know if this is related to the new build or not.
Running Stable OxygenOS 10.0, 90Hz, DC dimming ON, Adaptive brightness ON, P3 color gamut. My camera is the Red Magic 3, so poor quality and 60fps video. This is much more noticeable on the OP display. Crank up brightness on your screen when viewing the videos.

I was using a GS6 for 2.5 years as my daily driver, never noticed this. Noticed it just a month into using the OP 7 Pro. Plus, the GS6 screen can get even more dim in the dark than the OP7 Pro screen.

It is. The extent can vary. Pixels have it more severe. The tab S4, s6 and S10 plus, mate 20 pro etc all had it. it's an oled thing

[Q] A part of my screen is slightly brightest than the rest

Hello,
I have a few days with my device and I love it.
Yesterday I updated my phone using Odin, but my phone was in a Flash mode for about 1:30, I kept rebooting it to avoid any burn in.
Today I noticed my phone has a part (like a band) of the screen that is brighter than the rest of the screen, only visible on gray background and with low screen brightness.
Is this normal in AMOLED screens? Doesn't seem to be burn in at all, it's just a brightest segment of the screen. Not sure if this is normal in AMOLED. Overall, I love the screen and colors, just want to know if this brightest band in the middle of the screen is something normal in this kind of display.
Thanks!

I think all have this and uneven whites but it's the luck of the draw how severe you have it
Same here I put it next to my s5 and the s5 is perfect on mine it's brighter at the bottom very frustrating
Are you guys referring to what my phone has? http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/uneven-backlight-yellowish-hue-half-t3085887

I have this on my S8+!!! It's terrible. It's getting darker as time passes.

Yellowish screen galaxy s7

I got my S7 today, the first thing I noticed is that the whites looked quite dull and uneven on the display, for example when browsing and scrolling up and down I'd notice the uneven white background, one side is brighter than the other.
This has always been the case for me on just about every samsung amoled I've had and it's always taken replacements to get a display I like.
I went into a store today and compared my S7's to the ones they had on display, I made sure to set the stores s7 to the same brightness as mine and making sure the phone was on adaptive mode and the stores s7 just looked so much better than mine, their was a blue hue but it made the whites brighter and more even
Has anyone had screen issues like this with their s7? Should I get a replacement? Even my old phone which isn't amoled has much brighter whites than the S7
can't explain any kind of gradient from one side to the other, but there is a setting on the S7 "Screen Mode" under the Display and Wallpaper menu gives you 4 different settings some of which will give a more yellowish hue as opposed to the blueish hue normally seen in modern displays.
On my S7, I sometimes notice the white background in Chrome browser to appear a bit yellowish. I didn't notice it any other app or maybe no other app had a significant white background. If I tilt the phone just a bit to thereby change the lighting, the yellow hue goes away and it appears white like it should. If I don't tilt and keep scrolling, the yellowish hue also turns white.
Sometimes, I've noticed it while using FlipBoard as well.
Since changing the angle fixes it, I presume it is software-related and have not considered replacement. To me, it didn't sound like a hardware fault.
If it appears in other apps or fixes altogether somehow, will post again.

Under Screen Mode, I have 'Adaptive display' selected. I see a note at the top stating 'This mode may not be compatible with third-party apps'.
Since it only occurs in Chrome and sometimes Flipboard, perhaps some third-party apps just don't play well with Adaptive display.
Switching to AMODEL photo changed the screen to the similar yellowish hue...! Anyway, I'm keeping mine at Adaptive display.
Hope the OP's issue is also limited to certain apps.
Hii.. go to settings then display and turn of blue light filter...
Have fun with ur fone.

Do you have screen protector on? I found mine was not "very white" or yellow ish compared to other, because of my screen protector.

Display isn't bright?

Have had the Note 20 Ultra from T-Mobile since Wednesday and then phones been be great except for two flaws. One is native gestures still not working 100% smooth with third party launchers - which is okay, I am using FNG anyway, but another is the screen brightness.
Despite being in direct sunlight, the panel doesn't get bright. Samsung claims 1500 nits of brightness, it definitely doesn't get there through either manually sliding the brightness or setting it to auto brightness. Definitely isn't as bright as my OnePlus 8 Pro.
I've annoyingly factory reset the phone to no avail. Anyone else having issues?
Yes, it's not great .... my Note 8 is brighter in normal use.
The panel does get brighter in strong daylight but the maximum manual brightness is poor.

It is some kind of protection bec extra brightness for long time damage Amoled displays so they decided to limit it in normal usage
It's bright but the white point is um, weird.
Reminds me of the Surface Pro IPS panels, always, always, too green!
And the ability to adjust RGB levels has nary an effect!
I want the ability to calibrate the display properly FFS!
I know it's a decent display but gimping the calibration ability makes about as much sense as putting bias ply tires on a Ferrari!

If you read what samsung say about its Dynamic Amoled panels you will understand why the white looks weird , they have implemented a Hardware blue light filter which filters the harmful blue light emissions that is why all new samsung displays show white a llitle yellowish , It might not be the best looking but is is safe for your eyes and renders a more accurate colors.

What's the point of having that?
It's clearly inferior to my professional displays.
Proper calibration and white point is *everything*.
It does NOT look yellowish, it has too much green.
That looks horrible.
After using it for a day I cannot believe how much better my Mac, 11 Pro Max and S20 Ultra looks.

Yeah, that is what someone pointed out. Thanks
Compared to the Note 10+ it's significantly brighter even in 120Hz, and I often need to lower it even with the adaptive brightness on.
It's somewhere around 1/5 or 1/6th of the brightness bar.

Question black is not black actually

Im facing some display issues in my poco x4 pro 5g Indian variant
in dark mod or when opening a plane black photo in gallery the display not becoming fully black I can see some dark white areas in display but in certain brightness level only (20-50%) and little bit screen flickering.
No issue with always on display black areas are completely black
Is that a ui bug or hardware issue?
anyone facing the same?
Yeah I also got this issue. I don't have a link but you can look for "Oreo Colorizer" I don't specifically know how this works but I think it's a software issue.

This has a couple of solutions, sometimes it works, both options work for me tho. but i rarely or never use darkmode cause the blacks are 100% black and looks ugly in my opinion, i rather have a dark gray dark mode, but still i wouldn't use it that much
the screen is the best screen you'll get for mid range phones the screen pretty much is a flagship level screen. So i don't care much of the spots cause colors, contrast, the deep blacks it gives are perfect.
POCO X4 Pro 5G AMOLED screen shows some bright spots on dark/black images.
Hello everyone! I just got my POCO X4 Pro 5G phone yesterday. I absolutely love using it to bits. However, I noticed that while browsing through content on medium (40 - 50%) brightness, the phone does not actually go fully dark. Some parts are...

Question [CLOSED] Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus AMOLED Display Problem

Hello,
I've been using Redmi Note 11 Pro plus for the past few days. I had been using a Samsung m30s before and compared to that the display experience in Redmi Note 11 Pro has been dull.
Last day I noticed something. I had tried using a completely black wallpaper and then I noticed how the black was not proper. Colour was leaching out through sides of display like a backlight bleed.
I had seen previous reports of a possible Redmi Note 11 Pro Display problem which made me do a display test on the phone. Then I noticed that this bleed like effect was present also for white as well as dark grey colors.
However these went away after I restarted my phone. So I wanted to know whether anyone else experienced this Redmi Note 11 Pro problem.
<Moderator Edit>: Self-promoting video link deleted.
This is a software issue that only occurs on MIUI. On custom roms this problem doesn't show up and the screen is completely black.
Probably a software issue, mine is noticeable when swiping the brightness while on the black screen test raging from 8 - 15% of brightness where I can see the bleeding
Hello I was planning on getting this phone (Redmi note 11 pro 5g) but after researching a bit I came across this thread. I heard this is an issue that affects both models. Is this an issue that affects only certain units or do most have amoled problems? Does this only show in 120hz mode? Thanks!

My device has no such problem. I generated a #00000000 image using an app and tried viewing it at max brightness in a dark room and the screen legit turns off. Its kinda freaky to see a display turn off when you know its on and expect some bleed. I come from lcd so thats what I expected. Needless to say I'm glad my model wasn't defective.

I have compared the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5g (peux) with last years top model Redmi Note 10 Pro Max and this display seems to be more colorful and vibrant compared to last years model. That one seemed more washed out in the same display modes.

The issue is not present at 100% brightness. Try keeping the image, and play around with the brightness settings from 0 to 100. Then, you can notice that at certain percentages, the backlight bleeds quite heavily. In my device, it's at around 30-50. Some other users report that it's happening to them at 40-60.

hi does this affect daily usage? I tend to use my phone a lot at night in bed so it would suck if the bleeding is that bad. How noticeable is it when watching content with dark scenes/backgrounds?

On my day to day usage, I find that it's not noticeable at all. However, If you're watching content that has pure black elements, it is very noticeable. It's inconvenient, but usually when it happens I just turn down the brightness a little bit and it's gone.
I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker, I still think the phone is a pretty good value, but buyers beware. There's some hope that it'll be fixed in an update at some point but I wouldn't hold my breath. Just be aware that your mileage may vary.
Is this an issue that is present on 60 or 120hz? Saw a couple of posts on other threads that say issue disappears on 60hz. Is it the same on yours?

The problem still persists regardless of whether or not I set 60 or 120hz. On my device, at least.
Guys, try this app called Oreo colorizer. This solves the issue.
It forces the display to shift its color space to DCI-P3 instead of the default sRGB according to the below XDA thread.
So the issue is software related. NOT HARDWARE. Hope Xiaomi solves this by updates in future.
[APP][Official][v1.1] Oreo Colorizer
Oreo Colorizer uses an invisible system overlay operating in wide color gamut that forces the display to shift its color space to DCI-P3 instead of the default sRGB. Optimized Rendering only affects apps that use SurfaceFlinger (IE: 99% of all...
