Sorry, maybe I didn't make it clear. what I was doing is fully wipe and flash CM11 ROM for HTC one X from scratch, and afte rall my google apps abd data is download back to normal from server, and then I flash your mod WITHOUT WIPE. But I don't see any app or other mod inside the system after reboot. I check it with root explorer. So I think I do follow your step, right ? Do you ever try to clean-wipe flash from scratch and then flash your mod ?
i checked it again and it works without aby problems on a clean install

Check if you had system partition mounted when you were installing the package, if there weren't any files installed thetn this might be the problem.
@shiftyHungary did it work for you
Good Luck !!
can any one confirm that it works
Wowza...just beathed alot of extra life into my ZTE Awe. Lolipop launcher and quickboot dont work on my device, but i can live without them. Well done
Quick boot mod only works on official cm11 builds and some other builds like armv6 build but the quick but apk works on any android device
The app just force closes whenever I try to open it. We at the Awe forums on androidforums are running an unofficial build, so it makes sense to me the mod wouldnt work but the app is not as well. Again, I can do without. Everything else, minus the launcher, appears to be working.
Though I can't find any difference when running the "boost" command. What is it supposed to do exactly?
its apically for games
Well again I didn't notice much of a difference with or without running it. Real Racing 3, GTA San Andreas and Modern Combat 4/5 run significantly better than before the mod. I was able to even record some decent game plays on each with Rec Screen Recorder with only about a 10fps drop and minor lag, something I struggled to do initially. All in all, I'll confirm this works and have already spread the word to my fellow Awe users.
Many thanks for your hard work
Hi, I'm new to Android and learning how it works by customizing stock-based 5.1 ROM for Moto G 4G 1st gen (XT1039 aka Peregrine). My current aim is to strip it down to bare usable and stable minimum. So far I removed a lot of bloat and got to the point where there are only 4 Google apps left:
- GmsCore,
- GoogleServicesFramework
- SetupWizard
- SetupWizardExt
When I remove them, and add a build.prop line "ro.setupwizard.mode=DISABLED" that disables initial setup everything still seems to work fine - the only problem is UI dysfunction. The Home button is not working (there's no action assigned to it) and quick settings disappear from notifications area. During my research I found an information that these functions are disabled by default to prevent user "escaping" Setup Wizard with Home button or accessing settings before the initial setup is done. Even when disabled in build.prop Setup Wizard still gives some kind of "signal" to Gms Core during initial boot that UI can be unlocked which means the 4 listed Google apps must be included into ROM to make everything work. My question is if there's any way around it. Can you remove all GApps from the rom, install it, boot and somehow restore Home button, quick settings and other things that could be missing?
Thank you.

Thanks, I found a solution today, just couldn't update this thread as my PC broke.
In order to restore UI functions you need yo execute the following via ADB:
Code:
adb shell
su
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
insert into global (name, value) VALUES('device_provisioned', 1);
insert into secure (name, value) VALUES('user_setup_complete', 1);
.quit
reboot
Sqlite3 is a binary you may need to download and copy to /system/bin as it's not normally available in stock roms

NOTE: For those asking about an update of this rom to the latest QK1 baseband, it appears that you can now manually update this rom to QK1 in Settings without adding any stock bloat or damaging the rom. For more info, please refer to this post HERE.
UPDATE: The Xposed Framework works with this rom. You can find more info on that HERE.
Hey guys! I thought I'd make this super lite version of the new "N920TUVU4EQC6" Nougat stock firmware for all my fellow T-Mobile Note 5-ers out there. It's much smaller than the official stock firmware package, but please note that I didn't get rid of all the Samsung or Gapps stuff like many debloated roms do. I basically tried to make the rom as lite as possible without reducing any functionality of the S Pen, networking, Settings & Quick Settings options, image & video editing capabilities, S Health heartbeat sensor functionality, S Voice and TTS stuff, etc., so I left all the necessary stuff to do that. I left the Play Store installed too, so no one has to flash a Gapps package just to download apps. Any other Google apps you want you can just download from HERE or you can actually still install a Gapps package if you really want too. I've tested the ones from OpenGapps btw and they work fine with this rom.(Just make sure you're selecting "ARM64", "7.0" & whatever Gapps package you want.) Keep in mind too that anything Google you add increases your online footprint, releases a lot more data over the web and decreases your own level of security.
The main thing I focused on for this rom though was the personal security of the user.
Security Features:
- VPN/TOR support For Online Anonymity.(via Orbot)
To get started using this feature right away and secure yourself just:
1) Make sure you've updated to the newest version of "Orbot" from the Play Store.(Contains some fixes for some crashes that were happening for some.)
2) Open Orbot from the "Security" folder on the home page.
3) Hit the "Start" button.
4) Click the top left menu and switch on "Apps VPN Mode".
5) Click "Proxy All" Button at the bottom of the next page.
That's it. You're done.
NOTE: Some users have reported experiencing force closes in Orbot for some reason when trying to apply the above settings for the first time. If this happens then just open android Settings and go to Apps>Orbot and click on "Force Stop" Then click on "Storage" below and tap "Clear Data". Should fix the issue. The latest version in the Play Store says that it fixes some crashes, so make sure Orbot is fully up to date.
- More Secure Web Browsing & Web Search Options.(via Orfox & DuckDuckGo)
Orfox browser comes with Tor already built in and is best for remaining anonymous online. DuckDuckGo is good for private searches and doing things that Orfox may block for security purposes. You can enable Tor in the DuckDuckGo browser settings if you want too, though all your apps should already be running on a private connection(VPN) as it is if you followed the Orbot steps above.
- Private Calls & SMS/MMS Text Messaging.(via Signal)
INSTRUCTIONS(To See Your Text Messages):
1) Open the Signal app at the bottom of the home page.
2) Enter your phone #.
3) Click the "Register" button.
Your texts will then appear and will be private/encrypted from now on. You can make private calls through the app too.
NOTE: If you must have the stock messaging app, then please refer to this post HERE.
- A Secure Password Manager For Creating & Storing Encrypted Passwords For All Your Accounts.(via Keepass2Android)
- 2-Factor Authentication Support For Your Accounts Providing The Ability To Generate 2 Step Verification Codes For Secure Log Ins.(via Authy)
You will have to sign up for 2 Step Verification with your account provider(Facebook, Google or wherever) first before you can use this service. Then you will have to authenticate it with the app. Afterwards when you try and log into your account it will ask you for a 6 digit token # to access your account which this app provides. Makes it so no one else can access your account even if they had your password because they would need to have your device as well to access it.
- Functionality To Block The Camera From Being Opened Secretly For Anti-Spyware Protection.(via Camera Blocker)
Camera Blocker Instructions
- Real-Time Connection Monitor For Tracking Exactly Where Your Apps Are Connecting To Visually On A Map.(via SpyMonitor)
I just added this one as a fun little extra security feature. It is good to check from time to time where all your data is going though.
- Best of all though, if you don't really want any of that stuff and just want to further debloat, I added an option for people to delete whatever system or user apps they want.(via System App Safe Remover)
NOTE: These are all important features for protecting your identity online, for more information on all the features listed above, please just look the corresponding apps up in the Play Store. If anyone wants more information about deleting apps or restoring some of the stock apps to the rom for whatever reason, then they should read this comment HERE.
Other Features:
Aroma Installer
Roots With No-Verity-Opt-Encrypt & SuperSU on install.
Init.d Support
Deodexed
Deknoxed
Debloated
Custom QC6 Lite Boot & Shutdown Animations
Custom Anonymous/Guy Fawkes Theme
Latest Version of the S8 TouchWiz Launcher
Latest Version of Bixby
Known Issues(and their fixes):
Bixby- Needs to update ICS(Interactive and Customized Services), but won't when you try to update. This is an issue on Samsung's end that came about recently. To get it to work you just have to install Personalization Service Client from HERE. You can always just touch and hold on the homescreen and toggle the switch to turn off Bixby if you don't want it too.
Orbot- If you experience any force closes, then make sure you've fully updated it in the Play Store. Latest version contains some important crash fixes.
Gear VR Function- I removed this stuff originally just to further debloat some of the extra Samsung stuff, but if anyone has Gear or a Gear VR device and wants those files back, then just flash the restore file from the Downloads page in TWRP. Thanks!.
Voice Typing- To enable the microphone in Samsung Keyboard, then just check out this post HERE
Netflix- This app is not included with the rom, but just as an honorable mention, Netflix doesn't work right out of the box. This is not a rom issue. This is a Netflix issue. You may not even find Netflix in the Play Store because it is not technically supported for the Note 5 on the new Nougat SDK yet. To fix this though, then just first download the newest Netflix app(version 4.16.1 build 15145 or newer) from HERE and then use ES File Explorer to find and delete the file "liboemcrypto.so" from "/system/lib/" so you don't experience any service interruption.

Well, I don't know about about Audio Mod, though it looks like you can just flash the file from here if this is the one you meant:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-note5/themes-apps/mod-tmon5surroud-sound-t3187359
Hadn't thought about tethering hotspot either, though, depending on what you want to do, I did leave the mobile Hotspot app in the rom for doing hotspot over wifi. There is always the Android Beam function if you just want to transfer files or share links, contacts, etc. from one device to another. It's not the same as tethering though I know. Maybe I'll look into incorporating that if I can at some point later on down the road if/when I get some more extra time.
thanks for the link.
I meant unlimited tethering hotspot. Tmobile limit 5 GB at 4GLTE, after that still can tether ...but at 2G speed which is useless nowadays.

As it says in the OP, you may have to wait awhile for the 1st boot to complete. Possibly even 5-10 minutes. Also, it may reboot up to 3 times or so on 1st boot while it roots. Believe me, it works really good. Using it right now in fact. Just have to be patient the 1st boot up.
1) Wipe.
2) Reflash.
3) Wait!

Yes. Multi-language is actually quite built in now. Just go to "Settings>General Management>Language and Input, Language", then click on "Add Language" and add whatever language you desire.
Note: Click top right menu and click on "All Languages" to see more languages if yours doesn't appear.

Same happens with me as well, But I assure you the settings are still working if you changed anything. The only thing would be clearing the data and doing everything over again if you want to change your settings. I don't know why it does this but it's the only way that's been working for me so far.
As for the bixby ICS, just install the Personalization Service Client from APKMIRROR LINK and it will update it.
The only thing I'm having problem with is the bixby vision not being recognized on photos. I don't know if it have to do with installing the updated bixby files from apkmirror before updating the app, as I should of just left it as default since bogarty said it was on latest. So i'm unsure of that as scrolling to left works though, just not bixby voice and vision. Gonna Dirty Flash ROM and see if it fixes the problem.
Other than that, the ROM is pretty nice, enjoy the security done with this ROM.

Thanks Tray! You're right. Personalization Service does fix Bixby. I'll add the link to the OP. I haven't tried installing Bixby Vision yet, it's possible it may only work with the newest camera 7.0.x. I tried adding that camera to the rom actually, but it wasn't compatible.

You might also check and see if you need to update the app in the Play Store too. The latest update lists:
* Fixes for app selection screen layout and crash bugs.
* Fixes for native code crashes for some devices.
EDIT: By the way, if you guys ever want to change your Tor identity on the fly too, then you can just open the app and swipe the green onion picture in any direction.
Thanks for this dev. Has anyone gotten a hang on Install upon completion? After "Installation completed successfully", when I clicked NEXT, I got a full freeze. Waited 15 mins, nothing...
*Edited for keyboard battery dying, LOL.
I was able to hard reset and get back into TWRP. Tried installing again, this time I did it w/safe wipe and it seems to be working. Will keep you posted on results after light use. Thanks again.

Just went through and further explained all the security features in the OP. Added some images too as a guide. Hope this helps those who want to fully take advantage of those features.
Making flashable zip files for Android devices can be… frustrating.
For those who have never tried, here are some of the more irritations:
You use a very limited scripting language called edify to write your install scripts. So limited, that some people replace the binary (update-binary) used to parse the script (updater-script) with a normal shell script that performs the installation instead. What’s the point of having update-binary and updater-script, then?
Any app installed to /system/ with bundled libraries in the apk need to have those libraries extracted in order to not crash.
Various system files need to be created to grant certain permissions to apps by default, and you need to know the syntax of each one (usually some dialect of XML).
If the correct permissions are not set on an installed file, it can cause the system to bootloop.
The Solution:
I’ve created a program in Go that reads entries from a configuration file and builds a flashable zip for you, while taking care of the implementation for you. The name is simple: Zip Builder.
Features:
Configuration files can be written in JSON, YAML, or TOML.
Supports Android versions since 5.0 Lollipop
Automatic generation of updater-script and an addon.d persistence script.
Automatically extracts libraries from apps being installed under /system/.
Can specify different file or app sources for different versions of Android and/or CPU architectures. updater-script will only install the files for that particular system.
Validate downloaded files with md5, sha1, and/or sha256.
F-Droid interoperability: Specify the repo URL and app’s package name, and zip-builder automatically gets the rest of the app’s information from F-Droid’s repository, including a download link for the latest version of the app.
Remove any files you specify, e.g. apps that you are replacing with your own version or apps/files you just don’t want on your system.
Standalone binaries available for Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows. Android binaries (to use in a terminal app) coming soon.
Linux binaries may be usable with Termux on Android, though this is not tested or supported.

I'm currently working on polishing up a new release of a different project of mine, then I'll have time to look it over.
Per your PM, though, you said busybox wasn't in the location that the zip assumed it was. Can you search through your system and tell me which directories contain either busybox or toybox? (I believe busybox was found in two different folders when I flashed Lineage before)

Just have to search with the right tool. In twrp I see busybox in the expected location.

I had a little bit of time to flash a beta Oreo ROM for my phone and had no issues with things getting copied to my system correctly. If busybox is in the location that the script expects it to be, it's not obvious what the problem is.
The log you gave me seems to show that it mounted your system and data partitions correctly, detected that a folder did not exist, and then exited normally.
Have you tried an updated zip recently? A little while back I had the script output the found values for Android version and CPU architecture. It's possible it got fixed along with whatever I was working on at the time.
Re-downloaded microg.zip from @Shadow53's page. Now it works as expected.
Pushed a commit that should hopefully fix the issue @marcdw reported in the MicroG thread at https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...y-services-t3217616/post74531435#post74531435
@marcdw, I rebuilt the zips with a build containing the fix. Can you confirm that the libraries are now loading correctly? Things are working on my end, except for the patched Play Store requiring a reboot before working.
@rottenwheel do you really mean xposed? I have the impression magisk gets more attention.
@Shadow53,
I had actually edited the updater and add-on.d scripts to use the short names on most of your zips and all was good.
After work I'll start anew using your rebuilds. ?

As read on the microG thread:
Although XDA community and most Android modders tend to side with Xposed-based solutions, I need to emphasize this is not the absolute case. I rather to stay away from it as much as I can, because it's given unstability to my devices as soon as I start tinkering with some modules; as soon as I get it removed from my setup, bugs are gone. I don't want to engage in unrelated discussions here, I just wanted to let you know your zip solutions have been working like a charm and many of us will miss if you lose enthusiasm about it. Keep it up and rocking. Thanks to you, getting microG onto our handsets is easier.

NanoMod is optionally a Magisk module and has nothing to do with Xposed, though I appreciate the sentiment.
*If* I were to lose interest in this project or in providing scripts, the code for the zip-builder is open source and contains the build recipes I use for all of the zips I provide, so it shouldn't be too hard for someone to pick up if they wanted to.
That said, I have no intention of stopping providing zips any time soon, though development on the zip-builder itself is slow because university is keeping me busy. I use my zips too, so I gotta be at least a little invested

Howdy sir. My apologies for not getting back. Work got in the way.
The zips work perfectly. I setup two ROMs on my Axon 7 with microg-playstore, no-gapps, and hacker. Not a single hiccup with the included apps or Play Store. All is good.
Must say again, I like the apps included in no-gapps.zip. Most of those I use and have to get manually from F-Droid.
Perfect with Dark ROM which has no apps or launcher and thus no worries of duplicate functionality (like two cameras, two calendars, etc.).
I see Firefox has replaced Lightning. Haven't used Firefox since v28 so I get to see what the new one is all about.

Awesome. Been looking into how to get F Droid and Micro G plus most other things to work for my sm-g900p!
Really not liking the way Google has been going.
So looking into HOW to get that this to work for me.
From what I had seen so far....
PLEASE keep working on this!!
Thank you Shadow 53!

I'm glad to hear that it's working for you. I'll be posting a new release on GitLab around the end of the week (yay finals...)
Regarding the no-gapps zip, most included apps also remove the AOSP equivalent if present, with a couple exceptions such as Silence for SMS not removing the default SMS app and Firefox not removing the built-in browser, both to avoid potential issues.

Development of the zip builder is stalled right now, largely due to time. It works great for what I need at the moment, but I will work on bug fixes for things that come up. The zips are rebuilt every week by a cron job on the server, though packages containing the official Play Store may not get updated if opengapps updates their version (which changes the URL). I try to catch that, but I don't always have time to check.
I'm considering putting together a comprehensive gapps removal zip that should remove as much trace of Google as possible from the device, including any application data. That will take some investigation, though, and so it shouldn't be expected soon. If/when it comes, it'll largely be for removing installations by opengapps and Beans gapps, as I can't account for all differences between OEMs.
Hey no worries about updates being "stalled"!
I know what your going though believe me. Can be such a frickin headache!!! Not to mention anxiety that some poeple get this time of the year!
AM certainly glad to hear that you are still somewhat working on it though. Plus frim what I can see, this has not been out long, so I don't thing others may even know about it!
I believe they will!!!
Running paid apps having a license verification at runtime
I installed a recent LineageOS for microG (build date 11/29) on my Samsung Tablet SM-T800 (chagallwifi) and added root by flashing the zip provided by LineageOS.
I first tried Yalp Store (version 0.29, downloaded from fdroid), but then figured out that I cannot use any paid apps that make use of a license validation at runtime. However, there are some paid apps that I require.
I did some reading and it seems like the installation of the original Google PlayStore is a solution.
So here are my questions:
1) Can I get paid apps running when I install the original PlayStore as a system app following the procedure described on the blog shadow53 (sorry, cannot post the link cause I am a new user, but it is easy to find when searching for 'shadow53 android downloads')?
2) Is there anything I have to do in addition to flashing the PlayStore zip?
3) Does flashing the original PlayStore give rise to any conflict with the FakeStore that comes installed as part of microG? If so, how do I remove the FakeStore?

1. Yes, you will be able to check licenses at runtime with the Play Store installed.
3. Yes, they use the same package name, so having both apps installed causes a conflict. Depending on where the FakeStore is installed, the Play Store zip may recognize where it is and automatically remove it for you. You will see some output while flashing, something like "Deleting existing file /system/priv-app/Phoneksy" if it was discovered (file path may be different).
If it does not automatically remove FakeStore, find the directory it is installed in and delete it, then on next boot modify the playstore addon-d script to delete that directory. You should see where and what to change when you open the file. If you do not make this change,
2. You may have to manually remove FakeStore with the above process. You should also look at https://shadow53.com/android/no-gapps/faq/playstore-not-loading/ regarding other gotchas with getting the Play Store running and https://shadow53.com/android/no-gapps/faq/playstore-incorrect-signature/ if you use the patched version of the Play Store.
The addon.d survival script dosn't work on my rom (play store patched). I use lineageos with microg on nexus 7 (flo).

Whether addon.d stuff works depends on the ROM. Some ROMs have a backup feature during flashing but a lot do not. Does LOS support addon.d backups?

LineageOS has addon.d sopport. Maybe you should post a recovery. Log

After installing the microG Lineage fork on my own device to test, I realized that the Play Store zip marks FakeStore as something to remove on initial installation, but not across system updates. The addon.d script doesn't re-remove FakeStore.
Try downloading the latest version of the zip and installing it. FakeStore should stay uninstalled now.
In other news, I've decided to make my no-gapps zip into multiple, similar to the various OpenGapps zips. This means a larger selection of open source apps that can be installed, including some more replacements for AOSP apps. I'm working through a couple bugs right now potentially related to these zips, then I'll add an update with more details.
Hello Mates,
after many hours and sleepless nights i got Omnirom+MicroG worked. I am very glad about it.
Omnirom is a very good rom but i miss few things:
1-) Clock widget as OxygenOs Clockwidget! Any advices?
2-) OxygenOs Cam
3-) OxygenOs Gestures
4-)Oneplus Launcher
5-) Parallel App
in official omnirom thread there have been a oxygenOs. cam.zip and i did flash via twrp but after i got dumprep ......crash and i flash all the rom and apps from beginning. Hope you guys can make me advices without risk
thank you in advance
Regards
Coktail
Ciao
# OxygenOs Clock Widget "net.oneplus.widget" (and wheather "net.oneplus.weather") you can find It on apk repository like apk mirror (or others)
# I don't know if OOS Cam runs on omni, but, you can find someone running OOS that shares the apk in order to give It a try
# Gesture should be integrated in the rom - it's not an Add-ons, (however, there Is also "xda navigation gesture" apk if you want to check an alternative)
# Launcher... Tipically It does not run on custom roms, maybe you can try a patches version (there are magisk modules, but i have never tried)
if you like "left panel option" maybe you can try if "Microsoft Launcher" fits your needs
otherwise "lawnchair" Is the most used nowadays
# parallel apps, there are apk in the PlayStore for that, like "multi space" or "Island" i used It, but since i Need It Just fornwhatsapp i opted for "FM Whatsapp" nowadays
since you are trying microG, I am trying to build a magisk module for It... If you want to give It a try, i'll be happy to have feedback on it
Thank you
