Google Dialer Vs OnePlus Dialer - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hey guys, just a quick question. Those of you rooted (or non-rooted, doesn't really matter) what's your opinion on Google Dialer? Is it worth installing the framework and using it? What advantages and disadvantages does it have? I've tried searching the web but can't really get a decent answer, just a load of "I use it" and "I don't use it" without reasons. Thanks in advance.

There are some tiny differences that I can't even think of but nothing game changing. They both make phone calls and thats good enough for me lol.

Couple of advantages with Google Dialer are
1. Frequent updates through play store
2. Identifying unknown callers
I am not crazy about those two features, so I am content with stock dialer

Google Dialer is better - identify unkonwn callers and search for numbers in Google's online database, although it does not support call recording.

I'm looking for call recording, I already have call screening. thanks though.

The stock dialer works with my Visual Voicemail on T-Mobile and has built in call recording so I use that although Google Dialer gets more updates.

Basic Visual Voicemail

So my wife has a Droid Turbo and I contacted VZW about an issue with her voicemail. In the discussion, the rep told me that there is a "Basic" tier of visual voicemail now that is free. He said it should be available on my phone, too.
However, all I've ever seen for the M8 is the $2.99 a month option, which is all I see in the Voice Mail app as well.
Is there any truth to what the rep told me, or was he smoking something?
Not as answer, but I think Google Voice is much more powerful
Edit: This chart says yes but doesn't say how to activate it.

Last time i tried to use Google Voice it stated that it didn't work with my service.
I would love to know how everyone is using Google voice mail services with VZW when i clearly get denied.
Maybe someone could clarify that?

Any luck figuring out basic visual voicemail on M8?
Hi There,
DId you ever find an answer to this question? I'm new to Android and just got an M8. I've been trying to figure out how to get a visual voicemail service set up ( I don't need transcription or lots of features- just the ability to see a list of messages and save some/delete some/play some). I also just read about the Verizon Basic Visual Voicemail and it seems perfect for me, but cannot see how to activate on the M8. When I click on the voicemail app, all I see is the 2.99 option ( and free trial). Were you able to figure if you can activate the basic VM on the M8, and, if so, can you please share how?
Thanks so much!

Thank you for your answer. Did you happen to find out if this is a result of the plan, or the phone? I've seen other people say it's possible, but with no explanation how. I still haven't set up voicemail. I see an option of for 2.99 VVM, a free trial for the 2.99 VVM, remind me later, or decline free trial. Did you run into these options as well? What explanation were you given by Verizon ( and how recently)? Thank you so much for responding.

Voice Answer Unavailable

The voice answer capabilities are not available on the Pixel 2. I need to be able to say "Answer" or "Reject" to accept an incoming phone call. There is no built-in option and I cannot use apps such as Tasker because the voice option is grayed out. Can anyone please tell me how to get this feature to work specifically on the Google Pixel 2 XL.

I don't think that feature is available with the Google dialer. The only other phone I had that did that was Samsung with Touchwiz........

Thank you for the reply tkacer. Yes, I was coming from Samsung to Google so I had the feature. I am not a developer so I apologies if this is a naive question, but can an app be built that would allow the ability to answer with voice on the Pixel 2 XL? I ask because the only app I know (and trust) that possibly could is Tasker and I cannot get it to work. The option is grayed out when trying to add it to an application.

I feel your pain - really one of the few features I miss from touchwiz.........that and alarms the can be set using maps! I don't believe it will ever be a option on other platforms, or it would have been done already......haven't really heard or seen that feature anywhere else.

Call Recording Feature APK ?

My Settings does not have the option for call recording but i notice others in different regions do.
Its legal in my state to record without consent any conversation i am a part of. Devices and Surveillance Act 1999 Victoria. Same applies for Northern Territory and Queensland.
I wonder if its possible that someone with the S10plus or a Samsung model who has this feature to extract and make a apk to enable it.
When i had the Huawei Mate 20 Pro the feature was not available but a few months after release someone managed to extract and make a apk from another Huawei phone or firmware. This worked perfectly and there was no background sound distortion like there is with 3rd party apps.

I believe on Android 10 only root can help you now. Google removed any possibilities already.
Try skvalex call recorder. But even this one will make a lausy recording if any without root.
If you root, but I guess you are with snapdragon, it will be easy. You can simply edit your cscfeature.xml and activate this functionality as a stock feature. Or when rooted, use the call recorder mentioned above.

Which possibility did Google remove, recording calls? This is incorrect. As the OP said - and I know for a fact from personal experience - stock ROMs in other countries (for example - Israel), on all recent Samsung models, have built-in Call Recording.

I think that by following the line of "conversation" here it is more or less clear that what I said is meant for the countries that are not supported by Google for call recording.

Yes correct, Australia does not have stock call recording, because some states have different laws.
Queensland, Northern Territory and Victoria are exempt from these laws, under the surveillance devices act 1999 its legal to secretly record without consent any conversation that you are a part of.

I upgraded to the S20Ultra and Cube ACR still working so far. Seems clearer than the S10+ managed to get.
ACR (another call recorder by NLL Apps) is working ok on my s10+. You should give it a try. Of course is recording background and caller voice is lower but does it's job.

Hi ,
You need to root your phone
or maybe download call recorder from play store
True Phone dialer app works recording both sides except if your calling with wifi calling then it won't record the other side of the call only your side.
ACR you need to install from the galaxy store not from google apps https://galaxystore.samsung.com/det..._id=W_15fd7e58a4696d0121c0cc4ad18f1349&sign=1 works fine on S10+

Can someone please port Oxygen OS's stock Phone and messaging app for Nord?

I mean google's phone and messaging apps are not bad but OOS's app are better in my opinion. The call recording feature without telling the other person is really important for me as I have many conference calls and have to take notes from it. Also the messaging app is no much optimised for Indian region that it shows tickets and OTPs in a better format.
Please port the stock app from Oneplus 8!

But i need to let you know it's not functioning with bt headsets, so the recording is only active while using the phone. when calling handsfree your voice is not recorded.
i have been looking for a way if it could be possible to activate it without root, even with root its not clear to me if it will record the calls when using bt headset.
Thank you!

You can enable default call recorder - possibly in all countries. Check the screenshots.
This is an app for oneplus phones but not too sure if it will work with nord. But please try once.

I don't think it will coz we don't have Oxygen OS default dialer app in Nord. We have google dialer only.

I have installed joneplus tools, and run the needed adb commands. It's not functioning with the build in Google dialer app because that doesn't support call recording. After that I have tride to download the stock Oxygen dialer from apk mania, the app will not run on the Nord. I don't have any other ideas.
I have been looking all over for another solution. I found one call recorder app that somewhat runs. The voice quality is verry low, some parts off it are of verry low quality. And if you are using a Bluetooth headset it only records your own voice.

Does any android phone come with call recording facility and without google dialer as on date in India?

Hmmm. Samsungs and many others have built in call recorder. As your device is running Android One, you might be out of luck.
