Adaptive Brightness - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Why mess with a good thing! On my pixel 2&3 it worked great. It's supposed to learn our preferences right? This thing just has a mind of its own sometimes. Anyone else feel the same?
Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

Yes. I set it then it goes back on open beta 1 ?. I just keep it custom untill I'm putside

Auto screen brightness

Is anyone else having issues with the auto screen brightness? I'm in bed now with all the lights off and my screen is at it's brightest. As far as I can remember, the screen has never gone dim for me. I have always had to do it manually.

Same problem here.

Mine seems to work. I always thought it worked based on where the bar is set prior to the checkmark.

I use Quick Settings to adjust the brightness. The auto on this phone definitely isn't working correctly.
Mine works just fine. Dim when it's bright around me, bright when it's dark around me.

I feel like mine does change some, but it never seems like it's a really accurate change to the condition... or maybe I just think it does, hmm.

That's backwards. You want the brightness down when it's dark, because less light is needed to see the screen, and up when it's light, because more brightness is needed to see the screen.
I as well have had issues with the auto brightness. It never seems to change. I manually set it, or leverage a widget.
Mine works but it adjusts too frequently. It was annoying to see it going brighter and dimmer every minute or two so I tuned it off and use a widget.
Thanks, Robrecht

Glad to see I'm not crazy and imagining things. Very surprised at how many little quirks HTC let slip by on the thunderbolt.

I have always disliked auto-brightness. At night when I'm reading a book in bed, it is just way too bright at the lowest auto-bright setting. Though it was nice to automatically brighten up when I'm outside. Now days, I just stick an Android power control on the home screen and manage it myself. 0% for when I'm in bed reading books, 30% for normal every day use, 100% for when I'm outside. It seems to help the battery quite a bit too.
Its best to adjust it manually anyways... Just add a widget on your home screen lolz
What's best is not always whats preferred. It's little things like auto not working that make me miss my cyanogen'd droid 1

What do you have against that tip that I told you?
Turn off auto brigtness and then act like you are pulling the menu. Wait until the bottom part show and then slide your finger left to right along the notification bar. Voila. Watch the brightness change

Oh comon.. but isn't that cool! When I was first trying to hack my phone I landed on some variation of samsunginfuse.com and that was one of the tips that I picked up there. Really glad that I did. Our phone seems to be one of the only ones that it actually worked on. But I know what you're saying. You want it the way it should be. I got it. I personally just hate auto brightness. And it pisses me off the way that browser completely has it's own settings. Yes, I know that you can download a separate broswer just pisses me off.. ranting woops.. I do that a lot when I can type quickly on the computer.
If you want it auto, flash something else...

Ya I don't think auto works as well for this cm.

I like cm7 too,by the way,do you have a status bar icon shake problem?Just the battery and time.
I always have brightness on full with auto off. However, if the display is on for an extended time the display will dim. Then going to the brightness settings I see the message that dismay was dimmed to prevent battery over heating.

I used to have this problem a lot of stock froyo.. when I was running a lot of flash.. You have this on gb with nothing special running?? w0w...

This happens on my infuse with Zeus 5.2 using Tapatalk, browsing the web, checking facebook occasionally. Happens on my daughters infuse running stock Froyo. Never have timed how long before the dimming... maybe 45 min. or more.

Wow. That sucks bro. Doesn't happen here.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk
It doesn't dim much, about like it would if I had auto brightness enabled. Overclocked to 1.6 probably doesn't help. My battery temp is only at 98.6 after a good 30 min on Tapatalk. Never really timed how long before it dims.
On another note, I can't believe the difference in speed from Froyo to this Rom. Using Zeus 5.2 with ICS theme. Used UOT kitchen to change my battery indicator.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk
One last comment, then to bed. My display hasn't dimmed yet after being on all this time and temp still at 98.6. Maybe I was running more than I realized the few times it happened. Anyway, thanks for the conversation.

Light flow HELP ME

Why am I having so much trouble getting light flow to work? I just had it working fine on my galaxy Nexus so I definitely know how to set it up but no matter what I do it won't work.
Are there any special settings I need to turn on or off?

Make sure Light flow is checked in accessibility settings. So currently, having an "always on" notification for any one setting will mess with the other settings. Dev is working on a fix. other than that it should be working.
What exactly is happening on your end, you didn't give a lot of detail?

No prob. I emailed the dev, he says he is working on a fox, so it shouldn't be too long now.

Yeah for sure. The main reason I thought I was doing something wrong was because Droid life posted an article that gave me the impression the "always on" was working.

You should be starting to get the update now. I've done a workaround for always on as the LG drivers just don't accept it. I'd class the "always on " option for the Nexus 5 as being "almost always on"
Updated the app now, will see how it goes
I still seem to be getting notification light illuminated after the notification has been read.
Addmitedly I don't have it running as a foreground service.
Anyone know of a way to get rid of the lightflow notification in the pull down shade? I like to keep that area clean for notifications. I know other apps offer an option to disable that notification.

Uncheck the option that is "Run as foreground service" or similar.

Does that disable the app or any of its features?

[Q] Notification light timeout

Not sure if I just haven't found the option yet but can we extend how long the notification light blinks after a missed call, text etc? It seems like it may only flash for 5 or 10 minutes. I know it seems like not that big of a deal but I would like to know a way to change it. I'm dispatched for work through text so not having to constantly pick up my phone to see if I have a missed call or text would be ideal. Thanks in advance!
I think this is the 1 issue with the phone that baffles me. Such a great device, but such a strange setting by HTC.

I know. Such a stupid little thing but it drives me nuts.
Well after some more homework it sounds like this has been going on for a lot of HTC phones. This is my first one.Is there an app or something that can bypass this 5 minute timeout? I'm assuming it's probably something I would have to be rooted for since apps like liteflow don't seem to work. Any help is appreciated.

Light Flow has a "HTC alternative direct mode", and it states "Phones such as the latest HTC One control the LED differently when running in Direct Mode. This option should enable flashing the LED." Granted... I am unsure if you need root for that option. Same with Direct Mode. Only option I am sure that needs Root is, well, Root mode, lol.
Sadly this is all I can think of that might help you, sorry.

Thanks man but I don't think this will bypass the 5 minute HTC timeout.
It does for me. You just have to set the light to never time out was going for about 8 10 minutes before I noticed it was blinking sounds off its about bed time

Samsung keyboard auto correct

For those that are using auto correct, is it working for you?
Mine works maybe 10 percent of the time... I have it all turned on auto cap, auto replace and etc but it doesnt want to do it...

Nope, switched to SwiftKey because I couldn't deal with it anymore.

I was just coming on here to ask the same question.
Mine is all on but it never works at all for me. It wont even punctuate or capitalise.
This is my first samsung phone so im hoping its not intended to work like this.
I also get fore close errors on the fingerprint reader, keyboard and something else. The screen and camera are nice but im on the fence about everything else.
