hey guys im need of your help my sensation was essentially fine then i decided i wanted to root and find another rom just for better performance so i found and followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 well some down the line idk what happended but now i cant transfer big files to the phone when in recovery mode and when i try to install a new rom the whole phone will reboot i've tried everything from adb push to flashing new firmware to the phone now im stuck and out of ideas can anybody help me the phone isnt bricked cause it can still boot into recovery and i can use fast boot mode as well i dont have any rom loaded on the phone and i didnt make any back ups (yea i know very dumb of me)
What do you mean transfer big files when in recovery mode? You can only transfer files when the phone is operating normally. Are you s off?
im pretty sure i am cause i used Revolutionary to root it
Since you can access recovery:
1. Download a rom suitable for the firmware you flashed.
2. Download super wipe script from ARHD thread.
3. Place both on a freshly formatted SD card using a PC
4. Insert SD to phone and install super wipe followed by rom.

Take out sd card and use a card reader to load a rom. Which firmware did you flash? Through bootloader? If you flashed the ics firmware bundle, which one?

Since problem happened after you tried to s-off and you can't flash rom by recovery, i'm pretty sure that your phone is still s-on. You can try the method as following
1. Reboot into the bootloader and check whether phone is s-on. If it's not, or rather, it's s-off, congratulation to you because it's very easy now. You just need to install a third party recovery( i never try to flash a rom by stock recovery, but i recommend to use third party recovery to flash roms) and flash any rom you want except those which need firmware. If it's still s-on, what you need to do is login htcdev and unlock the bootloader
2.Download a rom which doesn't need firmware( Because i don't know how to cope with ICS stuff and i just know something about gingerbread rom. if you want to try ICS, then ignore my reply). Download a third party recovery. Extract the boot.img inside the rom to adb folder, and so do recovery.img.
3.Connect the phone to the computer, open command line and cd into adb folder, and go to fastboot mode. Type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" to install third party recovery. Type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" to flash boot.img
4.Reboot into recovery mode. Double wipe the phone, or you can try superwipe provided by mike1986. Then install the rom you download. After installation, reboot the phone. Now your phone should be ok.
PS: adb command usually works when your phone has booted into system. Although type adb command in recovery mode and get some response from the phone, actually it doesn't make any sense.
All in all, all you need to do is :unlock the bootloader by htcdev, flash recovery and boot, wipe and flash the rom, then ok

Hi. Please please can anybody help me rescue my htc one s? I had rooted my phone and last night i tried to flash cyanogenmod 10 onto it. I tried several times but it kept getting stuck on the cyanogenmod splash screen. To cut a long story short, i have now wiped my phone of everything, rom and all. All i can do on my phone is access bootloader menu and recovery. I can not even mount my sd card. I have read that i need to flash the stock recovery to remount my sd card but i can not find a stock recovery file anywhere on the net. Can somebody point me in the right direction? also, can somebody please explain (in very simple terms!) if i can flash a new rom on my phone from bootloader or recovery? And if so, how? As i can not 'see' my phone when i connect it to my laptop, and as i cannot access sd card, i can not copy the rom zip file to the sd card and install from there! I am well and truly stuck! Please could somebody help me save my phone??? Thanks in advance!
US or International? Need to give location info or CID to run the proper RUU.
Once you have the right RUU you have to connect phone in fastboot usb mode, relock boot loader using adb command prompt type...fastboot oem lock. Then you simply run ruu file while phone is connected in fastboot usb mode. You will be back to stock and unrooted.
Here is link to all RUUs...http://www.filefactory.com/f/cf061f69b5bf7878/

I am in the UK. Thanks for the reply. Sorry to be such a noob, but i'm not sure what to do with the adb command part? Where do i type the command and what exactly do i type? I am in fastboot usb now.
Download this zip http://www.mediafire.com/?50baad8rykng2j0 credit to torxx @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427 and download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086156
Unzip and place the folder in C drive. Example: put all files c:\fastboot "folder"
In windows7, go to start-->Run and type cmd then right click on cmd and select run as admin
now follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086156
Thanks for the reply. I have managed to relock the bootloader (says that at top of bootloader screen) and i have now tried to run 2 different RUU files but both times it has stopped half way through saying it is not the correct version. How do i know which version i should use? My phone is a uk model which was not locked to a network when i bought it. Thanks.
You can try a goldcard method, or the PM66IMG or something else, dunno the name for the One S. Just search on how to bypass the CID check, or search for goldcard tutorials.
EDIT: sorry, didn't saw you don't have access to your sdcard. Do you have any other phone with an sd card slot? Or a sd OTG stick?
EDIT: sorry maybe that doesn't work, dunno if the one s has a sd card slot or not.

Unlock your bootloader (htcdev.com) and fastboot flash twrp recovery image..(rename the image "recovery" then place it in your fastboot directory. I use /android-sdk/platform-tools).don't do anything else posted. after you get to this point then follow links that cat gave you..if you want cm10 rom. You can mount your sd in that recovery. Your phone is not bricked
To flash the recovery after you download it (assuming you are unlocked at this point) place your phone in bootloader mode then select fastboot. Now in your command window type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img then press enter.. now reboot into recovery,.
In twrp recovery select MOUNT then select MOUNT USB STORAGE. Your sdcard should now be visible on your computer

If you still can't see your sd card after flashing custom recovery the sd card may be corrupted. In that case you could try following my post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36385593
But you would need root access for your phone so it may or may not work depending on how much of your phone you have wiped. You can access adb commands as well if your in twrp recovery.

Thanks so much for the advice so far, i'm really beginning to think I might actually save my phone! I have done what you said (ie unlocked bootloader, done the steps to remount sd card, re flashed twrp recovery) and have now mounted usb storage and it is visable on my laptop (running windows 8). What should I do now? I don't mind which rom I put on at this point, just as long as my phone works again. Stock or CM10 are both fine for me.
*UPDATE*
I placed the cm10 zip into the sdcard via laptop and then went into twrp recovery and chose install and clicked on the zip. Everything seemed to work but when I rebooted my phone gets stuck on the htc splash screen??

Looks like you have to flash boot.img seperately. Extract boot.img from ROM zip and fast boot flash it with adb command prompt.

Your One S is far from bricked if you can access bootloader and recovery.
EDIT INSERT: Re-unlock.
Just ADB push your ROM to the sd. (Don't worry about the sd mounting in recovery, it's not supposed to work)
Flash your rom's boot.img in fastboot.....and......well......done?
Let us know.
Thanks everybody so much, I now have my phone back!!!!! Such a relief! I have installed CM10 and I love the look of it. Just one last problem though and that is that I have no signal/service?? I looked on the net and could it be apn settings? Anybody know what I should do? Thanks.

Send the recovery img to your xoom with fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
Then press power and vol up to reboot once at the M count 1 2 3 then press volume down. Then volume up to selext recovery. Once in twrp recovery flash your su.zip (ensure its compatabile with your current os version) and reboot. Then enjoy. When you select reboot twrp will prompt u to delete two files (if your stock) these two files will reinstall stock recovery if they r not deleted or renamed.
You can get the twrp recovery from my sig

Ive told you already you can not flash a recovery from stock recovery. You are not reading the op of my thread. Or any other threads on how to do this.
The same method of unlocking the bootloader in fastboot is how you have to flash the recovery unless u already have a custom recovery.
Download the twrp IMG from my op to your computer, save it to your folder where adb.exe and fastboot.exe are.
Boot your tablet into fast boot mode (just like you did when you unlocked the bootloader)
From the folder that adb and fastboot are open cmd prompt
Type
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
The tablet should read out that its flashing. In the cmd prompt it should read out that its flashing also.
Once done type
fastboot reboot
Then when the tablet starts to boot you will see the red M count 1 2 3 then press volume down then volume up to select recovery. You are booting into TWRP

watch this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-7wfZw0wj0&feature=youtu.be
then this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koxgbdQuzOQ
then remember to boot STRAIGHT into recovery after flashing, if you fail to do so the stock rom has two scripts in it that install stock recovery on EVERY BOOT. if you boot to android your custom recovery WILL BE over written
once you boot into TWRP and have finished your flashing and select reboot TWRP will detect the two scripts and prompt you to delete them or your custom recovery will be over written and you will have to re flash ( VIA fastboot like in the first video) again

Sounds like your sd card isn't mounted. To fix this use the all-in-one-kit and return your recovery to stock. After this go into bootloader and and select 'clear storage' followed by reseting to factory settings. This works as only the stock recovery has the ability to remount the sd card. After this go into fastboot and flash a custom recovery using the command 'fastboot flash recovery (recoveryname).img'. Now go into the recovery and mount the sd card. You can now copy over any hboot 2.16 compatible ROM and flash it.

I think the best coarse will be to flash RUU:
1. Lock your bootloader by typing in when in fastboot: fastboot oem lock
2. Select the RUU compatible with the phone here: http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Ville
3. Connect your phone to fastboot and run the RUU. This will return you to stock.
4. Boot back into bootloader. If you still have your Unlock_code.bin from when you first unlocked your bootloader simply type when in fastboot: fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
If you don't you have to go through the unlock process again at http://www.htcdev.com/
5. Also I would recommend going S-Off which is easily done with moonshine here http://moonshine.io/
RUU Doesnt work
Problem is that I always get an error 158 when I flash a RUU :/

Make sure your bootloader is locked and that you downloaded the correct RUU for the company that provided your phone.
If that doesn't work than your sd card isn't mounted so you should select "clear storage" in bootloader which will mount your sd card.

change your recovery to 4ext
http://d-h.st/rG7
extract the recovery.img and flash it via fastboot command
the command is fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
then from 4ext format all partitions except sdcard
enable smartflash from 4ext(if you are on S-ON)
flash the rom
done
note: enable smartflash exactly before flashing the rom
i'll give it a try at home. Thank you!

boot your device to the bootloader, select fastboot and connect it to the pc
extract the recovery.img from the link above and place it in the folder where you have adb/fastboot files in your pc
open a command window from that folder and type
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot bootloader
then you will have 4ext recovery installed

I've used OneX AIO tool to flash it, and now I have 4ext Recovery Touch and my Sensation is alive again! Thank you!
Hi guys I tried to flash ''cm-13.0-20151108-UNOFFICIAL-pyramid'' via ''TWRP-2.8.7.0-pyramid-r9-cm13'' but that failed, ever since I am stuck at the HTC logo, I tried to flash numerous older firmwares but try to factory reset/wipe I get an ''unable to format storage'' so any Rom I try fails. It was previously running older version of CM fully rooted which I have fully backed up via CWM but now cant restore is due to TWRP & CWM being incompatible.
I have tried so many ADB commands but ADB only responds when in TWRP any time else like in Fastboot I get absolutely no response at all, I have also tried to flash CWM back any way possible but have failed same with ''4EXT-Recovery-Touch-v1.0.0.5-RC5-PG58IMG''. Also tried RUU but kept on receiving 'Connection Error' even though the USB cable was connected & works fine, also tried using ''Sensation_All-In-One_Kit_v3.1'' no luck either with any of its commands.
I have attached the Bootloader screen if it can help with this boot loop.
I have never has such issues with Samsung Phones so I am a total noob with HTC phones so any help would be really great.
Any help would be really great from this amazing community!
TWRP has broken my partition table. I cannot format via parted due to the fact it now has 'overlapping partitions'. No recovery can fix this including 4ext. Completely stuck at the minute. I don't want to use a microsd card as storage when I have internal storage available. Is there anyone that can help or has had any success? I am S-OFF and bootloader UNLOCKED.
Tried stock RUU via P58..zip and get's stuck part way through (I think at system or SD)
Help! I'm sure there's someone that can fix the partition table. The format of the internal storage sd is fat32 - which I believe is where the problem started from. I don't want to let this problem defeat me although I have spent an age trying to sort it...too late to give up
Any help is highly appreciated.
Cheers

Yeah how did you do it? Too late for me now though as my device is S-OFF and I'm stuck in QHUSB_DLOAD bricked mode. I have tried unlimited.io's s-off etc no joy. Wonder if there is ever going to be anything that can take me out of this apart from jtag.

What I've done has been, through a PC with Windows Vista (I have been unable to get anything with Windows 8 onwards ), I installed the HTC One X All In One tool, and in the part where the recoverys are located, there are three (CWM, TWRP and other), I went to the Data / Recoveries folder and I deleted the TWRP, replacing this with an image of 4EXT Recovey Touch, and putting the same name that has the recovery erased. Then I went to the tool, I installed TWRP (which was 4EXT which replaced it) and my Sensation revived. Good luck!
For me it is not loading to 4ext, after flashing it..... stuck at htc logo. if i install twrp or cwm it boots to it... any idea how to fix it?
