Dual SIM Standby or Active? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

So everything I've read indicates that the 7 Pro is Dual SIM Standby. However a rep at OnePlus assured me that it is Dual SIM Active and couldn't figure out why I couldn't send or receive MMS messages from either SIM no matter which one was set to active. He escalated my case to the higher tech support to try to resolve. Is he indeed wrong or is the 7 Pro really Dual SIM Active? And if he is wrong and the device is Dual SIM Standby, is there a firmware or kernel mod that will enable both SIMs active?

z3 dual not dual active

Got a z3 dual. Was primarily interested with this because they said it was dual active and many users posted that when other sim is active for call the other sim is still open for data, sms and other stuff. Meaning it has 2 active lines but i am experiencing otherwise. When i received a call the other sim is inactive, there is an hoir glass symbol and when i tried texting by the other sim it just won't send because it's inactive. Who has a z3 dual here that can verify as well
Edit: here are pic of the signal bar while on call

Mate 7 Gold Version Europe

This model is dual standy or dual active?
even though dual standby can answer a call on a card and another be on the internet?
Thanks
It is dual active. You can even use SIM 1 to call SIM 2 or vice-versa and it will ring. When I'm on call on one sim, I get calls on the other sim.
Yes, it's dual active - I can confirm....great feature btw
I ask because in gsmarena specifications appear dual standby
What a mess!

How to use 2nd sim in S7 single sim model ?

So pretty straight forward
I have the s7 singlem sim version
Can i modified the sim so that it can fit and read the sim?
Sorry, you can't. Single SIM variant doesn't have the necessary hardware to operate a second SIM (even though the software side of it supports it). You's have to get a Duos version to use the second SIM, however after reading reports of high battery drain, I'd rather stick with a single SIM.
Single SIM variation doesn't have the essential equipment to work a second SIM You's need to get a Duos variant to utilize the second SIM, however in the wake of perusing reports of high battery channel, I'd rather stay with a solitary SIM.
Okay then, case closed

Dual SIM

Hi
I have been searching alot about this topic, and all that i gathered is that the oneplus 6 is dual standby phone. This means that when on a call on SIM 1, then you are unreachable on SIM 2. I'm not talking about volte, but on GSM.
Also this means when I'm on a call on any SIM, the data shuts off unless I'm in area with duplex gsm channel then data drops back to H. (As per my friend who works in the teleco company here, cuz sometimes and in some areas when I'm on a call, the data doesn't drop back to H but rather completely shuts and in some areas and some times it drops back to H)
As per my reading, this happens because the oneplus 6 utilises the x16 chip which has a single antenna.
Here is where my confusion, i tried an out going call from SIM 1, put the call on hold, dial another number on SIM 2, conference the calls, Viola, it works. This means that i can use both SIMs actively.
Please someone shed some more light on this.
Note, I'm using 2 separate SIMs but from the same operator.
Also, im on the Android p beta 1 rom but have been able to do this on the previous OTAs also.
Cheers
Op6 is dual standby not dual active that means when you call from sim 1 sim 2 is inactive and vice versa.
I don't know which phone support dual active.

Hi
Try calling from SIM 1, hold the call, dial another number from SIM 2, conference the calls, you will see that the conference works, here is where i get confused because everyone says it's dual standby, so conferencing the calls shouldn't work

I think i figured out what's going on, when placing the second call, although I'm telling the phone to dial from SIM 2 it dials from SIM 1. so both calls are originating from SIM 1.
Cheers

Def possible.
If I'm on a call on the first SIM, I can't even send a text message out on the 2nd.

Dual SIM after conversion to Global

TMobile *T 5G converted to Global and updated to the newest OTA.
I purchased a dual SIM holder on EBAY and while the phone now does detect both SIM cards, it will not allow me to use either of them. Separately they work fine, but once I put both SIM cards in the phone, both mobile data and phone service will cut off and a warning will pop up saying SIM 2 not allowed. The SIM settings screen says both SIM are active bit i no longer have data or phone service.
With both cards inserted and one of them de-activated then the other will work. I am new to dual SIM usage. Is this normal behavior? Maybe since there is only one IMEI for both slots, could this be the reason both cannot work at the same time?
Yup, I believe you are correct. There is only 1 IMEI so effectively DSDS vs DSDA. Standby vs Active.
Question for you actually, I purchased a DS from Amazon and it did not slide in all the way. Both SIMs were recognized, but I didn't want to kill the IP rating. Is your purchase the same, if not, can you send me a link to the version you received. Looking to get a silver version for my Global T-Mobile Conversion.
Thanks
