Fitbit is very excited to announce Versa 2!
Fitbit Versa 2 is the next generation of our best-selling Versa smartwatch. Versa 2 delivers a new precision-crafted swimproof design, includes innovative sleep features like Sleep Score and smart wake, and is packed with even more advanced health, fitness and smart features to elevate every moment.
For next-level convenience, Versa 2 debuts an on-device microphone, which enables Fitbit’s first-ever Amazon Alexa smartwatch experience, along with a Spotify app that allows users to control their music and podcasts, and Fitbit PayTM on all models. Coupled with even faster performance, thousands of apps and clock faces and a brighter, crisper display with an optional always-on mode, Versa 2 is your 24/7 health and wellness companion – now with 5+ days battery life at the same approachable price as Versa.
You can learn more about this new device or place a pre-order at fitbit.com/versa. Additional information is available in our press release. Copyright @Fitbit Community
The text above is from the announcing of the new Fibit Versa 2. What do I have to add to this:
1. The screen is simply amazing since it's not only Amoled but also covers the entire display space.
2. Most of the Clock Faces from the Versa are compatible with the Versa 2
3. the Versa 2 acts faster and smoother that his predecessor
4. WiFi is now included, unfortunately GPS not.
5, Battery lasts even longer than on the Versa, certainly when you take care of your battery, f.i. use a Clock Face that is very battery friendly contrary to the standard Fitbit Clock Faces.
6, etc, etc, etc, etc

REVIEW: Family IT releases World Outline, a vector graphics-based worldwide map app

Family IT, the previously unknown Pocket PC developer, has just released a full-world map / GPS application covering all countries.

Availability, compatibility
The developers don’t seem to have a homepage of their own; currently, the only source you can download their app from is Handango. I encountered no problems running it – except for it being TOTALLY incompatible (there is not even a scrollbar to scroll) with devices working in Landscape mode.
It’s priced at $14.95. The trial can only be started five times.
Review
Interestingly, while the app has checkboxes for displaying towns with even 1000 inhabitants, having such small towns / villages was definitely not the case with the maps I’ve tested. For example, it doesn’t list the Finnish Sonkajärvi (appr. 5000 inhabitants in 2005): the database only seems to starts to display towns with inhabitants starting around 20 000 as is, for example, the case with Iisalmi (22 500 inhabitants). In this case, some of the alternatives (for example, iGo) are MUCH better, as far as country-level maps are concerned.
Also, it only lists towns, nothing else – no roads, nothing. Some example screenshots (still with the Finnish town Iisalmi): with full zoom-in (screen width: 1km), all I got was this. With capital of Finland, Helsinki and its neighborhood, I didn’t have much better luck either.
Pros
It covers all countries
Cons
No Landscape support
Very slow!
eVB required (which MUST be installed into main storage on WM5)
no Hi-Res support in any way (neither in forced nor in native VGA mode) on VGA devices
Verdict
Not recommended – it’s just too slow, too expensive, too bloated, too incompatible (Landscape), too too. Use Google Maps, iGo, TomTom etc. instead – they (or a combination of them) are FAR better choices for most purposes.

Disclaimers:
Most of the cartoons linked in this app have NOT been digitally remastered. Meaning they often play at a 260p format which can display poorly on handheld devices.
The videos you will watch through this application are provided through links to YouTube content. We do not own the content shown in the videos or the screen shots displayed in the application. We are not affiliated with YouTube or its users who supply the content.
Since ToonToob plays YouTube content, it requires a network connection in order to show the videos. Wifi access is recommended but not required. Normal data charges will apply when you are using a cellular network.
Features:
Over 140 videos totaling 16+ hours of your favorite classic and vintage cartoons!
Uses the default media player!
Frequent updates! (We recommend you allow ToonToob to update automatically as we will remove broken links and add new content on a regular basis; in order to keep the application current, we display ads at the bottom of the lists of selections)
Current Cartoons:
Betty Boop
Felix the Cat
Mickey Mouse
Popeye
RoadRunner
Superman
Added Heckle & Jeckle and Tom & Jerry!
5 star review on the way absolutely chuffed to find this even the old black and white popeye's!
Thank you! And keep up the good work.
I'm going to try and update this monthly. For November, I've added more Superman and Mickey Mouse and updated a lot of them to point to higher quality feeds. Most of the 240p or 360p feeds don't look very good on phones!
December update adds Flip the Frog but had to remove Tom & Jerry because Warner Bros is squashing all the YouTube links to the classic cartoon due to copyright claims.

Kreyos: The Next Generation Smartwatch

We can ease your tech aches and pains.
The Kreyos Meteor is a hands-free, two-way communication system that you wear on your wrist. On your belt. On your bike. Or even on a lanyard around your neck.
Because it is light and portable, it’s easy to wear while on the move – whether you’re on a long bike ride or a short-trip to the grocery store.
For the first time ever, you now will have hands-free control over the powerhouse mini-computer that sits in your pocket.
UPDATE (01-JULY-2013): Kreyos Meteor has the ability to answer phone calls DIRECTLY from your wrist without reaching for your phone in the pocket.
You can answer the call with a gesture or by simply pressing the answer button on the watch. We added this update as many backers are confused whether they can answer calls from their wrist.
Gesture control, fitness apps, much more!
UPDATE (28-JUNE-2013): Gestures controls could be configured in the free Kreyos App.
Wish you could send texts without typing? Or change your music without pressing a button?
Talking to your watch makes communication easy, but we also added motion control right into the Kreyos operating system.
Using a 3-axis gyroscope, controlling your Kreyos Meteor Smartwatch is as easy as moving your hand.
In the Meteor, four different wrist motions come preconfigured – and you can pick an action to correspond to specific activities.
In the future, we’ll be adding a variety of additional motions to the Kreyos platform, enabling you to expand the motions in your repertoire.
And developers also will have the freedom to build additional gestures into applications.
Because of its hands-free functionality, the Kreyos Meteor gives you more freedom to move around your world – without losing contact with your social, business and family networks.
I would do anything to get this..
Find out more here.
I posted on another thread that I like the notion that I can have safer access to my phone while walking through the big city. I don't have to worry about my phone getting stolen out of my hand. It'll be a fun experiment to see how close you need the watch to your mouth and ears to use it for voice though.

[app][5.0] Quickbrackets Light

Hey all!
My first ever native mobile app! Competing has always been close to my heart. I competed a decent amount in martial arts and one thing I noticed is that, the industry does not utilize the mobile technology enough. At least in the management area. So I tried to make a web app specifically for it. Unfortunately there wasn't any interest for it.
A few things I noticed why:
- If they rely on a web app and lose internet connection then they're screwed.
- Tournament managers want native mobile application that has online capability
- I can't get anyone to try out my web app for their own tournaments
Solution:
- Make a native app that can perform offline
- Make the app applicable not just for martial arts. Make it usable by other sports (casual darts / billiard games)

}
About the app (Where it is right now):
- Creates a single elimination bracket
- Manages all the participants added in all brackets made
- Pure offline except when registering the user on first use.
- Auto seeds registered participants
- Limited to 4 brackets and max 8 participants per bracket
Todo:
- Get the first version stable
- See if there's any need for multiple bracketing types
- Follow it up with online capabilities by utilizing web app api
- Double Elimination brackets
Current issues:
- Once you upgrade to the next version it would clear the cache automatically to prevent issues that will make the app crash. This is more for database changes that happen often and fast. I don't know how to deal with it atm.
- The bracket view is slow. I'm not sure how to make it fast.
- The UI of the bracket , I'm not sure how to make it look like you need to tap the match area in order to view the match results/details

Thanks for looking!
