I'm using the default camera app on Beanstalk and I've also installed the 4.4 camera app but I experienced the same issue.
I don't even have the option to use HDR on the main camera and I've looked through the settings, but can't find anything relating to it.
By HDR mode I mean the front camera takes several pictures with different exposures and merges them together, it's annoying because it takes about 2 seconds and you must hold camera perfectly still to get it not to be blurry.
If I use the front camera while using Snapchat I do not have any issues. Any idea what could be causing this? How else should troubleshoot?
Recently got the Mi Mix 3 and having some quality of life issues with the camera.
Firstly it doesnt seem to play well with Snapchat, in that if Snapchat is set to currently use the front camera the notification "Push the screen down to open camera" does not go away, so even if I am just chatting or something, that is there. Any ideas how to remove it?
I am also wanting to leave the slider gestures on so that when I slide the phone down it will open the front camera in the camera app. However again this does not play ball with snapchat or whats app, it will automatically open the camera app even if another app is trying to take a photo.
Any ideas how to fix either issues?
For me the notification goes away after a few seconds if I don't touch the phone
I keep the camera orientation on the back camera for those kind of apps. Then it won't bother me until I need to use it. But if you want to keep it on the front ig it's something we just have to deal with. At least it goes away though.
I also have my slider settings to open the camera and it works fine when I have other camera apps open. Just need to make sure you've turned to front camera in app before you slide.

Yeah I have got used to it. Do you have your slider options set to "Take a selfie"? When I do that even if Whatsapp is on front camera and slide down, it opens the camera app itself.

Is there actually a method (with root or flashing ofcourse) to get rid of it altogether?

Yeah they're on 'Take a selfie ". And I just checked that out on my Whatsapp and it opens the camera within the app. I don't know why your device seems to be doing that.
Is there any way to have certain apps prompt to raise the selfie cam?
I use Google Duo on a regular basis for both voice and video calls. It bugs me that the selfie cam pops up as soon as the app opens.
Is there any way for this to be prompted?
I have a similar annoyance with Snapchat. Camera pops up when browsing friends list/chats. I'd only want it popped up when the camera viewfinder screen is open and it's not using the back camera(s).
Hi guys,
I don't know if it's possible, but since the popup camera have a limited number of uses (hundred of thousands, but limited), it's any way to force the main camera at start of the camera app, or any other app using camera? It happened to me mostly with WhatsApp, if I took a selfie with the wsp app camera, the app keep the last camera used, and when I open the camera to take another shot, so the frontal camera is unnecessarily popped up. This happens also with the Camera app, Instagram and any other app that calls the camera.
I love this phone, but this is the only thing I'd change of it.
You might want to try flashing your OOS again because my phone saves the camera it was last using across all apps. I haven't seen a phone not do this in years.

That's what he says. That's what he hates.
I think you don't have to worry about camera durability. As it's rated for 300.000 opens and closes at least, that's over 410 times per day for two years. So if you open your front camera 410 a day for two years straight, you should watch out. Otherwise you're good.
Hello everyone, after years of resolving my issues just by looking here on XDA, it's time that I post an issue with my Poco F2 Pro. Sorry if my english is not correct (i'm from Italy btw).
So, yesterday i got a notification that told me that i could download and install the MIUI latest version (13.0.8.0), and i did it. Later, when I wanted to send a photo i opened the rear camera and "surprise" it wasn't working. Here's what I found out trying some apps:
GCam >> when I open the app, the rear camera comes out but on the screen i see the frontal camera. If I swipe to the rear camera, the app freezes for a bit and then it cloes itself.
Camera's Stock App >> when I open the app, the rear camera comes out but on the screen i see the frontal camera. If I swipe to the rear camera, i visualize the Macro Camera.
Whatsapp >> the app doesn't even give the option to switch to the rear camera (in fact, i think that the app does not detect the rear camera) but i can easily take photos with the frontal camera.
Instagram >> here i have the option to swap to the rear camera but if I do so, the app freezes and it closes itself.
CIT Mode >> when I check for the Rear Camera, i get the error "get the empty or null camera id".
I brought these examples hoping to show that it's not an hardware problem, since before the update I used the phone and the rear camera easy as always, and i think that the update could have compromised or smth the way the phone detects the rear camera. Anybody has the same problem? Or at least anybody knows how to fix that?

Delete all other camera apps, erase all Miui camera data, reboot.
Same, factory reset.

Thx i'll try asap, meanwhile i have a question: erasing all Miui camera data means that I lose the photos that I took with the miui camera?

Nope, it's cache and settings.
Also, check permissions, long press camera icon, info/permissions.

This is indeed the solution if the factory reset does not change anything and before to concluded that there is a hardware problem.
