Hi guys
So, I got a friend that is going to Japan next month and I thought that she can buy me a new cell phone (galaxy s4 or xperia ZR) there.
I've been reading on the net that it is really difficult to buy a cell phone or even a sim card if you are no resident. It depends on the store that you are buying.
My question is: Is this cell phone going to work in my country, this case Brazil.
I asked this because in the past Japanese cell phones didn't use sim cards and networks where different, and I don't know how is it now.
Also, it can be network locked so it would't work with my carrier here.
any of you have some experience buying a cell phone in japan?
Thank you very much in advanced

I would advise buying against phones from Japan because most of them are tailored to their weird networks (general statement). I'd check what frequencies are used by your carrier and what frequencies the phone you're friend is going to buy supports. Japanese phones in general are usually made to operate in Japan with minimal support for extended use in other countries (e.g. you may get EDGE but that's it).
Thank you very much.
Looking on the web, I saw that there is a Sony store that sells international versions of their products. (And also a tax reduction )
Maybe I can find something there, looking at the webpage didn't find any cell phones.
i'm new in the forum and i have two questions as i know here the people know a lot about these topics.
i got my smartphone stolen 2 weeks ago, i live in mexico and i use TELCEL (GSM carrier)
in my country the smartphones are really overpriced like $913 US dollars for one samsung galaxy S4
browsing on ebay i saw a lot of BAD IMEI and BAD ESN(i know they are maybe stolen,blacklisted...) smartphones very cheap compared to the retail stores in my country
obviously i would only buy one smartphone that could be use on one GSM carrier.
1.if i buy one smartphone unlocked with bad imei or bad esn could i use it?
2.if i buy one smartphone locked with bad imei or bad esn ,could i do something to unlock it(like to pay for one unlock code, flash it) and use it?
thanx .
Next week i'll buy One A9 from germany and in my country (Turkey) government force people to register imei number to connect phones gsm network. its around 50 euros and the biggest problem is i have to find a person who entered country last 30 days with passaport and that person shouldnt register any imei in last 2 years.
and the question is if i change my phones' imei can i get/install official updates without problem??
thanks
Hello!
A friend came back (to Greece) from England with a Sony Xperia E5 (F3111) which was registered on the Ο2 network. While still in England, she tried to insert the Greek network SIM number but she was asked for an unlock code. She went to a cell-store in London and the assistant told her that she would receive the unlock code in about 15 days (which have gone by and she hasn't). Now she is back in Greece and we ran the procedure described by O2 in their site but they say it will take another month or so for the code.
Is there any other possible way to unlock the phone? We no longer trust those ''unlocking sites'', since my friend has already paid some money with no results?
Please hide (edit and delete) your phone's IMEI. You are not doing any service posting the IMEI. better to keep it secure and hidden.
Have you guys contacted O2 for the unlock code?

Thank you, of course we did but they said it could take more than a month. Eventually my friend did the job via some American unlocking site...
Quick question.
Is it possible to change IMEI on my Samsung S10 for free?
I've tried XPOSED, but I can't install the firmware. I've tried for a long time.
Phone Samsung GALAXY S10E (SM-G970F) (Nordic)
Thanks in advance.
Why you want to change? Only reason I could think that you have a stolen device and want to mask yourself...
Actually sometimes it would not be as you think. For example in Turkey which is my living country, is only accepts registered imei numbers. If you want to buy a smartphone from another country, you have to register this phone with your passport and have to pay additional tax for this process. But it is not finished yet. Now you have to wait 3 calendar years to register a new phone. In this example if you bought a phone last year and registered it to your passport, and you want to buy new one from outside of the country this year. It is a problem you cant register your new phone and you can not use it anymore in Turkey. So only think that you can do is change the imei with registered one. Years ago i did it for my s3. But i dont know is it possible for new phones. May be it could be hardcoded.
Special thanks to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the dictator...
Yes Turkey sucks regarding Phones.
Turkey puts ridiculously high taxes on Phones. For example if a Phone normally cost 1000$ they add 300$ in taxes so you end up with 1300$ which sucks. Especially since most turks are poor.
So they import or ask a relatives to buy them a Phone and bring it with them. But to prevent this from happening every Phone has to be registered with it's imei otherwise you get blacklisted and your Phone can't connect to a service.
Therefore I would agree and support this Bussiness to change imei.
Тоже интересует как поменять imei, жена постирала телефон, все работает кроме sim, отвалились imei((
my wife washed the phone, everything works except the SIM, the imei fell off ((tell me how to restore
