Hello,
when playing 4k HDR movies with MX Player on my Sony ATV XE9005, i receive grey bars instead of black bars.
This issue is already known from other players like Kodi, Plex etc and they have fixed that.
The solution for the other players was to set the root window transparent. I do not know if this is also the case for MX.
Is there a chance to get that fixed?

So I purchased an android tv box and it comes pre-installed with an older version of MX Player. When I play videos with this version, all the videos are shown with their correct resolution. However, when I update the app through the Play Store, it stretches all the videos to fit the screen. I've tried changing a lot of the settings with no luck. Can someone point me in the right direction?
When playing a video, hit the bottom right "zoom" button on the playback controls. See if that helps.

I have the same issue. Statement above, is clear. When streaming, if you press pause, MX PLAYER will try to Load; Stop; and End Playback.
Version 1.9.10(ARMv7 neon)
Running on Firestick (version 2, 4 gigs available)
mx player, Standard config.
Mp4 file ~500MB 720p max.(can be smaller or much larger makes no difference)
having trouble making a bug report because it is on a Firestick, however I did not always have this problem. Any help to point me and others in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, please.
Well, this is a problem for MX player already solved in other major competitors like kodi, nplayer and NOVA. It's a pitty that MX player developers doesn't fix this for android tv, it's just a matter of allowing subtitles to go below "0". It's a purely coding problem easily solved in hours. I hope plex doesn't solve it before you guys because then there will be no way people will use MX Player anyway. By now is still better than kodi (wastes less resources), better than NOVA (better PQ and sound) and better than nplayer (it's not forgotten), but plex android tv player uses exoplayer and it gives better PQ than Mx Player any day of the week, the problem with plex is the subtitle department that doesn't give a f#ck about users outside USA.
I sincerely hope MX Player listen to this and be the first android tv video player to give 100% full support for subtitles. And make no mistake, it's still the best in changing font and colors and outlines, but i don't understand how it forgot to let users put the subtitles in the bottom of screen (this problem only happens in android tv). I know in android pie smartphone you cna do it with touch or with a mouse and scroll subtitles down while playing a video but that doesn't work on android tv even with a mouse.
The problem is android tv is different than android pie (in smartphone) the botton of screen in a smartphone is higher than in a normal 16:9 TV, so when you apply the bottom in MX Player to a TV it doesn't go bellow the bottom of a smartphone.
I tried the MX player, but I found poorer image quality. When playing video in dark scenes, they looked like maps on black surfaces. And the picture was generally quite dark even at maximum screen brightness.
I downloaded the VLC player and the image was much nicer, brighter and annoying fragments from the black scenes disappeared. BUT
A few hours later, I wanted to continue watching and the picture was much darker, dark scenes than with the MX player.
I noticed that when I go to start VLC, the moment after clicking, the whole screen dims even before I open VLC.
So I tried to download BS player, and there it's ok, the picture is brighter than with MX and later VLC. And that brightness did not change even after a day, a week.
Did this solve a similar problem? I watch a lot of movies and series on my mobile, the dark picture also comes to me with Netflix. It's annoying.
Before OnePlus 8 Pro 256Gb I had a Xiaomi MI8 128GB version and there was no problem. The brightness was fine. And I used mostly MX and VLC.
Thank you in advance for your help.
So why not only use BS Player?
Because it also does this in Netflix. + subtitles sometimes go crazy in BS player. Even if I set the region.
Hi everyone,
When I watch a video using MX Player Pro, the screen stops before the notch and nothing I do will bring it over it.
Youtube is able to go over so it seems it's a software issue, has anyone been able to solve it?
Thanks!
I commented on a similar question in another thread....
Play full-screen video?
Hello. I just saw that apps like Prime Video or HBO Max, do not play the videos in full screen leaving the area where the camera is with a large black margin. On the contrary, YouTube or Netflix do occupy the entire screen. Do you know if there...

I also bought mxplayer pro but i switched to vlc waiting developers to correct their mistake
if your phone is rooted you can use Aspo Mods and turn off ignore the camera cutout and all videos etc now have full screen
