S-pen direct input on Note 10 - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

Hi,
when I was on Note 8 (I skipped Note 9) I used direct input for s-pen so as to be able to open the hand-writing box directly from the text box.
I didn't find the relevant item ("activate direct input") in settings in Note 10.
It's me or Samsung did remove the option?

I'm wondering the same thing. I used it a lot on my Note 8 and am a bit upset they removed it from the Note 10. Samsung always taking steps backwards is getting annoying AF! I hate the Samsung keyboard and that was how I would use my s-pen for texts, now I can't.

It's in Samsung keyboard settings. There's a radial for Pen Detection. Turn that on and tapping on any text box should bring up the text pad

[Q] S Note Mini App

When you select S Note from the Mini App tray, it appears as a sticky note that stays on top of your screen. Once you save it, it's now part of the S Note app. I may be overlooking it, but is there some way to restore the note to sticky note once saved?

[Q] S View and S Voice

OK - just got a Note 3 (got in quick when I heard rumours of a Note 4 about to launch) and I'm loving it. I upgraded from a Galaxy S3 and the extra screen size is wonderful. I've also fitted an S-View case which is very convenient, but I have a grumble about the way in which it interacts with S Voice. I tend to keep my phone in my pocket and use it via a headset (wired or Bluetooth) most of the time - this is particularly relevant with the Note which is such a large lump that it can be difficult to get out of a pocket quickly! The trouble is that when I call out "Hi Galaxy", it pops up a message in the S-View window telling me to open the case! Any one know how to set it (possibly patch) to work with the case closed?
With the old S3 (fitted with a basic case), it had no idea if the case was open or closed. Set to Hands Free mode and with a headset in, the phone was completely useable tucked away in a pocket almost all the time.

[Styllus] s-pen on s5

Is there any chance for a module/method to push it work together? Or maybe you can propose any other stulus with tense recognition
Sent from SM-G901F
It will never work, Note devices have a different screen, and S-Pens are exclusively for those, sadly.
slide down notification bar, turn on touch sensitivity.
grab any sort of conductive material (for example, the metal tip of a pen/ pencil/ thumbdrive's usb port), and swipe away on your screen like a stylus.
download the S Note app from the Samsung store and you'll have some features of the Note opened up

Missing screen mirroring on non rooted note 5 on sprint SOLVED!

Ok on my non rooted note 5 on sprint the instructions about going to the settings and edit and select screen mirroring don't work, as IT'S NOT there. To enable it, take a picture, go to the album, select the picture, hit share, at the bottom click screen mirroring. Way to go Samsung and Sprint. I'm pretty sure that this is either the result of the last update or Sprint.

Question Second screen?

Does anyone know if it's possible to extend screen /second screen with the S22 ultra? I know the Samsung galaxy tab s8 can be used as a second screen for PCs. I want to have my S8 ultra be a second screen for my S22 ultra. Is that possible?
Reason being is this. Since my phone has 5G I want to run a remote desktop thru my phone on a second screen with the tablet.
I have read it about 4 times and I'm still wondering:
why don't you activate Mobile Hotspot on your phone and use it with the tablet?

Good question. My mobile hot spot for t-mobile is capped at 4gb.i literally reached the cap within 30 minutes. Now this throttling at an excruciating speed of 600 kbps lol.
EDIT: So I did some more research crisis averted! Ended up looking up ways to by pass the tethering cap and ran into Every Proxy app. Now this will hold me over till they release the 5G version of the S8 Ultra.
Dunno if it's helpful, but found this

How's the upload speed using the Every Proxy app? My home internet's upload speed is crap but I was wondering if I used my S22 ultra's t-mobile hotspot with this app when I want to backup my files to the cloud once in a while if this would be be an option. Las time I tried this- like you I hit my hotspot cap in under 45 minutes. Can you tell us what upload speeds you're seeing with your t-mobile network and after once the Every proxy app is included in the chain?
Thanks!

Yes, it's possible. I discovered a way about 6 months ago, I just put it out on the internet recently. Whatever device you want to act as the second screen, swipe down from the top twice where you find the quick toggle button options. Find smartview. Click it. Then click the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner and goto settings. Then goto about smart view. Then tap on the word "smartview" about 7 or 8 times, and a developer menu will pop up with some extra options. One being "start second screen". Click to the left of the toggle. Scroll down and choose either video or drawing mode. Then goto your phone pr whatever other device you want to project, goto smartview, and you'll find the tablet in there. This has worked both ways with the note 10+, s22 ultra, tab s6 lite and tab s6.

Nice find. Thanks! Although I'll probably not use it that much, it's good to know.
I tried this. Here are my results.
S22 Ultra -> Tab S7 - Worked ok. The screen ratio was off and you need to make sure the tablet is same orientation as the phone. The screen mirroring is almost identical to how it works when mirroring to a TV or smart monitor.
Dell Inspiron desktop (w/2x27" monitors) -> Tab S7: Much better experience. I recommend the faster (gaming setting). The smoother setting has more lag, The text is smaller; which can be harder to read for older people who need reading glasses (like me).
Microsoft Surface Pro 6 -> Tab S7: Similar experience as the Dell. When set to the faster, gaming, setting, there is almost no lag. I am typing this on my SP6 with the desktop being extended across to my Tab S7.
I can see where the OP is coming from. For me, I probably wouldn't use it as a second screen for my phone. There are use case scenarios I would probably do this with my SP6 though. The biggest limitation for me is the text is harder to read.
@Wilazn
I can now see how this will work for you. If you have the keyboard cover for the Tab S8 Ultra, you can use @Joeyd13186's method to connect your S22 Ultra to your Tab S8 Ultra using DeX. I have the Tab S7 with the keyboard cover. I followed @Joeyd13186's instructions, but instead of using Smart Mirror, I used DeX and had my S22 Ultra connect to my Tab S7 as if it was a second (wireless) monitor. Now here is the really cool part! I could use my keyboard cover just like I was using it normally. The resolution is a not an exact match, but it is very much practical. To add icing, your S22 Ultra can still be used in its normal function.
Now, I have this working while connected to my home network. I will test it in the wild and report back how it works outside of my home network.

I figured it out. Follow @joeyd32405's instructions to allow your Tab S8 Ultra to be a second monitor. Then on your S22 Ultra turn on DeX and set it to project to an external wireless monitor. Your Tab S8 Ultra should pop up as a choice. Select that and you're off to the races.
I am typing this on my Tab S7+ that is being used as a wireless monitor by my S22 Ultra. Some key things. You will need either the keyboard cover for the Tab S8 Ultra, or a BT keyboard and mouse. I'm not sure a wired keyboard and mouse will work.
The keyboard cover is a little hokey. The backspace key does not work. To make a correction, I have to arrow back using the home key and then use Fn-Backspace to get delete the mistakes and type the correction.
Otherwise it seems to be practical. I'm using my S22 Ultra's non-Hotspot data.
Oh and you can use your phone normally because it is projecting DeX not your phone's home screen.
I can see how this can be useful. The truly only downside is the hit your battery life will take.

Are you rooted? People who have rooted their devices have run into problems using DeX.

It's not hidden. It's linked to Knox. There is a thread within the S22 Ultra forum talking about DeX and rooting.
