SM-G955U1 with AT&T firmware - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Today I flashed over to the current DSH1 AT&T firmware for the unlocked model to try and get wifi calling and volte for AT&T. Every thing went successful and firmware shows it's the right firmware (DSH1), but I expected there to be a AT&T boot logo and bloatware which there was not. Calling AT&T they confirmed the sim has wifi calling activated and ready to go, but still refuses to show up. I just searched all day on this and seems no one is talking about this at all for AT&T. Putting in my girlfriend's T-mobile sim, wifi calling will show up in the phone settings as normal. Any ideas whats up? Is there another firmware for AT&T I should be using? Yes I used all 4 firmware files and not the home CSC, also did 2 factory resets to make sure.

[Q] Getting my phone to work on Verizon

I was transferring a stock S3 from an other carrier to VZ. However the phone shows up with the roaming triangle over the cell bars and can't make or receive calls even though the SIM card has been activated. VZ store rep said that since the phone wasn't originally an Verizon phone it can't be activated to work on their network. However the VZ tech guy indicated that it could be flashed and would then work.
I have used ODIN 3.09 to flash I535VRUDNE1 onto the phone. After that i had UID inconsistent error and did a factory reset and the phone appears to work fine. In the "about phone" confirms that i am on version I535VRUDNE1. However the original problem remains that "roaming" triangle icon is there and i can't connect to VZ cellular service. When it factory rebooted there was a VZ screen that noted that this sim card has been activated and verified my phone number but it is still in roam mode. Should I be trying to flash a different or more basic ROM to get VZ to recognized and support it? I am completely lost on what to do next.
Background is that the other carrier was a VZ partner and they shared towers but the phone spent 99% of the time on VZ towers and network so I know it works on their network.
Thanks
David

I've heard of several issues both ways, people have reported phones not working from other carriers on Verizon and vice versa. I'm moving to straight talk soon myself with the VZW S3
From my CM11 S3

Carrier Switch to ATT issues

I just recently switched from Sprint to ATT after unlocking my phone. After the switch was pretty terrible when all the installed software just kind of broke. Caller ID even started screwing up.
Fast forward to now and I ran the process using the Factory Binary and Canadian Firmware and successfully got my phone to identify as an ATT phone and boot with the full logo and software suite. However after doing that I am still unable to get anything really ATT related working properly. All my caller ID issues are now fixed, but I can't get WiFi calling to work (the main reason I flashed ATT instead of unlocked)
Is there any way to get wifi calling working on my phone? If not should I just switch to the us unlocked firmware since Wifi calling is really the only reason I know of to use a carrier firmware.
Thanks!
Cannot find anyone to answer this either. Have Unlocked version of S8+ on AT&T and cannot get Wifi Calling or Video Calling. Get no answer that if I Flash AT&T firmware on phone will that get me Wifi Calling etc. like an AT&T phone.
I believe that with anything but a carrier sold device, you will never be able to get WiFi calling. In spite of flashing the proper CSC and firmware, the IMEI still shows up in their system as an "unknown" device.

Flashed G930T firmware onto G930V - phone locked?

I have a G930V and recently switched from Verizon to T-Mobile. I flashed the phone firmware to G930T so WiFi calling, VoLTE, and visual voicemail would work. After doing that, it seems the phone is now locked to the T-Mobile network - even though it was never locked on Verizon.
I wanted to de-bloat the phone and try G930U - but can I do that if the phone is locked now? Do I need to somehow unlock the phone first? Or is it only locked to the T-Mobile sim?
Also - If I switch to G930U, what will I lose other than bloatware? Just OTA updates? Do I have to do anything special to enable Advanced Messaging, Visual Voicemail, WiFi Calling, and VoLTE?

Are you "network-locked"? or have a different sort of issue? I have a ex-VZW S7; however, due to the previous owner, I was "network-locked" - and thus could NOT take the phone back to VZW (the phone's original network). I am a Tracfone customer; therefore, I COULD take the phone to T-Mobile (Tracfone uses both networks). My misgivings were, in fact, entirely due to previous experiences using T-Mobile's network (with Tracfone, Safelink Wireless, and Virgin Mobile USA. After porting the IMEI, I prayed and did the firmware change (both were flawless. Rather amusingly, my service has ALSO been flawless - better than it has previously been as a T-Mobile-MVNO customer - unexpected, to say the least. I went from swearing AT Trafcone (and T-Mobile) to swearing by them (and eating a heaping helping of CROW in the process) - when I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I've had VoLTE (and VoWiFi as well) since I've been on the Pink side of things - if you want updates, you want T-Mobile firmware, though. (I'm running Project L V.4 and knew going in I'd lose OTAs - if you'rer comfortable with that, that may be an option for you. If you're nervous, grab the latest T-Mobile ODIN TAR (it has its own thread) and flash that - the firmware is un-fooled-around with. Extract and flash with ODIN as normal.
Verizon S7 phones are not locked, period. There are instructions on how to put Tmobile rom on the phone. We have done 2 and both were easy and worked flawlessly. Wifi Calling and LTE

I know it is not locked as a Verizon phone. I am an talking about going BACK to 930V after flashing 930T. It appears to be network locked now...
I had the same issue. After changing the phone from a sm-930v to a sm-930t I placed a verizon sim in the phone and the carrier told me the device was network locked to T-Mobile. I used the T-Mobile unlock app and requested a carrier unlock. The message said, "phone permenantly unlocked." I am using a ATT sim card with Tracfone with no problems. By default Verizon phones are unlocked after 90 days if there are no pending contract issues. I think the T-Mobile carrier lock may depend upon the firmware you flash. You may want to wipe the data and try a different version.

930P->930U Not detecting Xfinity Mobile Sim [solved]

I flashed my S7 (930P) to a 930U following these instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0eye-zDOtQ
When I slap my XM sim in my S7, it tells me none detected. The sim is good, I can put it back in the e5 I snagged and it gets coverage immediately. I've tried flashing the modem with the VZW image and am pulling down the 930VC/CCT image now so I can try the Xfinity modem file in case that is the ticket.
If it's not, I'm not sure what my next step is. Any recommendations?
Turns out I'm not thinking straight. Checking the modem file now.
No luck
The device wasn't unlocked and I had the impression the U firmware would release that lock. Not true, still had to get Sprint to unlock.
@eskaryo
I have a sim unlocked Sprint S7 (g930p) on Android 8.0. And when I put in my active xfinity sim almost everything works. Data works, incoming and outgoing calls and texts work. But it won't switch out of roaming and all MMS including group text won't work. So do I just need to flash the firmware you mentioned to get everything working right? And can you flash it on a locked bootloader (which I believe this sprint s7 has)? If so can you confirm the exact firmware I need? Thank you!
I have the same problems with Xfinity service on my s7. This is most likely due to APN settings though I don't know for sure. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Convert G955W for use in the states?

I recently purchased an S8+ on ebay. It was listed as a G955U. I waited till my current billing cycle on my other phone was up to port my number over to the new phone on a new carrier. The 1st day or two, I had very spotty LTE coverage. It would constantly stop working, and now will not work at all. It'll say I have LTE, but it won't work. I've been trying to sort it out, and found that the phone is actually a G955W, converted to a G955U. Is there any firmware I can flash, or anything I can do to be able to use LTE, or am I stuck with a phone that has no data? I'm using a T-Mobile MVNO at the moment, but could easily change to an ATT MVNO as well.

You should be able to just pop a new sim in and it personalize but to start you off if it don't. You'll need to flash the current level of bootloader revision combo file then flash a current w firmware. The u u1 and w are all the same device essentially a u1 at heart with personalized software. But that should get you started
Thanks. Unfortunately I was going back and forth between different firmwares, and accidentally flashed U combo file to a W firmware. Phone no longer turns on.
