Email/ tweet push notifications arrive late when S7 [935F] is locked even though I'v - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

even though I've disabled all battery settings from stopping them running – whatsapp messages arrive instantly though?
I'm using the gmail app with my gmail/google account. I've battery saver turned off https://i.imgur.com/UCyqAAs.jpg I've enabled “allow background data usage” Https://i.imgur.com/1g4GIoS.jpg I read this way should fix it, but it didn't https://old.reddit.com/r/galaxys10/...notification_until_i_wake_the_device/elflp8v/ I've disable battery optimization for gmail in “set it to "not optimized" in "optimize battery usage" by going to Settings -> Device Maintenance -> Battery -> Battery Usage -> 3 dots or hold the Back key -> Optimize battery usage -> apps not optimized -> all apps” Https://i.imgur.com/8pekwOf.jpgi data saver is turned off https://i.imgur.com/CfhTmAw.jpg In gmail app notification settings I have allowed the notifications of gmail to appear (I think that selecting “hide content” is the one to do this) https://i.imgur.com/gOgSflJ.jpg . I've keep wifi on During sleep enabled https://i.imgur.com/0wrdkMc.jpg I had sync turned on https://i.imgur.com/1VrKxSd.jpg when i go to Settings -> Device Maintenance -> Battery -> gmail doesn't appear as a monitored app. I tested it there by sending an email to my account while my phone was locked, and it arrived instantly on my desktop gmail website version, while I receive the email notification on the phone while it was lockeded beetween 10-20 minutes after it had arrived on my desktop Gmail, – is there anyway I can keep the gmail sync Always running while my phone is locked so that I'll get the emails intently even while the phone is locked? I’m after noticing there that this also happens in Another online app, the official twitter app. But I receive whatsapp messages instantly even when locked So it must be disabling internet in certain apps. How would I stop internet from being deactivated in certain apps?

[Q] Can't turn on Background Tasks apps

I have a Samsung Focus with Mango installed. On a recent trip, in an effort to conserve battery, I turned off most of the background tasks (settings > applications > background tasks).
To try to turn them back on, I went back to that location and checked the box "Turn background tasks back on for this app the next time I open it". I then went to the app, opened it, but was not asked to turn background task on.
Does anyone know how to properly re-activate background tasks for particular apps?
Try pin the apps and also open the apps and see if there is a second push option. If so turn that on. If that doesn work, uninstall andre install.
I had the same issue with the BBC app as well as groupon. Once I reinstalled one I pinned and refreshed.
The app should itself have a setting to enable or disable the background agent; manually re-enabling it should work.
By the way, for future reference you can easily disable background agents temporarily by putting the phone in Battery Saver mode. This also disables automatic email syncing (another huge battery user) though you can still manually sync.

Slow notifcations during sleep ?

It seem push notification does not work well with Mate 7... for instance... whatsapp web.. in order for it to read messages at all I need to push the power button constantly to wake it up from sleep..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/help/push-notification-data-screen-off-t2985489
I don't know if this has been solved but their is a option on mate 7 which allows you to toggle between notification push and how you handle it when screen is off.
Go into protected apps and enable it and make sure notification manager is set to allow.
i dont see notification manager in protected app.
it's in settings.
Under "privacy & security" you'll see Notification manager and Protected Apps.
From main settings i have only security option no privacy&security.Mine mate 7 is 09-european version.
I'd suggest taking a look at your settings again.
Under "Privacy & Security" section you have:
- Location Access
- Do not disturb
- Notification Manager
- Protected Apps
- Security
- Fingerprint ID
- Backup & Reset
Yes i was in restricted and notification options but there is no option to set notification manager to allow, notify or restrict options.Notification manager is not on the list of apps for which you can set this 3 options or notification manager is with some other name in the main list.

Compendium of all sneaky background reporting settings on Galaxy S7

Gents and ladies,
Tmobile SD820 S7 flat user here, and like everyone else, have the high android system battery drain issue I have been trying to hunt down. Till samsung and tmo release a fix, I thought it would be beneficial to create an exhaustive list of all the phone settings where sneaky reporting and syncing is going on. The more I look, the more I find these backdoors in android and starting to get very irritated with the whole android ecosystem. An average user should not have to mess with their phone this extensively to get it to perform adequately. Maybe there is something to what the apple nazis say about an ecosystem where they control high quality. Marshmellow was supposed to come with better battery life (as they promised with Lollipop as well).
Anyway, enough ranting. Here is my list, please feel free to add more and I will update the OP.
Google activity controls - Google now page, settings at the top, then Google account settings, then accounts and privacy, then google activity controls. Turn off location history and other activity controls that you find you don't need.
Diagnostics reporting to Google - Google now page, settings at the top, then Accounts and privacy, turn off "help improve google"
Diagnostics reporting to Samsung - Samsung settings - personal - privacy and safety - Report diagnostic info - Off
Turn off anonymous reporting in Language and input - Settings - language and input - text to speech, google text to speech settings, then settings and turn off anonymous reporting
Turn off other security reports - Settings - lock screen & security - other security - security reports
Turn off access to hardware by different apps - Settings - privacy and safety - app permissions. e.g., Why on earth does google keep need body sensor access?!
Turn off unwanted syncing - Go to settings - accounts and check every account including Samsung, Whatsapp etc. and turn off syncing.
Turn off Contacts searching for nearby places and invoking location - Settings - applications - contacts and turn off "search for nearby places"
Turn off background data usage for unwanted apps - Settings - data usage - go through every app that you don't want background data usage for, and turn off
Turn off unwanted notifications - settings - applications - notifications
Turn off pop-up notifications for applications - settings - notifications - advanced settings - disable pop-up
Turn off push notifications for messages app - settings - applications - messages - turn off push. This does not impact receiving SMS/MMS.
Turn off OK Google detection from everywhere except home screen. Google now page, settings at the top, then voice then "OK google detection"
Other tips I have tried but I am not sure have helped:
Disable google now on tap.
Optimize battery usage for as many apps as you desire.
Disable wifi scanning and nearby device scanning - settings - location - improve accuracy and turn off wifi and bluetooth scanning
Enabled wifi smart network switch
WiFi calling turned off
VOLTE turned off
I cannot live without / do not want to compromise on (so will optimize battery despite the following always on):
Google now with high accuracy location mode
AOD
VOLTE
BT always on
Screen brightness set to 75%
WiFi calling set to on

Email Notification Badges

Hi all .... my apologies if this has already been asked, but I cant for the life of me get the email unread notification badge to work on the stock email app (it's a yahoo email account though)
It updates & shows up only when I manually go into the app, however nothing shows up untill then
Just got the phone yesterday, and this seems to be the only issue I've got so far ....
Many thanks
P
This was happening to me too. The email settings allow for checking the server from 15 mins and up only to save power.
Go:
email (app)
more (bottom popup widget)
settings
(click your email acct)
change sync frequency to 15 mins) Mine defaulted to 'never'
I'd ideally like push notifications to work with the email app but it appears not to be the case.
Hope this helps

Notifcations from Gmail and other apps popping up late.

Hey guys,
Have already disabled the battery optimization settings (Deep + sleep standby) in the battery settings.
Only Whatsapp notifications show up directly, but other apps like Gmail and Snapchat don't show their notifications directly; only after a bunch of hours.
What can I do?
