CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub...
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! These builds are experimental and can contain Bugs (as listed above). Make sure to do backups.
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server or Telegram group! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.

Alert slider is configurable (see attached picture). The display is running in QHD at 90Hz all the time, however I havn't experienced that to be much impact on the battery life (also check the attached pictures here on my typical battery life).

there is a very short flash upon touching the sensor which however doesnt last as long as the unlocking process as dimming is kicking in there. Given everyone is using the same implementation for the fingerprint sensor the TLDR answer would probably be "yes, it is".
Are the speakers more quiet then stock like other AOSP ROMs?
I can not find features. Navigation gestures are there ? Thanks dev for new rom
Tested for an hour
Here's some pics..
Some quick observation
1. No Oxygen gesture navigation option like most other roms offer.
2. No any kind Oxygen features like Dolby atmos or off screen gesture, panel modes, display modes,dc-dimming etc.
3.fingerprint reader is quick and reliable, but flashes issue appear just like most others roms.
4.Ambient display or AOD working fine.
5.Found some minor issues with some substratum theme that refused to be applied and didn't corporate well with rom.
6. If you are looking for tone of customization option this rom is not for you.

As for gestures, see below
5. That's weird. Mind naming the theme so I can look into it?
P.S. You can use the builtin theme Chooser in Settings -> Display too.
6. "ton of customizations is not our aim. Theres plenty of "lets add every feature we can find" kind of ROMs, Carbon is not one of them. We focus on being a performance oriented ROM with just the features you need and would expect in a stock ROM.

AOSP Navigation Gestures are working just fine. I think you mean the OP gestures.
We've been working on OP Gestures for a while (and TBH I kinda forgot about them at some point). The reason they are not included is that the implementations that are being used by ROMs out there all feel a little unpolished and/or have some kind of bugs. We wanted to fix that before merging but just never got around to do that just yet. Maybe in the future. Maybe not. I'm aware its one of the most demanded features right now though.

Google Product Sans Light. The ftf can be found with a Google search and you can use it in the ROM by creating a custom font package on https://fonts.carbonrom.org followed by choosing the font in the builtin font chooser.

Good to know. I went ahead and checked the Havoc sources and discovered that they were using the older OmniROM FOD implementation. Up until 3 days ago. So the question we're left with is: Is your statement still valid on builds younger than the 25th of August. If thats the case please let me know and I'll gladly look further into it.

Downloading, will report back in a bit, thanks for the good work
Update:
Works fine so far. No major issues that I have noticed except for lock screen.
Lock screen font is a bit annoying as it doesn't look right until rotation kicks in.
Settings definitely needs to be more organised: Theme switcher should not be in top level, it belongs to either "Tesla coil" or Display. Alternatively integrates with Layers manager (which should be included or linked by default IMHO).

Well, without any direct reference to Layers with something called "Theme switch" in settings is very confusing to new users. That is a fact. One should at least expect a PlayStore link.

To expect something that was obviously not a goal of a developer is to not respect the work they have done. You are awfully critical of a ROM that you haven't contributed to.
That said, @GtrCraft great job!

That's your opinion, and I vehemently disagree. And I would argue you are not contributing anything to the community by giving out only generic props.
a. To expect ease of use is not too much to ask in any case. ESPECIALLY for a TITULAR FEATURE. For a new starter, there's absolutely no obvious reference for a titular feature - this warrants a faulty design for any product.
b. To say one can't be "critical of a ROM that you haven't contributed to" is outright outrageous. For one, downloading and offering suggestion IS contributing. That aside, not allowing criticism especially a constructive one, is just stupid. What do you stand for? Dictatorism?
To be clear, I think it is a good ROM, better than any CM13 based ROM I've tried so far (Layers FTW, and "Security" settings doesn't crash for my set of mods). The flawed design does not affect me personally and I can modify the code or simply use xposed for myself if that's necessary.

Be certain to do a full backup of your music, photos, data, apps, call logs, sms/text and so on before flashing.
Coming from a firmware version prior official 4.x, you must flash 4.0.2 official Oxygen OS (NO BETA) and do a full wipe, then flash TWRP, then full wipe, then flash OmniROM.
You MUST DO A FULL WIPE, whether you are coming from homemade builds , or a previous version of OmniROM, because OmniROM is signed with different keys, and it will not boot otherwise.
GAPPS must be flashed BEFORE initial boot, they will NOT work properly if you flash them afterwards !!!

Short report of first weekly:
Battery and overall performance is pretty good, everything works as expected.
Some things I found:
1. Scroll speed is a bit low, doesn't feel as smooth as Laos or OOS
2. Fingerprint sensor isn't working always after opening the flipcase
Beside that this is a real good custom ROM. Only thing I miss featurewise is the settings to configure hardware buttons (long press and double tab)

Thanks for your answer and yes, I do use the right firmware. It works most times, but sometimes it seems to not correctly get the "Proximity Sensor is free" information. But that can be also a hardware issue as I have had that on OOS too, also not that often (and only one time at LAOS) so I thought it might be worth mentioning.
I did some Android ROM development myself (PSX, Exodus) so I know how frustrating it could be if only one user reports an issue. That's why I think it's important that everybody reports such hard unreproducible issues so you at least can see it's not a one user issue only (or maybe see it's an one user issue ) if many report it, there might be chances to find reasons (same app used etc.)

@maxwen might be able to answer that one, he's also using a flip cover, but I would have heard of it by now if he encountered such issue ... Actually, proximity sensor is hell sensitive on my side (maybe too much ^^').

Camera is a bit different than LOS although we're still using HAL1 for Snapdragon camera, same as they are, and since it works as is, I prefer to wait for Oneplus to release their stuff for camera before touching (therefore breaking something else) anything. I've got some work planned on this, no ETA, but I really closely look at what's doable. What I want is improved camera features with an acceptable quality. I will keep you informed whenever I make progress on this, but I really can't give an ETA on this

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 6, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

Ability to use some arm64 only apps. Performance improvement is marginal. Battery seems better
Build #4 added
Build 4 is awesome. Performance is great. Getting solid 40fps in bulletforce, even in sticky situations. Boot lag is gone.
is 7.1.2 update live for stylo 2 plus t mobile?
i did root my phone etc, noticed there was an update but pretty sure it's not an upgrade to the new firmware. Anyone confirm before i revert my root.
For all of those people who multitask and notice RAM drops, first off: don't join the GC or you'll get shot ? secondly, after using all ROMs and experimenting, USE LSPEED. These ROMs aren't made with optimization because they're unofficial, but LSpeed set to multitask will completely fix that but don't go haywire since you still only have 2 gigs of RAM.

Good suggestion with the LSPEED thing and as for the group chat, we're all supportive and helpful, just don't be a fcking idiot or an immature little kid or just generally an ashole like Daniel aka "savagevegeta" here and you'll be fine

Well, that IS me and I UNDERSTAND I was an asshole, I'm just here to suggest to the people who experienced lag to use L-Speed because it helped completely. I AM Daniel, and I did hate what you guys do to people who bug report or suggest ROMs be free and not forced donation, but I'll still support at least a little just so people can experience what a ROM is supposed to feel like, everyone alike. Excuse the rudeness from before, and I hope Messi is reading this as well because it goes to him, too, and hopefully L-Speed will help him discover something

It's the way that you acted and how you reported the bugs and such. These ROMs take a lot of work to make, especially for Messi to sit there for hours upon hours and make it happen. A working Oreo build will take some time, maybe even longer. No donation is forced either, you have all these new builds for free. It is just going to take maybe a lot more to make something like Oreo work completely since it's really broken right now. It's like, wouldn't you want something in return other than appreciation and support for such hard work? Especially if you had to sit there for countless hours for free for something like a new ROM, that is going to take a lot of work to fix, for a device you don't even use as a daily driver. Hopefully you can understand that.

Yes, I do understand, but no, I wouldn't want anything in return because this should be for fun, not if it stresses you. It's cool he's working on them, I respect that now. He just isn't forced and shouldn't expect anything in return because this is supposed to be for fun and to give to the community. But I understand your point and I'll let you be.
Very Nice Rom!!!! Will flash this rom again after using AOKP 64bit for a bit. Thank you very much to the Developer!!!!
Audio problems?
Anybody else having any audio problems? Imon build 4 and the microphone and headset gain seems really high and when I'm on a call and I tried to lower the volume it's adjusts the Bluetooth volume instead. Manually changing it with the system software has no effect and manually changing it with a third party app works temporarily. Is this a bug or just me?

We are very excited to announce the release of Paranoid Android Quartz, based on Android 10.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhance the overall user experience. You can find all of the Paranoid Android wallpapers and many more in the Abstruct app, included in our builds.
Our builds are based on the Code Aurora Forum Android base, which is optimized for Qualcomm platforms and has a higher degree of performance, battery life, and functionality compared to the Android Open Source Project platform. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features, performance, and stability. We are dedicated to providing a user experience with the stability that you can expect from stock ROMs with best-in-class performance and features to help you get the most out of your device.
Notice
As we are growing on our list of supported devices in each release, we require of a stronger build environment so we can speed up the compilation process for releases. Based on the actual Quartz 4 list, we support over 30 devices, which takes between 2 and 3 days for all the builds to be completed without counting possible compilation issues or rebuild needs, based on our current specs.
We kindly ask all of you that are in position to donate anything, to help and support us so we can provide better and faster build releases, as well as increase the download speed of our servers, all looking for your enjoyment.

The only reason you would need to install OOS first is if you're not on the latest firmware, and even then I believe someone packages the latest firmware so you can flash it in TWRP.
AWESOME ROM! THANKS @ZVNexus! Hands down it's smooth! :3
Thank you for maintaining OP3/T
I've been trying several Android 10 ROM since 2 months ago. First thing I notice, PA is smooooth
So far, I only have 1 issue. Since our device use hardware navigation key, it will be nice if there is a setting for that.
Swapping key, long press action, etc
Will you be keeping it maintained with monthly security updates?

Exactly, What roms have you tried and can you give a brief overview and comparison?

That's something I'm working on, but is a lower priority. I have back as left by default because that's what OP does in stock, also Google for their Pixels.
At first sight the Rom feels very smooth, however Pulse notification doesn't work and for my taste it lacks on some customization options (status bar clock, fonts, HW keys menu and so on). I am very curious to look at the next steps.

Just tested Pulse, it works. Could you specify exactly what you mean? As for customization options I am actively working on porting the button customization. So far I have button backlight. Can't comment on fonts or status bar stuff though.
I want to give you some feedback for the ROM
1) Off screen gestures like draw V, O, >, < and || are missing.
2) Could you include an option to mute screenshot sound? It's very annoying to hear the sound everytime.
3) Button light, but I think that you will fix it soon
4) The charging text on lockscreen is very high compared to the two shortcut at the bottom.
You are probably aware of these, but I want to report anyway.
Thank you for this amazing rom and for maintain OP3.
Appreciate the efforts you made.
Up to my experience, both with ambient display on and off, and lift phone activated, by lifting the phone, or by double tapping the display, edge light doesn't show and display just wakes up. I've found no way to let the display show edge light. Thank you for your quick answer.

What is PAX?
Our release of Android 10, titled CR-8.0, is codenamed PAX after the latin word for peace and Pax, the roman godess for peace.
PAX provides you with the features you need while keeping the focus on delivering an elegant, smooth, and well polished experience. PAX delivers a set of unique features, like a systemwide font engine that also allows for applying fonts on user apps while supporting user fonts through custom APKs generated on fonts.carbonrom.org.

Note: previously, I was able to lock bands in other roms, but i think they were not on same vendor/system versions, so not sure if this is rom specific or vendor specific

On statusbar, battery percentage font style is different than clock font style. Battery percentage has regular font style while clock has medium font style. I usually saw that battery percentage has medium font style like I saw on such as Lineageos. Could you please look into it? I wish that battery percentage has medium font style too. Thanks a lot.
