Am I wrong for believing there is a Samsung version of visual voicemail that can be used on the unlocked phones?
I would like to give it a spin but cannot find it.
use T-Moible voicemail if you're using on T-Mobile Network, or use YouMail app or Google Voice if you have one.

That was one of the problems I ran into using an unlocked phone on Verizon network a couple of years ago. Also, I was not able to get notifications for text, etc. After that, I swore off unlocked phones. But things may have changed since then, or you may find a work around. Good luck.

I just uninstalled TVV and will look to give YouMail a try.
However my question still remains, am I wrong to assume that there is a Samsung Visual Voicemail app that can be used. I swear I read something about how people hated the Tmobile version because they make you pay to transcribe the voicemail to text but the Samsung version did not.
Yes it has the Samsung one installed. It comes up as voicemail in the finder...it's not baked in to the dialer though which is super annoying.
If you want the at&t visual voicemail or other branded version the apk is out there and I can confirm does work on our phone the same issue is still present though regarding the missing icon from the dialer...
Xda hates my phone at the moment so I can't upload a picture but the image for the Samsung one looks just like the voicemail notification symbol.

It's available from the galaxy app store according to the app info. I definitely didn't download it and it wasn't on my last device.

Hey guys,
Forgive me I am new to the Verizon family as I just came from the Evo on Sprint.
Is there no way to get visual voicemail for free on Verizon? It never even crossed my mind that this would not be possible. I honestly don't know though if my visual voicemail on Sprint was standard or the result of my rooted rom on the Evo.
Anyone?
Thanks!
If you have a Google Voice account, you can use that as your phone's voicemail provider, giving you visual voicemail.

I do have an account, shortly before I switched I "integrated" GV with my Evo and boy was that slick. I'll search for a guide on how to do it the normal way.
Just download the GV app to your phone and it should walk you through the process.

Got it. Thanks!
You'll probably need a new (separate) GV number, though, now that you've ported the original.

Nope I didn't. Worked great.
I actually prefer YouMail. Since I discovered it several years ago, in my WM days, the functionality offered by it has caused me to immediately disregard all carrier VM options. As a matter of fact, my VZW VM isn't even setup, ~2 years after switching from AT&T.

I too am wondering the same thing. I have had my Bell line originally provisioned with VVM for Blackberry and I would get an MMS message after the VM notification that looked like it was trying to send the VVM. I then had it provisioned as VVM for the iPhone and now I don't get any VM notifications at all.
I had read something about a user who had VVM for Android provisioned on their phone and once they set it up by putting their SIM into the Android it worked when the SIM went back in the Win Phone.
Not sure if Bell does VVM for Android though. Been too busy to check with them.
I do admit that not having the VM notifying me is kind of nice. I am actually considering ditching VM completely
I had originally SM-G955U and i wanted to get rid of the verizon bloatware so i flashed SM-G955U1
all is working fine except the voicemail notifications. I am not getting any notifications of having voicemails. I called my phone number using a different number and left a voicemail.
I am not getting anything.
Does anybody know how i can fix this to get notifications of voicemails? I wouldnt like to be calling my voicemail to check if i have any messages.

How's it going man. Most people install Google voice and setup their verizon number to forward to Google voice voicemail. With the unlocked firmware, you lose the visual voicemail app from verizon, and that's the only hiccup for me. I use Google voice, it has the voicemail to text option for free unlike Verizon's offerings. Good luck, let us know if you get it working or need help.

Dang. Where do you think you got stuck with Google voice? I wish I had a tutorial for you to follow, it was more of a pain without having a Google voice number setup it seemed.

Read on Reddit that Verizon is moving forward with this today. A few Verizon Pixel 3/3XL employees were discussing. RCS started working after a Carrier Services(November 30th build date) was pushed to their phones. Wanted to see if anyone received and if they could capture the APK for the rest of the community and to test on the Pixel and Pixel 2?

If you open the top right menu and go under advanced and look for "Chat Features" and you have it means you have the RCS chat update. The "Start Chat" bubble has always been there and that's what you select to start a new message etc and has nothing to do with the RCS chat update.
Here is a screenshot
Weird thing. My default app is Textra. If I go to the settings in the stock messenger, I see the chat options are grayed out. If I make the stock messenger my default I don't see the chat options anymore

Have the Unlocked Pixel 3 XL from Google on Verizon, chat isn't available yet. Anyway to push it?
I have the pixel 3xl unlocked from Google on Verizon and it did it by itself this morning
Verizon Pixel 3 XL here in PA, I haven't got it yet.
I have the unlocked P3XL on Verizon in Tennessee and I don't have the chat option yet.
Same, my default texting app is Pulse. Shows greyed out when Messages is not the default messaging app. Disappears when I change it to default.
Nothing here yet. Not like I'll be able to use it much anyway. Most of the people I talk to are on Verizon or T Mobile (without a Samsung phone), or have an iPhone.
i dont know why fi doesn't support it
and same with t mobile
unlocked , on verizon. with latest December update.. i dont have the chat feature option. using stock google messages.

Great, so all we need to use RCS is a Pixel 3, on Verizon, using the stock text app, and communicate with someone who also has a Pixel 3, with the stock text app, on Verizon.
Geez, just tell us to hop on one leg while reciting the alphabet backwards...
Still don't have RCS
Does this trickle down to MVNO's that use Verizon as well or is it just Verizon?

I was told by Verizon Pre Paid help last night it's not on Pre Paid yet... but I've also seen people on Straight Talk on Reddit claim it works so I just have to say IDK.

I have it.
I've always downloaded Samsung Visual voicemal from APK mirror for all unlocked samsung devices, even my note 10. I installed it fine on the note 20 but when i try to open it it says not supported. Any idea for a visual VM program? Voicemail is practically useless without VVM.
I can't find the Verizon VVM that is compatible either. I'm looking for the APK if anyone figures it out.
Transferred Tmo VVM app via Smart Switch from previous S10+. Working fine on unlocked N20+
I downloaded version 12.1.00.35 from the Galaxy store on my US unlocked Ultra and it works just fine. I am AT&T for cell service , just moved sim from note 9 to this phone.

not sure if this is applicable for your situation but, i have a note 20 ultra unlocked (US Version) using google fi.
I downloaded the google phone app from APKMirror then installed (one of the newer apk's), set as default, then i installed an "android go" version of the phone app from APKMIrror as well, and now i have visual voicemail, it stuck after a reboot and is working for visual voicemail (transcript appears and seems accurate). It is a bit funky as it hangs when i try to play voicemails over the earpiece but it seems like playing it via speaker phone is fine. There is also a toast notification that pops up every time i open the phone app that says the device is not compatible and phone calls may not work properly, but it seems fine. YMMV!

Have you tried downloading carrier service from the play store? I have an unlock version with Verizon sim and visual voice-mail works. Thats the only thing I can think of that I added

Thanks. AT&T is going to turn off 3G in 2/21, and so I am worried about buying a phone without volte support -- on their network.

How did you get it to work?
I didn't do anything, I mean, I put my sim card in the phone, turned it on, logged in with my google account, did the software update they pushed, rebooted. etc..... I did dial into my voice mail and checked everything and it was working, then I opened visual voice mail and it worked, I didn't do anything to make it work.
