Gear 2 (SM-R380) Hangs at startup after installing new battery - Samsung Gear 2

Hello all,
I am trying to get my old Gear 2 working, again. It is running stock firmware (I can't find out which version), no root. It was working perfectly, but only held a charge for a couple hours, so I decided to install a new battery. It seemed like a pretty straight forward installation process, but once completed, I could not get past the "Samsung Gear 2" boot screen. It just hangs there.
I can get into the "advanced options" by rebooting, then clicking the home button 3 times. I can long click continue (gets stuck), I can long click download (more on that later), and I can long click on "power off". However, when I try to long click on "Recovery", nothing happens. It just boots and then hangs at the same screen.
I decided to try to install one of the custom ROMs to see if that would fix the issue. I followed instructions to use Odin to flash.
I downloaded and ran sdb.exe. I downloaded and installed "Samsung_USB_Driver_for_mobile_Phones". I downloaded several ROMs, including R380XXU0BNE5rootfs_root.tar (et. al), Gear2_Wear_Lolipop_5.1.1_06292015.tar, and Gear2_Wear6_Rel6
I opened Odin (tried with both 3.09 and 3.13.1), put my watch into download mode, connected to PC. Odin recognized the watch with a light blue "0:[COM4]. The only boxes "ticked" are "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" I put the file into the AP section and hit "Start". It shows that it is beginning the process, but then FAILS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I fear i am am in similar situation
with SW-R380_EUR_XX

I have the same issue and I am quite sad as I liked my gear2
If anyone have any clue I am all ears.

Do you still have the old battery? Does it work (somewhat) with it?
It could be that the thermistor or ID wiring on the new battery is wrong.
If you're good with electronics you can use the old circuit board from the battery and a power supply to prove that the device is ok.

[Completed] [Q] Sprint Galaxy S5 Sport Brick? Bootloop.

I wanted to solve this problem on my own but after almost 6 hours I just can't figure it out. Its either totally bricked or I'm just missing something simple. I've seen many people complain about this problem but none of them seem to have had the same problem I do. Thing is I was just really starting to love the way I had the phone set up. DAMN!
I used this thread to root: (CF)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/help/q-root-galaxy-s5-sport-sm-860p-t2859473
SPRINT GALAXY S5 SPORT SM-G860P
Android 4.4
I had CW recovery installed
(wish I had more info about the software)
Here's whats happening:
START
(vibrate)
RECOVERY BOOTING...
RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
Set Warranty Bit : recovery
(Also on Screen are the logos)
Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport
Powered by Android
This stays on for about 10 seconds.
Then blank screen (2 seconds)
(vibrate)
Screen still blank (2 seconds)
REPEAT (Auto reboot and goes back to start)
Other notes:
Trying to boot into recovery (home+vol up+power) Nothing Happens
Try to power off and nothing happens.
Pulled battery, did the 30 sec and restarted no change.
I have all updated usb drivers.
Odin will not see the device because its not on long enough. (Kies didn't see it either.)
Plug into PC via usb - Nothing Happens, device doesn't even show up because its not on long enough (win 8.1 and 7)
Pull battery to get it to stop, once battery goes back in, it auto starts again.
I TRIED AS MANY SD CARD / BATTERY/USB CABLE/POWER CABLE/BATTERY PULL/BUTTON COMBINATIONS AS I COULD FIND ONLINE AND THEN SOME. No Luck with anything.
I know this isn't a "help desk" I just wanted to give as much info as possible hoping to help you help me!
Please point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
Try to hard-reset your phone. There is a button combination for that., search it over the internet.
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately the hard reset combo does nothing. I've tried every button combination that I have been able to find with no luck. Factory reset, hard reset, etc. etc. no luck. I've also searched for a possible "hidden" button underneath the back cover or something of the like...nothing.
hmmmm
At least, it is not hard-bricked. So there is hope.
Have you checked if it is entering the download mode? If not, then try it. You can use this mode to flash file via the PC.
Check this link
It worked! Obviously I didn't search or try as many things as I thought I did. : / I can't thank you enough! wow. Amazing!

[Q] Galaxy S6 won't boot. Black Screen, Blue Pulsing LED

Ok. So 14 days ago my wife and I both got S6's for Verizon from a local big box store. (yes, 14. Today is the last day I have to take it back.)
We took the OTA to OE2 and I was able to root both phones with PingPong. Everything was fine until yesterday. Her phone wasn't responding when a call was coming in, so she restarted it by holding in the power button. Now, when it boots up it goes to a black screen after showing the initial "Samsung Galaxy S6" screen. Nothing changes. There is a teal/blue pulsing LED that doesn't go away.
I can enter the recovery and wipe cache, factory reset, safemode, etc. I've tried all of those many times. I can enter download mode and use Odin 3.10.6 to reflash OE2 and it says "Pass". After rebooting, it goes to the "Android is upgrading" dialog and goes through and updates about 248 apps, and then changes to read "Starting apps." It won't go past that screen. I left it on that from 10pm last night until 6am this morning with no change. The battery eventually went dead (from 100%). I've tried Odin many times, and it passes every time.
What are my options? When booting, the padlock is unlocked and says "Custom". I'd really like to get rid of that so I can return it to today without problems. When in Download mode, the system status says "custom".
Please help!!
I've also tried using SmartSwitch on the PC, and it doesn't detect the phone.
Update: I'm trying an Emergency Recovery with Smart Switch. It's at 52% right now. I got a serial number from another S6 so it would allow the download/recovery process to start. It's kind of ridiculous you can't get the serial number for your device from anywhere but the settings page on the phone. (Note: not the IMEI, the actual SN). It's not on the box or back of the phone.
Ok, another update. Emergency Recovery didn't work. It finished, and said that it was successful, but didn't fix the issue.
I took the phone back to the place of purchase and they tried about everything that I had already tried. They ended up just replacing the phone. They said that they never saw this issue before.
I have almost an identical issue except I have not roOted or installed any custom ROMs everything is stock . The fingerprint scanner quit working today and said it required a restart, when I restarted the phone I'm experiencing exactly what you are a black screen and a blue pulsing light. In the stock recovery screen I've tried booting to safe mode USB debugging everything except the factory restore yet I think that is my last resort.

Screen cycles on and off after factory reset, software update fails.

I bought a used S2 Classic on ebay. It came factory reset, so I went to install and setup when I received it. I was able to install Samsung Gear on my Galaxy S5 with no problems, but once I was able to connect to the watch, it stopped behaving. Any move I try to make upon the watch itself simply results in a one second look at the screen, before going dark for about 3 seconds, and then flashing the screen for another second. It will do this a few times and then quit. I have tried several factory resets, as well as removing all the gear software from my phone and rebooting it as well. When the apps are finished it tries to update the watch, but the watch says 'update failed, please visit a samsung service center.' Sadly I live in the back of beyond, so.....
Anyways, please help. I have been scouring both this site and google for two days without any answers. I really don't want to have to return this. It's so pretty. And shiny.....we like shiny..... :silly:
After messing some more, I did notice that the update stops at 13% every time and then fails. I have seen this same problem on another post, but no solution was forthcoming short of the aforementioned visit to the ever-distant samsung service center.
Thinking I may be returning this one and shelling out the extra $$ for a new one.
UPDATE: Got sick of this dead thing, so after much ado about nothing, I am sending it back for a refund. I went to Best Buy today and bought a new one, as they had them on sale. Love it so far. Not gonna miss the dead one. LOL
I have the same problem. I think I will need to get it to a service point.
While it performed a firmware update the HR-app did checked my heartrate and I guess this stopped the firmware update.
What now happens is: vibrate-samsung logo-screen off-repeat
When I use these steps:
-switch off device*
-press and hold Power button, till you get the Samsung Gear Rebooting.. Screen.*
-press power button several times very short
-the bootloader menue should open
-select recovery by pressing the power button.*
-apply selection by pressing and holding the power button*
The option recovery is not available, only continue download and Power off.
I guess there is no software left to recover.
Do you know if there is anything I can do myself now?
(There is no wireless download option also, only normal download)
With thanks and greetings wishing everyone a nice day

S7 crashes on boot. No response to input. Drain to 0% to power on again.

It started a few days ago, I was testing a cardboard/gear vr unity game and the screen would turn black but the buttons were responsive and I could get it to hard reboot or make it come back again after plugging it back into the gear. I looked around but couldn't find anything that resembles my issue.
Now as soon as it boots it goes into a black screen after samsung and carrier logos show, i sometimes get a glimpse of the lock screen and respond to some input.
The phone is still on, I can feel the battery warm.
-No response to any input. Not even pwr+vol down.
-PC won't detect it when plugged.
-No lights on charging.
-I need to let it fully drain for it to shut down and try anything again.
-Did a factory reset from recovery mode, wipe cache. Still the same.
-No root.
-There was an update that may have installed overnight but can't confirm because can't access system info.
EDIT: New find! when booting to recovery, goes into "Installing Update" and then "No command".
Any thoughts??
Is there some pc software that i can use to try to reinstall firmware? Something like SEUS for sony phones back in the day?
Is odin safe or should i look into a samsung official tool? I've never used odin so i'm not sure of it's capabilities (this is my first sammy phone, I had it to get to test gear vr apps)
Sorry for the long post but wanted to get all the info out there.
Thanks!
Can you enter "Download Mode"? (By rebooting and pressing HOME + VOLUME DOWN)
If yes, I suggest that you try, as you suggested, reinstalling your firmware.
You will have to know your carrier, or specific phone model (G930X, where X represents carrier letter (Example: T for T-Mobile) )
Modified Odin (by PrinceComsy): https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591023225177749
Then I suggest downloading firmware from https://SamsungBay.com as all other sources restrict download speed (So it takes a minimum of 13 hours).
https://samsungbay.com/download-firmware/?device=&model=sm-G930&firmware=
Once you have Odin and Firmware, load the correct files.
(AP_G930X), (BL_G930X), (CP_G930X), and (CSC_G930X) into Odin.
Power off phone, and boot into download mode (Pressing HOME + VOLUME DOWN)
N.B/ You will lose all your phone data, sadly, but it seems you've already wiped it.

Stuck on Boot Loop after update!

3 days ago I've woken up to my "supernatural" work-out to find out the light on the side of the oculus is RED, which was funky cause it was plugged in all night.
SO, I've looked inside and saw that it's "Updating' I was all happy to get the latest version, but then it just finished, showed the logo blinking as usual and then - NOTHING!
Blank screen, after a couple of seconds - Again started up, Logo, Updating, Logo, Dead. -->> Over and over again and again!!!
I can't connect to it via the phone APP as it keeps restarting and going to update like mentioned, computer doesn't connect as well!
I tried holding down the buttons and factory reset the thing, it goes to Erasing -> Update - > Logo - DEAD! same loop, looks like the "Basic" upgrading is faulty so it can't even factory reset.
Tried to choose 'sideload' option from the "USB update menu" - no good! reboots to loop again.
I can get it to stay stiil if I pop up the 'USB UPDATE MENU' with the buttons and just leave it there, USB Connection to PC shows up 'Oculus ADB Interface' in device manager but I can't get the device to show on "Adb devices" Probaby because it's not on 'developer mode', maybe.
Tried to update drivers and to re'install adb.
PC app shows oculus as connected but I can't do anthying through there...
Contacted support 3 days ago - Nothing! they will look into it... NOTHING! sooooo angry!
EDIT>>
I have managed to pair once from the phone APP but as it "finished' the setup it went straight back into that update boot loop and can't connect again on phone.
Was hoping to manage to get it to developer mode and maybe force an update via adb.
I've been coding for most of my life, playing around with android phones software and such... so i'm not a complete idiot when it comes to these things but this one looks like there is no other choice but just sending it back for repair.
But these guys don't answer or anything... don't even know If I can send it or not, where to etc...
Boot loop:

Tried factory reset:

ANY IDEAS?
come on you guys!!! nothing?!
OK,
Found out I can make the device show in ADB Devices list if I manually load the USB Update menu (volume+power) and then choose sideload option.
However, this won't help much it disconnects from ADB as soon as it finishes loading the logo and restarts the update loop.
I tried to start the sideload as soon as it pops up in the device list, got to 4% serving and then connection was cut off...
If there was a mini update file (couple of KB\MBs) with some settings to make the oculus reset into sideload mode and stop looping i could sideloap a proper version and make it work again maybe.
Please someone help me fix the oculusssss pleaseee!
I same!!!
and oculus support said
"With that in mind, Oculus will not be able to offer warranty replacment/repair for this headset. I can only suggest that you consider purchasing a replacement device from our online store or an authorized retailer. "
fxxxk!!!!!!!!
You're great man. I didn't have such an issue, but I also didn't know the Quest had a menu like this.
Hey @Shlomikalfa - did you ever come back to this and make any progress? With the Quest 2 situation now, and FB logins required, I suspect a LOT more people are going to get interested in this idea.
Just to add, my Quest2 has being working just fine since I got it at launch from Amazon. I was playing beatsaber last night until it ran out of battery and shutdown. I plugged it in to charge and went to bed. This morning, I tried to turn it back on, and it went straight to the USB UPDATE MENU!!
I tried every single option in the USB UPDATE MENU, including factory reset, and it reboots and goes immediately back to the USB UPDATE MENU again. The only option that doesn't take you back to that menu, is POWER OFF! (LOL)
But if I power off, as soon as I power it back on, I got the same menu!
The volume buttons are not stuck at all... since I can use then to navigate the options in the menu.
So I just created a ticket at Oculus support to see what they say!
Good thing is that Amazon.ca gave me until January 31/2021 to return the headset... so if Oculus doesn't sort it out, I'll be returning to amazon for a refund!
Funny thing though. While in this "USB UPDATE MENU", I plugged it in my linux box, and it shows as a fastboot device! I can even run "fastboot reboot" and it indeed does reboot the headset!
I tried "fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability" just to see if it would say 0 or 1... but got an error: "FAILED (remote: 'unknown command')"
Does anyone want me try anything? (as long as the warranty is not voided since I'm waiting support answer! )
