This notification is one of the few problems I have with the device.
I don't need it to display this notification every time I remove the pen and it seems useless since I have to be looking at the device to even notice the notification. I'm not sure how they expect me to see the notification but somehow not notice that the pen has been removed. So, we have a useless notification that ends up blocking a key feature to the device: the edge screen. I often find myself waiting a few seconds or having to click the X just to use the edge panel with my most used apps. It's a small difference, but kind of significant when it should be something that takes almost no time at all. I just want to be able to pull out the pen and have immediate access to my panel of apps.
I've gone through the settings and can't find a way to disable this notification. I'm really not sure how they thought this notification was a good idea and not having an option to turn it off is just a poor choice. Has anyone found a way to disable it?

I agree this needs to be removed. Not really a fix, but to save some time, you don't actually have to press the little X. I found that tapping anywhere on the notification will dismiss it immediately. Hope that helps for now.

We're not talking about the Air Command menu. The problem is the notification that slides in from the edge screen (blocking its functionality) whenever the pen is removed. "S Pen has been detached."
Sorry.
I do remember seeing somewhere where you can turn it off but can't remember if I find it I'll post it.
I'm still looking for a fix for this. More specifically, the big pen splash I get whenever the S-Pen is attached. It just does it repeatedly with me barely moving.
Is there a way to view notifications on the edge screen alone? Currently if I wake the edge screen only I can see a notification that I have a text message or an email, however, if i click on it, the entire screen wakes up and I need to go into the actual app to see my messages. Is there a way to click on the text message icon and then have it scroll the new message alone the edge screen ticker-style?
It seems to defeat the purpose of having a standalone edge screen if i can only see that I have a message, but need to turn the phone on to read it.
I am just looking for similar functionality to the notification drop down where you can pull the window down see you have a text and it shows from who and the contents of the text. I checked through all of the options and don't think its available, but it seems like a no brainer for development.

That's definitely not a current feature. I wouldn't be surprised if someone added that in the future though. All I can say is Edge + root/xposed. Imagine the possibilities.

Any information you can provide me is appreciated as well! This is certainly a feature I'm interested in. I like what the edge screen has provided so far, but I can't help but think about the possibilities.
What is the correct way to wake just the edge screen?
I swipe up and down at the edge but it does not work all the time.

What notification app are you working on

Rub it like a genie lamp. Then make a wish lol.
But really rub it like a genie lamp and it will wake up.
I tried the slow just up and down but that didn't work. But when you rub it like that I haven't had any problems.
The development for this edge screen looks awesome. Can't wait to test it out.
I did notice one thing if you are looking to see your texts on the edge screen. If you wake the edge screen and don't scroll through other edge panels and leave it on the clock it will start to scroll ticker style with any notifications you have including missed text messages.
Is there a way to add more sports to the Yahoo Sports screen?
If anyone is having issues with the timeout of the notification panel, I might have a solution.
On my Exnyos model the notification panel timeout was perfect, as in it would stay on for as long as a notification was running until I recently installed some apk's from the American model (T-Mobile) in my case, it messed up the timeout of the notification panel, it would turn off before I could even read anything.
Last night I did a factory reset of my phone and reinstalled most Edge screen related apk's from Tmob rom again apart from one. It was the CatchMe apk. This apk has the settings for the notification panel. Now notifications timeout seems fine again.
I have attached it here for anyone wanting to give it a try. You don't need root or anything.
Obviously install at your own on risk.
Speaking of the Edge Panel notifications, is it my imagination or are there less notifications buttons in the notification panel customization screen.
Case in point...
Settings-->Notification panel
On the Note 4 (image on the left) compared to the Note Edge (image on the right)
About the same buttons.

But with the Note 4 you can scroll down and see way more buttons. On the note Edge there are no more buttons.

Yea same as the note 3. I believe the note edge slim down everything.
I went into the settings and there is alot more things you can turn on and off there.
So I bet they just did that to cut down on what is in the toggle window.
I know a guy rooted his note and added the extra toggles.
Imo it's find how it is, only the needed stuff is there and the rest is easy to find.
Good to know. Thanks
is there option any where you can have just the edge screen wake up and show notifications when you receive like gmail or a text message ?

It only shows a counter of missed messages. It will not scroll the messed messages.

agreed... working on a suite of apps over the next couple of months to fix the current useless edge screen.

I seem to recall the original ad/reveal photos making the edge panel look as if there was no distinction from main screen to edge. But in its oem configuration the background shading makes it distinctively separate. I have spent two weeks looking now and cant find a setting to adjust it. Does anyone know if there is a way to make the edge panel transparent to better blend in with the home screen and reduce or eliminate the background shading (at least on panels without a purposeful background, I get the notifications background is tied into the weather and others use color coded backgrounds on purpose)? Or am I the only one wanting the edge to more resemble the transparent look?
If not I would kindly request any developer monitoring this thread to consider that in any edge optimization apps they develop. And then I also +1 the other requests for both the "edge alert" scrolling notifications and sports ticker with more than three sport options!
I absolutely LOVE this phone but still kind of think for such a big leap in form that Samsung should have given the edge more punch in features.

Yea I hear you.
If you customize the express me it won't be transparent, but if you just do text it will be.
I don't think there is settings for it.
And yea it would make sense if the short cut panels has clear background vs the dark blue one. But I am willing to beat there will be more panels with transparent backgrounds in the furture. I belive it's just in the theming.

CNN just released a Breaking News ticker for the edge panel. Just FYI. Haven't tested it yet but thought I'd spread the word.
Hi,
I would like to make my phone's screen light up periodically when it's locked and I receive notifications.
My phone does not have a pulse notification LED and it does not have any other means of showing persistent alerts for notifications when the screen is locked.
I have sen many apps that replace the default lock screen and generally require a lot of permissions, change the lock screen design, wallpaper, unlocking method and mess up / complicate things unnecessarily in general.
What I had in mind is a very simple concept but I don't know if it exists or if it is possible, because it may consume too much battery or maybe Android just does not allow it.
I would like my regular lock screen (which already shows that I have notifications, by the way) to light up for ~1 second every ~1 minute when I have notifications. Ideally that would be customizable somewhere.
To save battery, if the front camera detects no light (i.e: the phone is in the pocket or turned down) then it would not light up the screen, assuming the camera does not consume more battery than this would.
Could someone help me find the closest thing to something like that?
Thanks.

Hello,
This forum is for newbies finding their way around XDA Developers, it isn't a general discussion section.

Would it be possible to change the time of how long the message shows and how much text it shows.
I think someone's rom will eventually have this option as I've looked and looked but could not find a way to make any of the light edge notifications last longer because I love the blue light that goes around every corner of that display
Yeah it seems like a bit of an oversight to not have included more options to tweak the edge lighting feature to your liking. Would be nice to see this get properly updated in the future.
On standard notification (edge lighting off) when my phone is asleep and I get a new message the notification light will blink until I open the phone and check the notifications. When I enable edge lighting for notifications, the edge will only light up once and that is it. So I only know about the notification if I am looking at my phone when it happens. Is there any way to get the edge lighting to repeat like the standard notification does?

From what I have experienced with the standard and good lock edge lighting, no they're isn't. It would be an awesome feature if they did enable "reminder" lighting. Addy least in good lock.

My phone does not blink notifications with edge lighting on or off. It was my understanding the blink function is gone, but I sure hope I'm wrong.
