[ZIP][Flashable][V6/V7][OPR4/OPP5][OCT] ANDROID OREO PIXEL / PIXEL 2 MOD - 5X

THIS IS A PIXEL/PIXEL 2 MOD FOR THE NEXUS 5X RUNNING ANDROID OREO 8.0 and 8.1 (OPR4 and OPP5)
I am VERY excited to introduce to you some new Pixel 2 features! This begins the era of Pixel 2 mods. While much work remains to be done on Android Oreo, even with features in the first Pixels, this is an exciting development. Check out those screenshots and make sure to check out the animated clock icon Here's my Pixel Mod/PIXEL 2 MOD built for Android Oreo! :highfive: The current status of this mod is still a work in progress. Currently I am in between 8.0 and 8.1 so please pay close attention to what you are downloading. As 8.1 is going to be the upcoming official release, much of my focus will be on that. Currently the mod for 8.1 (OPP5) has been released and includes new features such as new wallpapers, Google Lens, and Always On Display!
Important piece here. Anything flashed is flashed at your own risk. I have not and will not release anything that I have not flashed myself. The only exception to this is the Pixel Mod for the 5X being that I don't own a 5X. However, I only release that after testing the mod on the 6P and recreating, exactly, the mod for the 5X. Regardless, you should always backup before flashing anything. Better safe than sorry. Also, anything posted in these comments is not endorsed/approved by me. This is a community; users are free to post what they want. Often times, users are very supportive and helpful. I appreciate the community involvement 100%. However, I cannot test and allow everything else posted here. Users are free to post at will. Using any form of mod posted in comments is 100% at your risk too, and just like with my mod, users should backup first. That being said, community involvement pushes learning forward. Mods such as this progress as quickly as they do thanks to community involvement and testing. To everyone who has asked questions, tested, and contributed I give you a huge thanks. :good:
If you intend on using Substratum, don't flash this mod. I'm working on a simple work around for this.
So as always, make a backup before flashing. I do not have an uninstaller zip made. The best way to uninstall is to backup your system.img in TWRP and restore if to remove the mod.

Common Questions/Issues & Answers/Solutions
Tinted Nav Bar? Pixel Nav Bar Animation?
-Not yet, still roadblocked on that one. Not giving up though.
Pixel Launcher is crashing repeatedly after flashing this mod!
-Go into settings from your quick settings and grant Pixel Launcher notification access.
Not all icons are round?
The problem seems to be in the versions of those apps. Android Oreo (Official Version) seems to have less issues than the Previews had
Substratum?
-This mod may break Substratum. If you want to use Substratum don't flash this mod. If you have, then just reflash your system.img to return to stock. If you want substratum, go here https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/themes-apps/tutorial-android-oreo-pixel-mod-t3663727.
Notification Dots aren't working?!
-Make sure to enable the Notification Dots too. Go into the Pixel Launcher Settings (tap and hold like if you were adding a widget or changing a wallpaper). In the settings there is a category "Notification Dots". Even if it says "On" tap on it. Make sure "Allow Notification Dots" is on. Mine will do a little glitch like I repeatedly tapped it. I think it's just a bug in the Preview version of Pixel Launcher. But that should bring you the Dots if you don't have it.
Weather is not showing!
-Make sure to grant Pixel Launcher location access. Then give it some time. If you don't want to wait, swiping into Google Now and clicking on the weather seems to force refresh the weather widget on your homescreen.
No Option to Change Photo Upload Quality?
Unlimited Photo Storage was supported for a short amount of time before Google patched the mod. The current mod (OPR5_Pixel2_Mod--6p-V2 / 6th Edition) returned the ability to select photo upload quality. However, clearing data for the Photos app may be necessary. Just wipe data from settings for the app
6th Edition / 7th Edition
-TO-DO LIST--Always On Display
-Navigation Bar Animation
-Substratum Compatibility
-Original Accent Color Mod (Should help with Substratum Compatibility)
-Lowered DPI Navigation Bar Mod
-Black Android Oreo Boot Animation (Currently using stock Android Oreo Boot Animation)
-Integration Boot Sound (Have to find out where it moved to. Sound isn't in the same spot as it was in Nougat)
-Converting to Aroma Installer for Customized Features
-Possibly developing app to better integrate Pixel Mods with Android Oreo's native theme support
-The Pixels (Pixel & Pixel XL) themselves actually use (in a sense) a Pixel Mod. As of Android O (beginning in the previews) the Pixels have basically the exact same setup as the 6P and 5X. However, in the vendor partition they have a Pixel Theme (called Pixel.apk). This actually visible in the apps list. If you have a Pixel on Android Oreo. Go to your installed apps and view system apps. Look for Pixel.apk. That is the pixel theme, much like Substratum Themes. Now the Pixels basically use an overlay (using Android Oreo's native theme support). The 6P has the exact same compatibility. However, installation is a bit complicated. If I or someone else could develop an app to place the files+folders in the Vendor folder and run the ADB commands, it would make Pixel Mod's much less complicated and allow complete substratum compatibility.

Perhaps I answered my own question. I "dirty flashed" 'OCT_OPR4_Pixel_Mod_5X' over
an 'Android+OPR6+Pixel+Mod+5X' installation on my N5X without flashing the 'system.img' to clear out the older version of the mod..
The mod appears to work fine, just as before on the prior version of the mod. In the launcher setting under About, the version remains 'OMR1-4113793'. Is this the correct version?

Yes, and it'll work just fine. The thing that breaks Substratum is the Framework-res.apk

I'd just remove the framework-res.apk. That'll be a quick solution. Everything else holds the wallpapers app, nav bar buttons, your boot animation, and Pixel audio mod.
Removing the framework will remove the Pixel Blue Accent, Night mode, and Round icons. Although in the Pixel Launcher settings you can enable the round Icon shape to have these. The flaw with that is your icons won't be found in everything such as your recents. They'll just be round in the launcher
Pixel launcher 2 is here!
Just install APK as update to this pixel mod

Just pushed an update and tested on my 6P. Planning on bringing everything over for the 5X within 24 hours. It's 3:30AM, my time so sleep is the plan now. I want to bring Unlimited Photos ASAP to this thread. I have it working on the 6P, or so it appears. Photos uploaded on a Pixel don't count against your storage. If logic works then if you get a bunch of photos backed up and Google patches the Unlimited Photos mod, the photos that were already backed up shouldn't count against storage limits, so I'm going to bring that ASAP
Anyone else noticed the animated clock icon? Just thought I'd point that out because no one's talking about it :victory:

[GUIDE] [ROOT] Stock Android Look for Samsung Experience (TW) ROMs on S7 Flat/Edge

There's always the argument "If you wanted stock Android, why didn't you get yourself a Pixel or another device running stock Android?" We won't go in there. Everyone has a reason.
I'm going to show you how you can make your Samsung Experience ROM look and work like as close to stock Android as possible, without having to flash a broken AOSP ROM. With all due respect to the Developers, let's face it. None of the AOSP ROM's are daily driver material IMHO. You may disagree and that is totally fine.
For this, we're going to need a few apps:
- Magisk
- Google Framework Magisk Module
- Ruthless Pixel Launcher
- Material Notification Shade
- Google Dialer App
- Google Contacts App
- Pixel IP (Icon Pack)
- Pixel Live Wallpaper XDA Thread (Optional)
These are the essential apps. If you want, you can replace most Samsung Apps with Google Apps. This could include the Calendar App, Clock App and many other Apps Samsung feels the need to duplicate.
1. Root your device with Magisk. This'll install Magisk Manager on your device. There are countless guides on how to do this.
2. Open Magisk Manager, and from the Sidebar, got to Downloads. Here, search for and install the Google Framework Magisk Module.
3. Reboot after the module is installed.
4. Clear cache and data of your Play Store. Alternatively, wait a couple minutes to hours.
5. Now, practically all Google Apps will now be shown as compatible with your Samsung S7 Flat/Edge. But be careful. There are reasons why some apps are not compatible.
6. Search for and install the Google Dialer and Contacts app.
7. Go to Setting>Apps>3 Dot Menu> and set Google Dialer as your default contacts and phone app.
8. Search and install Material Notification Shade. Optionally buy the pro version via IAP.
9. Go to Settings>Themes And Wallpapers.
10. Search, install and apply "Pixel" Theme by "MINU".
11. Install Ruthless Pixel Launcher.
This should do it now. I hope you're gonna enjoy it as much as I do.

[ROOT][APP][9.0+] Android 10 Launcher (+ gestures, feed)

Android 10 Launcher for Android 9.0+
Google has made an interesting change on Pie release: moving the recents app screen, along with the (was new) swipe up gesture to the stock launcher. Following that change, the Lawnchair team has released the QuickSwitch Magisk Module which allows you to change the "stock" launcher to a supported one that you prefer.
So let's get to the point. A week ago Google has released Android 10 along with its new, improved gesture navigation. It's much better than the gestures on Android Pie. Today, I'm happy to announce that you can get the new gesture navigation on Android Pie too with this port and the QuickSwitch Magisk Module.
Features
Video preview
- Clean stock Launcher3 base
- Android Q gesture navigation
- Swipe down for notification drawer
- Dark theme
- Google Feed (dark theme now included), YAY!
- Simple icon packs support (no dynamic icons/icon masking)
Installation
1. Install the QuickSwitch Magisk Module
2. Download and install the Launcher APK
3. Open the QuickSwitch app, select the launcher and reboot
4. Set it as the default launcher
5. Open home settings, select "Developer options" and then enable gestures in there
Download
Unified build
- View attachment Q_Launcher3-v1.3-debug.apk
- View attachment Q_Launcher3-v1.2-debug.apk
For Android Pie
- View attachment Q_Launcher3-Pie-v1.1-debug.apk
- View attachment Q_Launcher3-Pie-debug.apk
For Android 10
- View attachment Q_Launcher3-10-v1.1-debug.apk

Notes:
- This launcher requires the QuickSwitch Magisk Module to function properly. It should work as a normal launcher alone but that's untested.
- Unfortunately, the back gesture is a part os SystemUI and can't be achieved in this port, but you can use apps such as Fluid NG to replicate it.

Thank you, really nice!
It's not working for me. I've done all the steps. The name of the launcher linked here is "Quickstep" in my default apps settings. And choosing that makes it so I can't even close any app, it just reopens the app immediately. (like there is no home screen).
And I guess you don't mean the lawnchair settings? I thought that at first but there is no gestures option in the developer settings in lawnchair (latest beta).
Working great in Havoc 2.8 This should be your new grand project. I'm using lawnchair 2 and that's awesome.
Works flawlessly on my Xperia Z3 Carbon 7.0 Pie.
It would be nice with a dark background option.
Nice work, mate.
Would be great if you add this in lawnchair

Although untested, it should work as this launcher is the same one that stock Android 10 provides with only a few changes. Just make sure you download the one for Android 10 and it should be fine.

Does the Pixel launcher from Android 10 come with new gesture animations, and are you planning to port it?
Also, for the people who have been using this launcher, what is your method of replicating Android 10's Navigation bar? I've tried Fluid NG and the Home button doesn't seem to work when Navigation bar is hidden. I'm on Xperia X running Lineage OS 16 (9.0).

Yeah, as I said, when I choose it as my launcher, it doesn't work at all. The phone behaves like there's no homescreen. When I try to exit settings, or any app at all, it just reopens that app immediately. It closes the app, shows an empty wallpaper and then opens the app within 1/10 of a second.

This is so good. The animations are smooth and work as intended.
I'd be great if google now page can be added to the left.
And also, the bottom google search bar is also missing. Hope that gets added too!
Overall first impressions, a fantastic port!!

Unrooted devices have no means to change Android's quickstep provider, which means you are stuck with default recents provider and navigation gestures.
Which, you know, defeats the purpose.
When I try to select is as the quickstep provider on OOS OB1 Q then I get an error message "Error: Boot script failled"

[Solved] [Guide] Pixel launcher app suggestions gone missing

Im running the latest pixel launcher with QuickSwitch. Over night, all the functionality relating to app suggestions disappeared from my phone. This includes the row in the drawer, recent apps and google search using the widget. I suspect this was server side as non of the google services were updated overnight. The app suggestions toggle is also missing from the "Home settings" menu. App suggestions is one of my most used features and I would appreciate if some you guide me in the right direction to get them back.
Sidenote: The suggestions option in lawnchair q beta/leak crashes the app (not sure if related).
What I have tried:
Clearing data/cache for all google related apps.
Downgrading to an older version of google/pixel launcher app.
Modifying build.prop to appear as pixel 3
Pulling pixel launcher apk from a pixel 2 with working suggestions
Trying the same setup on a s10 (also missing suggestions)
Device: OnePlus 7 Pro
Oxygen OS 10.0.1
Google 10.82.8.21
QuickSwitch 2.1

Question MIUI dialer and contacts for Mi 12

Hello; This is my fisrt experience with Mi 12 as I moved from Redmi 4 prime (what a jump ), but I noticed that xiaomi has integrated the Google phone dialer instead of MiUi dialer which used to be much better in my older phone.
After reading about that I knew that Xiaomi wants to agree with google about their ploicy not to use manufacturer dialer apps, but I heared that we can flash the dialer and the contacts like what we do with Gapps, is that trure? or the only solution would be the "Indonesian ROM"?
Thanks for help with that

These roms are custom roms, for your device based on chinese roms.
Two roms: Stable and Weekly, the latter receiving the latest features and updated once a week.
You will need to unlock the bootloader to install them, the warranty still works.
Normally the warranty stops if you install a custom rom.
In the event of a brick at the software level, you can always recover the phone and in the event of a brick at the hardware level with a custom rom, many have reported that Xiaomi had carried out the repairs without problems.
These roms have playstore certified with many modifications and options.(currently Miui 14 A13).
If you have a Chinese version, you cannot lock the bootloader on another version of rom, you will have to root the phone and use Magisk to have the play store certified.
