Hi
Got a U11 mid 2PZC30000. Cid HTC__622 which I think is Asia dual sim model.
If I change cid to HTC__001 or super cid, can I install the new Android 9 update. The android-info.txt in the zip file show model 2PZC30000 and has cid's htc__001,M27,A07,034,J15
I'm in UK but bought the device from ebay(asia direct sales) but has the same model id
Don't want to brick my phone lol
Thanks
Never mind. I've done it. Made phone into Europe version and installed Europe Android. Now updated to Android 9

Hey there! I'm also UK, bought a grey import and ended up with htc__060 - Indian version, dual sim. How easy was it to change the cid? Ta!

You need to unlock bootliader, install twrp recovery(do not make system writable in twrp) and flash supersu.
Just use the tutorial for the cid change without soff.
The first part of tutorial clearing software version didn't work.
Pull the sha1 partition and edit with hex editor and send back to phone. Edit to HTC__001
Then I used the HTC tool to change the software version to 1.00.00.0
Last of all I flashed back the original recovery for Android 8 on my old cid HTC__622
Then I could install the Europe Android 8 from sdcard. When booted the phone up, it seen the new Android 9 update and update it all no problem
To update from scarf, rename the download zip to 2PZCIMG.Zip and boot to download mode. Phone will see the update firmware and prompt you to flash it.
Hope it helps pal

Guys
Thought Id start a thread on the newest update I received this morning. Android version 2.3.5
So far I have noticed the following changes
- Time, carrier and date bigger and bolder on lockscreen
- New version of android market
- Bad Spelling underlined in text messages in red (but not auto changed)
- More transparent app and personalize buttons on homescreen
Changes I hope have been improved (but am testing)
- hoping the dialer draining battery issue is resolved (gonna take a day for me to monitor this
- stop cursor jumping to top of sms threads (intermittent for me so hard to be sure
There are probably some more system changes etc - but cant seem to find any official release document

1.54 on mine also, starting today.
Let the trials begin and come back in a day or so with details.

What's your CID? My Chacha with CID VODAP001 running the same software doesn't see any updates due to the Vodafone CID it still has.
As other people, I didn't get the OTA at the moment. I really hope that SMS bug will be fixed !

When i use CID Getter from the Market i get the CID (ro.cid) O2___102 (o2 DE)
edit: ChaCha is unrooted and has s-on ... but i made a goldcard and installed RUU 1.33 over the o2-branded-system (OOTB Software 1.19.206.1 / Android 2.3.3)
When i get s-off/root and SuperCID 11111111 can i update the Software OTA from 1.33.401.1 to 1.54.401.2 or to i have to use CWM ?

That'll be why you can't see any OTAs from 1.33 - I believe you'd need any of HTC's generic CIDs (HTC__001 for the UK, for example) or SuperCID - I downloaded the OTA .zip and had a look at the updater-script, it checks for the following CIDs:
00000000, 11111111, 22222222, 33333333, 44444444, 55555555, 66666666, 77777777, 88888888, 99999999, HTC__001, HTC__E11, HTC__102, HTC__203, HTC__405, HTC__Y13, HTC__032, HTC__016, HTC__N34.
So for OTA updates from HTC Generic softwares, you'd need one of them CIDs - most people would recommend HTC__001 or 11111111 - I'd personally recommend 11111111 as it'll let you flash anything.

Yes, you would be able to OTA to 1.54.401.2 after you S-OFF/SuperCID, but you'll need to use the stock HTC recovery for it to apply. I've read that CWM Recovery errors out when trying to apply an OTA .zip
I got the notification, mine is UK version,
can I download and install OTA even if my chacha is rooted already?
cheers

thank you for this informations.
i am at Stock 1.33 EU (RUU) at the moment, so i understood, that i can just update the 1.54 via update.zip in the bootloader/recovery after s-off/supercid?
just a quickie - when i installed the update I lost no data at all - after the install and reboot my homescreen returned as it was before the update
Well, it's an update. Not a new rom It's supposed to keep your data
Anyways, for everyone out there using carrier custom roms (these also have special CIDs like O2_xx, VODA_XX and so on) you need to understand that after a rom is released by HTC, the carrier must then take the rom, apply it's bloatware and then release it for update. So that's why basically non-branded phones usually get OTA's way faster than the branded ones. This is generally available for any phone. Hope this clarifies things a bit.
I can confirm dialer issue still remains (i suspected this as it is a gingerbread issue)
Updated yesterday and performed a data reset. Memory management appears much better. Phone had over 100mb free on data reset.
Hi all,
I got a carrier-free Chacha at MediaMarkt (Spain), it's on software version 1.22.412.2 and has CID HTC__304, however when I check on updated it keeps saying it's up to date and no updates available.
The phone is, unfortunately, s-on. Could this be affecting me? Or maybe it's because of the CID? In Europe everyone is getting 1.54 but me? Sounds weird...
Thank you for your help.
Most of us have already S-OFF'ed their devices and we are using leaked versions. You'll have to wait for the official update to your phone. Or you can simply S-OFF and install a custom ROM if you want.
Thanks for the info. I wrote to HTC Spain Customers' Support and they told me to put my ohone date on next year for a couple of days and the 2.3.5 update should appear (either this way or in secure mode).
I'm waiting until tomorrow ans I'll let you know... Thanks!
hmm, i think you or them had confused two different things:
Android version: which now is 2.3.5
with
Software number: which i personally have 1.52
I think you told them you have 1.22 and they understood that you have Android version 1.22, instead of 2.3.5
Correct me if i'm wrong!
Hi,
I'm in the UK and I bought my Sensation XE from Hong Kong and use it with a T-mobile sim.
The mobile seems to think it's Indian and I would like to change it to a UK or euro setup.
At present it has HBOOT 1.18 and has CID HTC__038 with ro.carrier HTC-India. Software number is 1.77.720.103.
I had to use locale app to change it from india to UK so that I could have a UK keyboard/dictionary and also receive UK news in the news app.
Now it's coming up to release time for ICS and I would like to make my phone so that it receives the UK version.
Is it possible to flash my phone with the most recent Euro RUU to do this? If I do will I still need to change the CID to HTC__001 and will the RUU change all the bits relating to India that show up when you run the CID Getter app?
I've tried running the RUU > "RUU_PYRAMID_LE_HTC_Europe_1.73.401.4_Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_220036_signed" and it looks as though it will change my software version to a version lower than it is currently on. From what I have read on the thread > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193033&page=2 about "How to debrand...." I was under the impression I might need to use revolutionary to get S-OFF, change my CID to HTC__001 or HTC11111 run the RUU then put S-ON again or leave it off.
All just a little confused as to what's best to do.
Sorry for the long post with multiple questions.
I updated the Mrs Desire to Runnymede AIO without too much headache the other day so thought I'd look into sorting out my XE.
Cheers
Finally got there by myself.
Had to HTC Dev unlock bootloader. Flash recovery with 4EXT recovery. Use 4EXT recovery to flash an old ROM with HBOOT 1.17. Use Revolutionary to get S-OFF. Use RUU for most recent Euro GB ROM.
No have S-OFF, Unlocked bootloader, 1.18 HBOOT, Stock HTC european ROM. CID HTC__001.
Still no ICS update available when checking updates though
I am having some troubles with finding the proper RUU for my phone.
I have a dutch vodafone branded phone which I rooted and flashed with CWM. I am still on 1.53 and i want to upgrade to 1.78 because of the home-screen button bug. I hope the OTA update fixes it.
In order to update my phone, I need to revert to stock and therefore I need the original shipped RUU .
Can i use the "RUU_Ville_U_Vodafone_UK_1.78.161.2_Radio_0.16.31501S.17_2_10.23.31501S.10L_release_258386_signed" ? I know this is UK version but there seems to be no NL version and my phones also downloads OTA_VIlle_U_Vodafone_UK_1.78 itself. So I figured i could also use the UK RUU. Is this correct?
Thank you in advance.
Anybody who knows the answer?

Well you should probably Run the RUU.exe without connecting the phone. When it runs, it places a "firmware.zip" in a temporary folder (please search for the exact location of the temporary folder as I don't exactly remember it). Open the firmware.zip file to view its contents. It should have a "android-info.txt". Open it and you'll see the supported CID. If it matches with your phone CID, you're good to go.
To get your phone CID, use CID GETTER from store. It shows CID in red at the top of the app.

Thank you. I read about that but I couldn't find the firmware.zip. I took a guess and it turned out that the RUU is correct. So for other dutch users on this forum: I can confirm that 1.78 UK Vodafone RUU works on dutch vodafone branded phones.
I have been doing a lot of reading up on changing the branding/region of the U11 and think I have the steps worked out. Would just like
someone who has done this to comment on if it seems right to them.
So Going from DUGL India to DUGL EMEA I would
1. Install sunshine for s-off so I can change the CID, current MID is the same as EMEA.
2. Change CID from download mode, fastboot oem writecid HTC__034
3. Download and install EMEA ruu
Thanks, MadMungo
Well I had time to give it a go and was successful. I am now on the (HTC__001) EMEA dual sim firmware from the (HTC__060) Indian dual sim firmware.
If anyone else wants to give it a go it was real simple, I just followed the following steps
1. Install sunshine for s-off to change the CID.
1a. Download EMEA RUU and copy to root of SD card and rename to 2PZCIMG.zip
2. run Sunshine to boot into s-off download mode,
2a. Change CID by running fastboot oem writecid HTC__001 on PC
2b. press Volume Down button to cancel RUU update and check CID = HTC__001
3. select reboot to Download Mode
3a. press Volume Up button to confirm flash of RUU
4. Once phone has been rebooted enjoy setting up new phone on EMEA firmware.
hope this helps someone else out there.

Hey, I am in Australia and bought the phone from overseas vendor as it was cheaper and I needed a dual sim phone so I didn't have to carry 2 phones around. I now have a different job and don't have a need for dual sims I was wondering if it is possible to set the phone up as a single sim by changing the CID to one of either HTC__001 Prefered, (HTC__M27, HTC__002, HTC__034 Optional) and the MID to 2PZC10000.

Hey,
Thanks for the help and the guide. I was trying to do exactly the same thing.
I got stuck at the final stage. I was trying to SD card flash one of the combined nowipe firmware zips (https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=817906626617943112) and I get an error 10 when flashing, which makes no sense because the MID on my phone and in the zip are both correct. CID changed successfully and checked. S-OFF all ok and booted using sunshine before trying to flash the firmware.
any ideas? perhaps I am trying to flash the wrong thing and I have to do a full RUU flash somehow? Trying to avoid this because running leedroid rom and am lazy to setup again.
thanks for any ideas, Russ

Russ,
Sorry to here you are having troubles. I am just a user, no technical knowledge but will try to help.
As far as I can tell from reading various posts on this, you will need to flash to the latest stock RUU, https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120762674 . Then you can flash the OTA http://fotadl-az.htc.com/secure/OTA_OCEAN_DUGL_N71_SENSE90GP_HTC_Europe_1.27.401.11-1.27.401.5_release_512994zou8hacebhmotmqg.zip using the original stock recovery, no need to be S-OFF for OTA flash.
Unfortunately you will then need to start with leedroid rom all over again.
Maybe one of the more technical guys could help you if you ask in the Firmware collection How-To Thread
thought that might be the case, thanks for the reply, much obliged.
HTC U11 India Oreo update:

Can we try something similar with the HTC TW ROM. I am guess its CID is 80.
I am guessing that the TW ROMs would receive updates from HTC before other regions.
Any inputs will be appreciated
Thank you!

Unlock bootloader via htc dev website.
Flash twrp.
Flash magisk
Buy s-off for $25 via sunshine.
Change cid to BS_001
Flash 1.xx.617.xx firmware (same version as you already have running on the phone but 617 region).
Update to oreo via ota.
Job done.
You will need the htc_fastboot.exe that is specifically made by htc for flashing. You can find it all over the m9 forums or on Google.
Thanks

Well, there's an OTA Update that will take you straight to Oreo from the version you're currently on. No need to unlock bootloader or anything else. It's there in this thread
You wouldn't lose any data either, but just take a backup nonetheless.

Is there any particular reason why you wanted to (and subsequently) move(d) from Indian region to EMEA (I am guessing 1 reason to be quicker OTA updates). As far as I know, the Indian ROM doesn't have any bloatware.
That said, if there are any advantages (in terms of performance/battery life/etc) do let us know and I will move too. he he!
SKU 401 is already an EMEA device. He seems to try to change to US Unlocked unless I don't know for what that might be good. In addition this will probably keep to problems on further updates, as he can't change the confirmation of the variant from DUGL to WHL as this won't be altered by S-OFF or any step that could and might be taken.
I'd stay on Indian version 1.27.401.11 and await the upcoming Oreo update.
Sent from my HTC U11 using XDA Labs
Thanks all, but I guess will just wait for the Oreo update for the HTC U11 EMEA from nougat 1.27.401.11 coz I don't seem to find it on the links posted earlier. I don't understand y HTC doesn't just post the RUUs for each CID so that we can do it ourselves coz it seems not to be able to keep up with either the demand or it's own promises
I noticed that HTC always updates their Taiwan model of their phones first. I decided to unlock my bootloader and S-off to change my CID to the Taiwan version. Sadly it keeps saying invalid CID. The CID is the only thing that needs to be changed, since the MID is the same anyways (both are 2PZC300000). After doing some research the CID seems to be: HTC_621 and STOCK EMEA: HTC_034. How come changing the CID gives me an error? Has anyone else actually even tried this? Or was this never possible to begin with? Is this maybe blocked by HTC? I rememeber Changing CID and MID on my One M9 really easily. I was able to install the US unlocked RUU. The reason I'm specifically choosing Taiwan RUU is because of the dual sim functionality. I'm afraid the US unlocked won't even work since that one is single sim and I don't really want to risk it.
EDIT: Typo in the title. It should be: DUGL Taiwan. The: H was a mistake.
EDIT: I was able to change the CID. I made a dumb mistake by not reading that you need to use two underscors. Like this: HTC__621. Instead of HTC_621. All I need to do now is flash Taiwan RUU and see what happens.
EDIT: succesfully flashed and updated to the latest version on Taiwan firmware
