I've hardbricked my mt6737 - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I decided to flash an another rom to my mt6737 (Wieppo s8 clone) and I got a pmt error in sp flash tool. Until this, my phone was working well and when I looked for a way to fix that pmt error in flashing on sp flash tool, my phone just D I E D in my hands when I applied this "fix".
(no more life signs: no charging animation, no bootanimation, nothing except a black screen).
To be more specific : I was looking to install twrp with a rom that is incompatible with my phone (it was too late when I knew it) and I had the error "pmt changed for the rom it must be downloaded please select format all+download scene and try again" so I went to the "format" tab and I chose the option "format whole flash except bootloader" and from there, my phone died
After this, I found an another rom with the same chip and alléuia, when I flash it, it says "Download Ok" with the green thing and the yellow bar. My phone just vibrate now but still dead, when I push the power button, vibrations only happens but nothing more, just a black screen. What can I do now ?,
PS : my phone is a ECHO HORIZON Lite +

help pls

Most MTK devices can be unbricked using a "test point" method that involves opening the device and using a jumper to short certain pins to force the device into a state that can be used to recover/flash the device to unbrick it.
See if you can any information about this in regard to your specific model number.

The device was assembled, it can be disassembled. Find a breakdown video of your specific model number on YouTube. It has to be made in such a way that it can be disassembled to make repairs to the hardware. I didn't say that getting the device open would be easy.

Try booting to recovery mode and factory reset and wipe cache. You probably have user data still on the device that is conflicting with the new system.

Using fastboot or SPFT, whichever you can get working on your device.

Take it as a learning lesson and don't make the same mistakes twice. Don't just assume that you can flash or modify your device without issues and don't assume that something that worked on another device with the same device name will work on yours, plenty of devices have the same device name but have different model numbers, the model number is what matters, not the device name.
Always use your specific device's model number in your searches to find what you can and can not do to your device, find what is safe and what isn't, find what has been confirmed to work on your specific model number. Also remember that your android version or specific stock firmware build number can change whether or not what you find will work on your device. For example, just because you find instructions for modifying a device that has the same model number as yours, does not mean those instructions will work for you if your device's android version or stock firmware build number is different than the android version or build number than what is in the instructions that you find.
Don't just research what "can" be done on your device, also research what you "shouldn't" do, do research to find out what can go wrong and how others have screwed their devices up when trying to modify their device and what they had to do to fix it. This will help you avoid the issues they had or will help you fix it if you have the same issue they had.
Your first mistake was assuming that you could just modify your device without issues. Your next mistake was not researching to see what could possibly go wrong in the process.

Yeah I learned my lesson, I will never try to mod my phone again, thank you for this reminder.
If we fix my phone, then I won't do it again.
So please help as much you can, thank you.

[Q] HELP : Phone stuck while flashing via Odin

Hi ,
My phone got stuck/frozen while browsing and no button was responding. I removed the battery and reboot it only to have it stuck at boot screen.
It shows the first screen with model number then as it moves to Samsung boot screen animation it freezes. I used Odin to Flash the ROM.
I tried with these ROMS

and

but the process stops with the following message:
Code:

successfully applied multi-CSC.
When I reboot again(by removing battery) it stops at the same screen with following message on top

Kindly share your thoughts on how can I fix now.. Any help greatly appreciated.

P.S I already flashed via odin from Indian stock rom to XXKJ version mentioned above few months back.
Are you sure you followed this guide properly and did not check on CSC instead of PDA?
about the screen you mentioned is of recovery mode. try entering into download mode and repeat the whole proccess properly (Guide)
yesterday only i flashed this Rom via odin.(although it stuck in between at first trial but succeeded when i tried again) you could give it a try.
if you stuck at samsung logo after flashing follow these steps.

Yes, I did use the guide properly and check on PDA then loaded the md5 file. I will try with the ROM you mentioned. I hope I won't loose any data as I could not create any backup. Also, is my post in the right section or has to be moved to developer section to get more responses..

Yes it is in right section.
you will loose all data (messages, contacts, apps, etc) you wont loose sdcard data (songs, videos, etc).
keep practice of posting screenshot if you face any error. this makes it easy to understand about the error.

But the last time I flashed to GB only, I did not loose any data(contacts, apps, etc). Will flashing to ICS will delete everything? Also I was planning to stick to GB only. And what does the error "Cant access to '/system/csc/INU/system/'." means? Can't I fix the phone by trying to resolve the particular error rather than trying ICS directly ? Guys who faced this type of error please comment your suggestions.
Thanks.
Thanks for your replies and comments.
I have tried both GB and ICS Indian ROMs.
With GB ROM, although I did not get the "can't find the file /system/csc/INU...." but the phone is stuck again after showing "successfully applied multi CSC". The process doesn't go any further with a kind of disabled progress bar under it.
With ICS ROM, I don't notice any such messages but I see a droid with a crystal which stops animating after some time. There was no progress for half an hour after which I removed the battery.
Is my phone having any serious issue. How do I proceed now ??

When I flashed indian ICS the log was as shown in 'Message' box in SS
i have never faced any thing like CSC in log which you are facing. If you are using any odin version other than 1.85 then try 1.85. Also compare the screenshot process with yours.
If you still dont get success then i think you should visit Samsung Service Centre. they will only guide you properly.

Thanks for your reply Nikhil. I am using odin3 v1.85. I just tried to flash with ICS ROM and attached are the screenshots, if you can notice anything going wrong while flashing. Also after the success message the phone rebooted and after two black screens the android animation stops. There was a progress bar indicator initially, which disappeared when screen went black 1st time.
Go to recovery mode and do a factory reset.

Exactly so you can see now there isnt any CSC in logs guess u were doing something wrong!
anyways, now download tar file from here and flash cwm recovery v4.0.0.2 or any other recovery through odin. then perform factory reset. it will boot properly then.
Note:- performing direct factory reset is bit risky. Read what Adam77Root and Disturbed said

Dude,
I was talking about the log on my phone screen. I am attaching the error displayed on my mobile when flashing non Indian ROM's. Before I do any factory reset I would like you all to have a look at the error where the flashing process is hanging.
Update: The second screenshot is the complete process while flashing in odin3. It hangs at this point after showing msg "successfully applied multi-CSC". The difference is if Indian ROM is used, the error "cannot find /system/CSC.." is skipped. In any case the flashing doesn't proceed from this point. If I reboot by removing the battery, the activity is shown in first screen shot. As ICS ROM flashing doesn't show any text msg of what process is going on in phone I have used GB ROM to display the message.
I highly appreciate your comments and need your suggestions as to which way to proceed.
If you got the first screenshot.just do a factory reset as it appears in the screen you have given in the first screen shot.NOTE:try a factory reset in the stock recovery donot flash CWM. It worked for me.

[Q] lost recovery screen

Basically, i was in the process of rooting the device. I have 4.0.4. So, I am able to run Odin, with it showing "success" on the screen. I unchecked auto reboot. So, I unplugged the USB, and when I try to reboot into recovery, I get nothing, just a black screen. The samsung logo screen will come on and then go away. I hold volume down and power button, and then let go of power button. Prior to running Odin, I was able to see the stock recovery screen. But now, I can't get to any recovery screen. But the phone will boot up no problem, and I can get to the download screen no problem as well. I am not sure what to do next. Can anyone help me or does anyone have any ideas what I may be doing wrong? Thank you.

brother try flashing cwm again
also there are many other recoveries you can try them if available
also there are many backup apps [although i cant remember} which have feature of booting into recovery so find and try them
good luck:good::good:
I tried flashing through Odin about 5 times. It says 5. For custom binary downloads... but when I reboot, I just cant get it into recovery. After flashing through odin, and odin says complete, I unplug tablet and try to reboot into recovery, and I get nothing. It almost seems like its going to work but it doesnt. Also, I cant even update the system upgrade.... im guessing since I cant get to recovery screen, neither can the devixe when it tried to update. I'm lost at what to tey next....
Are you positive you flashed a recovery that is designed for your Tab?
Oh nice idea... I used the files in the how to post in the dev section. But I couldnt. Find the 4.93 tar file so I downloaded it somewhere else. It may have been bad I guess? Like I said, everything worked until I had to reboot to recovery. Does anybody have the. Philz touch4.93 tar file? Thank youguys for your help. I appreciate it so much. None of my friends are into this stuff, so you guys are all I got. Lol.
I tried starting over from the beginning of the steps but nothing works. I just get the same result. Does anybody have any ideas of what I am doing wrong or any suggestions? Thank you for your help in advance.

So you got two problems.
One is the los of your recovery en two is the root.
I alway's use the cwm recovery.
and for root is use CF-Auto-Root-espresso
Btw what tab are you on, P5100 P5110 or ??????

Did you check the MD5 hash for your CWM zip? If it is incomplete it doesn't stand much of a chance at working. On Windows I use winmd5free, and on the tablet I use MD5 Hash (Free, No Ads) from the Google Playstore to verify the MD5 of anything I download before flashing it.
Personally I've used the unofficial TeamWin Recovery 2.6.3.0 zip (TWRP) on my P5113 to install CM 10.2 from the Nightly builds.
Also, verify your device is really rooted. I used RootValidator, again from the Google Playstore, to check after rooting my Tab the first time.
Okay I will try checking md5. Thank you so much. Also, I have sgh i497.... how do I know 5110 vs 5100?

Goto Settings, About tablet (scroll down to the bottom of the settings to find it).
Check out focussoft's directions on how he rooted his sgh-i497. Note he refers to an older version of TWRP Recovery in his instructions.
I used this to root my P5113.
It is easy to confuse the volume rocker switch directions. Remember that the side next to the power button is Volume Down!
P5100 is the one with a simcard ( 3g/phone )
P5110 is the wifi only tablet
P5113 is wifi and Infrared
Okay, I have 3g and wifi on here so I have 5100.

Make sure you have root.
Look up mobile Odin. The lite version is free but make sure you grab the correct kernel flash file for your tablet.
Download the latest cwm/philz/twrp of your choice for your device and use mobile Odin app to flash recovery.
I've occasionally had issues getting into recovery on my 3113 and found that powering off, plugging it in until the battery icon shows then holding power and volume up and quickly unplugging the cable seems to help. Continue holding volume up for about 5 seconds after the black screen shows and it goes into recovery 99% of the time.
I should note that I only have that issue if I flash incompatible rom and kernel combos or wipe my system and accidentally turn the tab off in recovery mode.

I should have been clearer. The file I specified is for Mobile Odin.

Here's the thread. I'll edit this post in a second with the right recovery.
If you flashed a bad kernel you wouldn't be able to boot past the Samsung screen at all, except to get into download mode. If you can boot to the rom, it's not the wrong kernel. Likely just the wrong recovery or a corrupted recovery download.
Brb, hold tight.
Oh boy... we have a big problem...
I just rececked your model number from your signature....
YOU DO NOT HAVE A 51XX TABLET. DO NOT FLASH 51XX FILES.
What you have is the AT&T 4g model.
Flashing files for any other model can potentially permanent brick your device as all the hardware is completely different.
Let me get back to you again and see if I can find a real recovery option for you.
Ok, here is a good recovery for you. Try this and get back to me.

[Q] Trouble Unbricking

Hey all,
Recently took advantage of Google's 1 time replacement policy as my phone is completely shattered. Received the new one in the mail the next day, installed everything and transferred my data, then went to set the old one up to send it back. I decided to unroot and relock the bootloader, then I went to wipe data via TWRP (why I didn't flash stock recovery before wiping I don't know...) Unfortunately, I was rushing and managed to stupidly hit wipe everything, and I have no OS. The phone is soft bricked. Normally this wouldn't be too much of a challenge, but my phone also refuses to be recognized by my computer (Windows 7). The new one installs drivers and pops up perfectly, but the old one doesn't show up while in bootloader or recovery. When I try to run fastboot commands, any application I try says "Waiting for Device" (including the Kwongger toolkit unbricking setup).
Short explanation: I managed to idiotically wipe the OS, now my computer won't recognize it while it's in TWRP or bootloader.
Anybody have advice on how to fix this and flash a stock image? Should I risk sending it to Google like this?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
If you're worried about it, flash the factory image in fastboot. But I wouldn't worry too much. Google's pretty cool about flashing stuff to your phone.

How would I go about getting the file onto the phone (my stock backup disappeared from TWRP, forgot to mention that in the OP) if I can't connect to my computer?
Thanks for the reassurance - if I can't get it working by tomorrow I think I'll probably just send it in and see what happens.

Thanks for the advice - I tried it, but the phone doesn't enter download mode. It just enters the powered off but charging state (where the charging battery symbol flashes on the screen).
Additionally, when I launch the FlashTool, it says "LG USB/Parallel lock key is not detected" then sends me to a login screen (it appears this person had the same issue, but solved it without posting how to solve it). Any ideas?

There is a megalock dll in the crack folder. Replace the original dll with the one from the crack folder.
I wouldn't worry about flashing back to stock. Like said before, Google doesn't really care about what firmware you're running. You're not going to run into any problems if you send the phone back in its current state.

That fixed the issue with flashtool, but unfortunately something on my phone must be busted; it won't go into download mode. I tried my new one just to ensure the cable and port were working, and it went right in. I think I'll just have to send it in and hope they don't mind. Thanks for the help guys!

no. it isn't
the device reboots and the black screen with"fastboot mode" appears after giving the first command. But after giving the second command it doesn't moves ahead, I mean the confirmation message doesn't appears in which we are supposed to select yes or no by pressing volume up and volume down key. So, evrytime i try to unlock bootloader i use to stuck at that black screen and left with no choice but unplugging the device and taking out the battery. After i unplug my device the command prompt shows up a message, somewhat like this- "error <source<too many links>"
:/ please help...
In recovery there should be an advance option inside that you have reboot to bootloader option.

when i start recovery mode' it shows an android doll(the green one) with open stomach :silly: and "no command" written over the screen... then after pressing power button it shows up 8 options'!!
1) reboot system now
2)apply update from adb
3)apply update from sdcard
4)apply update from cache
5)wipe data/factory reset
6)wipe cache patition

8)restore user data..

Ok.
You must be using adb oem unlock command to do that previously.
In fastboot mode

Yea you got it man.
Every device is different so their custom roms also.
Do install those roms which are made for your device.

hmm... thanx for the help buddy'!!
but this device is not so famous so the ROM's are not available even at the XDA-DEVELOPERS
but next time i'll make sure that i'm buying a famous one'!!
actually... i was planning to buy a "HTC Desire 826"
in next few days.. so i decided to learn rooting, flashing n all other techniques in this BOLT'!! so that i'd have less risk while flashing HTC but it cannot be done now'!!
any was thanx for the help'!! ^_^
Your bolt is not waste just find a person having same device and if he is roited say him to make a nandroid backup of his rom on your sd card and done. Take your sd card and restore from that. Your device will work like a new set and you will have both the sets

Recovery only..

I have a Oneplus One here and tried to install a rom onto it after wiping everything.
When I plug it in the charger it goes to recovery, when I reboot to bootloader it does the same, after flashing too.
How can I recover it?
Did you install TWRP or CWM ? If so try another rom , if not read up on adb and install custom recovery first and find out if your bl is unlocked , if not start there , theres alot of reading you need to do

I have TWRP. I had a rom installed so the bootloader is unlocked. All the guides suggest fixing it via fastboot but I cannot access that.. I think the partitions are messed up...

Hey I think you have same problem as me. It's the volume button. It's stuck at Volume - (down). So every time you start your phone, it think you want to go to Recovery. What I did was, I tap the phone little hard on my hand sideways when I boot it up. That unstucks the volume button.
It works for me but not sure if it is the correct way. Just a suggestion. Don't hold me responsible if it breaks anything else.

I wish it was that easy. I didn't have the back cover on it when I tried this.
Did you have a backup of the previous rom (if one) that would save you the trouble, if not , adb
