Best Custom Rom and Kernel for perfomance - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello fellow members of XDA. I am looking for recommendations on which are the best Custom Rom and Kernel to get the best performance out of my Z5 E6653. I am currently running my device on the latest build of MROM and although it is a smooth and reliable rom with decent battery life,i just feel like my phone is terribly lacking in performance when gaming or multi-tasking etc.
Also, with no new ROMS for the device in the foreseeable futur with regards upgrading to OREO or PIE because most developers have moved on to newer devices and the one or two reliable developers who are still trying, have lives and other commitments, their time is limited and we wont see OREO or PIE roms for the Z5 any time soon.
Please could you all suggest the best roms and kernels out there now for overall performance and customisation to bring my z5 performance up in general. Maybe overclocking and so on??? I just need to try something as ive gotten used to my daily which is an XZ2 that when i work with my Z5 it is very disappointing to me.

AC.

Best ROM as a running device?

Yet another classic "what's the best rom" thread. I'm sorry for potentially clogging up the forum's arteries, but I was wondering for some suggestions for roms in regards to using this phone exclusively for music (running).
My preference would be great standby battery and decent performance (as well as Marshmallow if possible)
Cheers for any help guys, it'd be greatly appreciated
orion os 2.6.1 best marshmallow...
They all work really nice, you should look for the one have the things you like by default. I like exodus, trying Vanir right now, they both solid rock roms.
Best ROM?
Exodus, in my opinion is the most solid 6.x ROM I could find. DT2W is integrated.
Orion OS smooth

Looking for suggestions for a daily use rom

guys, i need a rom for a daily using, I'm thinking about flashing havoc 3.5 for my u11+ because there is no support for our model and i have many problems with my actual version (stock oreo rooted with magisk), i had problems with the performance, ram is not doing a good work and games like CoD Mobile which i play everyday closes suddenly, that's not a common behavior for a sd835, so i wanted to ask if htc features like camera app, htc boomsound for speakers and earphones, quickcharge and squeeze work well in this rom, how about the battery life? and if you don't recommend me this one, which rom should i use?

Less custom ROMS nowadays?

I have always used custom roms since my Xperia X10. The current phone I am running is a Samsung S8 but I have had several Sony's and always there has been choice in roms. I especially used to like modified stock roms for Sony's. I am looking at a new phone and am interested in the Xperia 5 II. To my surprise there are no custom roms, but the phone hasn't been on the market for that long. So I decided to see what custom roms are available for the Xperia 1 II. By coincidence, today a version of LineageOS has been released for the 1 II but before yesterday there was nothing...Not even anything about rooting. Then I went on to look at what is available for the Galaxy S20 only to find there is relatively little to choose from compared to a few years ago for the then latest or previous flagship model. So what's happened? Is there just a lot less want for custom roms? Have other ways been found to reach the same goals? For me, one of the most important things is that I want Xprivacy Lua installed. Besides that the Xposed repo had some nice modules, for which EdXposed should be used now. Also, I liked choosing a rom with nice custom functionality added and all bull**** stripped. Are there any ways to achieve these things? Or am I simply not able to find the information because of the new board?

Lack of device trees for the new devices.
Developers have to own the device to create them.
New file structures and layouts(?)
Maybe other stuff..
Plus Android/OEM Stock OS includes about every feature, setting, options you could need....
Yeah but for example there were overclocks, choices in odexed or deodexed, debloated roms with installer etc. And now that's all gone?
I also travelled the whole custom ROM journey by Sony (Ericsson) Xperia devices. Starting with X8 and ending with XZ1 compact. And it was fun to choose between different features, custom layouts, rooting and even go the overclocking route.
At the beginning of Android era features like overclocking have been essential on non flagship phones to get decent performance. Also there have been mods like fake multitouch for single-touch Xperia X8.
But nowadays with mature Android most of this stuff is not required any longer. My XZ1c was still rooted through Magisk but the only proper use for it was AdAway. Today there are even non-root DNS ad blockers, so that is not an argument for me anymore.
Regarding custom ROMs I think it's getting more complex with every new stock android feature to maintain compatibility. Also with the introduction of SafetyNet many of the modern phones are useless with regard to safety critical apps like banking ones as soon as you switch to inoffical builds.
In my opinion the interest might have decreased for these reasons. I don't want to spend hours on getting my phone SafetyNet compliant after rooting just to enable a feature thats available without rooting (ad block in my case). Neither do I want to loose certificates for DRM stuff (which got erased in Sony devices while unlocking BL). Finally I am happy with stock ROMs by now. And for R&D purposes I still have old phones lying around which are easier to maintain with regard to SafetyNet because the hardware does not support deep attestation.
Personally I switched to Samsung S10e because Sony decided to ditch compact phones and rather releases strange 9000:1 aspect ratio devices.

Best game performance

Hello all. I bought this phone in 2018 and kept it for half a year. All that time I used ROMS and stuff. Since camera was my most important thing I always used stock roms. Now I got it out of a drawer to make it a retro android emulation device. So the only thing that I care for is to have the best possible speed and performance. What do you have to recommend for this kind of use?
No opinions?

Can only suggest to go with stock oos11. If you want to go with Custom ROMS , my view of best roms with a balance of speed and performance is as below
1. Lineage OS -- If you are not worried about Photography and sheer performance. This will be the best choice.
2. Dot OS or Palladium OS : I am using DOT OS and i love it's customisations and performance. For photography i have uninstalled Gcam 7.3 and installed 8.1 . Palladium on the other hand has few glitches but fairly neat and clean experience of Android similar to DOT.
The choice is yours, but these are my personal favorites. Some would recommend using Pixel experience or Paranoid. Personally out of all ROMS used , DOT os hasn't let me down with my tests or performance.
Thanks for the answer. I don't care about customization or about photography. I will setup this device just as a gaming platform. So I only care about the best performance.

Question which is best for gaming? stock or custom rom?

im not a hardcore gammer. only do causal gaming of bgmi. in stock rom gaming is good also in custom rom gaming is good with lot of heating.
in telegram channels mostly peoples suggesting stock rom is good for gaming.
currently im in lineage os. battery backup is good and gaming is also good. so i don't know should i come back to stock or stay in lineage os.
I dont know from where you have heard that gaming is better in stock rom than in custom roms. People switch to custom roms for the sole purpose of getting a good experience out of their phones that includes gaming and getting rid of miui crap . But if you like miui you can try miui based custom roms.
