TWRP: Once the flash has completed, Don't use the "Fastboot Reboot" Command Instead
Unplug Your phone then
turn it off
Manually boot it into recovery by keeping Power + Volume Down button pressed.

Does this MSM Tool also work for OnePlus?
To search just with your favorite Search-Engine for this tool is one thing, do you know the link to a trustworthy source?
By the way, I cannot lock my bootloader (just like the OP) and I would like to go back to stock. I found a Video, but it says I need Oxygen OS 4.0.2, if anybody knows where I can get that ?

All you have to do is boot into your bootloader (Power + Volume Up + Volume Down at the same time) and flash the stock recovery.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Chances are you flashed an incorrect version of TWRP meant for another phone hence the boot loop.

Can you please explain to me exactly what to do. thank you. also my bootloader is unlocked. I also can get to fastboot so what is the diffrence between bootloader and fastboot.
Hold down the volume +, volume -, and power button. You'll be taken to a screen with the word START at the top. Now, connect the phone to your Windows computer using the USB cable, open a command prompt and type "fastboot flash recovery nameof twrpfile.img", press the enter key, use the volume button to select recovery, use the power button to enter recovery, press the power button, press volume + button, and you should enter TWRP.
Thank you but I do not own a windows computer
Then look up the respective commands. You flashed twrp over your kernel, you need to flash a proper boot.img (kernel) if you want the phone to boot. Fastboot is ran through bootloader. Flash the proper kernel in bootloader using fastboot.

It might not have been working because I did not enable USB Debuging. :crying:
USB debugging is required for adb commands. With fastboot mode, debugging isn't necessary.

Plug in your phone to your cable to your PC. Reboot the phone and soon as it turns off, hit the sound up & sound down button along with the power button. Hold these down until your PC sounds and verifies you are in EDL mode. Once in EDL, start the app on PC using admin privileges. Once the program has started, run unlock bootloader (option 4) again. Once it's complete, reboot the phone to the OS. Reboot holding power & volume up. This will take you to recovery. Now go to reboot to bootloader. When in fastboot follow the directions to install TWRP. Do not skip any steps! Apparently, steps are being skipped.

I said you need to follow directions. In the directions to run <fastboot boot TWRP.img>, not flash. Then flash the installer if you wish to make it permanent, but I wouldn't recommend making it permanent to allow OTAs to work properly.
Sorry I'm not sure where I've gone wrong here I followed your instructions but when I run the axon edl tool it managed to unlock the bootloader and give me back fast boot with out any stop's on boot up but when I run the axon edl tool I got the error at the end which I posted in the picture so then after that didn't work I put it into fastboot and tried to flash the recovery myself and That didn't work either that's why I posted a photo of that as well

Go into fastboot, connect to your PC and run <fastboot boot TWRP.img> then flash Magisk. Do not flash the recovery. Boot TWRP using the above command. Flashing the recovery will not work. If you read the directions, it tells you that. I have told you everything step by step. If you can access fastboot, you are done with the EDL tool, just go into fastboot and boot TWRP using the ADB command <fastboot boot TWRP. img>

Pixel 4a stuck in fastboot mode

Tried to follow this guide to root my pixel 4a and completed all steps up to 3.4. My phone is now stuck in fastboot mode and I can't get into recovery mode to do a factory reset. Not sure what to do, I'm a little lost. I accidentally used this or this image for Android 10 when I think I should have used this image for Android 11.
Any help would be very appreciated.
Maybe you can use this guide:
[GUIDE] UNLOCKING, DOWNGRADING TO A10, TWRP, ROOT
Hello, I'm posting this guide for those (like me) who can't do without TWRP on their device. I'm providing only a step-by-step explanation. Credits to @nikamura for his kernel and TWRP...
forum.xda-developers.com
And start on this line in "First Step" section:
Plug the phone into a usb port of your pc.
Then complete all the tasks in "Second Step" section to get your phone at least booting in android 10.

Hello. Currently stuck in fastboot mode. Using the volume buttons to select recovery mode and pressing the power button to go into it doesn't take me to recovery mode. The screen briefly goes dark before entering fastboot again. I think the phone is trying to restart but not getting past fastboot mode.

Can you type fastboot reboot recovery and get into recovery mode? You'll see a little Android guy with a red thing if you're in there.
If that doesn't work- it almost sounds as though your recovery partition is deleted or something. You can reflash the recovery from fastboot.
Hey, I had the same problem. I've got it resolved now and wasn't able to find any help on how to resolve it, but this thread is as close as it came, so in the off chance that somebody else comes along, I thought I'd write up the steps I took.
Because it was in fastboot mode, I was able to easily restore my phone to factory settings by running flash factory image script I downloaded here.
My original image was sunfish-rq3a.210605.005-factory-be541467 which I followed the steps with but couldn't get it to work. I got to the Google logo with a status bar that just ran forever. But the flash-all.sh script worked to get the phone booting again.
So what I did to get Magisk to work was to use that same factory image site to download an older version. I used a version that was listed in a different root guide with the idea that maybe the version I tried before wasn't compatible with magisk, but presumably the one from the guide was. So I tried sunfish-rq1a.210105.002, ran the flash-all in fastboot, and confirmed that it booted--it did.
Next I redid 2.2 through 3 and it worked, and the boot completed with Magisk installed. Everything seems to be working fine now.

Bricked Oneplus 8T (device state - locked) data recovery

Hi All!
I am in a bit of an unfortunate situation, and am also not that knowledgeable with Android.
I want to recover data on my phone, I would be happy with just recovering the photos.
My Oneplus 8T currently gives me a Quallcom crash dump error when trying to boot. I am also able to go into Fastboot mode with the power button + volume up/down.
Just now, I tried booting the device to TWRP recovery. I first installed Google usb driver, then updated the driver of my Oneplus 8T in device manager. I installed a TWRP recovery image of a Oneplus 8T and put that file where I downloaded Google platform tools. I then ran 'fastboot devices' and saw my device. However, after running 'fastboot boot twrp.img', I received the error 'boot is not allowed in Lock state'.
I cannot remember if USB debugging is enabled or not. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out as online articles have been quite useless and also very confusing.
Try fastboot getvar all then do fastboot set_active to either a or b depending on which partion you are on you want to change it also pretty sure USB debugging doesn't matter in bootloader you can also try fastboot oem unlock to unlock bootloader to boot twrp unless you updated to oos twrp doesn't work yet
No no no no.
you have loaded dynamic system image = Super image with incorrect.
Go to this link https://onepluscommunityserver.com/list/Unbrick_Tools/OnePlus_8T/
And choose your union and version you want.
Download better driver https://onepluscommunityserver.com/list/Unbrick_Tools/Qualcomm drivers.7z
Now you can use the MSM download troll and get your phone back. Install driver and unzip MSM. Start MSM with admin. Select download mode in MSM. Now press power and vol - and vol + at the same time. Your PC will see a new device. Your phone screen is black. Start MSM and wait for it to finish. Google Translate.

Run fastboot flash recovery twrp.img ... And then fastboot reboot recovery or choose recovery on your phone.
Sometimes holding volume up and power to do a soft reset boots back into system worth a try.

Unable to flash any recovery

Hi,
After updating my OnePlus Nord (EU) to OxygenOS 12 and noticing how full of bugs it is, I've decided to flash PixelExperience on it.
I followed the official PixelExperience install guide: I successfully unlocked my bootloader, and then went ahead to flash the recovery.
Exactly as written in the guide, I performed a fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.
The command finished as expected without any errors, so I rebooted into the recovery with fastboot reboot recovery, only to get an error screen, with a title in Chinese and an error message: "The current image(boot/recovery) have been destroyed and can not boot. Please flash the correct image or contact customer service to fix it.", so my device got soft-bricked.
I tried flashing it again - didn't work.
So I tried flashing TWRP - also didn't work.
I tried to flash a stock recovery from this thread - also didn't work.
I at least tried to recover it back to stock, so I downloaded the MSM tool and Qualcomm drivers and tried to get my device into Qualcomm EDL mode.
I tried many combinations of button pressings, I tried fastboot oem edl, but I just couldn't get it into EDL mode, it just booted into fastboot every time.
How could I fix this - flashing a recovery or at least revert it back to stock?
Bro, OOS 12 Update messed everything, bc boot img in oos 12 doesnt work for flashing
U need to Switch Back to android 11 in order to flash anything..
U can use Edl mode to switch back to OOS android 11 then unlock bootloader and then everything works good
I'm too using Pixel Experience Rom after using edl for OOS 11 and now every Custom recovery and rom works

Oh, I didn't know that!
It wasn't mentioned in any of the guides I read...
Anyways I tried for a week to get it into EDL mode without any success...
I installed the Qualcomm drivers, pressed the volume up + down buttons for 40 seconds then while pressing connecting it to my PC, then every time it just booted into fastboot.
How could I get it into edl mode?

In edl mode, u will not see anything on the phone screen.
To use edl mode, press vol up and down simultaneously (without power botton) for 10 secs and then connect it to pc via usb cable
Then u will hv to use the MSM tool according to ur nation (like India, EU etc) for a specific OOS version
Yeah I did exactly that, but my phone booted into fastboot
Kinda lost, tried this many times

I have the same issue, did you fix that?
Use a USB2 port if not already obvious. (I fought getting into EDL mode for hours the first time - maybe you already know this, sorry if redundant. 10 seconds, 40 seconds, doesn't matter, adl, fastboot, key presses - everyone focuses on the that. Finally with red cable and USB-2 port, it works easily.)
