USA ( U and U1 ) don't have the ability to have the bootloader unlocked.
You are also try to down grade you firmware. You will need a version 6 ( bootloader version ). Bootloader version is the 5th number from the right of firmware ( baseband ).

I don't have a Snapdragon variant
Having not to have the bootloader unlock will limit you to rooting solutions.
You can not down grade you bootloader version number.
Have a look at the s8+ rom section under jrkruse threads and may be ask you question there.

[GUIDE] Downgrade to Marshmallow from Nougat Soak Test

Hey guys , many people were having problems downgrading their device so i thought i should make this thread.
I have downgraded my phone successfully and this should also work for other variants.
So let's Start
Prerequisites :
Phone with Unlocked bootloader
Drivers Installed
Phone Charged to 50%
Phone having Nougat Soak Test
mfastboot and adb
How To :
First Setup adb and Fastboot , by extracting the mfastboot-v2 file in the C:\ directory. So that the files are in a folder in the C directory. Ill name this folder as adb.
Download the correct firmware(Stock Marshmallow) for your device , I have links to all down below.
Extract the firmware files in the same adb folder.
Download the run.bat file . Link below
copy the run.bat file inside the adb folder
Open your phone in bootloader mode by first turning off your phone. Then pressing and holding power and volume down at the same time for around 3 seconds.
Connect your phone to your computer via a usb cable
Double click and run the run.bat file.
After the window closes. Start the phone by selecting the start option in the bootloader mode.
Tap the power button to start.
That's it Now you have successfully downgraded to Marshmallow.

Yes this should work .
I have a locked bootloader and im on soak build NPJ25.75-2.
Do I need to unlock the bootloader to flash this new soak build. Or can I downgrade to MM without unlocking bootloader.
I dont understand that if I'm flashing official files then why do I need to unlock the bootloader.
What I want to do is to update to the lastest build of N from soak build without unlocking bootloader.

I think you'll have to flash Marshmallow as described in this thread. Then sideload the update OTA via recovery.
If anybody is unable to download from FileFactory (like me), and happen to be on the XT1643, download link for the stock ROM is available on this thread. Happy Nougat times!
it ll unlock the bootloader?

How to Downgrade S7 930U Snapdragon from Nougat 7 to Marshmallow 6?

I prefer the speed and performance of marshmallow on the S7. Where are the correct files I should flash in Odin and which version of Odin should I be using to flash Android 6?
So apparently the camera isn't working after downgrade to 6?
Not something I'm willing to deal with unless the issue has been solved.
You can't downgrade snapdragon S7 models (G930U/T/V/A/P) due to the locked bootloader
Any downgrading would only work on the G930F with OEM unlock
Help root or downgrade or both?

I have a sm-g930u factory unlocked and Im also trying to get all i need to downgrade from oreo which is havoc on my battery and i dont know if its better to downgrade to laterst nougat or root it and take care of bloatware to help battery drain yet the problem will persist which is that the upgrade is designed for s8 and s9 with octacore processor and the s7 is working harder with a quad core so temp will always be hotter than before and slower than with nougat . Any help with proper step by step in downgrading my factory unlocked phone would be appreciated and any root links as i havent done it in years.

You can downgrade any version bit loader by flashing the combo firmware and the rooting combo firmware then flash stock nougat system image its basically what the root method is for Rev11/B. If you are just on nougat then you would have to get the combo firmware that matches the bootloader version you have because if you flash my rev11/B root method you are forever stuck on that bootloader and can never use nougat again or have oreo root as there is no eng root boot.img available for oreo root on rev11/B bootloader

you can downgrade too marshmallow from any version you have because combo firmware for s7 is marshmallow based and its available for all bootloader versions. You just use the combo bootloaders and boot.img and stock system image then root it
If your still on bit 4 you can just flash stock bit 4 marsmallow and root with marshmallow eng root img

is it possible to downgrade s8 from oreo to nugget or not ?

Yes you can root this phone.
Your issue with twrp is because your bootloader/OEM is locked preventing you from flashing.
OEM unlock is in developer menu section
Be aware that modifying your phone will trip your knox. So no more ota updates and Knox related apps/functions will not work again as well as voiding your warranty(depending on region).
Just something off the internet for enabling developer options :
https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/wccftech.com/galaxy-s8-developer-options/amp/
Also read this guide carefully
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...w-to/guide-root-install-twrp-samsung-t3747535
If you are going to install twrp use latest version 3.2.3.2 ( If flashing through Odin you will need the extension .img.tar file )
From your model number you posted use the s8 twrp version not the s8+
@spawnlives
BIG THANK YOU !!!

Odin install failed w/ android 6.0.1 on S7 sm-g930v get auth & write failed

I just purchased a S7 SM-G930V that is factory reset and on wifi only until I can downgrade the android OS (v8 ->v6.0.1) to run specific software that won't run on 7 or 8 OS. I have downloaded lastest odin v3.13 and firmware for USA sm-g930v but odin fails with (auth) error at 1st run, and Complete(write) error if I try it again. Any help would be appreciated!
You cannot downgrade the bootloader and a stock 6.01 rom won't run properly on an 8.0 bootloader.
Can I downgrade the bootloader to v6.0.1? If yes, how please? Thx

There are at least 3 models of g950. A F model a U model A W model.
If it's a U or a W model it's locked bootloader and you cannot modify it.
