Is the mic really this poor? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I noticed whilst watching some YouTube videos, that the audio recorded from this device sounds really subpar. I noticed it on Mr Mobiles youtube video and the linked one. Sounds really hissy. 3m22sec marker .. this is just one example, all other videos with audio recorded sounded the same .

Yeah it's crap. I think it's software issue though. Something like enabled noise reduction while video recording.

[Q] Audio Quality on Recordings. Video Attached.

I know this may be a repeat, and if so i apologize. I tried searching the forums but there was nothing in relation to this issue specifically....
I went to a concert on New years with a buddy of mine (who has an iphone 4), and we both recorded videos. The video quality on the NS seemed to be better than the 'iPhone 4", however the nexus audio quality in the video recording was just horrendous. the iphone 4 played the exact same video with lower video quality, but crystal clear audio.
on the NS you could hear nothing but BASS levels. Can anybody explain to me:
1. Why this happens on the NS and not on the iphone4?
2. Can this be solved with using an external headset?
3. Will this be fixed in any patches (720p recording, etc) or is it a hardware issue?
I'll upload the two videos for you to compare.
Edit: I'll have to get the actual video file from the iphone, but this should give you enough of an example.

may have something to do with the software based noise cancellation
Wait, is the Nexus S not hardware based noise cancellation? Correct me if im wrong, but the nexus 1 had a second microphone just for this?
Unless this is patched, this might be a dealbreaker for me as I use my camera recording, and audio recording frequently.

yup NS only has one microphone, i believe it is because there are some new noise cancellation stuff in 2.3...that doesnt really work
unless we are dealing with the some audio auto gain, like the same problem found in the SGS phones
Thanks for the response guys, this might just be reason enough for me to go back to the N1 until the NS has better updates.

[Q] Youtube HQ not really "HQ", why?

So I don't know why but for some odd reason in the youtube app, if HQ is highlighted the audio quality is still feeble, where youre still able to hear grainy audio and "pixel shifting" images.
However when I go to the youtube website in the browser and play an HD video there the audio quality is completely flawless. It's pretty much desktop quality at 480,720 and 1080. Granted the videos wont play well ( expected) but the audio is surreal compared to the app.
I want to know why this is happening. Alot of people havnt been this specific when it came to youtube video qualities but youll find the rare thread that speaks of this exact problem.
Im using the Nexus One and the latest OS. 2.3.4.
When using tubemate, it downloads the grainy version of the video as opposed to the real HQ seen on the website. How do i go around this. Essentially I want to rip the songs from HD versions so I can play it in the car without wasting bandwidth going from one video to another.
When the app says HQ, what is it really talking about. Its nowehere near 480p to the very least. The degradation in the audio quality is noticable both in my car and akg headphones, where my unrestricted 3gs never had this problem. I miss that phone to death.
Well, it's all really a matter of terminology..
HQ stands for High Quality
HD stands for High Definition
While HD is a written standard with rules and guide lines that are needed to be followed, HQ is merely a relative thing. I can say that HQ is 420p cuz in MY service, I also have 180p which I decide to call LQ (L for low) and 320p which I consider as the medium or "normal" quality.
And thus I can also say that HD is like VHQ (Very High Quality) or something.
Hope it's clear enough.

The YouTube app doesn't use flash video at all, unlike most browsers do...The app uses html5 encoding, and that's why it works on pretty much every Android device out there...When you watch YouTube vids on their website, (not the mobile website), you are able to utilize your most recent, best optimized version of Adobe flash....Also why Apple people can use a YouTube app...don't need flash. (Actually a little surprised that Apple HAS a YouTube app, but, after all, the driving force for Google is ad revenue, and I guess the money from all those iphoners couldn't be passed up...)

desire s audio sound during video recording

ok so i was at a concert recently seeing my all time favorite rap group whom i have been listening to since my childhood, whip out my desire s to get some good hd footage, get on the train and then bammm the audio is completely blown out.. now of course i was p'd off especially when people who were recording with the iphone 4 and the blackberry their videos were absolutely fine in terms of audio which was clearly audible.. it seems that it does not automatically recognise that the sound levels are too high and does not lower the sound intake or whatever, not too clued up with all this.. anyone else experience any issues with audio during vid recording.. i have read somewhere that recording with your headset plugged in makes a drastic difference.

video camera bass

Has anyone found a way to fix the damn audio when recording? i recorded a video next to a friend with an iphone and her audio sounds way better. The bass makes it sound terrible its muffled and distorted and hers sounds great. We both recorded a rock band from the same spot.
i would also like to know me and my friend were at a concert and he has a iphone, i was like YUHHH 1080p but with terrible audio, his audio sounded good.
Sorry to say that I believe that's the one area that the iPhone is suppior to the s3. The sound recording is something within the hardware of the phone and not something that is fixable...at least I haven't found a way yet. If anybody has a fix I would love it!

Audio programs and apps

Are there any good apps that can be installed to keep the audio from distorting in loud situations when taking video? IE live concerts and such. The horrible audio quality on videos pretty much ruins the nice video the phone takes.

External USB mic or headphone mic really. Other than that, you might have to use a completely different app to record the video. Like cameraFX or something.
