[APP] Has anyone gotten Always On Edge reminder lights to work on their Pixel 3a? - Google Pixel 3a Questions & Answers

The thread title pretty much sums it up. I am wondering if anyone who is using the app Always on Edge (AOE) for their notifications has gotten the reminder lights to work on their Pixel 3a. If so, what combination of settings did the trick? I can get the lights to trigger when the notification first comes in, but they never appear again. I have tried all varieties of the AOD being on, off, on with notifications only, etc., with no luck.

It seems to be working for me. I checked "when a notification comes" and "lighting for 8 seconds every 30 seconds" right below.
This app is what I was looking for to replace LED notifications, I'm currently testing it but it seems pretty well made and with lots of options.

Do the reminders still trigger if the screen wakes - either from the notification itself, or because you manually woke it up?

What do you mean? Right now if I receive a notification, the edge lights up for 8 seconds, turns off, then lights up again after 30 seconds and so on.
If I get to the lockscreen by touching the screen or pressing the power button and then let it turn off again, the reminder won't show up anymore. I guess this is intended, if you wake the screen, presumably you have seen the notification and you don't need to be reminded anymore.

Okay, this is consistent with what I noticed. Even if you don't wake up the screen yourself, if you have it set up where incoming notifications wake the screen temporarily, you don't get the reminder lights. Or even if you had the screen on already, walked away, and got a new notification before the screen had a chance to dim. I think an update is coming soon to fix this. But glad to hear it's not just me.

Alarm doesn't go off when in sleep mode

Hi, I've seen this problem in other places, but no answer to it yet:
I've always used my phone as my alarm, but I get an unexpected sleep-in this morning when the alarm didn't go off! I've just tested it, and putting the phone to "sleep" by pressing the power button seems to prevent the alarm from going off.
If I don't press the power button (which I started doing as it locks the keypad really easily), the screen never goes off. I guess that's just a setting.
Will try again for tomorrow morning, without putting sleep on. But is this a bug or a "feature", anyone know?

Nope. Mine is working perfectly even in "Sleep Mode".

mine works fine too.
as for the fact that the screen never goes off, that can be adjusted if you go to settings/ power and/or settings/ system/ backlight/.
What software do you have installed?
I used to use PocketZenPhone, however it was mucking up the alarms.
Clean your notification queue is the other thing. Pocket Mechanic is good for this.
Well it woke me up this morning - but it still doesn't work if I lock the keys by single-pressing the power button. It does work with the red end-call key to lock the phone after a long key press. Less usable, but some mornings I just have to wake up!

I have no specific configuration. I set my alarm for the 5 working days with sound and vibration, press the power button, and no problems at all.
Ensure that you set the right time, example: morning instead of afternoon.
Play a bit to become familiar with it.

Random vibrate?

Does anyone have this problem?
My phone would vibrate randomly. Very short vibration, kind of like haptic feedback when typing on the keyboard. Not very often, but once or twice every few days (that I have noticed). There would be no notification or led blink, and I don't think I have turned off any sort of notification beside vibrating for any app...
Usually sound plays when my phone is dying, maybe you have it on vibrate so its a small vibrate to let you know that power saving has come on? I have no idea, just poking in the dark here.
I happen to have a similar issue. Don't know if it relates but mine happens to vibrate when pushing the volume buttons. Strange habit of mine, pushing the buttons of my phone when it is in my pocket.
Don't know if this helps you in any way but thought I would mention it

If you press and hold the volume down button, the phone will silent itself and turn itself into "vibrate mode", but that's not the case here.

Maybe but I'm not sure. I remember a few days ago I simply had my phone laying flat on my desk when I was working. It vibrated so I picked it up to check for message, only to find that it vibrated for nothing. There was nothing on the notification bar (there would be a triangle with ! if power saving is on). Weird

It doesn't do that when locked

Put me down for a "me too". I'm getting the random vibrations once or twice a day (that I notice, at least). I had the same thing happen, too, that you described -- my phone was on my desk at work and then randomly did a short "half-vibrate" -- but there were no notifications or any reason it should have vibrated. Must be a bug...
happens to me when a call connects i.e if i dial out and hen i hit a voice mail it will vibrate very shortly

Then your vibrate is not random.
Is it in your pocket or in your hand when it vibrates? I have heard of this strange phenomenon where you get these phantom vibrations on your leg where your phone would be resting against your leg in your pocket, but when you check your phone, there wouldn't be any messages. It used to happen to me all the time after I got a phone that would vibrate with incoming calls/messages, lol. It sometimes still happens, but not as much anymore. The human mind is so fascinating!
Edit, sorry, i didn't see the post where you had said that it was on your desk.
It's weird... After I posted it here, I have never experienced any random vibrate anymore.
I've had it but only while using go launcher. Uninstalled it and never had it again.

Hrm, i'm just curious now if this is only me or some others are experiencing this too. Recently I flashed HyperSensation CM7 rom and I'm using FauxClock's kernel. Before my phone would not vibrate when I put it in silent or vibrate mode. All of a sudden yesterday after I rebooted a few times, the vibrate started to work in both vibrate and silent mode. Now it won't stop vibrating for no reason. It's a double vibrate, and sometimes I would receive at least 3-4 vibrates in consecutive times. I check my phone, my notification LED does not light up, I don't have any messages coming in, there are no Facebook notifcations, I don't have any e-mail's coming in.
Also whenever I reboot my phone and it finishes rebooting and shows me my lockscreen, it vibrates 2-3 times of the same doulbe vibrate rhythm. Does anyone know where I messed up while I was playing with my settings? My phone does vibrate when it's on loud when I receive messages or calls or other functions like my alarms. It just didn't vibrate before when I put it in silent/vibrate mode. Now it won't stop vibrating and this has been going on for 14 hours. I'm going nuts!

Notification LED not blinking when it should?

My notification LED only blinks after I have hit the power button on the phone(unlocking it)...which is kind of useless because obviously when I tap the power I am accessing my phone therefore going to see the notifications displayed. Why is it that when my phone is locked/on standby that the LED notification doesn't blink right away until I wake it up and then lock it again? It is as if the phone went into some sleep mode and even calls, texts, and everything does not wake it up automatically.

I've got the same issue at some (random) times, where it doesn't start notifying until I check it myself. It sure seems like a *small issue*, but since it's there to help us out... well, it should be helping us out.

when I get a notification, the screen doesn't lock

im using stock rom light manager for notifications, and have it checked so every notification lights up the screen.
the problem is when the screen starts dimming in a minute, just before locking and letting the LED kick in, it wakes the phone up back to a fully lit up lock screen...and the cycle always continues until I lock manually with finger.
any help????

Check your settings in light manager, make sure there is no notifications pending in there, any you have say read from the lock screen which doesn't appear in my experience clear these as read. Once in a while I have to go in and cancel the notifications (lightflow) is what I use, although I just use to to illuminate the led's not the screen (otherwise my battery would be flat in half a day)

Pixel 2 phone random changes

I just pulled out my phone and had this happen again for the 4th time. Sometimes when I pull out my phone it had the brightness maxed out, sometimes flashlight on, and battery saver mode. It's not always those changes, but sometimes I have a freakout of the phone and when I take a look at it I see all these random changes. Does this happen to anyone else ?
The only thing I can think of is that the gesture is waking the phone and since the pull down menu is not locked on the lockscreen things are auto getting pressed.

If you have swipe fingerprint for notifications on, it could be you're swiping down on the sensor which would turn the phone on and swipe notifications down, making it easy to accidentally toggle something on as you pull it out.
