What's behind Root Genius?

Hi,
I have a Cat S50 smartphone, and after reading the following thread:

Decided to try to root it using Root Genius, as I have found no other way thus far, and can confirm it has successfully rooted my device.
I have a couple of questions I was hoping someone here might be able to answer me:
1) How much malware should I expect from Root Genius?
2) Is there anyway I can find out what vuln/exploit it used to root my device?
Here are the details for the device:
Android 4.4.2
Linux 3.4.0-ge072e48-dirty (armv7l)

I'm very surprised to find very little information about this incredible tool which presents terms of service all in Chinese, so there's really no way to tell what you've signed up for if you do not speak Chinese. Usually, the experts on XDA weigh in on these things, but there's nothing I've found telling me this is a safe program to use. I got as far as the Chinese terms of service and then quit.

Miui 7 Printing Services

Hi Guys!
Seems that Miui developers still doesn't have need to print from their smartphone
At the moment i'm using Miui 7 by xiaomi.eu 5.12.11 | developer
When i go in Settings-> print-> i can install new services but i CANNOT enable them!!
There isn't a button to enable/disable
Can i do that via adb?

[Completed] Orientation support in Android Box

I am new to this community and Android devices. I have recently bought Android Box device in which I want the following 3 features.
Orientation switching
I need a switch from where I can change screen orientation between landscape and portrait
I tried installing apps that claim to enable orientation rotation option but does not work. How do I get this feature?
Retain time
This device has American Trends BIOS version 2.16.1242
Core BIOS version 5.008
When I set the time in BIOS and start the device, wrong time is shown for a few seconds and then the time is corrected automatically. I think the OS gets the correct time from BIOS
I don't want to device to be dependent on time for BIOS. Can anything be done about this?
Remove scrolling wallpaper
There is not option to remove the scrolling wallpaper and have the good old single screen wallpaper. How do I get this?

Android Developer Preview Discussion Thread

Hey Guys,
Want to discuss about the latest android developer preview
Will share the findings here.
All are welcome to do it here.
Hope we can create a stable preview soon.

First of all, apps which need to pass a security check don't work in the current build:
- Netflix
- Pokemon Go
- Others?
* The new gesture navigations options can't be found yet under Settings > System > Gestures. Although you can find the 3 options if you search in the settings, you can't change it.
* Some settings can only be changed via the developer options (accent colors, icon shape).
* Signal bar is not visible in the notification bar

Yup.
And fortunately, i am not facing some problems which are mentioned on the Nokia's community page.
Some missing features which i noticed are -
1. Gestures
2.Buggy Download manager
3.VoLTE seems to be working but not completely. I can receive calls but not make calls and send/receive sms.
4.Camera works fine. However, its the vanilla version of Camera app provided by Qualcomm so nothing special expected from it. Nokia will replace that app with it's own in upcoming builds.
5.External storage like SD card is not accessible by third-party apps but only system apps compatible with Android Q . I guess there are some changes with Storage framework because of which apps are not able to access SD card. Checked this with Whatsapp, instagram.
6.Apps requiring Google certifications/safety net or something similar would not work because the OS is still in Development phase.
7.Fingerprint is working fine, but is slow.
8.Dark theme is not properly applied over settings app.
9.Files app crashes when refreshing.
If you are reading this and thinking to update to Android Q Dev Preview. I would like to clarify that the OS is still in development and may get even worse with every update.
So, if you are not ready to use other phone as a backup do not update to Q.

Definitely facing all the above mentioned issues, in addition to Whatsapp being unable to restore backups from Google drive.
Anyways i made the mistake as installing this as my daily driver... Do you guys have any idea if it's possible to rollback even if there's no official support for that?

just saw it... "We are currently unable to support rollback to Android 9 Pie. We hope to have manual rollback support available by 16 May 2019. The website will be updated as soon as manual rollback is available." https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_int/developer/

This is preview beta. Very unstable and more for developers. When Q OTA comes your hardware won't change. That's permanent. ?

Well, i didn't say hardware change Einstein , I said hardware optimized (better driver, firmware)

There is any changes in Beta 5 OTA build? Because when I flashed developer preview manually, there was a serious bug, if I touch fingerprint sensor device was stopped working only reboot is option, even if device is just locked and if I touch on fingerprint device stopped working, so I simply rolled back to pie

Recently installed Android 10 OTA build version 00WW_4_070 (directly from pie). I see a working option to unlock the bootloader under the developer options page. Any devs working on rooting and/or a custom rom?

I installed the ota update (v5) last night. I had faced the same issue regarding the fingerprint sensor after manual install. For the time being, I see that the phone is working well. But when I m receiving calls, I am not able to answer right away. The phone app is freezing or disappearing in the background.

Error code for Microsoft store

Good morning folks.
I have acer liquid jade primo windows 10 phone with version 1511 and model S58.
Please how can l resolve this error code 0x80131500 that is not allowing one to go to the store?

That is the screenshot of the response l normally get each time l clicked either Microsoft Word, excel, power point, calculator, outlook mail. The absence of these apps make the phone useless to me.
For the avoidance of doubt, the phone is Acer Liquid Jade Primo windows 10 mobile.
Model: S58
Version:1511
OS Build: 10.0.10586.545
Ram:3GB, 32GBROM.
I don't mind remaining on this build but how do l resolve the error code from the store and make it to work?

1. Reset the store in Settings > Apps > MS Store > Advanced Settings.
2. Check your Antivirus. Temporarily uninstall / disable AV.
3. Search for "Internet Options"
Open the App
Select the "Advanced" Tab
Scroll to the Bottom of the List where you can see "Use SSL/TLS"
UN-Select SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 and 1.1
SELECT TLS 1.2 and (If Available) TLS 1.3
Click "Apply"
Click "OK"
Reboot your phone.

It's because Microsoft store has been shut down for windows phone

The shutdown already took place december, 2019.

Thank you sir for your swift response, but it seems to me that you are describing PC windows 10 store rather than window phone. The procedure you asked me to follow cannot be found on my Acer liquid jade primo windows 10 phone.
Please sir can you describe the process again using window phone in mind?

Please forgive my ignorance. I know little about "Information Technology". If you can still tell me on how to solve the store issue of my acer liquid jade primo windows 10 phone l will forever be grateful. The error code is 0x80131500. Version is 1511.

The store is not working and is on version 1511. Please what is the workaround to move it from version 1511.xxx to 14393.xxx?

Honestly l don't know but when I try to update it via otc updater look at the response: S58(S58xWWxGEN1) 10.0.13384.545.
And it further said "No updates are available for this device."
I reset the phone nothing happened, everything remains the same.
Please any workaround will be highly appreciated.

problem solved for windows phone 10
update the phone to -SO:10.0.15063.297 version 1703 at the very least. The Microsoft store is back up and running , or version 1709.
--> settings --> update and security --> phone update
----------------------------------------------------
For windows phone 8.1 or 7 ( No more access to the Store.)
Download SDK wp8.1, Install SDK on PC or notebook with windows 8 or 10. (not win7 or XP)
