Will the 5G Moto Mod work if I get an unlocked Z4 with a Verizon connection?
I seem to find contradictory answers from different articles.
I would like to be able to root my Z4 which of course will not be possible if I get the Z4 directly from Verizon.

No it won't work. It only works with the bootloader locked version sold by Verizon
You can flash the VZW firmware on it

I bought a Verizon Moto G and upon discovering that I cannot unlock the bootloader I would like to exchange it for one with an unlockable bootloader. Just to be sure, only AT&T and Verizon are the ones where you can't unlock the bootloader?
Or is it impossible to unlock the bootloader on Boost Mobile?

Boost Mobile is unlockable. I've done it. Flashed to Verizon and activated on Page Plus.
Verizon is NOT unlockable.
Can't comment on AT&T as I don't use them but a Boost or Verizon model will not work on AT&T or vice versa unlocked or not.

Alright, thank you. I'll be getting the Boost Mobile one, then.
Thank You for your Help!
Sent from my XT1045 using XDA Free mobile app
im in the same crappy spot!
Still waiting on root for my Moto G 4G LTE also
I too am STUCK
apparently on 4.4.2 you could can not as of yet. I doubt one will come, it appears both the software and the bootloader is very secure. Don't hold your breath if this phone gets updated to lollipop. Best option is to sell the moto g on ebay and purchase another moto g that is factory unlocked and not tied to att. I will never puchase a cricket/att device ever again
Yes, I unlocked my Cricket (AIO) xt1032 with Sunshine. http://theroot.ninja/
(it costs 25$ to do it though...and it won't work on 4.4.4, but Cricket/AIO never pushed the 4.4.4)

ohhh lucky you but isnt that the non-LTE motoG?
Yeah, the xt1032 is the non-lte version
So basically, all of us with Cricket branded devices running 4.4.4 are screwed, and never getting Lollipop?
I chatted with a Cricket rep the other day and they said they have no plans to upgrade XT1045 to Lollipop.
Does anyone have an explanation as to why Motorola won't give out bootloader unlock codes for these devices?

Because at will not let you unlock the boot loader to your device. As many of us know cricket was bought out by att. So now cricket is now a part of att network and att will not let Motorola let their customers unlock their boot loader through their website. If the moto g LTE is on 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 then you can easily go to the root.ninja website and they will unlock it for a price of 25 bucks. Once its unlocked that boot loader cannot be locked again even after a system update. As for lollipop I am not sure that they will or will not give the system update for the moto g LTE. Cricket is well known for not knowing what they are talking about when it comes to their devices. But if you can unlock the boot loader then theirs really no need to wait for the system update as cm12 is just as good as lollipop. In my opinion its better than stock lollipop

I am not a customer of AT&T or Cricket. I should have the right to do whatever I want to my phone. This would probably lead to nothing, but I wonder if any legal avenue can be taken here.

As I to feel like we should be able to do whatever we want to with the phones we buy. However the agreement between Verizon and at with Motorola prohibits them to let us unlock our devices through Motorola website. Which means that we have to find a way through other means like developers finding a loophole. This thing has been going on for years with Verizon and att. Even though you bought the phone outright from cricket, they are still att branded phones which blocks you from unlocking the easy and free way. However with sprint and tmobile your able to unlock it. I have the boost mobile CDMA moto g and had no trouble on the Motorola website. If you can go through the legal avenue on this one and achieve then you have no idea how many hands would be shaking yours from att and Verizon.lol
Hello,
Is there a way to carrier unlock the Moto G XT1031 on 4.4.4 from BoostMobile? I bought it certified pre-owned and I want to use it on TracFone. I read a few posts on the Internet that say that say unlocking the phone won't work past 1/15/2015... is this still the case on pre-owned devices? Or just for new devices bought after that date?
I'm a huge noob at this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
You can unlock the bootloader here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537119

Well you don't carrier unlock cdma phones you flash them to another carrier. As for moto g on any thing else but boost sorry it is a no go. Unless like the lg g2 it is possible to say take a rom from vzw and put it on the boost variant and make it a verizon. The lg g2 sprint can be carrier unlocked by flashing a tmobile rom that has been modded. Found that out here on xda and did it.

I was in USA and I bought.
Sorry not possible because it's unlocked via network.
If there is a boot loader unlock in future it may be possible depending on how the simlock is implemented. HTC M8 requires Supercid to do the Sim unlock though..... LG G2 on Sprint required root and a CDMA tool.

Sony bootloaders have nothing to do with SIM unlock, so a bootloader unlock will not help.
As of now, the bootloader remains unlockable.

Hmm,
The bootloader of a Z3 can be unlocked via the Sony website.
Its only unofficial unlocks that cannot be done
EDIT
Of course the USA variants are all locked down though, but that's T-Mobile or AT&T doing that, not Sony

Yes, I've watched the video, but the bootloader for the T-mobile variant, D6616, cannot be unlocked.

Just want to say that the US unlocked & unbranded version is the D6603 just like in Europe. You bought one specifically made for a carrier, next time be more careful I guess. I suppose you should sell it back in the US or return it if possible.
The only way I can think of is to mail it back to a usa person. Have them get tmob to unlock it. Mail it back to russia. Not impossible just a pita. Once tmob allows you to put any sim in your set (essentially releasing there grimy fingers from it). Considering how greedy these ****e carriers are, good luck even asking them even if you have a good standing acct.
Hello,
Is it possible to convert Verizon a71 5g uw to the unlocked one? How do I do that?

You mean unlocked bootloader (oem unlock) or unlock network (SIM unlock)?
Fort the latter you can ask Verizon to get an unlock code.
For bootloader unlocking, check this thread:
Bootloader Unlock/Root Bounty Thread
This is where i will compile all known methods of bootloader unlock/root methods and the bounties for the respective US Carriers. Tmobile/Sprint Status=No known Method Tmobile/Sprint Bounty= $0 ATT Status=No Known Method ATT Bounty=$0...
