Hey, did anyone try hydrogel screen protector?
We have ordered hydrogel for both front and back from AliExpress , But this is going to take atleast 3 weeks.
I am using one since past day. It was easy enough to apply but left lots of air bubbles. They have reducing steadily but will have to see if all are gone or not. The card to remove the bubbles is not very useful.
The one I am using is extreme fingerprint magnet. And feel is OK.
Best part is, it was just ₹65... So I am ok..

After few days of using it I have mixed review. Bubbles are mostly gone except where I missed dust. I did not like the feel of this as much as I used to like the old Gadget Sheildz ones(water application ones). They were easier to get a dust free application. And the feel was extremely smooth. This one feels sticky. Finger won't move as much.
Over all its cheap enough to experiment....

Im using one from AliExpress and I feel the same.. The touch isn't great ,fp and stuff works fine but for the most part touch response sucks
I've just applied one. I bought locally but it is the same stuff imported through Aliexpress. My screen protector had positioning tape on the back and came with a flat thingy to apply pressure when applying to the screen. Perfect application, feels like bare screen. Much more enjoyable than a thick glass with borders.

Obviously it won't protect screen from fall damage like tempered glass would. I would consider it only scratch protection but that's okay since I use a case.
I bought a set for the front and rear. Well, I wasted my money. It's really difficult to apply it. Every air bubble that you try to get out might result in a "crack" in the hydrogel, when you hear that cracking noise, the hydrogel is ruined as you'll get a visible "bubble". Reapplying won't help. The glue used is a dust magnet, it just attracts dust from the air as you place it down. I worked in a fairly clean environment behind my desk, and even I got 3 dust particles on it. The included tool is useless as it wobbles inside the usb port and the clip to hold the screen protector in place cant even hold its other part.
Finally I just removed them and threw them away. Maybe I'll get new ones to try again.
Ordered for front, took it to a case shop, so they can apply it professionaly. Turned out its already broken, but the guy applied it decently. It would be great, if there wasnt that crack on the protector

I have quite an experience with a bunch of screen protectors, and the best ones are hydrogels.
I have an OCD about notchless screens and scratch protection of the screen.
A little bit of every screen protector experience:
Simple plastic screen protector is very bad for curved screens. Period. Sides of the screen will be lifted and it will accumulate all the dust. So you will always have a ring of dust. Also - being plastic it has got hardness of ~3-4, so it will scratch.
Glass screen protectors is somehow the same as plastic: it has ring of dust of our curved screens, it is a little bit harder, ~5. But eventually it will scratch. As gorilla glass itself. And for protection - i have broke several screens with glass protectors, so i do not have any faith in them. In the end it does not offer better protection.
There other type of glass screen protector - full glass screen protector. It has black margins of the glass, to cover up that ring of dust. They do not have full glue adhesive, only on the sides, so they all have that hideous rainbow effect. If you want, you can search for full glue / full glass screen protector, it may be better.
And finally - hydrogel. It is softer than plastic, but it has "self healing ability", but it is perfect for curved screens - it usually comes with positioning plastics for easier application, it comes with squegee for buble free application and the best feature is very soft and can cover all the screen even if its curved.
IMHO, but i think that screen protector is meant to be scratched and replaced, but it will protect your precious gorilla glass screen. It wont protect from drops, but it always will be scratchless. I am attaching mine Mi 9T pro with hydrogell:

Howßs about Brando´s Protectors, had very good experience with them on normal phones. But they are pretty thick (subjective) don´t know how this effects the touch functionality. Altough the protector supplied with the Diamond from HTC is not bad as well.

Actually i have some Martin Fields protectors on order for my diamond, my experience with them on other devices is that they are AMAZING, they really are fantastic. Very very clear and as thin as you could ask for. By the looks of it, the protector will not cover the centre button/touch sensitive area, and only covers the hard buttons... so it should not effect functionality... i will update after i have received & applied mine.
I've used Martin Fields screen protectors on my last 3 or 4 devices. Couldn't recommend them enough.

ok well got my martin fields protector today and applied it, i have only applied the screen portion of the protector and not the (bottom 1/3) button protector yet (coz i already have a MOMAX protector on the buttons) The screen is good, i would say there is a bit more resistance when swiping with your finger around compared with the 'in box' protector, but that is intentionally designed to help with stylus precision. the clarity of the material is fantastic, as with all martin fields products. the screen is still very responsive with the protector on, so it is not too thick or anything imo. the only real criticism (which i have noticed b4 on martin fields stuff) is that the area that is cut out for the ear speaker is not as cleaner cut as i have seen in other protectors, but it is overall a very good protector, and is easy to apply.\
Note also the protector is (as expected) rather fingerprint prone - to more or less the same extent as the in-box protector.
Ok thanks for that review but I have one further question. Depending on the thickness and design of the edges of the protector, with the originial protector applied it happens that when i put my Diamond in the Pouch the edges sometimes stick with the inside of the pouch. So that dust and lint can come under the edges and that makes this ugly and the edges will become used so that sooner or later the whole protector will get off.
How does the MF protector behave in theses situations and especially the protector on the buttons. Because the buttons are not protected by the frame of the diamond, like the screen is, so the edges are more easily bend over during usage?

i had this problem. had to remove my protector after a week, because it was unusable.

No the protector is like a half mm less wide and less long which shd help with that, also i feal it is attached to the device more securely than the original SP. you may get some small bits of dust sticking to the edge, by that i mean the thickness has some adhesive on it, but lint will NOT get under the protector in my estimation. Also MF has a good way of removing lint if its under the screen after application, watch their vids on their website. its pretty good overall, the only flaw is just the slight increase in resistance when swiping yr finger around the screen, bt im used to that already.

Hey yeah these are MOMAX protectors, they are not bad BUT the fit is not as close to the edges as MF or the original SP. Also the bit of glass above the top speaker is not covered by the protector, its just left open and so susceptible to scratches... also i found it is not attached the the device as strongly as the competition

I have just brought the EXiM SPUC not the spoc. Cost under 7 pounds from ebay. Used EXiMs for years now for my psp to all my touch screen phones. Never have a complaint compared to the cheap pack of 10 versions kicking about. There is a reason why you get 10 in a pack 'cause you prob have to scrap half of them or they are scratched already!

Here is a picture of the phone without the screen installed.
This is the box. You open the bottom flap up like a flip cover and the liquid spray stick comes popping out. Pretty nifty. Instructions are on the underside of the top flap.
Included: the microcloth with the Skinomi logo printed on it. It's just big enough for me to leave in my glasses case too. Then there's the actual screen protector, the spray stick, and the squeegee.
My screen had a little dent a little under the right middle portion, but I applied it anyway. Strangely enough, the dent was gone soon after installation. Perhaps this is the "self-healing" technology that the company claims their products to have?? In any case, I am happy I did not have to send back (yet).
Here's how it looks immediately after applying.
The actually application wasn't too difficult. I just sprayed a liberal amount onto my fingers and both sides of the screen, then lined it up, laid it down, and squeegeed away. Other users on this forum have mentioned getting the orange peel effect, or disliking that rubber texture from the skin, but I haven't had any of these problems. There are microbubbles and such under the skin under the skin, but I'm hoping that all of that will go away in about a day or so. The texture itself is quite smooth. I barely felt any resistance on the screen as I have before with Zagg InvisibleShields, and my screen is no longer a fingerprint magnet!!! I'll try to post more pictures of the screen, colors, etc tomorrow for a comparison.
So for those of you who are looking for a good screen protector, I highly recommend installing the Skinomi. Colors are still vibrant and responsiveness is not hindered. You also get lifetime warranty, and the skin itself was dirt cheap. If you haven't seen on the other threads yet, you can buy it for a buck on Amazon. After shipping and handling, it comes out to about three bucks. Give it a shot!

does it cover the entire glass section of the screen ? mine really only covers to the actual edge of the display, and if its out by a 1mm everything is screwed up

I just installed mine and it covers the entire glass. There's about 0.5-1mm of leeway in the height of the protector (as in it's about 0.5-1mm shorter than the actual height of the glass) and it covers completely from edge to edge width-wise with no leeway at all. So yeah you have to be real careful to get it completely straight or the sides will hang off just a tad.
Oh and btw, the microfiber cloth they gave me was mediocre at best and the edges gave off some lint that landed on the sticky side of my protector. Luckily enough the lint didn't stick since I had wet it pretty liberally beforehand.

I freaked out a bit when I installed the Skinomi on my Flyer tablet, as I could see small bubbles (looked like glitter all over the place) under the protector after a full day of drying. I think the instructions say to wait 24 hours for all the bubbles and moisture to disappear. But it took a good 2-3 days, and they were all gone. So just be patient.
At least on my Flyer, Skinomi has a VERY slight "orange peel" texture. But its almost very difficult to see. You have to look very closely, and under the right lighting, and you will see it. But its pretty hard to notice, and completely invisible when the screen is on. IMO, this makes Skinomi makes a superior protector to similar quality/type products, such as Zagg.

Yeah, Skinomi has me forgetting about Zagg and not ever going back. It fits perfectly and feels great. Almost like there's nothing there at all.
I agree with all the statements above. There is a very very very small discrepancy with the screen and protector size, and you'll need practically surgical accuracy to get it right. I'm satisfied with mine. The glitter-liked micro bubbles have also cleared up and now I barely notice the protector on it. Perfect.

LOL, $.95 for the item and $2.95 for the shipping! Oh well, still worth it IMO.
Has anyone got larger bubbles with there? Just applied mine and im seeing super large bubbles, but I can squeegee them out at all.

Yes, the gorilla glass is supposed to be scratch resistant. I personally love the protector because its not nearly as rubbery as some of the other ones I have used, such as the Zagg InvisibleShields.

i have the same question, i use a tpu right now but i was considering getting this full body shield, or this to use with the tpu. the body shield makes the back look sort of glossy and tacky like a grandmas couch wrapped in plastic so im not sure i want to do a back shield. if this doesnt fit i think ill buy the sgp or try the zagg hd.

I don't know about the TPU cases, but I have mine in a Ballistic case and I haven't experienced any issues at all; no bubbling, no edges coming up, no orange peel feel. Everything is all good.

Scratch resistant, yes. But nowhere near impossible to scratch. I've seen quite a few reports of GG screens on other phones, that were scratched with normal usage. On the other hand, some users claim to have dropped and abused GG with no scratches. So the choice is yours. But if go bareback and you scratch the screen, you have no recourse, and you can't undo it. So for me, its worth it to have the extra insurance against scratches as a tradeoff for the minimal change in feel that a high quality screen protector gives.
This screen definitely scratches.
I had a few hairline scratches on my first unit that I had to return, in the first few days.
Never was anywhere but in my front pocket with nothing else.

Glad i seen this review, i did however go out and buy a protector for my one x as well a bit earlier today. My Diztronic TPU case should be here tomorrow, then my skinomi screen protector here the day after. So i could let everyone know how they pair up together unless someone beats me to it.

It dries up, but the solution seems to be messed up or something. It left behind this mist effect of little dots that won't go away.
Really annoying and on white colors it creates a bad rainbow effect.
Just pointing it out, I installed it twice and both turned out the same. Going to ask for a refund, or 3rd times the charm?

Yeah at first I had that mist you described. I assumed they were microbubbles. Fortunately for me they all went away within 24 hours time. I only get the rainbow effect whenever I leave enough fingerprint marks on the screen but other than that, its been perfect for me.
Am I the only one who can't seem to get one of these installed without the edges having issues? Both sides of the screen protector seem to be lifted off the device, this is the second one I have tried. Putting a TPU case on causes it to lift the protector off.
Still looking for a decent glass screen protector for my note 4, and now people mention the halo effect being an issue... not to sure what that is. Can anyone tell me?
Also do any of the screen protectors glass or otherwise actually cover the entire front of the phone?

The screen is curved at the edges. So if you use a glass protector it will be sticking out (about 4mm) all around the edges. Right away it looks bad, because you can see that the screen protector is not sticking all the way to the edge. In a few days it becomes very very bad once it picks up dust and lint from the pockets. It doesn't really look like a halo (a ring of light), but rather a ring of garbage.
Hahaha first have to say I like your username. The halo effect with glass screenprotector is caused because the edges of the screen seems to be rounded off. As a glass screenprotector is not flexible it does not make full contact on the edges of the screen. This is causing de the so called halo effects AFAIK

Ahh... I see I have had that in the past will nearly all screen protectors I have bought (never had a glass one and still havent yet) now I understand the effect. I do find it can be mitigated by the cases used but more often than not the protector starts looking grubby and comes up at the edges so much so I need to replace it. Thanks for informing me!
I had one on currently. It did not cover the edge of screen (black glass) fully. Not sticking fully at side. Can see gap. There alittle bubble at side but not visible.
What annoy me is the rainbow light effect at the side when i use my note 4. Not visible on dark background.

nope, that's just the rainbow effect.
I thought the Halo effect also included when the screen protectors were cut too short, and had an excess gap from phone edge to protector edge. Haven't a gap is necessarily a bad thing if one is using a case that wraps around the edge, but does not include a screen protector like many of the cheaper TPU or hybrid cases.

I hadn't thought of the halo as being where a glass screen protector isn't sticking to the curved edges of the screen, but that does make more sense than a separate sort of "halo" that I've observed and disliked. Namely, even for a screen protector cut narrow so that it only covers the flat screen surface, I've still seen a perimeter "ring" that was distracting, not seeming to be 100% optically transparent. After removing the Bear Motion (not to fault them, but rather I suspect this is common to many brands of glass screen protectors) screen protector, I examined it under a 10x magnifier and confirmed my suspicion, that the PET film the glass is layered with, is cut smaller than the glass itself. The result is that a perimeter margin exists where, presumably, there is only glass, and maybe the reason it doesn't seem 100% optically transparent is due to the polishing to achieve the rounded edge. No expert here, this is just pure speculation on my part, but nonehtheless, I don't like the visual appearance this results in when the screen protector is applied to my SGN4 screen.
I'd be interested in seeing a tempered glass screen protector where the manufacturer does have 100% exact matching cuts of each layer of material used in making the protectors. Moreover, should the oleophobic coating introduce any "tinting" for lack of a better word, then I'd also like to know the coating is also 100% edge-to-ege on the protector so that no matter where one looks, there are no margins but just 100% edge-to-ege optical transparency through all layers.
For now, I'm of the opinion that the best screen protector for the SGN4 may well be the premium PET film protectors rather than tempered glass ones. For use with my Platinum series (Best Buy's "Seidio Surface" case) case, the glass screen protectors seem almost too thick to use, as the case is a very snug fit across the face of the phone. Holding the phone in the case, there is a feeling of some give to the case which may be just enough extra room to use a PET film screen protector that extends over the screen curves and allows the case to slip on without snagging an edge. That said, I'm very tempted to just use my phone with the screen in "naked gorilla mode". That is...just the bare Gorilla Glass screen.

Jesus christ. I just paid $30 at some Chinese place and the fit looks alright (99% pixels covered). It I see this in a week, I will be beyond pissed. The store will get an earful if they play the we didn't sell this to you since I paid cash.
Edit - welp, go figure. Small halo (1-2mm for now) about 2 hours after install. Too bad I am gone, next time I will be in the area is a week from now... Not sure if I should go back tomorrow... What a ****ing piss off. Should have went with my intuition.

I went with amFIlm Premium Screen Protector. It's not good, nor bad. You get a pack of three for $4. It's not glass, but it's not a mutlilayer plastic either. It doens't feel like glass. It's dry application. It does cover viewable screen. Does have some flex so you can get it not do the halo thing. I personally applied and the put the GN4 between a bunch of books for a few hours to make sure it adhere well. Since it's cheap, it's not a big deal if it scratches; better than the actual glass.
This give some time for the everyone else to try out the more expensive screen protectors and thus, we can read and see their results. Personally, I'm waiting for the Just Like Glass people to decide if they're going to release something. I wrote them and was told they might carry it and that the owner was considering getting a Note 4, who would be the genie pig for the fitting.
Just remove glass sp & have it check for scratches and dirt. Wipe it clean too. Pasted a new snti glare guard since sweaty palm. It look good without bubble and goid touch too.
My experience so far
So far as i can tell there are no 100% perfect screen tempered glass screen protectors out there. i Myself have a spigen slim tr installed on a black Note 4 with a titanium Verus iron shield and you can barely see any halo. Honestly the little halo i do see is less thick then business card and barely thicker then a sheet of standard paper. I do not have my hopes up at all that we will see a tempered glass protector that is 100% perfect because it would also require users to install it 100% flawless. Its glass guys, there's no real give, unless they use an adhesive that will fill in the gaps, but that may inhibit the spen functionality which then negates the purchase of the Note all together. I would recommend to anyone doing their own install, to use the bathroom steam prep method, along with the hinge method. These two together prove to be the most effective in avoiding any issues. That being said, i am unable to really tell if what i am seeing is truly a halo effect, or the curvature on the glass refracting the light. its been on for over 2 weeks and has dealt with my day to day wear and tear which includes going to the office, gym, bars, outdoors for a hike, all without any shifting or scratches. Either way i am thrilled with the application of my screen protector and wish you all the best in yours.
Halo efect solution
I have a note 4, bought a cheap screenprotector, so, i did now the problem of halo with my old screenprotector, i had some glue from my whitestone screenprotector from my note 9, so i used that glue for my note 4 with the sceap screenprotector, results are very good, no halo at all, did come out very nice, applied it the same way as normal with a whistone protector, so, maybe i can help someone with this system, i don't know where you can buy this glue seperate, mine was from whitestone, maybe someone knowes were you can buy this glue, in the future i will only do it this way, i can recoment this, by the way, excuse me for my poor english, i don't do this every day, i'm from the netherlands

After dealing with Halo on my Nexus 6 with glass protectors, I'm not even going to bother with glass for this phone. I have not ordered the phone yet because I was waiting for a good case and a good plastic screen protector. I found the case I wanted (Supcase Unicorn Beetle) and it will be released on the 25th. Does anyone have a really good plastic screen protector, or know where I can find one? All I can find on Amazon are ones with either bad reviews or no reviews at all. I have some time since I won't be ordering the phone until the case comes in. Thanks in advance!

I just got mine in yesterday...don't use the bumper with the screen protector. It'll just goof it all up. I'm just dealing with it until I can get a real case. The screen protector is OK...gets oily from your fingers and smudges like crazy but for that cheap, I'll deal with it until decent tempered glass comes out.

Just got mine today. They fit, but definitely seem like they are not for this phone. Corners are rounded way.differently of a radius and the sensors and camera spots up top seem very generic of a cut.
I already sent an email to the seller on Amazon billing hoping they revise the design.

Yes. Feel is very smooth. Easy to apply. Minimal bubbles that are easy to push out. I've used iLlumishield many times before. Probably top 3 in quality. I'm sure the first run was probably used from a template that was sent to them. If they get an actual phone in hand, the fit will be spot on.
People still use screen protectors.. You do know the only way u can scratch up ur screen or crack it is dropping it on a bunch of small rocks or face first on concrete without a raised bumper case.., only fine grits of rocks and sand scratches gorilla glass.. Yea is no saphire glass but still..

They are so cheap and this way I can ensure I won't get any small surface scratches. It also keeps the screen pristine for when I resell my phone.

all it takes is a bit of sand in your pocket and you will get scratches....gorilla glass isnt all that great, better than standard but i learned my lesson from no screen protector on my samsung phones

Exactly. It barely costs nothing. I have a plastic screen protector and I smacked my phone against the edge of my aluminum Apple keyboard. It damaged the screen protector but my screen is scratch free.
I know that when I sell my LG G3, I can say that the screen is scratch free and in pristine condition because it was protected.

I never used wet. Even though a phone may be waterproof in terms of drops, I don't ever want to squeegee water out from a screen protector only for it to get trapped in the crevice of the screen.
I personally prefer the dry only because it uses static to cling on and stays on. If there is dust or particles underneath, all I have to do is lift up the side closest and take an extra long piece of tape and use it to grab the particles. Repeat this until it is particle free and you have a flawless screen protector.
In the past, the screen protector was sticky and if something got stuck underneath, that was it. It would be hard to remove the particle.

It is by far the worst quality of any glass screen protector I have ever used or seen. The adhesive does not even come close to the outside of the glass, the glass is 1-2mm too small for the phone screen, outdoors you can see spots aligned in rows and columns all over it, and you can see weird vertical streak mark things in the right light.
I realize the spots are common to all glass screen protectors, but never have I seen them so pronounced and visible.

On another note, I hate what Foxcon did to the edges of the phone. It looks like to make the titanium rounded they just hand sanded it into a round shape with course grit sandpaper. It feels terrible and looks all scratched up and nasty. Very low quality for this phone.
How much does the edge of the glass curve on the phone? If that protector is more or less flat out to the edge, is the phone starting the glass curve that far in where the adhesive is showing? That pretty much makes any glass screen protector not built with a curve in it useless if that's the case.

I wondered the same thing.
I hate the heck out of this curved screen craze everyone followed Apple/Samsung on. My favorite screen was on my LG G3 and 6P. Nice and flat with straight edges, screen protectors just blend in nearly invisibly and the feel was good. I feel with these curved screen that even naked, they just don't track as well and overall force you to use it naked or have a screen protector that is obviously on it and can't fit perfectly since they only make curved ones for iPhone or Samsung edges.
And if you do run it naked, the curved edge will scratch guaranteed over time even if the main front doesn't.
I bought the sparin brand glass screen protector from Amazon and it looks nearly identical to this.
Looks like film protectors will be the only option here..
If you apply it absolutely perfectly, it can take a bit of time for it to "settle" as well. Keep some pressure on the edges to see if it can adhere a bit better.
I was afraid of this though as it looks similar to the issue Nokia Lumias had. Blast those stupid curved edges. If I could just get a Nexus 6P 2 with the internals of todays phones I would so totally jump on that.
Luckily going by the ones I Got on Amazon the only review says they fit perfectly, so I guess I'll see in a week.

Maybe it is ever so slightly curved, but to my eyes it looks flat up until a 1-2mm curve at the very edges. It is really hard to get a good picture of it with my other phone because it cant focus so well on something so small and close, so this is the best I could do:

I'm going to be trying out the Ghostguard invisible liquid protector from Liquipel. That is if I decide to keep the Essential over my U11. Either way, I'll let you know how it goes when I receive the Essential next week. And you get a year of "if you break it, we fix it" from Liquipel. It should do very well against scratches (from videos I've watched, even compared to tempered glass), but definitely not cracks or shattered screens if dropped.
However, even with no protection on several of my past devices, I never had a scratch or worse. I take very good care of my phones. And if I decide to keep the Essential, I'm hoping fitbag releases their sleeves for it.

Thats cool. I have read good things about the liquid protectors. What I cannot for the life of me figure out is the difference between the glass protector ones and the liquid protection (like flash flood). They all have the same selling points and water beads up off of all of them. The liquid option seems like a good way to preserve the minimalism of the PH1. I saw a review where someone had the matte black dbrand on the back and it looks outstanding.
I don't think any glass protectors will work since this screen isn't flat. What Happened to the good old days where the screen was just a flat piece of glass that edged up against a bevel without all this curved 2.5D madness

I had minimal issues and expected to have the issue that the OP had. But if you don't want to go to my review to look at the pics here they are attached. You can use the Olive Oil trick to achieve the same results, at your own risk of course.
But I'm diggin it right now and very happy with it after the olive oil, before I was just going to deal with it.
